761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is you who can't stop betting. on: December 25, 2023, 08:37:03 PM
not addicted gambler yet can't control himself to keep betting is kind of contradicting.

when someone is addicted to gambling, it can be hard to stop. some of them will even commit a crime to have some money to sustain this vice. there's got to be a point where they snap and decide to keep gambling to achieve the desired profit. but even those gamblers who won the first time they gambled end up addicted.

i read in one thread one gambler is addicted to winning which led this person to keep betting. but money is always the cause. if a gambler has no desire for lots of money, he may not keep doing it.
762  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain fiat Currency on: December 25, 2023, 08:17:28 PM

a currency backed by tangible metals and raw materials and runs on blockchain seems hard to establish. but fiat currency like the mention of CBDC i think already existed. but you can assume the stablecoins in crypto like the USDT are one of them.

with the level of trust we have in governments and banks backing a currency with gold, it would be very naive of other countries to send their gold outside their country to store. this is just one of the cons that will wrap it all up.

but BTC network itself can be a stable financial system.
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You Think Staking is the Perfect Passive Income Strategy in a Bull Market? on: December 25, 2023, 07:21:40 PM

there are tokens like ADA where you can store them inside your self-custody wallet and at the same time staking. but i think you can max out only if you have invested in such a token from the very beginning where the coins are still less than 10 cents. you probably won't be tempted to dump them even in the bear market because you still can make money out of staking.

if an investor can make money out of it enough that he can live with just the passive income from staking, he surely has made the right choice from the beginning. let's say he has millions of ADA and can make $1000 a week as per epoch, then definitely a great investment.

I learnt something new today. I have never explored Cardano so I didn't know that details about their staking initiative. The unstaking delay that is associated with proof of stake networks is usually undesirable. I remember one-time: I own a token — let's say X and the price was falling rapidly due to a high impact negative news. So I tried to unstake and sell immediately. The bottom line was that I was only able to access the tokens after 48hours due to the unstaking delay and at that time, the price had already plummeted.

The same thing happened to everyone who staked UST on Anchor protocol during the UST depeg and Luna inevitable crash. Fascinating stuff, ADA's staking!
and by the time withdrawal completed we'd lose half of our money, thats why sometime staking might be waste of time if it involves locking, imagine staking for period of 2 years and the price of coin went shit, that'd be massive waste of time and money certainy i'd be really pissed by that, the thing with staking is that the only staking that have high APY are those new tokens and shitcoin, and we all know how these tokens and coins gonna be in the future, reaching peak and then hitting all time low and never gets back up.
I think in bearish its wiser to just settle with holding not staking, unless in bearish where we just gonna wait anyway, but in bullish and decide to stake at this exact time doesn't really seem like a good decision.

you don't need to unstake ADA. you can send the tokens right away and their system will figure itself how much you have unstake. but holding in the bear market is not profitable. you would rather be selling than unstaking tokens. selling and turning your tokens into USD will be the most advisable path to take in the bull market.

and you can just wait til prices are stable after a year. waiting for the cycle to happen again buy again and stake. therefore staking only when the price are getting stable.

764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How was your crypto journey this year? on: December 25, 2023, 06:59:03 PM

crypto traders have been making money since the start of the year for prices were gradually going up in the first quarter of this year. 2023 is a good year for crypto though the economy of many countries arent good.

i only see 2 people posted SOL as their highlights in the crypto journey this year. i should be the 3rd. though i eventually bought just just last week at $92, it is still a good profit for me.  after a short time of waiting, the pump started again.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you take out your investment when in profit? on: December 25, 2023, 06:01:22 PM
Altcoins are very profitable but still I can't give you a specific answer because each altcoin has it's own unique fundamental that makes them grow, I can tell you that Solana will continue to grow as long as the market is bullish because they (team behind new and old FTX) are doing some underground pumping for recovery and stylishly selling them to get back some funds to get the exchange running and some investors are bullish too.
Altcoins are profitable, there is no doubt about that, but they are scary, scary in the sense that you never know how much value they will lose in a certain period. If you see that you have already gained enough profit on an altcoin you are holding, you should either sell all your holdings or at least sell enough to have your investment out with some profits so that even if the price falls below the point where you've bought them, you won't lose anything.

