521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: B250 Mining Expert Motherboard - 13 AMD GPU Maximum on: June 12, 2018, 03:06:35 AM
Well it will, it's just that the 14th gpu needs to be a mining specific card liek the p102 or p106 .. I was wondering if it was a mining card requirement or if you could just use a any nvidia cards to supplement 13 amd gpus' on that board

you see that is the thing, why only p106, p104 or p102? why not amd mining cards like rx 470? why only nvidia mining cards?
because Pxxx cards don't have display outputs. they are not GPUs but just some PCIe expansion boards from motherboard's point of view.

The asus rx 470 mining card has "Interface: DVI Output : Yes x 1 (Native) (DVI-D)", so it is all bound by display output it seems.

Interesting point. Skipped my mind that rx470 mining editions are still mining GPUs. Has anyone tried if they would work towards building a 19-GPU rig? These days it seems like power consumption is key to staying profitable. I would love to consolidate some rigs and build 19 or eve 21-GPU builds.
522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ALLMINE INC - FPGA Cryptominer on: June 11, 2018, 08:02:41 AM
We have not advertised any profitability. We're saying, 14Kh/s cryptonightv1 (monerov7), 20Mh/s lyra2z. Draw your own conclusions as to future market conditions and if you think this is a good buy or not.  We're also not using numbers from other devs.

We are selling 5000 units in this batch. There will be no more batches for the rest of 2018. Of the 5000 units, about 1500 have gone to small/medium farms, about 1000 have gone to the community. 2000 units have been reserved by a large farm. They will not be able to pay until friday and we're continuing to sell from their stock to the community until they are able to pay. We've already sold somewhere between 500-1000 depending on how many of these bank deposits actually pay for those units meant for that large farm. Everyone has until friday to place their order. On friday, the farm will get whatever remaining units are available. I realize there's a discrepancy of 500 units, those are warranty stock.

I didn't realize the scale of your venture until now. That's a lot of money. $17.5 million dollars at 3.5k each unit.

If this doesn't push through you'll probably be hunted and killed anyway, so i guess this must be legit. Now i wish i put in an order. Is it really too late? But then again, 5000 units also means potential 70 MH/s will be spread across cryptonight difficulty (current total for Monero is 400 MH/s). Profitability wise, everything really seems downhill.
523  Economy / Economics / Re: When will people feel comfortable using BTC ? on: June 11, 2018, 04:41:57 AM
Pretty old topic which was probably revived by spam, but good discussion nonetheless.

I for one believe people will feel more comfortable using BTC when it is recognized by more governments. This has been done by Japan which openly supports the use of bitcoin and other crypto which has resulted in a boost in their economy (sources should be cited but you can google these for yourself). When other countries follow suit and openly support bitcoin, the era of bitcoin's mass adoption will begin.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone doing Electroneum Mobile Mining? on: June 11, 2018, 02:33:57 AM
Sure, mining ETN here, it gives me about 6$/month on my phone last time I checked (2 weeks ago), it pays my phone bill...

I'm guessing you have to check again. Electroneum is now notorious for poor execution. I will never forget how disappointed i was when they launched their blockchain and locked loyal investor's funds for more than 2 weeks because of "technical issues" while new investors and miners were able to profit and dump the price of ETN.

I believe Electroneum has lost the public's trust and will never amount to anything. They aren't solving any real world problems anyway, if any, they're just adding to crypto's negative side as a failed company that misused it's $40 million dollar ICO funding.

My opinion: Electroneum = Shitcoin.
525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE][TUTORIAL][XMR,ETH,ETN]How To Mod Bios RX470/570/480/580 VEGA Mining 💰 on: June 11, 2018, 12:41:02 AM
Anyone to share a 470 mining edition (Saphire) 4gb samsung Bios and settings?

You can either use the Polaris one-click timing patch feature or you can download an original/stock rx470 Samsung bios and edit it manually. It's pretty easy as there are already numerous tutorials out there that teach you how to do it step-by-step.

