5161  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Discussion is not Bitcoin Price Prediction Discussion on: June 22, 2018, 09:52:32 PM
It's strange because the stickies in the Meta section at least have a good number of views on the threads (I know these will be visited multiple times by the same person), but it just doesn't seem they actually read it, and take in the information presented in the thread. Instead, they just skim it or enter the thread, and then leave.
5162  Other / Archival / Re: PAY FOR REPLY on: June 22, 2018, 09:50:10 PM
Use the "report to moderator" button on the bottom right of the thread, and include the link. Nice job on reporting this though, but it doesn't really need a new thread for it to be dealt with as all of it can be done within the report field.
5163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounty campaigns in a nutshell... on: June 22, 2018, 09:06:54 PM
I will say from my experience, I watched a lot of videos on YouTube channels before I had to go into bounty companies. I want to note that for a beginner you need to start with the security of wallets.

Security should be the very fundamentals that you learn before anything, and not exclusively for bounty campaigns. In fact if a bounty requires you to download anything I would advise that you download it in a separate virtual machine at the very least.
5164  Other / Meta / Re: Commercial interest could be used to help control spam. on: June 22, 2018, 08:55:01 PM
If not that, then maybe have ability to make multiple reports at one time: For example, click on checkboxes and then report a few posts as shitposting or something like that. Have a custom title maybe? Upgrade signature slots? Ability to embed videos? Change the background? Have privacy oriented settings specially made for these members? A chat room for multiple members?

I can think of many more but not sure if these are all possible.
I actually quite like that checkbox suggestion. You could report in bulk, and I don't think that this should be put behind a rank as it could be useful for anyone that reports. I know multiple scenarios where this would save both time, and effort. Even though I have a 4 second cool down on a report I still run into it now, and then.
5165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 08:23:14 PM
What a shame for Serbia to lose in the 90 minute , clamorous error from their defense. I had it as Joker the result 1-1 and I was expecting 601 points yet I got 0, now for the first time in this pool I am a bit sad for such loss.

Man, that sucks. Doesn't look like the results are going towards our favor down at the bottom of the leader board. Thankfully, at the moment my results in the bracket challenge are looking somewhat favorable. Serbia as a whole have impressed me this World Cup though.
5166  Other / Meta / Re: Commercial interest could be used to help control spam. on: June 22, 2018, 08:12:21 PM
An official set of rules created by any of the two admins, so that things become much clearer.
I think they are open to interpretation for a reason to prevent users finding a loophole, and exposing that. I'm not sure whether a clear amount of rules would help either as the majority of people who are breaking the current guidelines haven't read the thread.

Have a new rank after reaching legendary, where members have a little more access to help the forum in possible ways(I am sure theymos knows the best Wink)
This is interesting. What sort of access? I know I remember seeing a name suggestion of the new rank; "Mythical" or some sort of variation as that.
5167  Other / Meta / Re: Remove self moderate option from service announcement ( Altcoins) to reduce scam on: June 22, 2018, 06:18:19 PM
You are right self moderate is better for remove spam from own post. I am not asking this option from all board. Because it's helpful for other board. I suggest it remove for Service Announcements (Altcoins) .
Yeah, however there's legitimate reasons why a user might want to moderate their own thread there. You've seen how many spam posts that are made in that section as a whole, and I wouldn't blame a user from taking it into their own hands to self moderate rather than reporting to a moderator. Of course, there's going to be some projects which abuse this feature by removing posts which call out the project or speak badly of it, but that's just the compromise that needs to be made.

5168  Other / Meta / Re: Remove self moderate option from service announcement ( Altcoins) to reduce scam on: June 22, 2018, 06:11:40 PM
You can heed the advice, and open a new thread addressing the issues with the Service. Anyone should be allowed to open self moderated threads. Doesn't mean you can't make another thread calling them out for their shenanigans though.

Removing self moderated threads would just affect the people who are moderating their threads themselves instead of reporting to the moderators. Self moderated threads have a purpose other than malicious uses.
5169  Other / Meta / Re: mindset of some people here on: June 22, 2018, 06:00:23 PM
OP, you might want to use the "ignore board" feature.  I have Bitcoin Discussion and a number of others on ignore, and it helps keep my unread threads feed relatively clean.
Eventually, all the people who actually contribute are just going to have most of the sections on ignore or they will just straight up leave like others have before. I think a few years from now we'll just be talking in Meta.

I don't personally have any sections on ignore, however I do understand why someone would do this as some of the sections are just getting out of hand now.
5170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 05:52:40 PM
Don't worry to much, I have been in the last 2 places since the beginning of the pool but I am not worried. A Joker game if hited right can give you up to 600 or more points so it can make you climb many many positions with only one game. Find a few other correct scores and you will see yourself fighting in the top from the bottom. I will take a screenshot of my position as if it happens I reach top positions in the end of the tournament I will put up the famous meme:

"Started from the bottom, now I am here"

Yeah, I understand that, however honestly I couldn't predict what I'm having for tea tonight at the moment. I've been shocking. I'm glad I've learned about the joker system now though, and will be trying to get the mini challenges more often than I have been doing to try and rake myself back in this.
5171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 04:56:22 PM
Wasn't expecting Nigeria to be the ones winning so fair play to them if anything I had a feeling Iceland would be the ones to win. Damn, I really need to get some correct scores in as I'm quickly becoming irrelevant in this. Correct results just aren't the way to earn pts you need to hit a few scores.
5172  Other / Meta / Re: Can this guy (cryptoaeronet) be ban? [information updated] on: June 22, 2018, 04:06:17 PM
Moderator can ban if they wish as this user doing unethical things. He is a jr. member and already received negative trust, so he can spread rumor but can attack as he is not D1 or D2 member.

