641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mom won 50,000$ in Lottery on: March 01, 2024, 05:27:51 PM

good for her. she is even luckier to have a son who didn't actually take advantage of what she initially thought was her win from the scratch-off ticket. If he was a bad son, he would just let her believe its just $5k.

it was said she wanted to invest the money, i hope his son will once again help her. she is smart to have figured out those answers to the scratch-off ticket but she needs assistance also.
642  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible to inherit a gambling debt? on: March 01, 2024, 04:49:35 PM

Yes, it's possible here in our country, I know of people who inherited their parents' debt and the successors have to sell all the deceased properties to pay for their debts leaving nothing to all his successors, this is bad for the family, a gambler can play all he wants as long as he is not taking a loan to gamble because in case there something happen to him and he is big debt in gambling, the family is left paying for his debt and this is added burden to the family.
In this life, we don't know what's going to happen tomorrow so never gamble coming from loans.
It is a case-to-case basis in every country but here in our country, it's legal for the loan giver to impose the debt for the family of the deceased.

even in the death of the addict, he still brings shame to the family. this is a disappointment to the daughters and sons, they have to pay father's mistake. i'm sure this is also happening in my country and the creditors usually will take the valuable stuff of his father.

it's another awful job for the creditors to do something like this. if i were them i would likely avoid giving loans to fathers who gamble or just don't give loans to someone who can't provide collateral.
643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: your perception about gambling on: February 29, 2024, 08:44:40 PM
This idea actually started when i saw a pastor playing bet9ja after a brief evangelism and one elderly woman made a side comment ( That even man of GOD also play gamble) .

They are human after all although if that type of person (pastor or any religious head) enters the gambling world, they should at least try to make it secret since they are handling a responsibility for their religion. I can compare it to the status of some police officers and personnel where in most countries, they are prohibited from being involved in gambling but the truth, is most of them are involved in gambling but not just showing or exposing it to the public.

But the question is, is it a big deal for us? Just follow your perception and don't mind other people.

especially in our country where most of these police officers gamble. some of them even are under the payroll of those casino owners. well, they are still human. many good people actually gamble, it's just that they don't do it all the time. it could be that they are just bored or tempted to check their luck just a person who suddenly buys a scratch ticket.

i don't mind it either. it's not my money they spend anyway. if they become irresponsible because of gambling that's when there has to be intervention.
644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the Season of Airdrops? on: February 29, 2024, 07:04:01 PM
you can only expect an airdrop to have a good value if they airdrop tokens to those holders of some popular tokens. i can only see its value increasing because of the bull run and if it's not for the bull run, those tokens would be dumped.

but as you can see only BTC goes all the way up while the rest are just tiny steps upwards. this i think the crypto ecosystem season is ET season. and we are just going to wait for more altcoins that will be approved for ETF.
645  Economy / Economics / Re: I went London i have questions now the wealthy life there on: February 29, 2024, 06:45:27 PM

maybe that part of EU is not really in crisis. they did break with EU years ago and i guess they escaped the crisis and the monarch preserved their wealth. but where in EU  has the crisis so far? i saw the news where there are also lots of crimes and then the farmers are also littering their capitols with pigshit.

you can only see show-offs on facebook but if they are eating out in restaurants then maybe they are really not feeling the crisis. even eating in mcdonalds today is a luxury.
646  Economy / Reputation / Re: What is happening in SportBet.one topic? on: February 29, 2024, 06:21:01 PM

they all wake up the same day and then talk to each other in an ANN thread lol
the casino didn't get much attention despite their age. marketing a sports betting platform is very challenging but hiring a bumping service is making their reputation bad instead.

Sportsbet.one has been around this forum for a while, they should have known already that services like this don't work in the forum.
647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports that you don’t watch but you keep placing bets on: February 29, 2024, 05:46:52 PM
NBA is the easiest to bet since there are lots of fans everywhere who can tell which team will win. i can just call my cousins who are always updated about NBA games but most of the time i just visit NBAA threads and look for those posts and see which one they think will win. i don't even have to watch the games. sadly, it's not always a win but there are times that i get 3/3 that wins. if it's a good enough practice, i can continue doing it.
648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My thoughts on the latest news about TON on: February 29, 2024, 05:03:54 PM

what you are saying is that TON and SEC are collaborating in creating this token. if so then that means Gary is holding a huge bag of TON and he is profiting from this. and this time they are trying to distribute TON for its adoption to the users of telegram.

with this news, i think we will be seeing a lot of podcasters and influencers going to be creating their own channel to develop and make a profit through their channel with TON.
649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: February 28, 2024, 09:10:06 PM
I saw an interview with Ryan Garcia today where he was saying he wants to fight Suga Sean O'Malley.  He claims he'd easily knock him out in boxing (maybe true) and wants to challenge himself by fighting Suga Sean in MMA.  I think this must just be some sort of a PR move to try and build up some hype around his next fight or something.  I don't think there's a chance in hell that Ryan Garcia could knock out Suga Sean in the octagon, but I'd sure like to see him try.  This is the sort of crossover fight the sports need.

