Avoid Avalon way over priced and inefficient compared to S5s.
62  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BFL fucked us over again (redux) on: May 30, 2015, 10:13:13 AM
EMC hash rate going down. and difficulty poised to make a near 3% drop. I wonder if they have any unlisted hashing power that might dropping as well.

Inefficient miners. Means EMC is going to close up shop. We all know what they use to mine. Monarchs and whatever BFL crap and they won't last for dead loss. But really it is inefficient miners they can't afford to keep them running. Game over thank fricking Dog. Shit maybe they are packing them up and sending them to Oregon Mines? Did Matthew Carson and Josh Zerlan not bump into one another along the way?
63  Other / Meta / Re: Nominate (insert name here) to the default trust list on: May 30, 2015, 09:37:04 AM
NO ONE.

Dump the default. Let the community set the list. Stop playing games let the community decide who to trust.
64  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury - Mining Lighbulb on: May 30, 2015, 09:18:56 AM
No.

1) It won't happened

Yes.

Still, I don't want one.

Why can't a GENERIC light bulb mine to p2pools and a split in the revenue could be arranged right?

So many potential models here we don't have to follow a BitFury version.

So it could happen.
It could work to decentralize mining.
No fabricator would want to lose control over their current share of hashpower.
No fabricator would want to have completely decentralized units like the light bulb flood the market and cut the possibility for them to have a reasonable share of the hash rate.

How hard would it be to go generic?
65  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UK Mining Colocation on: May 30, 2015, 08:59:08 AM
Yeah but looking for a UK hosting is difficult as they charge A LOT for elec...

This is what I'm trying to get around.

I'm hoping Dogie anwsers.  I did not think miners you would be able to reclaim.  If as a individual for personal mining you can get that vat back that's big.

But either look at hosting center (IE you buy a miner and send it to their location).  Advantage you can buy pretty much any miner and host it there.

Or you can look at hosting where it's all set up.  Basically you pay and they switch it to your pool choices.  And you own the miner.  Mr. Lee's hosting is a example - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934581.0

VAT? Dogie?

Not a good person to ask. Ask Pekatete if you want the low down on VAT and the UK. Pek is properly acquainted with the proper application and reporting of VAT as a professional with credentials. Dogie has no professional credentials with regards to VAT application and reporting and would not be the right personal at all to ask.
66  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: i need a cheap effective rig on: May 30, 2015, 08:55:43 AM
Heed the warning.

Buy BTC if you want to play with your money, if you are willing to lose that money that is, and have a chance to recoup your investment longer term. That is a reasonable risk. Mining is dead for small to mid-sized mining. If you are not buying petahash with cheap power you are not going to make anything back.

Basically what we are saying is that if you want to mine bitcoins at a profit you may have to buy something like this mine:

Your going to need tens of thousands of dollars to get stated.
Think of mining like the lottery. Your "hash rate" determines how many lotto tickets you get and therefore determines your odds. It is possible to find a block mining on your home computer, but it is very unlikely. Just like buying 1 lottery ticket. The mines you are competing with are at a scale that gives them the equivalent of thousands of lotto tickets.

Let us see if they LOCK this thread as well.

Come on Matthew, Tom, Terrence. Lock it up.

This was run by the same scammers that run Minersource, don't expect anything back from Bobsag.

Ah... the relief of it all seeing things being eroded.

Could you guys work faster at dismantling EMC Pool? (owned by the now defunct BFL)

I want to get pics of it going down the drain and hitting zero miners before the end of the month. Thanks.

eclipsemc.com

Compare with the 25th's of May.

https://eclipsemc.com/

I just took this.

Take a look, the day I posted the Band of Meme's pic, the EMC site had close to a hundred extra miners that are now missing.
I can only assume either 100 mining units walked away or it is being dismantled as we speak.

Edit: Lets hope Josh will pay the server bill at the end of the month. (Like he apparently did last November/December when people were messing with him over his Military career and he allowed the BFL site to lapse.) I would hate to see the claims if they don't let people drain the hot/cold wallet before then.

bcp19, do you work for Butterfly Labs ?
Yep, started there last Sept, it was bound to come out at some point.  PG can confirm it.  Beyond that, a lot of nibbknot's statement is completely false.  Since you tin-foil hat types will believe his/her lies, I won't waste my breath.

71  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: May 30, 2015, 07:00:21 AM
On Topic:

We don't need "rules" we need "enforcement". Fair enforcement. A better sticky would be a rating system or evaulation system of Moderators so that we can have some feedback from the community on what we WANT from our mods. The real breakdown is not what is over the line it is the inconsistency of moderation. You want to see improved systems?

Do what students do at the University level:

http://www.oir.uconn.edu/onlineset/onlineset.html

I double dare you to implement this.

Biggest ways to improve the system.

1. Regular feedback and reporting of inconsistency in the moderation activity from the community.
2. Regular review of feedback by the admins of the forum and to train and or remove ineffective moderators.
3. REMOVE THE DEFAULT TRUST and let TRUST be open to all no hierarchy. Too much time is wasted on who is or isn't on the default list.
4. Have a wider range of volunteers as mods not just friends of friends / old boys and have a mentoring system for mods in place.
5. REMOVE ALL PAID SIGNATURES. Causes unusual amount of spam.
6. REMOVE ALL PAID IN THREAD ADS see Dogies guides as an example. Causes an unusual amount of spam.

