totally not for mining. GTX970 card does around 20 MH/s in ETHash

No, it doesn't. The DAG is too large for a 970 to produce those numbers. I have owned a 970, The statement is false.

Quote
Doing a bit of googling suggests that each card will mine about $2.50 per day.

My rigs with 4 x 1070 are making a total of $2.5 per day, dunno from where did you get those figures. You will not even break even with free electricity. As for the price, It seems fair but could be lower. Do keep in mind people will assume US market rates here so if you are outside of US this might be a good deal for you.

Quote
As for buying it for a gaming rig, I would say its worth under $500.

Would you mind finding me one with specs like the OP posted?  Roll Eyes

I have 10 L3+. Yield is very small now. WHAT will advise you to do? Sell cheap or wait when the market comes to life?

The answer is quite a simple one TBH, Ask yourself, have you got your investment back? If Yes, Then sell them. If not Did you make more than 70% of the invested amount back? If yes, Sell them and call it a good lesson. If you haven't made more than 40% of your Money Back then are you willing to take the risk of the market going up? If yes then keep mining, else sell your miners and cut your losses. It's that simple nothing rocket science here Smiley

1 down about tree fiddy to go.

Awesome development! Theymos cares about the community after all. This can be improved tho, just like you mentioned in the "Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements" thread i.e 10 Merits to wear the signature. Now that the first step has been taken I believe the next step should be strict action against managers who are accepting higher ranked members who haven't earned any merit and going about their daily shitposting. These managers should be the immediate next target for the staff members and theymos.

A team should be made to investigate these managers and warn them for their wrongdoings. They will have a couple of weeks to adjust their policies, Failure to do so should result in a permanent ban.

Quote
Every time an account goes up 100 in Activity, remove 1 Merit. That means any normal person has to earn 1 Merit every 3 months to keep his rank, old inactive accounts aren't affected, and any spammer who got a Merit without deserving it, will lose it again unless he starts deleting many of his old posts.

It's kind of an overkill TBH Loyce. What we need to do now is have strict rules for running the bounty campaigns. Make it official that bounty managers should only accept people who have earned at least X amount of merit. Failure to do so will result in a ban. Something like this should be a good start point. We will see immediate results if something like this gets implemented.

Good to see a legendary guy in service section offering designing services. have you made any logos for previous projects if yes then link them in OP, it will add details.
Welcome mate:)

Unfortunately, not for an ICO. I have designed logos for other businesses which can be seen in my imgur gallery linked above. I wanted to keep the thread light* so decided to link the gallery instead of posting them here. Also, IMO 'rank' shouldn't be a factor in providing a service, you can be a mod and do things you are good at. You shouldn't shy away from things just because of your rank. Smiley

such proposal seems that it would be a bit of a programming nightmare.  I am NOT a programer

No this won't be a nightmare at all, It's about just adding a few new variables and some if-else statements. Shouldn't take more than a week to develop this. But since theymos is busy this may take a while to build. Sigh! Only if community development was allowed.

Hey, beggars can't be choosers.
586  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: September 13, 2018, 06:19:32 PM
I have a suggestion that I would like to make. How does a Rank Based sMerit Distribution for merit sources sound? E.g Right now merit sources receive a chunk of sMerits and they can distribute however they like. But what if they received sMerit in the following manner.

50 sMerits which can be distributed to only Newbies
50 sMerits which can be distributed to only Jr.Members and so on.

This should stop the people who are 'crying' over not receiving enough merit and pointing fingers towards bias distribution. I haven't gone through this thread, This may have been suggested before if it is I will delete this post right away.

Put price per week + telegram.

No experienced manager will do that... You might wanna change the rule and discuss things privately. Unless you aren't looking for a good manager. Good luck!

The burn system can then be used to burn Phoenix themselves. Burning Phoenix at that point would remove that Phoenix from the circulating supply and release them over a longer period of time, this could be incrementally longer each time the burn event occurs. This would also temporarily boost the then value of Phoenix as there would be a reduction in the total number of circulating Phoenix.

Early burners would get a extra Phoenix in Ash the amount of reward for burning would keep decreasing until at last when nearing the total supply of Phoenix at which point the excess reward would be 0.

Hmm, So if i understand this correctly Phoenix will work something like this.

1) Early burners would get Phoenix plus the 'promised' ash.
2) People will keep burning cryptos till the last phoenix is given out.
3) The 'Promised' ashs in the meanwhile will keep evolving into 'Phoenixes'.

Will these 'evolved' Phoenixes generate new 'ashs'? Have you thought of something to make this a continuous process instead of it stopping at one stage?