I think if I'm not mistaken, O'Malley was the first one to call up Ryan or something to the effect that he can defeat a pro boxer. O'Malley is going on the route of Connor, running his mouth and trying to be the next face of MMA.

And with that, Ryan will not shy on that kind of trash talking in the media, he has been dub as a social media King Ry. But in any case, he has a difficult fight ahead of him in Haney. He needs to focus on this fight if he wanted to have his name in the discussions to be one of the great not just known to be in a social media boxer.

nothing yet is agreed for both to fight. if Dana permits, i guess it's cool to see another cross-fight like this. Dana already wasted his chance with Francis Ngannou, hope he will not miss it this time.

Ryan i think will have a higher rate of knocking out Suga than Haney. Omalley afaik likes to engage which is what Ryan likes doing in the middle. he will be unlucky once again if Sean gets him first just like Tank did. Ryan still has a fast hand and all it takes is just one hit to Suga.
650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something is seriously wrong with bitcoin markets. No liquidity? Should we sell? on: February 28, 2024, 08:53:55 PM

if you expect another drop, it's up to you if you want to sell. many of the holders seem to want to keep holding. but there are already speculations that there will be a slight correction after this rally.

it's just something to worry about though because we know every halving the prices will go to heights. so when there is no liquidity, it means everyone is just holding on. and it's going to be harder and harder to see BTC acquired and prices will keep going up.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you & friends thought of engaging on any unfamiliar activity for gambling on: February 28, 2024, 07:33:09 PM

looks like a game when we were just kids and the loser pays random pokemon cards from his stash.  if we were just paying cash at that time, it's gonna be considered gambling.

as long as you are not seen in public paying money/ exchanging cash in public while you keep playing to shoot stones in that circle, you are good to keep playing.  however why not just play cards inside the backyard where any authorities wouldn't be able to see you? this is if you are willing to keep playing after all you are all friends just playing around.
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s Soaring Heights and the Unpredictable Journey Ahead on: February 28, 2024, 07:03:18 PM
-cut-
Bitcoin may extend to $62,000, but the risks are high, especially with the increasing ownership that could shake digital currencies at any moment.
-cut-
I am using btc as indicator as well, but can you explain what you mean by this? Because i am having a hard time grasping what do you mean by increasing ownership, and how would that be an indicator for risk?

-cut-
It is a mistake to rush and enter now until we see the market’s reaction to Bitcoin’s movement and its indicators BTC
It's always risky. There's no such thing as a safe time to invest except in hindsight. That's why people profit from it in the first place, they take a high risk if they want high reward. It has been risky from the start, even though it wouldn't seem like that looking at the chart. But there was way more fear and risk back then. People who think they would have invested if they knew, they most likely wouldn't, for the same reason they are not investing now. Because compared to back then, we are now in safe zone, and people think this is dangerous time to invest.

it may dive as a correction which investors may think is a risk but i think it will only take a few weeks and the price will still keep on going up. remember that halving is yet to come which makes this unpredictable journey a bit exciting and profitable for a holder.

the halving will still have a major effect on BTC. regardless of how much it is now, a little dip for a while will not matter for long-term holders for they know it's still going to keep soaring high. and most important of all, the altcoins you hold are also going to soar high.
653  Economy / Economics / Re: Is fossil fuels REALLY running out quickly, or do we still have time? on: February 28, 2024, 05:55:48 PM

fossil fuels running out will be the end of OPEC countries including Russia. they still can dig deeper to get more natural gas down there. there are more in the Middle East, they have been the source of it since time.

conspiracy theories do have a point. but i think WEF is not just controlling people, but maybe they wanna see the economy of OPEC countries fall too. if all countries don't use oil and just rely on solar and wind, they'd be out of the picture. but this is going to be a terrible transition for countries going into renewable energy.
654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEY FLOW Trends in CRYPTOCURRENCIES on: February 28, 2024, 05:37:14 PM
Isn't all the money going back to USDT after the hype is over?  even in the correction period, the money goes to the stablecoins but after this transfer, investors would want to move to something else that is unknown. but all trends die out, especially in the bear market and if you stay in crypto as always then the money flows goes to usdt still.

dune.com is interesting since they show piecharts and transfer trends which you can see details.
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you in your holdings? on: February 28, 2024, 04:46:48 PM

i have just the same rate like 6/10 but i'm always ready to sell them all when the time is right. but i'm confident enough that these tokens are not going to become a scam in the future since they are already up on the market since 2017. so even if i don't sell them before the bear market begins, these tokens will still have a value. but this is going to be a gamble too especially when the future isn't very much unknown to us.

$Sol, $Matic, $Bgb, and $Doge. seems a good choice of investment though but to all we invest, it's still going to be different depending on the price we start buying these altcoins.
656  Economy / Economics / Re: Why no info about how serious are USA financial situation now ? on: February 27, 2024, 06:22:09 PM
It is weird to see a small number of people who are still in denial specially since this is not the first time US economy is in such a catastrophic situation on the brink of another collapse.
It is even weirder to see bitcoiners in denial. I would understand other people but you'd expect those who are into something called Bitcoin that was born out of the ashes of the US economic collapse of 2008 wouldn't deny another similar situation!