Getting greedy with altcoins can be costly sometimes. People who don't sell even when they are getting more than 2x profit on an asset will sell for less once the price starts falling, so it's better if we sell when the time is right instead of regretting not doing that when the market goes down already.
Because of the high volatilities with the altcoin market,  reason why the risk involved in it is higher in proportion and also many times why do we advise ourselves to only invest in altcoin just as a gamble because you never know which one will pick in price and which time it will do that,  this is because we may get carried away to believe that a pump in price means steady profiting,  and instead taking off the profits you allow greed to make you push ahead and to the point that it become a total lose for us and that is one thing that have given the altcoin investment a bad image.

Well to be a smart investor one needs to pull out at the time when the party is most interesting so as not to be carried unaware by a pump and dump team.

pump and dump teams are just in the newly launched projects and may only happen nowadays on shady exchanges. the bounty hunters though at very profitable in the bull run with the tokens they can forget after selling. when the price hits their target price, they can sell already.

when you have been in crypto for more than 4 years and have been from a bull market to a bear, you'll definitely become smarter in the next bull run. there is no way you will wait for the bear market and the price of your altcoins to sink again before selling. right at its peak the smart investor may already have sold them all.
766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 25, 2023, 04:30:09 PM
there had been platforms launching campaigns in the forum that turned out to be scams which this option is not to guarantee the casino is trustworthy. they may not have had the intention before but when the business didn't go well. but i don't know if a casino can determine the success of the casino after launching it after 6 months, it could be a premature decision.

there is no way to tell whether a casino is a scam or not we only know it is a scam when they have done it already. they'd have that burden as long as they operate.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Innovation in online gambling on: December 24, 2023, 09:21:28 PM

i'm not sure when it came out but one of the games that was recently introduced by casinos was The Miner. it's not the kind of online game where there are numbers in the blocks serving as clues but the miner still was based on luck. its multiplier is making players profit easily though. there's also "The Aviator" but obviously, it's still a crash game but becomes popular due to the addition of the plane.

these games are also promoted by a lot of local streamers in my country. even youtube vloggers with only 50k subscribers are promoting the casinos with this kind of game.
768  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the us dollar might crash significantly on: December 24, 2023, 09:02:11 PM
As joe Biden administration is planning to sieze the Russian central bank asset worth 300B us dollar to fund the war in Ukraine, it may sound logical but it is a move that will not only distabilize the world financial system, but it will also make almost all none western countries around the world to shift away from the dollar, euros currencies as foreign reserves, because no body will see such an event taking place and not taking actions to preserve it asset.
This to me is a very wrong move that will kill the trust that existed between the west and global south.
Major countries around the world will definitely interpret it this way, today it's Russia, tomorrow it will be us, and that action will crash the value of dollar and euros around the world.
https://www.businessinsider.com/us-eyes-using-300-russia-frozen-assets-help-ukraine-backfire-2023-12

1. Most the assets of the Russian central bank are in Europe, so I don't think that Joe Biden has a major role in the decision about whether or not to confiscate the assets.
2.The European politicians and bankers aren't dumb. They know the consequences of such decision, so the European authorities are trying to come up with legal justification of such confiscation. Confiscating the assets without a proper judicial justification means stealing.
The best decision would be to use the blocked Russian assets to payout the Russian government debt, which is owned by western creditors. Many banks and investment funds used to own Russian government bonds, but Russia failed to pay interest rates, because it was banned from the SWFT system. Such solution would be way better than "confiscate the assets and give them to Ukraine".

that doesn't sound like it can justify the confiscation. they created a problem for Russia to not be able to pay after being blocked from SWIFT and then accused them that they didn't pay.  but this wasn't the first time, remember the assets of Afghanistan were also seized when the Taliban took over the government to which they claim the funds will be used for the victims of terrorism to justify. regardless of who governs the country, the asset still belongs to the country.

