If you want to enter sports betting then make sure it is your favorite sport. If you are an avid fan of the NBA then it won't be hard for you to follow the teams and players unless you are very busy with your life that you do not have enough time to do extra research. It is hard to win bets if you are just rooting for luck. But you can place very small bets to satisfy your sports betting craving.

At the moment, I cannot watch many games in a day unlike before. Aside from selecting only the games I like to watch which also depends on my availability, I always take a look at the daily results and NBA standing. This way I am familiar with all the 30 teams in general. If we only have limited time then we can focus on 1 or 2 or more teams.

Before starting my bets, I do some simple tasks;
1. I have to know who's home and on the road. I forgot the figures but home teams have a higher winning percentage unless it is a rebuilding team against a playoff team.

2. I have to know if any of the teams played yesterday because it is a big disadvantage especially if they traveled. Be familiar with the map of the US and Toronto which is in Canada. It takes more or less 5 hours by plane from the east coast to the west coast not including the land travel by team bus.

3. Check also if any of the teams are having a winning or losing streaks. Because at times momentum matters too.

4. And last, check the injury reports.

those are good points. i have been looking into my NBA bets since just days ago, somehow i didn't lose as much as i thought but i'm not making progress.
when there are so many players to follow and what they could contribute to their teams, it gets so tiresome while in other sports a bettor can only look at the stats, how much they have improved, or how their age affects their performance.

it's killing my time following the news and i was wondering if bettors in bitcointalk were also doing the same when they first started.

Thanks for the correction, i tried to find the archive page of the forum but no avail, even in the bitcoin.org or in sourceforge.net.
You can see many captures taken from forum.bitcoin.org on wayback machine. Click here.
It seems that the forum was like the current version when it was hosted on forum.bitcoin.org.

This [1] is the only the oldest archive recorded of bitcoin.org but not included the first forum look.
The forum was hosted on forum.bitcoin.org and that's what you should have searched for.

Bitcoin.org still exists, but the forum was moved from forum.bitcoin.org to bitcointalk.org.

it does mean that Theymos also owns bitcoin.org correct?
2011 still is the time when people are building wordpress sites and forums to monetize. i couldn't be sure but i think there was a time in the past when Theymos uses adsense in bitcointalk. which i guess is the reason for moving it from the subforum to a new domain.

Roger Ver was finding issues about this so he created his own forum. but like it was said above, the forum started on sourceforge where Satoshi made his first post.
1163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you use your free bets to ensure result on: October 28, 2023, 04:19:05 PM
use it on a match that is somewhat less risky. there is obviously something like a David vs Goliath fight in sports of course that may just be an obvious suggestion and you may have been doing it already.

free bets are free bets, you won't feel you are really spending the money from your wallet with it. i would treat it like its go big or go home money, if its worth $1000 i bet it on one game to feel like i'm a high roller overnight.  Grin
1164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not a casual fan but want to participate in sportsbetting on: October 28, 2023, 06:30:41 AM
You don't have the knowledge and also don't want to bet based on the odds still want to bet on it then just choose the team by flipping a coin or something like that.

You are suggesting rhe real gambling here and that is the height of risk. No knowledge,  no experience, no data analysis... just purely base on luck? This is never sustainable and will most likely lead to frustration.  He might be lucky few times but when serious of losses pile up, he might be depressed.

There is no other way in my opinion unless you have having necessary knowledge about the game that you are going to bet. If you don't have the knowledge of a sport then my suggestion will be don't bet on it and just choose the casino game so that you will at least get the game experience as well as the results totally depends on your luck.
This is more like it; focus your energy on what you have knowledge of. NBA is a very technical sports that requires good knowledge of the players as well the team to be able to make informed choices. A lot of factors comes into place when predicting the outcome of the match; these are not things you leave to luck.

i'm used to bet on other sports like the combat sports but this easy because we can easily access the stats of the athletes and we can reply over and over their fight that only last few minutes. basketball takes hours.

the difference is that UFC events are only on saturdays while NBA as season just started matches are frequent, therefore more bets to do and all its needed is to win more bets.

i actually followed some users who shares their slip but they dont do it all the time. 😬

