5201  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get rid of at least half the threads appearing on the newbie board please on: June 16, 2018, 09:00:34 AM
Once in a while I see Newbies open topics in Meta, which are actually simple questions and suit better for the Beginners & Help board.  It would make sense to restrict Newbies in the Beginners and Help board.
With the current implementation this isn't really the case. If a newbie has a question relating to the forum then it belongs in Meta as it's a forum issue. If they have a question which is considered well known to more veteran members then it belongs in Beginners and help.

I believe this is one of the only exceptions were a question that is considered newbie would belong outside of Beginners and help. I report any questions relating to the forum in the Beginners and Help section that I believe belong in Meta, and the moderation team seem to agree.
5202  Other / Meta / Re: Is deleting and reusing posts allowed? on: June 16, 2018, 08:58:33 AM
Unnecessary spam which only has the effect of bumping the topic for what ever reason. You could probably report it for low quality content. It wouldn't really come down to plagiarism if they are copying their own posts, however if they appear to be using other peoples posts then it would be hard to determine from an outside view whether they own those accounts so would probably fall under plagiarism.  I don't see the point of deleting posts that far back, and posting them again.

Report it with the archive included, and see what the moderator dealing with it thinks.
5203  Other / Meta / Re: Trust ratings! on: June 16, 2018, 08:13:32 AM
Agreed.  Red trust by DT members is not an affliction; 99.9% of the time it's a spot-on evaluation and a deserved one.  I'm not quite sure what OP created this thread for--seems like it's an unnecessary editorial on the trust system without stating anything useful.

In addition, red trust is not a death sentence on bitcointalk, depending on what it's for.  If it's for, say, selling an account or asking for a loan with no collateral, there are plenty of people here who'd still be willing to do deals in the face of that.  The biggest problem for them is that a negative often disqualifies them from participating in sig campaigns--then they send constant PMs to the trust-giver and start whiny threads in Meta.  The results are always the same, too.  The trust doesn't get removed, the person gets their PMs blocked, and they get zero support from the community.  And then the cycle repeats.
Also, I believe that account sellers can actually redeem themselves. Of course the account that they sold would have to remain tagged, because it's changed hands. However, if they've changed their ways, and have demonstrated that they are helpful to the community, and are considered trustworthy in other aspects then I don't see a problem with changing that negative to a neutral.
5204  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 16, 2018, 12:23:44 AM
I give. We could spend hours on this issue. Please let me know who I'm protecting. AND IT'S NOT QS.

I'm not going to go down the route of claiming it's QS, and I'll be honest I was hoping that this was a fake screenshot right from the beginning. However, you've got to consider how this looks on the outside. If you were relatively new to the forum, and tried selling your account a few years ago when it wasn't so documented that it was a pretty unacceptable thing then I don't think it would be an issue.

But, your account holds a certain respect. It's pretty well known by the majority of the members here, and I just don't think the original owner would not know it's unacceptable to sell an account after being part of the forum for all these years.

I don't want to believe your protecting the buyer, and I don't want to believe it's been sold. But, the fact that you sent that message, and  then there are multiple password changes in among all of this just doesn't seem right.

If Bruno and the hypothetical buyer are in cahoots then it's impossible to verify the ownership of the account in any conceivable way. Same applies to any account.
Yeah, and it's why I'm so conflicted about the issue. All we do know is the PM was sent, and there were password changes. I tend to steer away from pure speculation, but this kind of hits a nerve with me for what ever reason. I remember liking Bruno quite a bit.

Alright, it seems that Bruno has attempted to sell an account before (PG) back when it was an accepted thing to do. Maybe, it's not totally unbelievable that he wasn't aware it's not really accepted anymore.

Whoever is posted with the account right now definitely sounds like Bruno, and matches up with his previous posts. I find it hard to believe that someone who has bought the account would be nailing his language down to a T.
5205  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 11:58:22 PM
Yes I can shed some light on the matter. At one time it was for sale but no longer after finding out that such wasn't permitted in spite of believe such was, even posting such as proof. I was mistaken. I in no way wanted to get my cred in jeopardy while serving the community along with advancing my ICO.
If this was the case wouldn't you have tried selling the account as this account, and not some throw away?