Here is a link to a PBE one-click patch tutorial: https://forum.getpimp.org/topic/1530/bios-modding-with-polarisbioseditor-one-click-timing-patch-on-windows
Good luck.
526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 10, 2018, 11:35:23 PM
theres no proof that zec team got paid its a rumor, ppl are even saying eth team got paid all that makes no sense
these devs have millions upon millions, they don’t need any money from bitmain

Isn't the "millions upon millions" they have, locked in as project funds? Of course we acknowledge that they get a huge portion of these funds but if really can't be much more than millions. If they gave themselves an absurd salary then that in itself it would be questionable. If they funneled project funds to do something for their own benefit that again would also be questionable and tell a lot about the project.
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: June 10, 2018, 03:00:20 AM
If they sell enough to crash eth mining. It will crash gpu mining.

The E3 isn't really any more efficient than the GPU miners so I don't see how these units will make any impact at all.  Like someone else pointed out there weren't enough of these sold to make a difference.  Run the hash/energy consumption numbers and you will verify for yourself that this is no competitive advantage with the E3.

For those who bought the first batch E3 worth $800, the price point is a clear competitive advantage.

Also, if pay closer attention to the E3 notes, it says that the advertised hashrate and power consumption is only conservative and would probably change once it is delivered. We could be looking at 180-200 MH with less than 800 watts power consumption. Thats better efficiency than any GPU out there as of today.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining profitability ASIC vs GPU on: June 09, 2018, 01:12:07 PM

Zcash - Still being debated - Proof

As far as i know, ZCASH has made it clear that although they originally promised a ASIC resistant blockchain, they are flaking on their promise and are not interested in developing any anti-ASIC forks. They have even gone as far as banning people who talk about ASICs in their forums.

If you need to find more info on this i believe the user Dmwardjr has made some threads about Zcash and ASICs here in this forum.
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Octominer B8PLUS 8 PCIe Slot Mining Board (Motherboard, integrated CPU) on: June 09, 2018, 04:27:43 AM
Just would like to post feedback that some people in our local crypto-mining scene have started receiving their Octominers and they are very happy with it. The build quality is good and setup was easy and hassle-free as advertised. I'm thinking of getting one myself and building a "show-off" rig.

Congratulations and more power to Octominer!
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50Ksol/s 620W, Innosilicon announces World Best Equihash Miner A9 ZMaster on: June 09, 2018, 03:43:42 AM
Not a fan with how Innosilicon deals with customer service, as evident in their previous threads also posted on this forum

The $10,000 price tag on this ASIC is steep and anyone buying it would be taking a HUGE risk. If equihash forks, thats $10k down the drain because Innosilicon will not care about you. They've made that clear with their poor after sales service. Just google some reviews, Innosilicon is BAD for business.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] Forked coins, ASIC resistance and current algorithms on: June 08, 2018, 09:26:49 AM
You have a neat list that is probably worth some merits (would give some if i had any left). Might i just make some little recommendations that could potentially make it even better?

  • It would be useful if there was a link to the coin's website / ANN thread / or any sort of reference
  • I know price is volatile and what you post today may be invalid tomorrow, but at first glance the price of a coin could be a good way to filter which coins to research first
  • If no price, maybe a link to an exchange where it's available

532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining profitability ASIC vs GPU on: June 08, 2018, 08:53:05 AM

Some of the list of ASIC MINERS   Hash Rate     Pow.Cons.   Price/start      Profitability       Payback

Bitmain Antminer z9 mini                 10KH/S         300w           $850.00        $32.30/d           26d

Great post! But it's immediately hard to not notice that the cost of the Z9 MINI is wrong. As far as i can recall, it was never as low as $850 (you may be referring to the E3 which was originally sold at $800).

2. ASICs are harder to use (either you need a separate building/warehouse or you need to tolerate a jet engine in your home).

