You have just added to the list of victims that have to learn through the hard way. Its unfortunate that you had to go through this because from your write up, it shows the amount of effort and energy you must have put to generate such amount of ETH but its gone now. The only consolation you can get is to be more careful next time because for someone to have access and be a able to move your funds, you must have contributed to it directly or indirectly.
562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin under 1$ to invest in now? on: December 04, 2017, 05:09:02 PM
Hello! Guys I am looking for coin under 1$ with some good Basics. maybe some coin that I can hold for 2 to 3 year. Am planning to add some more folios? All the suggestion are Open. Huh Huh

There are several coins that are below that amount you are targeting but you also need to exercise caution too because a lot of coins valued below that amount does not have too much activities in them and if you are unlucky, in the next 3 months, a lot of exchange sites would have delisted them while some exchange sites would allow you withdraw to btc, others don't have the liquidity to ensure that happening. My own contribution based on the experience I have had.
563  Economy / Economics / Re: Beside Cryptocurrenices where would you invest? on: December 04, 2017, 04:20:54 PM
If its not crypto currency, then its offline for me and would be in the real sector mostly inclined towards real estate because that is one without too much risk whatsoever the moment the papers and approvals are complete. Instead of bothering myself with setting up of company and have to battle the management to make it profitable, the employees to ensure they are paid their due wages, government to ensure filings and regulations are done as at when due, I would just focus on real estate where the clients are already there and the income will flow in without unnecessary hassles.
564  Economy / Economics / Re: DO you think china was right to shut down Bitcoin exchanges and ICO? on: December 04, 2017, 03:48:28 PM
I don't think its in my own opinion to decide whether its right or wrong because they didn't ask for our opinion before taking that course of action neither is it going to change the current situation of things as to why they ban ICOs and exchange. What I know is that, they have lost out in the scheme of things that happen in the digital currency environment but not totally because China still controls a large portion of mining activities in the world and that still puts them in a position of strength.
565  Economy / Economics / Re: short term investment or long term invesetment on: December 04, 2017, 01:51:49 PM
When it comes to the investment, many newcomers or people with frequent requirement find it difficult to invest for longer amount of time. Here by short investment i mean any investment which is less than year old. That investment has been cashed out within a year. And by long term investment I mean investment which will be kept for more than year ( ideally 10 years or so).
What do you think which is more beneficial short term investment or long term investment

To know which one is more beneficial, it would depend on the type of investment one is looking at. If you are looking at investment in the real sector of the economy, then you are looking at long term investment because in that case, you don't expect to ROI in the first five years the same thing if one is investing in the agricultural sector.

But if its the crypto world, then one year is a long term, short term is the best because within that period, a lot could have happen that would have made the investment appreciate, and also lost value. The best and most profitable is to monitor the market closely and do it short term.
566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will Altcoins Survive on: December 04, 2017, 11:31:36 AM
Will Altcoins survive as bitcoin is going higher and higher and the demand is getting increasing every day, what will happens to altcoins

Altcoins have always survived but the issue is that, is it the one that was there at the beginning is also the one there at the time when the comparison is being done. A lot of Alt have come and gone those ones can be said not to survived while we have some that have stand the test of time, those ones have survived and at the same time, several alts are coming out everyday depending on projects the fact is there is no way to know which one to stay till the future rather than to observe and be vigilant in other to only channel funds to those ones that the assurance that they will live into the future is relatively certain.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The price of BTC has fallen sharply. Will altcoin price fall? on: December 04, 2017, 07:33:04 AM
Has the price of BTC been fluctuating wildly recently? This wave of gains was all due to the rise of the BTC, with Altcoin passive following, and many of the altcoin's price not rising, and if the price of BTC fell sharply, it would not be disastrous.Triggered a huge sell-off.Will most of them lose money?