I like this theory. Most of them in this thread were all boring but this is fired up crack( I DON'T TAKE DRUGS,FYI).  Can someone else call Gleb to verify if this theory is true or false?
Calling him is useless. It literally proves nothing other than he's willing to potentially protect the person who bought it by claiming he's still in control.
5206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 15, 2018, 11:38:57 PM
Yeah, I'm going to need to make a few more accumulators after getting shafted by that game. Good news is I've already profited from a few other shorter accumulators from the other matches. This particular one that I got shafted on was a pretty long shot too, but it's just the manner of how it ended rather than getting the prediction outright wrong.
5207  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 11:08:42 PM
It's just strange I don't think he would of done it for money. AFAIK Gleb was invested in several different assets, and a few of them being altcoins. I think Gleb would of also known that he would of easily gotten a loan in the lending section on his reputation alone. I'm sure a few people would of done it without collateral or even taking the account as collateral just because of how well known it is, and on the assumption he wouldn't just give up an account like that for a mere 600.

I just can't get my head around this.

If Gleb needed money he could have just joined a signature campaign or asked for a loan. It would be interesting to know why he sold the account or if he just lost access to it somehow.

Yeah, and I think he would of done just that as he was aware of the earning capability with an account like his. I don't think he just lost access though as the phone number has been posted a few years ago, and he looks willing to verify it's him.

Something still seemed off to me. It's the posting/use of language that is different.
Yeah, I think this was also mentioned in the thread that the poster was almost trying a little too hard to act like Gleb. I'll admit it I accepted it as proof just because at that time I trusted Glebs word.
5208  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 10:57:14 PM
Can somebody kindly explain to me what crime I commented in not being trusted anybody while still being instrumental in scam busting in protecting the crypto community as I've done on my own fuckin dime over the pass several years, turning down all those offering to tip me for my services. Now, if you can get one ... JUST ONE ... person to claim and prove beyond doubt that I have indeed accepted a tip for said services, then I will exit this space in a heartbeat. Needless to say, such is/was not the case.

You haven't committed any crime, and no one is challenging the fact that this account has contributed a lot to the scam busting scene, and occasionally giving us readers a laugh. This isn't what we are challenging. We are challenging that the account has likely been exchanged given the evidence which has been verified to at least exist.

Therefore, if it has exchanged hands then all previous work done by the account just isn't valid anymore due to the fact that it's no longer the same person behind it. It's just another person using the integrity of the account as a mask.

We believed you with the evidence of the photo before, and I think we were all willing to let it die, but with the newly presented evidence it does look like you were willing to cover for the potential buyer, and post a photo, and verify it with a phone call too. At least this is what it looks like from the outside.

I was fan of you too yeah you trolled a little bit, but you really did look out for the community. Something just doesn't add up to me, why would you first be willing to sell the account, and why now. Also, if you have sold the account why on earth would you go to the lengths of verify that your still in control for them.

Would you be able to explain what possessed you to send that message? It's not like your a new member that doesn't know how much the account means to the community.
5209  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 10:30:02 PM
It's already been verified by Hilariousandco:
Op sent me the PM so I can confirm that's real at least.

Gleb verified himself after the PM in OP. Thus I'd say it's reasonable to assume they are still in control of their account.

I don't think he is. Whoever bought the account probably just asked him to send some proof to get out of the mess. Either way I don't really trust Gleb.

Bruno has contributed a fairly decent amount to the community over the years and based upon the fact he is (trying) to sell his accounts he likely is in need of money. So I would ask both hilarious and darkstar if they want to actively prevent Bruno from raising money he likely needs by selling something he duly owns?
Judging by the message, and the supplied information it has already been sold  Otherwise, why would the PM be within the time frame of the password changes[1], and Gleb was likely willing to verify that he was still in control to protect the buyer.

