601  Economy / Reputation / Re: SBF-Ross Ulbricht on: March 24, 2023, 05:04:18 PM
SBF clearly belongs in prison for the rest of his life. The amount of money he grifted and directed at woke causes while stifling Bitcoin’s price to pump shitcoins is absolutely shocking. It shows the wisdom of these liberal elite college grads who think they know everything. The fact the Ross, a man with actual skills who was promoting freedom is in jail, while SBF who is one of the biggest financial criminals in history sits at home eating Mom’s cooking shows just how crooked the system is and who, particularly SBF’s bought liberal politicians, are willing to sell out the people for their own financial security.

Unfortunately it's nothing new.  This is being going on for decades now, but the American people have been manipulated, propagandized, and deceived into being too complicit to even notice.

Obama, Biden, both Clintons, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnel, and Bush 43 should all be in jail.  There's nothing liberal about the Democrats I mentioned, and there's nothing conservative about these Republicans.  These are corrupt puppets of Power Money.  As George Carlton would say, when interests align there's no need for a conspiracy.

It's easy to find all the corrupt swamp-rats in Washington these days; just look to see who supports sending money and weapons to Ukraine, and who is pushing the agenda of the Climate Industrial Complex.  Throw the bums out!

604  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bisq - Exchange, Decentralized. on: March 22, 2023, 08:11:00 PM
Of course, there always has to be some sharing of information, but as you deal with other people directly, you are less exposed to information going to third parties.

Yeah, and your personal data is only disclosed if you're trading BTC to fiat.  I like to swing trade BTC for XMR as a way to grow my BTC holdings, and of course there's no personal data shared during those transactions, only BTC and XMR addresses.

I will install the application again and explore it further. And to realize in Europe how dynamic the platform is.

You're sure to find a bunch of offers for Euros, I see many with payments in Revolut, Swift, and Wise, and I'm sure there are other payment types that I don't know about. I don't know for a fact, but I'd wager there are more offers for Euros than USD.

Payments with Amazon Gift Card, have you never used it or is it not common in your area? I remember seeing that option there, which I thought was interesting.

I've never used the gift card method myself, but they are common for USD as well as Euros, and yes I see many of them.
605  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bisq - Exchange, Decentralized. on: March 22, 2023, 05:05:04 PM
I happened to install Bisq once, but found it a bit complex and confusing to work with.

It can be a bit confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty simple to use.  The great thing about Bisq is that they have a lot of really good tutorials, and the team tends to be very active on the matrix chat, so getting help is pretty easy.

Overall, what do you guys think of Bisq?

It's not perfect, there are issues that pop up once in a while.  Depending on the general market, getting bites on your offers can take a while some times.  Other times they get snagged up pretty darn quick.  If your offers have attractive rates, they get snagged up fairly quickly, but no where near as fast as the big CEXs.  I think this mostly has to do with how many (or few, rather) people are using Bisq.  Once the software is able to attract more users, a lot of these issues will go away.

I think it's a good solution to buy in P2P model without registrations and KYC?
In terms of privacy, how do you rate it?

The privacy features are second to none.  There's no KYC and they don't store any of your personal information on a server, not even the details of your payment accounts.  All that information stays on your local machine, and the only time any information is disclosed, it's only to your trade partner while the trade is open.  That means there are no servers to get hacked and no data breaches that can leak your info.

Once you set up an account on Bisq, the only identifier other peers will see is an onion address.  If you take or make a BTC to Fiat offer, the other peer will see your name and email address.  But again, the information is only visible to that peer during the time the trade is open.

What payment method do you usually use, to be as anonymous as possible?

I'm a US resident, so for USD Zelle or Strike are the most commonly preferred methods of payment.  Obviously they're not anonymous since both require KYC to set up, but still fairly private since you don't have to disclose much about yourself.  There are anonymous ways you can exchange fiat for BTC, such as USPS money orders which are safe and don't require the use of real names (unless you're the recipient and want to deposit the MO digitally.)  The only truly anonymous ways to trade BTC for Fiat is face to face cash transactions, and there a few of those offers near and around my area.
606  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ledger nano with electrum - from old to new PC on: March 20, 2023, 11:13:21 PM
Electrum may connect to the Ledger without a firmware update, it's worth trying it first.  If you have any trouble connecting, then you'll need to use Ledger Live to update the firmware.

Recently though, the pc where I installed electrum is quite unusable

You may be able to pull the hard drive from your old PC and extract the wallet file, if you feel it's worth the trouble.  Of course you can use the Ledger to create a new Electrum wallet file, but any labels you applied to addresses or transactions will be lost, and any frozen coins or addresses will no longer be locked.