Listen mate! Don't like the idea then stop fucking around in this thread. Ask nicely and you will be explained. I'm not going to sit here and read your fucked up language. Clear?

Quote
But my question is if the people who want to destroy a coin for fun or whatever their fucked up reason is, why do they want/expect to get rewarded?

First of all, this wasn't pointed at you. I was referring to other people who would want to burn up their coins. Second, I do like the idea of 'reduction in supply', I have studied economics myself. Anyway if you feel like I overstepped, Apologies. I am not one of those assholes who would feel belittled by apologizing. Anyway moving on.

Quote
there can only be a certain number of Phoenix that will exist.
Got it, But what happens when the Last Phoenix is given out? How will the burning work then? Bitcoin has 'fees' which will reward the miners, What will the 'burners' have?

I don't know if I fully agree with this.  I think a lot of inventors are looking to get rich and not just to advance technology--history is full of people like that.

But that is because of the capitalist nature of the society. In a society where 'profit' means everything, you will breed people who will only care about the 'money'. But what happens when the tables are turned? Something like the Soviet Union. People were hungry for Power cuz 'money' was guaranteed at that time. Make a 'moneyless Decentralized' society and reward those who come up with brilliant ideas and solutions, I bet people will even come up with cures for cancer too. There was an interesting video on this topic by Kurzgesagt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvskMHn0sqQ I will recommend you to check it out.
593  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Help me DESTROY Bitcoin! on: September 12, 2018, 07:07:47 PM
Changing the topic a bit here But this isn't true 'burning' IMO. What happens when we master the art of quantum computing in the next 5-10 decades? A quantum computer will be able to crack these 'Burn' addresses and retrieve the bitcoins. What you are doing here is basically donating your bitcoins to person/entity who will avail these bitcoins in the future. Consider it a sort of smart contract  Cheesy
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Attractive price for used AMD GPUs on: September 12, 2018, 02:37:11 PM
TBH it will be hard for you to get your hands on these models at those mentioned prices. Most farm owners would have already cleared their stock like a few months ago. Bump the prices up by $20 for each and you might get lucky.
I think if the ETH goes down to lower 100 , we will be able to see those prices on Ebay.

That's a big 'if'. BTW what kind $ per KW/h do you have and how many cards are you looking to buy? If you are planning to mine ETH only then why not go for the asics? given that you have access to cheap energy.

I've been burst 7k on bitconnect, so i'm not really interested into this kind of things, but because those 2 are different and 1% daily was unsustainable but 5% monthly looks like much more real, I would like to know what you think about it and if any of you had good experiences in similar investment.

The 5% monthly does sound real, but there is no way to guarantee it. Unless they have told you that there is a risk of losing all of your money, You shouldn't invest with them. Cuz trading comes with a risk. Nothing is guaranteed while you are trading. No matter how good you are. Also, 20% a month is most likely a scam, cuz even virgin coins don't carry a premium of 20% above the market price.

I will recommend you to stay away from both. Since you have already lost money with bitconnect. Just keep this in mind, There isn't an easy way to make X% per month while doing nothing. Only a real Business can give you results like that.

1 we could use paper wallets as banknotes and make some casascius

How will you make sure some dude hasn't copied the seed of the wallet? You will need a trust system like nothing we have seen before for this to work. As for your idea, I think it can be done, Floating/Underwater cities will be a thing in the future. I am also sure Floating/Underwater countries will pop up in the future as well. The United States of bitcoin could be the first one if it can gain traction. I wonder what kind of investment will be required for something like this to be done in the international waters.

Hmm, Only if we can get access to one of satoshi's wallet  Grin

598  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Mascot on: September 10, 2018, 08:45:17 PM
I don't agree with the idea of having a mascot. Have you seen a mascot for Paypal? or a Bank? Bitcoin is a serious thing and shouldn't be affiliated with things like 'Mr.Bit' etc. There are plenty of 'Bitcoin' logos you can use for the purposes of advertising etc, I don't see why can't you use those Unless you are targetting 6 years old and less. Anyway, you can still find plenty of bitcoin mascots by doing a quick google search. Look over at Shutterstock, they have got a few of them or even better hire someone from Fiverr to make one for you.

Yes, piggy for example made a sql tool for getting everyone's merit history (loyceV did similar and vod has some sort of thing but that one might be more difficult to use)...

This still would require the 'time' check, The day the merit system was introduced and the user's registration date should be checked against each other. If the account was registered after the merit-system was implemented and has less than 100 activity, the plugin shouldn't filter them but then again the bounty hunters will get away who don't hesitate to create another account after getting banned. So it defeats the purpose of the plugin altogether while just showing the date when the user registered could be a better thing here. If someone sticks out the Reader could click the 'Read-Anyway' button.