At the end of the day, despite being weird this is not that surprising at all.
When we look back, this is just history repeating itself. In the years leading to the 2008 crisis, there were loads of people who denied closeness of collapse and every day that it hadn't happened yet they would have looked at the markets and numbers and said "See the banks are are fine and growing, stock market is green and booming, blah blah blah". Grin
Of course there is always others who see past the manipulated stats by these fraudulent centralized organizations.

What's even more odd is people making all of these claims, yet back it up with absolutely nothing.  It's quite clear those who've got knowledge and experience in the space, and those who just go off their gut feelings, or a few news articles.

the billionaires know what's going to happen which is why they are selling their holdings, even JPMorgan sold its shares. Bezos sold his $2B Amazon stocks for the 3rd time this month. they know how bad things but if the government makes a statement about an economic collapse, people will buy in panic.

but worse of all, if the US collapses the rest of the world could go to its knees too. is a huge responsibility for the US as well so its best to just prepare for something to happen if you are already seeing signs.
657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Previous ATH achieve before bull? on: February 27, 2024, 06:04:09 PM

i'm sure we are already in bull run. you can see the prices of coins are already up. BTC is $56K, only 4k left and we hit the previous ATH. if you bought BTC below $30k last year, you can already feel how safe your capital is.

bull run usually boosts after halving but this time seems different and this could be because of the investor's speculation to hit way above $100k as institutions are coming into crypto. you can wait til there is a correction probably in the next few weeks or a month to buy but after halving, i think green candles could go way higher.
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cash (Paper Money) vs Monero on: February 27, 2024, 04:24:53 PM
Cash was once considered an effective way to hide transactions in the real world. With the increased use of surveillance technology, it is not as effective as it once used to be. In today's world, almost all transactions are done on the internet. Using cash is not possible on the Internet and that is why cryptocurrencies were invested. The primary purpose was to remove the fiat footprint and reduce transaction charges. With the innovation of technology in the last 10 years, it is now not considered more secure and that is the reason why we see privacy coins in the market. I would say more than cash it is better to use Monero if you want your financial footprint on the internet to be private.

cash is still the most effective way to make transactions with no trace. if the transaction is illegal and there is no need for a receipt then the drug cartel knows too well how to do it. Monero sure is quite useful for online transactions, it is just not very safe since the eyes of authorities have been watching this coin for years and who knows you may already be making transactions to authorities.

Cash not circulating anymore then XMR could be useful but so is BTC which is pretty much what the merchants are willing to accept than XMR.
659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 27, 2024, 03:58:49 PM
This is legal in our country provided that you ask permission from authorities, they allow gambling like card games and color games they allocate a fee, or what we call in our country a "tong" for the family of the bereaved so they can cover the expenses of the family during their hard times.
Do you have a similar practice in your country and is this legal in your country?

I often play games during the wake to keep up with friends and relatives of the bereaved this is to sympathize with the family, these are friendly games and the tong will help the family, it's been with this tradition ever since in our country, and I believe it will keep on as long as there are families who need to cover expenses of the family's who are left.
Tong? I'm afraid it's not practised in my country. This is even the first time I am reading a practice like that. I'm curious though, it would be nice if you could add the name of your country to the OP so that we can at least know where such is being practised. Or better still, the continent you are to have a clue if you do not want to add the name of your country. This practice is worth doing, it's a very good means to cater for the bereaved, at least for a while until they find firm feet again. Of course, in my thought, the rich might go against it, but for those who are poor, it will go a long way to help them.

How I wish I could introduce this in my community as well, but the issue is that I live far from my ancestral home, and to do this in an urban area will take a lot of orientation and resources which I do not have. Well, I wish those who are doing it well. Perhaps one day, the NGOs that have the needed resources can spread it across, being a way to help.

Nonetheless, in my country, we do not just leave the bereaved like that, we drop cash envelopes for them depending on the closeness. This, I believe is similar to "tong. " Though playing games could motivate one to play more against an opponent which could be more money for the bereaved.

Philippines that's where this tradition is very common.  "Tong" if i'm not mistaken is just a slang word for a small fee when a gambler wins the pot. this fee will generate funds for the wake to keep running til the day of burial.  i'm not really aware of the history of the word but its just what's been called since the time i was aware of it.

when my grandpa died, it took a week of wake that his basement was like a betting house. drinks were served including cervesa and coffee and cookies which these are funded by the "tong".
660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you were Satoshi Nakamoto, what would you do? on: February 27, 2024, 03:24:05 PM

let's say real Satoshi comes out. satoshi doing any of these questions will affect the crypto market. satoshi sending a single satoshi from his wallet will plummet BTC price and right there and then, he can never hide ever again. people will be following him wherever he goes.

the moment he sends BTC, Bitcoin will not be decentralized anymore and that's what it takes to make the coin no different from other altcoins.