it might depend on how other countries will interpret it but these countries found an alternative to SWIFT to conduct their international trades.
they were pushing countries like Russia, Iran, China, and NoKor to have a system where they could trade freely without using USD. it's a lot harder to control them in the end.
769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which hosting or domain name providers does shady gambling sites use? on: December 24, 2023, 07:54:34 PM

is there a domain registrar that is not asking KYC? those days are over already. they may be able to hide it from who.is but with a fee, anyone can get the information needed to identify owners. offshore hosting companies will be able to host this kind of casino. they are the ones used by torrent sites too.

the ICANN i think also has all the data of those people not just the registrar. those hosting and registrar are also into business so they will allow renewals and all until authorities will contact them.

770  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your take on this? on: December 24, 2023, 07:41:36 PM

it's not surprising anymore to see banks taking a 180 turn from their old policy. because there were already banks allowing crypto in their client's accounts. it would be too good to believe that banks will be able to allow users to exchange their fiat for crypto. but it's got to be good news for the adoption of crypto.

Of course, concerns and anxieties are always there, and the same goes for Nigeria, they are very worried that the presence of crypto in their country could lead to misuse of crypto currency due to the risk of money laundering, while the level of corruption cases in that country is quite high. . The government is only worried that this crypto will be used as a means to launder money for corruptors.

To me this is the least of worries from the government. Money laundering or corruption practices through cryptocurrency is not the problem for the government or reason for banning crypto back then in Nigeria. It emanated from the #Endsars agitation that encompasses police brutality on the people and other extra judicial killings going on in the country and still going on presently. So the agitators on the streets on Nigeria across all the states needed to be financed because they stayed like two weeks day and night on the streets. The financers of this protest did that through cryptocurrency because they don't want to be easily traced through fiat and so the government woke up to freeze those exchange accounts that where link to the banks.

Therefore, the banning was more of an afterthought not a predetermined policy of the government backed with their monetary policy but just because they want to get to some people and not to allow untraceable financing of any such of agitation.

It is not to check money laundering or corruption because they don't need crypto to launder money. They are not quite serious to fight corruption . Hopefully, the unbanning will help more trade to freely open up among the youths.

it would take balls for someone to risk laundering money with local banks being a client. once they know you are engaging in crypto, they are already going to be suspicious to your activity.
771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 24, 2023, 06:36:32 PM
Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? Not really since you know gambling influencer seems to good the be true, sometimes they always win and for somehow they manage to profit at the end of the day.
At most times, you'll see them win because that's like the contract that they have for advertising a casino. The casino itself wants the audience of these streamers to be gullible that they're there and each user can easily win against them because that streamer shows how easy someone can win.

Sometime i watched live slot on facebook but its totally for fun while watching the comment box section. sometimes people is funny tho  Grin Grin
It's funny if the streamer is funny and have reactions and interactions with its own community. But if it's just a guy that gambles and does no reaction, not entertaining.

when its very entertaining, i sometimes feel like i'm obligated to like the videos that's all i can do. but the ones i always notice to be very entertaining on youtube are the short poker videos. they are not making their audience sign up.

but influencers can only entice audience if the viewer is new to gambling but if the user is from bitcointalk, i doubt the influencer can actually make us signup. it would take more than just making people laugh but maybe a free usdt and some new games.

772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 23, 2023, 08:39:55 PM
how many of you guys develops interests on a particular casino platform due to the influence of the casinos streamers?

Not literally on me, but referral marketing is one of the mainstream ways for influencers to make money and also one of the most used methods by the casinos to increase the users which means yes it influences people to develop interest just because someone is saying it. This is common method of advertising not just limited to casinos and I don't think I need to prove how people are crazy about someone just because they are fan of that person.