Figure 1:
Quoting from seclog:

May 24, 2018, 08:19:02 PM - Gleb Gamow - password changed
May 24, 2018, 08:46:24 PM - Gleb Gamow - password changed
May 24, 2018, 10:40:27 PM - Gleb Gamow - password reset via email
May 26, 2018, 06:42:21 AM - Gleb Gamow - password reset via email
June 04, 2018, 01:44:22 AM - Gleb Gamow - password changed

And according to their trust page:

"This user's email address was changed recently."

Timestamp of the PM screenshot is right after the first password reset.

5210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 15, 2018, 09:50:57 PM
The Portugal vs Spain match is just the icing on the cake that my accumulator would get shafted by an own goal...Unfortunately for me too I didn't predict a draw in this World Cup pool for either one of the matches that my accumulator was right on.

Here's to hoping for a better day tomorrow.
5211  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow Account Was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 09:43:45 PM
Seems Hilariousandco has reviewed the message, and came to the conclusion that it has been sold. Man, I'm not going to lie this actually hurts to be seeing this.

Especially, considering he was willing to verify the account still belonged to him when it looks like it might not. It makes me think why he would go to that length to protect the buyer though.
5212  Other / Meta / Re: Let's Ban Gambling Signatures/ Advertising on: June 15, 2018, 09:39:56 PM
Yes I wasn't entirely sure on that but I used to look at a thread like freebitco.in and it used to just have loads of FJ sig posters on it and not much else inbetween (the odd newbie with an issue maybe). Sure, if they screen their users beforehand then find but if we're going to section off parts of the forum for certain posters who are fearful of losing their signature spaces by switching things up and posting in a different board then IMO that is where the spammy parts might start to come in. I mean, until recently FJ were the highest paying signature so it made sense they had rules like that...

Yeah, I'm probably going on the assumption that it's being moderated properly, and they are enrolling users who post in the gambling section anyway. I don't really mind people altering their posting habits either as long as it's constructive the thing is this is rarely the case. Fortune Jack rings a bell to me, however I can't really remember much about their campaign, and how well managed it is.
5213  Other / Meta / Re: Let's Ban Gambling Signatures/ Advertising on: June 15, 2018, 07:15:51 PM
What makes gambling unmoral? People aren't trading in their morals for the allure of cash. Gambling can be somewhat fun in moderation. They aren't stealing your money, and you aren't funding some lab that researches on animals. I don't get it why people say gambling is unethical. It might be stupid, and a quick way to lose your hard earned cash, but that's your fault really for not having self control.

Sites aren't directly stealing your money it might seem that way as the odds are indeed stacked against you, but you know this before going in. I guess we have to ban all people investing in Bitcoin too right? Isn't that a sort of gamble?

Firstly, if fortuneJack still have their stupid campaign rule of 75% of posts being in the gambling section, then I'd be against that as ever since I first looked at it I thought it would encourage a lot of spam in that section.
Really? It's not that surprising that they would want people to be active in the gambling section, because they are targeting a specific audience. I don't personally have a problem if some gambling company wants most of their advertisements in the gambling section, however it would be best that they select participates on their history, and only enroll those who are active in the gambling section beforehand to prevent unnecessary posts.

I'm not sure if they do this, but if they select those who are already active in the gambling section then let them be. After all they can specify what they want, and it's probably better to see gambling related signatures in the gambling section rather than Meta.
5214  Other / Meta / Re: Merit as a Bookmark for good comments - 120 merit history on: June 15, 2018, 07:07:41 PM
You need to understand that this merit thing will become old with time and people will kind of get used to it like other features. Not recording very old merits means that the admin does not give much importance to it.

I know that this has some demerits also like it will hide the unreported merit abuse cases but we have follow the decision of admin (whose decisions had done only good to the forum so far).