I'd beg to differ. ASICs are extremely easy to use (literally just plug and play earn). Let's not confuse "harder to use" with "harder to tolerate." Besides, it's also easily to tolerate if you are willing to put in the effort to it. A simple coleman cooler case silencer would easily reduce your noise problem.
533  Economy / Economics / Re: Wise thing to do with your savings. on: June 08, 2018, 08:40:17 AM
I see that many of you actually liked the concept of 20 % method wherein you allot 20% of your earnings to be saved as emergency fund.
So I was thinking, if that 20% allotted will be invested in a time deposit kind of account, will it still be possible to earn as much or invest it in cryptocurrency? Or maybe just let the money sleep until such time you will need it?
What will be a wise kove to do with the noney you have saved up?

While pure saving (in the sense of locking money in a bank) is good, you should also diversification into other options aside from crypto. There are lots of funds and stock options out there. Mutual funds are even gaining much popularity and are known to give stable dividends. Remember that crypto is extremely volatile and while it may be greatly rewarding if you pick the right coins, it could also be greatly frustrating when you pick the wrong ones.

Diversify and invest wisely!
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Isn't Hard disk mining ASIC safe ? on: June 08, 2018, 08:23:45 AM
You won't break even. Indeed, that's even if you can get the damn wallets to load these days...

Lots of burst fans would probably disagree with you and tell you they've ROI-ed 10 times over on their HDDs. Truth is, yeah, unless you started HDD mininng a year ago or later, you will have a difficult time ROI-ing on your equipment.

I am however confident that proof-of-storage is safe from ASICs. If you think of it, HDDs are already ASICs, they are specific to 1 application, which is storing data. Can't get more simple and direct as that.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to understand the value of one new coin? on: June 08, 2018, 08:14:28 AM
Personally, i just check 2 things.

First is if the coin has a unique and original innovation the solves a real world problem (there are already so many duplicate projects out there, why create a new one).

Second, and probably less important, i would check if they have a good marketing. They have to come out as a professional and competent team that is really out to do something and not just take investor money. If they can't even look good while promoting their coin chances are they're also not good at developing their coin.

537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for a Frame factory on: June 07, 2018, 09:49:06 AM
i would like to buy similar frame like this one: -snip-

Those pictures look like custom server racks. All you need to do is google mining server racks. They come in various sizes and they give the dimensions so if you want to do DIY you can estimate the size you need.

Even better, you can also try taking a look at Spotswood. They have been building custom computer and mining rig frames for quite some time now and the quality of their work is extremely good. You can visit their website at: http://spotswoodcomputercases.com/

539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [1080 | 1080TI] ETHlargement - The Hashrate Hardener on: June 07, 2018, 09:33:01 AM
hello, i have msi seahawk gtx1080, pill works and getting 30mhs after i run the file and claymore. however any slight overclock (+50mhz) in afterburner makes mining crash. any advise please_ without it im able to overclock to +500 withut any issue. i understand it makes timings more agresive, however +50 crashes pc?  Huh

Please anyone feel free to correct me, but as far as i remember, you have to close all your overclock tools first (MSI afterburner, nvidia-smi, etc) then run the pill first and then run your mining software second. After those are both running smoothly, thats when you open your overclock tools and apply settings. The settings won't be the same as your max overclock settings before the pill tho. It will be slightly less so just play around with the values.
540  Economy / Economics / Re: FINANCIAL TIPS on: June 07, 2018, 09:21:28 AM

* DONT SPEND BEYOND WHAT YOU EARN.

* SAVE FIRST BEFORE SPENDING

* SET SOME GOALS

I believe you forgot to add: INVEST FOR LONG-TERM.

While all those you mentioned are sound tips for saving your hard earned money, making your money work for you is another thing that is easily done through good investments. You can invest in crypto which is riskier but you can also invest in stabler equity bonds, mutual funds, and other opportunities available at your local banks or stock exchanges.