I can say, I am also not influenced by these casino streamers maybe because as we already are here in the forum,
we basically know which casinos and bookies to trust. And so I may watched their stream, but not to the point of believing all what they just showed to the public because we don't know the absolute truth behind such stream.
Do remember, most if not all are being paid by the respective casino they are promoting with. So we don't know exactly what's going behind the curtain of that stream.

i guess there is no profit in becoming an influencer and then posting their referral link under the video description since there seem to be no people going to be influenced in doing something out of the video. but what motivates those streamers i think is that they are paid by the casino itself that they promoted.

so far we have seen many of them even the local vlogger in my country are also promoting casinos but i'm also unsure whether someone would really take their referral code upon registering.

773  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The crypto exchange best known for siding with Gary Gensler pushes 2024 launch on: December 23, 2023, 08:08:53 PM

idk who that is but that is not justin.  Grin

but i do believe if they can do that to CZ, they can do that to anyone. but you know you can't expect them not to react that way when their way of ruling things is challenged. let alone having a currency uncontrolled by the government. and all awhile people think cryptocurrency will rule the world? eeff no it's blackrock and like you said it will be again similar to traditional finance.

774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think Bitcoin ETF will be approved? on: December 23, 2023, 07:31:15 PM
I think the Feds are enjoying their time leaving the whole crypto space in suspense. Frankly, it is percieved that the crypto space has not gone totally bullish because of the unapproved Bitcoin ETF applications and loads of financial institutions are currently waiting for the judgement before they consolidate on their final decisions on investments.

The Bitcoin ETF is going to possibly be postponed to further keep the space grinded and stop investors from pulling out their resources and putting them into the decentralised space.

the institutions are already buying up BTC without having the ETF approval yet. they know BTC doesn't need ETF approval to make its ATH again.

but based on what we have seen this year, i think SEC will not approve ETF yet even on jan 10 because we all are expecting it. they are teasing the investors. they may only approve it when we least expect it. i suspect they will wait til the halving effect is over and may of us haave sold already thinking the bull run is over before they will approve it. must be a bummer when this happens.
775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 23, 2023, 07:08:54 PM
So while we are thinking that this is an easy fight for Inoue, his camp doesn't think that way.

From this article publish by philstar global, this is what Inoue has said during an interview.
https://www.philstar.com/sports/2023/12/21/2320508/inoue-admits-feeling-scared-tapales-showdown-nears
Quote
“What scares me the most is people around me think it will be an easy fight,” the soft-spoken pound-for-pound star said during a media workout the other day in Japan.

Inoue and his camp just recognizes the danger Tapales brings to that table that they admitted bringing in sparring partners from abroad who have differing styles so they would be ready for anything come fight night.

Inoue showed respet to the ability of his fellow champion, and that's the kind of attitude I like on a boxer as it will reflect on his work ethic. Now, with this humble words from him, it's hard not to think that he'll beat Tapales easily.

Japanese fighters are known for always being polite and respectful. Inoue isn't going to downplay or trash talk his opponent. Even if he won't admit it publicly, Inoue is well aware of his superior abilities. Tapales isn't a bad fighter by any means but Inoue is a generational talent and anything short of a dominant victory will be considered a disappointment. I am sure that Crawford beating him in becoming undisputed twice will motivate him to try and get a spectacular finish so that he can be considered the pound for pound king.

Indeed, Japanese in general aren't trash-talkers and are polite. Of the countless Japanese world champions in this sport, I can only remember one who is arrogant and that is the eldest of the Kameda brothers.

If Inoue schools Tapales and then knocks him out. Will he replace Crawford becomes again the pound-for-pound king? Tapales could be out of Spence's level although the guy is a 2 division champion. But it's a great achievement if Inoue wins, only the second to become a 2-division undisputed champion in the 4-belt era. And then by early next year, we have Oleksandr Usyk also trying to become a 2-division undisputed champion as well and also has a serious case to become the new pound-for-pound king.

True, Japanese have that discipline that's why they don't talk trash against their opponents, and on the contrary are very respectful. I think if Inoue wins here then it's going to be a tough call as to who will be the pound for pound or even fighter of the year.