As for "accounts" created through derivation paths, if you used multiple derivation paths, you'll need to create a new Electrum wallet file for each one.
607  Economy / Lending / Re: loan 500 € on: March 20, 2023, 09:02:45 PM
well i  understand that is not convenient collateral i won't say it is   however this is the only collateral i have that i can give  as collateral for my loan
i hope you understand

You have no collateral, zero, zip, zilch.  If it's not worth anything to the lender then it's not collateral.  If you haven't been able to sell it in the last year of trying, then it's not collateral.  English is hard, I know.
608  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 20, 2023, 08:14:16 PM
Base on that transaction that you posted, and the other guy on Github who's funds were swept in the same transaction, I can only assume that your seed was compromised.  Did you sign up for any give-away or stake in some air-drop, or something of the sort?  Did you divulge your seed to any entity that promised you a reward of some type?
I never did anything with my seed at all

What about some other wallet software?  The fellow on Github who's funds were also stolen mentioned he had installed a wallet on different machine, I'm assuming he means some software other than Electrum.  Have you used some other software to access your Electrum wallet, possibly?

It's rather odd, because the other guy was using the Android software, and you indicated you're using Windows Desktop software.  The issue gives me the impression that a hacker gained access to your private keys or seed phrase, but to have done so on two separate platforms (operating systems) is rather unlikely.

I encourage you to think back to any risky behavior you may have engaged in that could have led to your being phished.

Yes, I'm simple like that.  Not that my NFL predications are much better than my EPL predictions, but I do admit to being more knowledgeable about the NFL than just about any other sport I follow.  But even that isn't sayin much!  Grin

611  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How do I create a channel with a receiving capacity >0? on: March 20, 2023, 01:52:29 AM
I'm no LN expert, so I am trying to figure out how to use my Electrum wallet to receive LN payments for my background removal service in another thread.

The issue is, all of my channels are being created with "Receiving capacity: 0". I am frequently getting "path not found" errors whenever trying to pay some services using LN, which I guess is the most impactful when I try to use the submarine swap feature that's built-in to Electrum, which says it can increase the receiving capacity, but the transaction also fails with a "path not found error".

I'd hate to set up another wallet software just for LN so I want to figure out how to di this with what I have already.

It's been a while since I've used Electrum for LN, I set up headless server with LND, Loop, Boltz, and RTL as the front end.  Not sure if it's better honestly, requires a lot more maintenance obviously.  Nevertheless, I think nc50lc is on the right track; that error is indicative of Boltz server connection errors.

If you can't or don't want to do submarine swaps, I recommend swapping LN funds for on-chain funds using Robosats, it's P2P, no KYC, and easy to use.

That definitely looks like a scammer's transaction.  Multiple types of addresses indicates that the private keys with UTXOs were swept all at once, and with a fee of 50 sats/vByte.  Only a scammer would apply such an expensive fee, to make sure that no one can replace the transaction with a higher fee.

Do you remember where you downloaded the software from?
614  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bisq - Exchange, Decentralized. on: March 18, 2023, 04:09:23 PM
~

Interesting development regarding running Bisq on a headless server; one of the contributors just posted a guide to set up a headless Bisq instance on a remote server, and included instructions on how to access it from another device with a head-up display.  The process uses a third party, open-source (GNU) software, XPRA to connect to the headless instance.  I have not tried this, so I don't know how well it works, but it seems like a great rainy-day project.

The setup instructions can be found here:  https://github.com/apemithrandir/self-hosting-guide/blob/main/headless-bisq/GUIDE.md

616  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 07:14:01 PM
Moving to Tor-only after the fact is similar to moving a seed from a software wallet to 'cold storage'.

Excellent analogy.  I suspect you're right about the way they infiltrated Chipmixer's systems.  But as for the timing, it's interesting how these things regularly happen right after reports surface of their own shortcomings, failures, and downright abuses.  It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to distract us from something else...
617  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 07:03:20 PM
According the Department of Justice (yeah, that's what they actually call themselves missing the Orwellian irony,) he's been charged, but the press release makes no mention of an arrest.  I don't know if Vietnam has an extradition policy with the US or Germany, so it may be difficult for them to impose their injustice upon him.  Let's hope.

Coinciding with the ChipMixer takedown efforts, Minh Quốc Nguyễn, 49, of Hanoi, Vietnam, was charged today in Philadelphia with money laundering, operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and identity theft, connected to the operation of ChipMixer.

I am afraid now.

So are the FEDs!  Their own institutions are failing and dropping like flies.  Signature Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, First Republic Bank...  Calling these institutions banks is actually a joke; they are dispensaries of fraudulently printed fiat, who've focused on spending our wealth on woke ideologies with absolutely no recourse.  If the FED wants to minimize the damage they caused, they'll have to harass the people.  And the ones they'll harass first are the ones that figured out how to strip them of their power; us bitcoiners!
619  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 03:27:36 PM
bad news for signature participants!  Tongue

It's bad news for privacy proponents.  Jobs come and go, but reliable and trustworthy mixing services are few and far between.  Let's hope that Chipmixer didn't actually suffer any losses, and they'll be back with new servers in a more secure location.

Beware of a scam attempt by member Moto9999.

He asked Shasan for a bitcoin loan, indicating he has bitcoin to use as collateral, but in order to get the collateral he asked Shasan to create an account on some shady site.  This is an obvious scam attempt, the bitcoin is very likely just a fake number on a fake exchange that claims to have been in business since 2018, but the website was just created last month.