That's not really the case at all. There's other features on the forum that can 'bookmark' a merited post like the watch list feature. You could also bookmark it personally via browser or by copying it in a text file. It just seems unnecessary data to keep for the long term, especially when members have sent out a few thousand merits. I'm sure theymos had plans to release a data dump on the full merit transactions just like he has with other things.

Honestly I don't see it as that big of a deal that merits get removed every 120 days. Yeah, it might be nice to know the merited posts, but only a select few would actually browse them, and take a look. The majority of forum users won't care for it.
5215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 15, 2018, 06:00:49 PM
Man that result messed up my accumulator, and by a own goal as well. I knew that it would be a tight game, and really thought a draw was on the cards. I guess it wasn't to be. Well let's just hope my other two accumulators come in.

Iran actually have a few hidden gems among the rough, and even though you could argue they were outclassed they defended fairly well. It's that defense I thought would of hold out from the barrage of Moroccan attacks. I guess I was right on that, but in no way did I see them actually winning the tie.
5216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 14, 2018, 09:04:17 PM
Honestly, Uruguay is their hardest matchup in the group, with that in mind, I would go defensive mode, try to get a draw, and rest Salah for the upcoming games, no need to rush him back. Godín and company are not gonna go easy on Salah if he's 100% fit, and if something goes wrong tomorrow then Mo won't be able to play for the next two games, which are far more important than the match tomorrow. But we'll see, I'd like to see him play but I don't want them to rush him back.
I would agree if it was an injury to a different body part, but it's the shoulder. Something which isn't easy to target without giving away a foul or getting a possible yellow card. If it's a injury to the leg it's much easier to go in hard, and injure it again. A shoulder doesn't really effect your footballing ability. Yeah, it can prevent you from running as fast, and you might not go in as strong as usual, but Salah isn't one to normally be involved with shoulder barges or anything like that.

Rugby players often dislocate their shoulders, and some just pop it straight back in, and continue playing. They will then get ice on it right after the match or at half time, and would likely do light training for the following weeks. Some have different recovery paths. I would argue that Rugby involves a lot more shoulder work than football. I'm not dismissing shoulder injuries, because some are worse than others. But, a few days after the injury they confirmed it wasn't that bad. I believe a pundit made a rather controversial comment on why he left the pitch in the first place.

It's not something that can be injured again easily, and that's why if he's fit or near fit I don't see a problem with starting him. You want to pick up points wherever you can in the World Cup.

Fast forward to tomorrow where he injures it again, and I'll have to eat my hat Cheesy In fact I think it's worth a bet for Suarez biting Mo on the shoulder, and injuring it again.

against one of the weakest teams in the WC  Cheesy according to the FIFA World Ranking, Saudi Arabia is 67th, worst position in the table (after Russia who are 70th) among the 32 teams in the competition.
Yeah against one of the weakest teams, however how many people predicted them to keep a clean sheet, and beat them convincingly like they did? So far no one in this thread did. Russia also have some decent players (Denis Cheryshev)
5217  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How should I configure a full node at a very low bandwidth? on: June 14, 2018, 08:56:07 PM
Thank you for your replys. I did not understand everything you wrote. What, for example, is a VPS?

As far as I understand it, it is not useless to run a full node with such a low bandwidth and basically I do not need to make any special configurations to make it work without disturbing my surfing.

That's my fault I hate when people abbreviate things, without specifying it earlier in their replies. I guess I fell for it this time as VPS(Virtual Private Server) is quite commonly known around here. A VPS can be rented to run a full node if you wished too.

Overall though, I don't see a problem with your internet speeds per say, and the only issue would be is if it affects your daily usage of your internet. Other than that there shouldn't be any problems with running a full node with those speeds. Like I suggested you can run the full node with the command above, and that will particularly help you from running into any limits that your ISP sets.