The relationship between alt coin and bitcoin is not exclusively a direct one neither it is an inverse one but only a few altcoin follows that pattern. In the waves of the increase in the price of bitcoin, a lot of alt coin have witnessed increase too while several other just decide to form their own unique pattern by not following the trend and for someone to really win in this era of high fluctuating prices, you need to identify the relationship of the alt you are interested in with bitcoin and not just follow the blanket opinion of people concerning such relationships.
568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is really great on: December 04, 2017, 05:28:45 AM
The way its going, its really going to be difficult for anyone to wish away the power of btc and how much value it wields. Today a lot of alt have realised that the best is to avoid competing with bitcoin rather pursue your own objective in your own way rather than claiming to be the next bitcoin or a better bitcoin. An increase in the price of any alt interprets to a much more increase in bitcoin.
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you keep track of the airdrops and bounties you've joined on: December 03, 2017, 09:20:09 PM
I really don't join too much that I can remember on top of my head because I see it as annoying creating several wallets to claim bounties here and there. If its more than say 3 at a time, all I do is just to write out the name on a to-do list on my computer ( when I had one) with the day of the week to do it and follow it through that's pretty all I do.
570  Economy / Economics / Re: popularity of bitcoin dictates demand, means more profit on: December 03, 2017, 09:06:20 PM
in my opinion, this is what happening right now as the trend of bitcoin price has been sky rocketing.  what do you think affects the price increase of bitcoin today?
.

I personally would say its a combination of several things happening and not only about popularity because bitcoin is already popular with lots of people knowing about it already but they choose not to act or the percentage that act in my opinion, is not enough to command the increase in price that is being witnessed. In addition to that, a lot of current players are putting in more money in areas of workable ICO projects and the forks that is happening every month.
571  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain future on: December 03, 2017, 08:21:36 PM
Hi Guys ! What you think about feature of blockchain startups?

Although I don't have the full knowledge of how the blockchain really works but my understanding and readings so far connotes that bitcoin is just a branch of what the blockchain is all about and if bitcoin could be as successful as what we see today, it's an indication of how deep the usefulness of what the blockchain can really be used for. I see a lot of developers relying on this technology to carry out unbiased surveys because of transparency which a lot of governments and companies are yet to get right.
572  Economy / Economics / Re: what is the reference bitcoin price on: December 03, 2017, 07:56:36 PM
For those of you who already know the world of forex (foreign exchange) maybe you have a year where the forex price refers, well that is still confused for me, from which the reference price for bitcoin? what factors support it?

Reference price varies based on the currency one is making the comparison. For someone whose easiest currency is USD then that is the reference price the same thing with someone in UK and the likes. However, this price are interrelated based on exchange rate difference as well as the forces of demand and supply which is the most important determinant of price in the crypto world
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do ICO owners liquidate ETH/BTC worth millions? on: December 02, 2017, 10:03:13 AM
To convert to fiat is quite easy and will use a typical developer as a case study and what he would likely do. Those two options of coins you have there, makes it very easy because its available on lots of exchange sites all you need is to locate a reputable sites that allow fiat conversion and use them. If that will be too noisy, you can try other option.

Another is to try peer to peer site where you can open a trade and start selling directly in bit within your locality where money would be deposited in your bank account. You can also start selling for other things you need because might be you want to convert to fiat then buy skrill, you can get someone who is willing to do that then you are good.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust pre-ICO programs? Has anybody invested in ICOs? on: December 01, 2017, 08:01:53 PM
If nobody is investing in ICOs, I am not sure there would be any ICO coming out every day because they believe that they can get something. But one thing is also sure in the midst of all the scams there are some projects that have stand tall.

I have participated in some which have turned out to worth it, while some I have been misled into believing its a great project only to discover that its just misrepresentation. Currently there are some penned down projects I am looking forward to. Its a risk but without risk, there is no gain.
575  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Linking fees to fiat? on: November 29, 2017, 06:20:39 AM
So fellow bitcointalk members, we have seen many people complain about 'high fees'. The problem here is that those users only take fiat into consideration, never thinking that it only costs 50k Satoshis for a transaction of an average size.