Negative/positive trust shouldn't have any bearing on anything related to moderation whether they are breaking the rules or not. Rank also doesn't have any effect on moderation.
5173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 04:03:10 PM
Nigeria haven't had a shot on target yet, but sounds like they are putting in a real effort in defense. Hopefully, they can hang on to give me some points Cheesy

I'm not watching the game, and if sigurdsson is playing then I'll be expecting him to bang in a free kick at the dead of the game.
5174  Other / Meta / Re: Commercial interest could be used to help control spam. on: June 22, 2018, 02:39:58 PM
Not going to work
One reason is that the real results will be disastrous, and so the managers themselves will start to inflate the numbers to prove that the campaigns they are running are "successful".
If ICO owners see there are no clicks from the usual low-quality members who work for tokens, do you think they will still run them?
Dishonest bounty managers will do everything not to lose their income.

You could track clicks that result in sales if the service being advertised works like that. This would eliminate most abuse, although maybe not all services would be able to do this. Monitoring just clicks would be abused by both campaign managers, and those who want to continue earning from signatures.
5175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 12:37:32 PM
I agree calling it match rounds would avoid confusion I initially thought it was per day.

Cool!  Congrats.  The result was def shocking.  I had the match at 1 - 1.  And I was just teasing when I said Messi will get a hat trick.  Lol.

Anyway, it looks like you won the side bet.  Post your BTC wallet and I'll send the payment right after Argentina's final game next week if Messi doesn't score a single goal (I'm still hoping for that Messi hat trick, which hopefully could hold).  Cheesy

And yes, I'm aware that ARG is out.  But Messi could still go wild imo.

The thing is Messi has never really been that impressive for ARG in my opinion. Well, he hasn't been shit obviously has he is Messi after all, but he hasn't reached the form that he has when he plays for Barcelona.
5176  Economy / Reputation / Re: A question regarding duplicate/alt accounts that join bounties! on: June 22, 2018, 09:22:29 AM
Due diligence needs to be taken whenever anyone is considering tagging anyone. Your case example has almost certainly happened, but there should be other things to consider. For example, post history is normally a good indicator. People are their own downfalls to habits. We all have habits, and unique styles of writing.

There's also the possibility of doing time analysis to identify whether the alleged connected accounts timing links up together. It's not really same address = connected. There's several things to consider. A example that I can relate too because I don't personally go after bounty participates, but I've reported several accounts which were owned by the same person, and were breaking the rules one way or another. I used a combination of timing analysis, and analyzing their habits. Reported them, and it seems the staff members generally agree with it.
5177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How To Stay Safer With Your Private Key and Secure Your Crypto Assets on: June 22, 2018, 09:15:12 AM
Method Five:[/b][/color] You Don't Need to Login to your wallet every time to check if you received a coin from airdrop or bounty.
This is mostly the reason people log in to their wallet frequently to check if they have received a coin from an airdrop or bounty. There are some third-party explorers that enable you to check coins/Token you received in your wallet, without you needing to log in to your wallet all the time. example of such explorer is etherscan.io ethexplore.io. I personally prefer to use etherscan.io

This is good advise. Unless, you need to send your Bitcoin elsewhere there is no reason to open up your wallet for the sake of it. Even if it is on a offline computer, and is generally secure.

I haven't accessed some of my wallets for 2 maybe even 3 years in some cases. Yeah, they are cold storage, but I haven't even accessed them to claim forked coins as that just doesn't interest me. Plus, it would require a lot of work to get my private keys.
5178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 09:08:52 AM
Got my eye on my Iceland game today. I've predicted a bore draw as Iceland are pretty good at defending. But, I'm not sure on the quality of Nigeria to be honest, but have gone for a gamble on the score to dry, and get some points back.

Good to know about this. Will be checking it out. Hopefully, with that, I could have the chance to have higher points  Cool

I was also surprised by what happened to Argentina and Croatia.

It's pretty easy to miss, but under every score prediction there should be what looks like a jokers hat. You will need to click that on the game you want double points on. My extensions were also blocking the image so if you have extensions on your browser, and you cant see the joker hat make sure to disable them.
5179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 22, 2018, 01:31:08 AM
I didn't even know about the joker feature just logged in to check it. You get a chance to double your points on one match per match day? That's actually incredible. Can't believe I missed this little feature before.

I definitely didn't see the Argentina, and Croatia result coming that's for sure.
5180  Other / Meta / Re: Has the Merit faucet dried up? Solutions? on: June 21, 2018, 02:02:16 AM
That is bad. Meta and Reputation are the boards where most of the forum politics, bitching takes place. I'm surprised you called them good sections because it dissolves the entire point of running a bitcoin forum. Most happening topics in those boards revolve around leaving feeback back to each other and how untrustworthy someone is.
Can posts that identify others as scammers not be high quality posts? There's several threads within the reputation thread which have gone into depth, and investigated their claims quite thoroughly. These investigations take time, and effort. Just because there is a lot of bitching that goes on within that section doesn't take away from the fact that there's some genuinely good posts in there.

There's also a few bitching that goes on within the Development & Technical support sections. Although, I'll admit to a much lesser degree. But, I've seen a few posts which attack each other for no real reason other than they disagree with each other. In fact a few members like to push their agenda against achow101 over there for whatever reason.

I also enjoy some of the discussions that come out of Meta, and although there's been a massive up rise in shit posts here recently its not all bad. For example, recently there's been some pretty good suggestions regarding moderation, and how to identify, and deal with the current problems of the forum.