1165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Not a casual fan but want to participate in sportsbetting on: October 27, 2023, 06:39:26 PM
once an NBA fan somewhat like a casual fan of NBA and wants to bet on matches.

being a fan but not going to do some research about the players and team conditions, how am i going to participate in sports betting specifically on the NBA?
i wouldn't want to just keep following based on the odds. seemingly as a bettor, it requires ramping up on lots of updates and knowledge of the sport and how the team players are doing. how am i to do it?
1166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 27, 2023, 05:26:52 PM
The weigh in just finished.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8aJquw4lHM

My prediction in jeremypwr's promo thread was Round 9 but you know what, I have a feeling Fury gets the KO sooner than that.

Fury rubbing his hairy belly to Ngannou, that's epic someone should make a gif for it.
the commentator said the first 3 rounds are the most important for Ngannou beyond that, it could be Fury picking up the rhythm and winning the fight. it is always assumed that Ngannou couldn't last up to 10th round. by the 4th round, it will all be a gassed-out Ngannou.

in the first 3 rounds, i think are enough for him to apply what he learned from Mike, utilizing the footwork to position his hips for the hardest punch.
1167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spirituality and Betting - Do they Have any Connection? on: October 27, 2023, 03:47:59 PM
god as far as i know had said in the bible that it's not allowed to gamble. true believers, wouldn't really include god to win in their bets.

the only reason why spirituality and betting have a connection is because he surrounds his sportybet app with the holy bible app lol how desperate is that man to rely on all his hope to win in gambling.  let me guess is this the lady who cried to return her money after losing on sposrtybet app?

1168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think if you have a lot of money its hard to satisfy your ego in gambling on: October 27, 2023, 02:48:39 PM
the more money you have the more you will spend to be entertained. it won't make you happy when you lose 50.000 and then win just 10.000 later, you have the means to chase the loss and that could be the reason to spend more.

but knowing that you don't gamble that way when you have less money, you will still be able to think straight and just go back down to your minimum bets.
unless you are Drake.

those high rollers by the way typically do overstate their victories and they understate their losses.
1169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 26, 2023, 04:08:11 AM
the promotion will still not allow them to fight even i they started to have this john vs mike fight. the insurance policy will not allow them and Saudis wouldn't want blood on their hands if any of them suddenly just fall and die in the ring. this is just to hype the hype.

while it's not worth to try betting with just 10usdt for Fury, i would just pick Ngannou for this throwaway amount to maximize the win in case of an upset. way to go Ngannou by KO 9.00!

It's very obvious that John Fury is only hyping his son's fight by involving Mike Tyson. He should know better not to get Mike angry with what he says to him. And so I don't think that it will go that far to say that someone will die here, it's just absurd. Does John wanted to get knockout?

And for sure Mike Tyson is not going to stoop down on that level and verbally or physically attack John. Doesn't make sense for him. He will understand that this is all for the hype and promotion of the fight just for selling the tickets, nothing more.

according to the interview, Helwani sometimes throws some intriguing questions which could give you the impression they really are into crazy shits. it was Ngannou's idea which irks Fury if Mike is in his camp while Fury is named after Mike.

i did not look at it that way at first but now it makes sense why John is going nuts. he is Mike's fan that he named his son after Mike. anyway, i changed my mind and rooting for Fury instead, there are signs people have seen that the result could be Fury by decision.

https://rollbit.com/sports?bt-path=%2Fmma%2Fslapping%2Fpower-slap-5-2327105590456885278

Enjoy.  Grin

I am not really a fan of Slap Power after seeing what happened to the face of one contender his face was deformed and I was shocked and at the same time scared for him if his face would not return to normal but for sure back then I was really curious with this kind of event and what is happening but yeah there is no need for technical striking for this one all the fighters need to do and become sturdy so this will surely test their durability or their chin in this slap contest,

Usman agreed to fight Chimaev because of the huge payout. This is natural because Usman has won in negotiations. This defeat was also beneficial for Usman because it could be assumed that Usman lost this fight due to lack of preparation. Chimaev has been training for months at the training camp, while Usman has only started preparing for the Training Camp in just 11 days. And one more thing, Usman has received a very large fee from the UFC (I don't know how much) to fill this fight.