I was thinking of a solution for this, now i am not a technical person, so i need your input on this, if this is even possible or not. Can the core developers link the fee to say 0.05 cents in fiat terms? So if bitcoin is at 9k it will cost 0.00000555 btc to send a transaction, if bitcoin drops to 8k it will cost 0.00000625 btc to send a transaction and so on. Keeping the transaction fees to 0.05 cents at all times. If the transaction size is greater than 226 bytes and less than 500 bytes it will cost 10 cents and so on.

Is this possible via a soft fork? Should even this be implemented? Or will it work in the long run, i would like to hear your opinions on this.

You are very correct to have taken that and make such insinuation but the fact is there is no way we can separate the two because subconsciously, you just do the calculations before sending anything. Imagine wanting to send a transaction and I have to use $30 to send it which is equivalent to more than one month rake home of some people in the country. When that happen, you don't keep quiet because you can't just live with such high fees.
576  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Who should Fund Bitcoin Developers? on: November 29, 2017, 05:59:53 AM
Your proposal is good and worthy to be noted or even implemented but the concern here is that who are those to be responsible for such implementation. The way it is, decisions like that needs to be generally accepted by the community which is something difficult to guarantee at this time. I guess that is one of the many disadvantages of decentralization
577  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there any bitcoin fork on today..?? on: November 29, 2017, 05:35:27 AM
Be careful, it can be scam

Its really not scam in itself pertaining to the mail that was sent though because there was indeed another fork but it seems the developers behlnd it just decide not to do any publicity to carry everybody along. I had to also read and find out about it before getting the required information as to when the snap occur, and the exchange sites currently trading in its future pending the time its going to be available to the entire community.
578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Getting into bitcoin with only $25 on: November 29, 2017, 05:09:16 AM
I scraped together the little money I have and dove into bitcoin. My ambition is to make money trading altcoins and keep a bitcoin reserve. Can I even make it anywhere starting with such a small amount of money?

It does not matter the amount of money you are starting with, its the time you are starting. The same $25 you making reference to now, this time some say 8years ago could get you more than one btc but not today. So, if $25 is what you can afford, just go into it but don't expect the returns of someone who put in $100, $150 or even $1550 because that would be greediness which might lead you to seeking solution where it does not exist.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whales questions? on: November 29, 2017, 04:32:41 AM
How many bitcoins do I need to own to be classed as a bitcoin whale?

At what price do majority of these whales like to cash out sell bitcoin at?

How many bitcoins that banker Jamie Dimon has?

If most whales like to sell bitcoins at the overall target price wouldn't that mean huge sell walls everywhere and what will cause price of bitcoin price to dip crash? Is it buyers eating those sell walls or less volume?

Apart from Roger Ver is there a list of the biggest Bitcoin whales? These whales can crash the bitcoin price correct?

Firstly, I don't see any reason why your intentions is to be a whale whose motive is to manipulate price just for the purpose of profit. That's I see as toxic capitalism. I also think that the era to become a whale is gradually over as the whales of today didn't start last month neither do they start last year but at the point where no one was ready to bank on bitcoin as a worthy item that could bring any return. People don't become whales when things are looking glooming but otherwise. If you are convinced that is the way to go, consider other coins aside bitcoin.
580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big 5 Canadian Banks Will Not Accept Cryptocurrency on: November 29, 2017, 12:04:22 AM
Hey everyone,

I was speaking to a branch manager today from one of the top 5 Canadian banks. They were saying that there is now a directive going across all the banks that if anyone deposits money that comes from Cryptocurrency that their accounts will be frozen.

I wanted to ask you guys, especially the ones who have been into Cryptocurrency for years. Have you guys heard this issue before?

I look forward to your response.

Thank you,

BitTechNewbie

Banks are known to be hostile towards bitcoin users over the years and not until when they get a directive before they show their colour it has always been there and even not only Canada several other countries in the world face the same thing. Since that is the case, we can then tackle it the same way in those other countries which is mostly using a peer to peer options in cashing out your bitcoin and if it goes through the bank, it will merely be like citizen A sending money to citizen B which is not a crime in most countries of the world.