Once the initial download of the Blockchain has happened there isn't too much data that needs to be downloaded/uploaded on the daily.
5218  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 💚💚Know the most helpful self volunteer list for this forum 💚💚 on: June 14, 2018, 08:50:35 PM
Actually, OP there's several different threads over in the Meta section with subjects relating to helping others, as well as the forum. Anyone who is actively fighting spammers is helpful in my book. For example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.0

You've already listed LoyceV sure, but it would likely be unfair to exclude everyone else that has posted reports in that thread too. There's simply too many people volunteering their time in order to help others. Whether that's indirectly by reporting posts or offering merits to those who answer questions, or provide helpful posts.

I could literally provide you a list until I'm blue in the face with the amount of people offering their expertise in one way or another in order to help others. There's several members who volunteer their time, and help others out in the Bitcoin Technical Support, Development, and Technical Discussion, Meta and Beginners and help sections.

11,728 right now, thanks for the mention Grin

Get a shift on! Shorena will beat you otherwise Wink
5219  Other / Meta / Re: How about leaving - feedback on hacked account once verified proof. on: June 14, 2018, 08:38:19 PM
You're again making 2 big assumptions.

* assuming that @BitcoinBazaar is actually not the hacker himself or someone w/ a vendetta against the account holder.

* At the time we reviewed his bounty he had negative trust.

* WE DIDN'T' APPROVE HIS BOUNTY!

We have done nothing wrong, in this situation except to protect the TRUE owner of the account on our Bounty Platform... I hope the true account holder gets validation in the end.

I'm not making any assumptions. You said yourself that you can't check every user participating. Even, if you employed a manager to do it, and for some reason they aren't or can't right now you have to be prepared to come up with a temporary solution to this. You also personally said yourself that you listen to reports of other users. Where are my assumptions in this?

Sure, I hope the account does end up in the hands of the true owner.

but I will say that any reputable campaign manager won't accept red-tagged members. However, the campaigns that are just created here for the views (a.k.a. the bad actors) don't care about the negative score. They just care about how many times they can get their sigs displayed on the forums here. This issue isn't a problem with the DT members, but rather the campaign managers who accept neg-trust members, and the companies that hire them to manage their campaigns.

For the record, the majority of these campaigns are for shitcoins and airdrop bounties.

I for one don't actually care about them accepting red tagged members. I do care, and I would hope that their employer cares about accepting untrustworthy members. In my opinion a good manager wouldn't just restrict anyone with a red tag, but only those which have legitimate red tags, and they've investigated it themselves, and deem it an accurate tag.

There's several members on this forum which have received negative ratings from other members on DefaultTrust depth 2 that I would consider trustworthy. It seems that most campaigns restrict them from applying, but that's actually pretty lazy in my opinion. It doesn't take much to look at why that feedback was given, and whether it has any credibility. Plus, not everyone is going to agree with the rating, and it could well be subjective.

Moreover, due to the moderated nature of the trust system, and how anyone can leave a rating for any reason it would be unfair to prevent someone from something or view them negatively, because they've changed their email in the last 30 days for example. (Especially when backed up via a signed message)

5220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup and Premier League Predictor Football Pool on: June 14, 2018, 08:21:13 PM
I also think this could be mind games. I don't see Salah starting tomorrow unless he is really 100%. I would keep him on the bench for last 30 minutes and play him only if the result is still active. That way he has time to heal completely and play 2 games which should be more easy to win then this one.
I guess I'll make the bold prediction that he is going to start tomorrow.  In the world cup you take the games as they come, and I wouldn't be saving my best player for later games. If they can get a result against Uruguay then that would be a real launching pad into them qualifying. I just don't think the mind games would be effective. It would make more sense for them to say "Yeah, Salah isn't going to be starting", and then starting him. To say that he's starting seems like a calming effect on the rest of the squad, and Egypt fans.

I would expect them to get a result over Saudi Arabia, but I wouldn't be too sure about Russia. They put in a great display today, and have probably taken everyone by surprise by how they dominated the game. Plus, finishing first in the group will likely mean more favorable opposition in the next round as opposed to finishing 2nd.