For sure we all know why Usman accepts the Chimaev fight and yeah it is all about the money, Volk also confirms this aswell he is after the money, and because of his family, well Kamaru Usman did great with less preparation for the fight so for sure Kamaru Usman will have another fight that could be in his new Division and this is Khamzat Chimaev we are talking about,

not sure what Uncle Fester would do to them if they refused to fight even at short notice. but they are warriors of our time. Usman lasted while Volk didn't, they were saying he was dehydrated. money is money. gotta grab it.

seems like only Ngannou is not broke in MMA. he also has a fight this Saturday so speak no more of how bad the weekend could be without UFC, there's Fury vs Ngannou for all the sherdogs. although the fight may disappoint you in the end, at least the hype will also end once and for all.

i have not seen YuginKadoya's slip yet but i will just give mine in advance.
1171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk - December or January in Saudi Arabia on: October 26, 2023, 03:35:17 AM
no one would really believe Ngannou to win this while the odds obviously favor Fury 1.05 vs Ngannou 8.20. bookmaker already decides who wins the fight. by any chance, there will be an upset, it's gonna close to being rug-pulled by Ngannou. the MMA community will really be laughing hard while Dana gonna have a heart attack.

if there is anything to decide which side you gonna pick while you think this is just an exhibition, it would be a draw which is Draw 26.00.
but some indicators that crazy boxing fans saw is that they made the fight last 10 rounds and bigger ring size as well. what could that mean as they could play a tag game inside?  Grin

okay. not very updated on the NBA anymore but i take your word for it. i'm betting them all and i'm gonna blame you if we lose.

i'm just trying to accumulate more coins this time and want to win as much as possible. since i followed your bets on UFC, i will also be trying my way on some other sports like basketball. i'm just kidding though lol no blaming. i know i could lose them all if all goes south.

Take it with a grain of salt dude, this is the opening game for this season, so for sure it is not going to be perfect this is basketball so we can never know what may happen with the games, but if you want you can surely blame me, but we got 1 out of 2 the Denver Nuggets made a great beginning game for sure the Lakers wants to take the lead but they can not do something about it as Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray again with that kind of tandem doesn't let the Lakers made a big score for sure, and the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns game end up in a close game, Devin Booker didn't allow the Warriors to win this game,

Results for my bet and prediction for the opening games for the NBA

Denver Nuggets VS Los Angeles Lakers SCORE 119 - 107 - WIN

Great game for the Denver Nuggets for sure the beginning of the game the Nuggets were destroying the Lakers until the Lakers eventually got the momentum in the 2nd quarter, but they had stepped into the field where they could not return anymore and so the Nuggets had exploited, them Nikola Jokic got a triple-double of 13 rebounds 11 assist and 29 points while Jamal Murray got 21 points winning the game against the Lakers,

Golden State Warriors VS Phoenix Suns SCORE 104 - 108 - LOST

Pretty much a close game for sure it was a back-and-forth lead until the Phoenix Suns eventually toppled the Warriors with Devin Booker's efforts they know that they can deliver a win against the Warriors, Jusuf Nurkic has a double-double of 14 rebounds and 14 points, Kevin Durant also has a double-double of 10 rebounds and 18 points and Devin Booker that have put all the pressure on the Golden States, got 32 points for this game, and so this is the 1st lost on this season,

they did recover in the 3rd quarter and i was tempted to cashout as i'm already winning but then again the Phoenix Suns were gaining and unfortunately won in the end. i was more surprised to see Kevin Durant is already in Phoenix. he used to be in the GSW so this guy is a sell out.
\
anyway, it's just the start of the season no worries.
i would actually be waiting for your bets in this thread, after all, i see often on the sports thread that i also follow.
1173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dangerous chasing losses on: October 25, 2023, 04:04:30 PM
it was a bad start and you thought you felt better already just because it was just a minor flu. when you enjoy something, you also disregard the value of what you spend which turns out you deposit some more. did you notice that when you are with friends in a bar and you all enjoy you keep buying drinks without thinking you may have nothing for tomorrow?

when they say gamble for fun and not to make money, it actually means just go deposit more its just money what is more important is that you celebrate good times.
did you take more pills than what is recommended?
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBTC ticker of Blockrock is still listed on the website on: October 25, 2023, 04:49:20 AM

it's back. the delisting i guess they wanna rug pull us. they thought we'd dump because they delist it but hell we are holding on.
they changed their minds because the leak is out and investors are already expecting the inevitable ETF. not heard of another interview yet with gary gensler, he seems to be very silent since the last interview we have seen which is scary because he may be up to something again to pull the price down.