That alone will help REDUCE the amount of needless moderation required and mods and admins can them work on more pressing issues. Too much time devoted to this is allowing the quality of the forums to degrade. More noise less signal.

====

Off Topic:

Removed at the request of Moderators however it was done in protest.

Isn't Bicknellski* a thread hijacker? He hijack most threads to attack QS and Dogie. Exposing their scams(if any) is ok but he hijacks every threads. I thought this is against forum rule but I don't see any action by mods. I hope he got a warning.

* https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=76550

Well that really depends on what your opinion of what hijacking a thread is.  If it's posting off-topic, then yes, you are right, that is against the forum rules (in the first post in this thread).  On posting off-topic, I've seen you do that a few times before.  I've seen QS do it as well.  I've seen Dogie do it A LOT.  The mods seem rather selective on who gets in trouble for that.

For another possibility of your definition of hijacking a thread, if for example, I make a thread that it's my opinion that all miner manufacturers must make the outside of their miners purple, and you become the major participate in the thread (but you are posting on-topic), I don't see anything against that, in the rules, nor in my opinion either.

I would think if the intent of your post is about your opinion that Bicknellski is attacking Quickseller and Dogie, that should be posted in Meta and is off-topic in this thread (which is against forum rules).  If the intent of your post is about questioning a user breaking forum rules, I think this is the right place.  You should separate those 2 concepts into the proper board areas, so you don't break the forum rules.

72  Other / Meta / Re: Are Forum signatures really useful ? on: May 29, 2015, 03:49:04 AM
If signature campaigns are banned:

1. Accounts won't be bought/sold as people mainly buy farm accounts for signature campaigns.
2. Accounts won't be held as collateral and some members will even stop lending due to this.
3. Members (except scammers) will stop creating new accounts as now their account won't have any value.
4. Activity as well would be affected

I support banning signature campaigns if the first 3 points do take place as I don't support these account sales and find it immoral to farm accounts just to earn few bits.

Yes there are many REASONS for it and many reasons that would benefit the forum if we were to remove the scourge of paid signatures. Are any of the mods participating in signature campaigns or account selling?

Keep sigs. Kill sig adverts.
73  Other / Meta / Re: Who is the little bitch who added that POS Quickseller to default trust again? on: May 28, 2015, 11:53:57 PM
Okay I'll take that challenge give me the holidays let us see how anecdotal observation holds up to close scrutiny shall we. The point is bias in the application of the rules where "friends" and likely alt accounts of our mods skate free. The patterns exists let us see.

New Meta thread.

Who is Quickseller?  Nobody knows... number 1 reason he shouldn't be on any trust list.

Funny. Some people don't think it is newsworthy. I wonder why?
76  Other / Meta / Re: Are Forum signatures really useful ? on: May 28, 2015, 02:19:12 PM
Disabling signatures entirely would affect innocent users as well. A way to disable signature ads specifically would be good.  Ignore certain signatures (which would ignore all of that type), and maybe an auto ignore at a certain point is probably the best solution.

Or force all revenue for ads to go to the forum and not let users or 3rd parties advertize in this manner. Ban all campaigns etc. Personal ads in a sig promoting your shop etc is fine but these account sellers / sig campaigns are spam inducing and for the most part truly annoying. Even worse was Dogie's format of selling ads within his guides. Please clear this crap out make all ads be a revenue stream for the forum that way you can regulate more easily and it will reduces the spam a great deal.
77  Other / Meta / Re: Who is the little bitch who added that POS Quickseller to default trust again? on: May 28, 2015, 01:56:37 PM
What assurance do you have to back up that Badbear is Quickseller 100%? I think all if not most of your arguments are either wrong or irrelevant.

Rather than starting a thread, you could have checked the default trust list to see that Quickseller is trusted by Tomatocage, and then Pmed Tomatocage asking for a reason why they added Quickseller.

Better question who the hell is Quickseller and what other accounts does he control?

For someone to gain a Default Trust place through anyone or to act as an escrow or be a pillar or paragon of the community why should he hide behind several anonymous ID's? That is circumspect and the height of hypocrisy given how many times Quickseller is quick to call out shill accounts as scam artists. Why should we trust anyone that hides his identity?

Will this get deleted as well? I suppose it will.

===

Techshare is correct in "BITCOINTALK STAFF SELECTIVELY ENFORCE THE RULES AND IGNORE CLEAR INSTANCES OF ABUSE TO PROTECT THOSE WITHIN THEIR PERSONAL CLIQUE"

Quickseller / Dogie / Muhammed Zakir are a quite the little echo chamber... there is a long list of these sorts of people being given preferential treatment while others are held to to the "letter" of the law. Seen it too many times across too many threads maybe it is time for Theymos to clean house a bit.

Only thing that's making me salty is the fact that you two haven't gotten a room yet, with the way you're carrying on here.

You two come off as a bitter married couple that likes to snipe at each other, then hate-fuck afterwards.

It's pathetic. Both of you.

Meh.

Guys a fraudster let the UK gov't sort em out.  All that matters really is this guy can't be trusted plenty of evidence for that now.

As for Zipkin anyone willing to throw out death threats is willing to pay for the forum to be taken down. Anyone think he isn't capable of hiring someone to do that is mistaken.