Crawford already did it, at 140 and 147 lbs and Inoue will be the second at 118 and 122 lbs to accomplished and unify belts in 2 divisions.

So that is a huge accomplishment for the Japanese and I think he will set the record in Asia (same with Inoue if he wins).

Inoue will likely go up and in time, if Bud is still there, Inoue will challenge him. It is a climb for Inoue but i think he will slow down when he reaches 135, this is where the exciting matches happen and he could probably fight at least 2-3 times a year if those on top are not going to duck him.

a 30-year-old crawford vs Inoue would have been one of the fights that would sell and i think i will still put my money on Inoue.
776  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the us dollar might crash significantly on: December 23, 2023, 06:16:08 PM
if biden does this, it can be predicted that this could trigger russia and its allies to go to war with the us and europe, because even though european authorities have frozen russian assets from moving out of their region, these assets have sovereignty immunity which cannot be taken away. if europe and the us continue to insist on doing this, it would be the same as disturbing russia's sovereignty and war could be a step taken by russia to maintain their sovereignty.

they are already at war. but the seizure of Russia's assets will make other countries think their asset is also not safe if they also are going to get involved in this politics. india is currently in conflict because of the regime change attempt which they may also see as possibility that their assets will also be frozen. and this is what OP means today it's just Russia's asset so who will it be in the future?

since this is already a trust issue for other countries, they will prepare for what may come next especially because IMF has power over each country.
777  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one did you use to gamble with more on: December 23, 2023, 05:56:58 PM
i think it depends on the sport. in boxing you may already predict result before the game starts/
soccer games live feels much easier because of the nature of the sport where making a goal is a lot harder but once one team made a point, it is already a good advantage to bet on that team.  the odds may be just 1.40 but i think it's still good than betting a match that you are 100% unsure whether you will win.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A kid makes millions by investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum on: December 23, 2023, 05:41:25 PM
another success story in crypto. It's always fascinating to see kids making a fortune as early as possible in their lives. and he is also a CEO, very cool resume.
lucky kid. he didn't wait to get old before trying to invest in something profitable. he isn't like the rest of the kids today who are only up to gaming and spending all their time playing online games.
779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: December 22, 2023, 07:56:55 PM
I also think that Donaire give that advise to Tapales to avoid mistake with his strategy, better to keep close and try to read whatever the fighting style
Inoue will use for their fight.

Though we don't really know what it is and what would be the plan for this upcoming fight, all will be reveal during thier meeting inside the ring.

But the question is if Tapales is capable of doing that supposed advice given by Donaire once in the ring.

Donaire is the only boxer that gives Naoya Inoue a hard fight and I don't think anyone from the entire Super Bantamweight division do have that same capability. Donaire is even the reason why Inoue becomes stronger and since having that tough fight, Inoue makes sure not to repeat being in that hard state again.

As a PH fan of boxing, I do hope though that Tapales will somehow erase all the doubts that he is nothing against the Monster. Impossible might it be for the others, even for most boxing analysts but who knows. At least, Tapales should make this fight not an easy path for Inoue becoming the undisputed champion in the Super Bantamweight.

it will already be a success for Tapales to survive every round and end the fight with UD. inoue is hard to stop. if he KOed Fulton in a brutal way, it would be hard to see Tapales win. but who knows.  Tapales can hurt Inoue for once and make the greatest win of his life. Arum will feel the shocking loss in his life too.

inoue only move up to 122 lbs to unify the belt. he will move up again to 126 to fight Espinoza or Vargas?
780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin season coming soon? on: December 22, 2023, 07:34:21 PM

i think we are already in the bull market and so the altcoin season has also started. it may not have rocketed fast but because we are used to seeing bull run after halving, investors are still weighing whether they are going all in or not.  by the time the media are glorifying the altcoins, the prices may not be as affordable for the retailers and i guess again the new crypto investors will fall to memecoins.

the new investors are the good ones to get excited about altcoin bull season because these are the ones that will tell social media they made almost 1M in Bonk or Shib. they are the ones who will carry the message.