Larry Fink however seems excited this man rarely goes out to speak in public but suddenly shills crypto. Happy to see prices shoot to the moon but it's odd.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 25, 2023, 04:32:19 AM

Hi guys, coming through with a rather odd question this morning.

So, i was looking up on Wikipedia the meaning of Money Laundering , and below is a quote of how the site defined the term "Money Laundering"

Quote
Money laundering is the process of illegally concealing the origin of money, obtained from illicit activities such as drug trafficking, corruption, embezzlement or gambling, by converting it into a legitimate source. It is a crime in many jurisdictions with varying definitions. It is usually a key operation of organized crime.

So, after i saw that Gambling was mentioned or listed among the listed illicit activities through which money can or could be laundered, I can't help but wonder if gambling is actually an illicit activity.

Wikipedia did not mention gambling being an illicit activity in their definition of gambling here, why then did they mention gambling as one of illicit activity through which money laundering can be carried out?

Please check this out and share your thoughts.

I disagree!

In fact, there is a very "close" connection between them, as casinos can be used to give dirty money a legal appearance. An example: a public official/politican who receives thousands of dollar as a result of corruption can justify the amount as resulting from fictitious winnings in the game of roulette. To do this, simply take the illicit resources to the casino, buy chips from other players (at a premium) without betting on any specific game, and present them to the cashier, claiming to have won such amounts. The money received will appear to be legal, because it was “won” in games on site. It is no surprise that international entities, such as the FATF, publish recommendations for public authorities to pay attention to the facilities that casinos can offer to conceal dirty money.

But, this doesn't mean that such establishments will always be an oasis for money laundering. There are countries that live with the exploitation of gambling and have developed, over time, interesting mechanisms to prevent casinos and the like from being used to clean resources of criminal origin. There are recommendations for such establishments to create and maintain customer records, track player activity (for example, to identify whether they actually play or acquire chips in another way), avoid cash transactions, and so on Wink

like Las Vegas?
whether the money that circulates there are among those being laundered the government doesn't seem to want to look on it. you rarely hear news about money laundering in vegas. the country needs the money that comes from casinos, otherwise, it won't survive, it depends on the gambling tourists. this is not just in nevada but all other countries as well where casinos are thriving.

if the government really deemed them to be illicit, they would have caught those people red-handed. and i mean people are more afraid of IRS than the police if they just audit their money in and out it will be horrifying to own a casino.  the fine line between what the government considers illicit and allowed is greyed by money.

A good opportunity to maximize our rewards during the Ngannou versus Fury fight. It's hyped so join it.
Good luck.
why are they using this image, it doesn't look like it's Fury up there. he certainly looks like a komodo dragon with a bloated tummy. bookmakers already show how one-sided this fight can be even in the images they use.
8.20 for Ngannou's odd, seem a good time to pray for an upset.  Grin
obviously, it's just a slim shot but maybe a lucky haymaker reaches Fury's face and results in the most upsetting way. its gonna be the most embarrassing day for the boxing champ.
Maybe they want him to look younger with the clean shaven head and face.
Francis Ngannou was on MMAFightingonSBN yesterday and Ariel asked him alot of questions about this fight inwhich he wouldn't have told anybody else since he has been on the show many times before and they are somewhat friends fr-om his MMA time in the UFC.

For that interview with Ngannou you can skip to the 1:30 hour mark of the video:
The MMA Hour: Francis Ngannou, Paulo Costa, Johnny Walker, Devin Haney in studio | Oct 23, 2023
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLjbF98VziU

Also the NBA is about to kick-off with the first game of the night in the next 40 minutes and just watching the tip-off show on TNT.
The Championship ring ceremony for last season's champs are going to be shown ahead of the Denver Nuggets game.
It does get the fans of the NBA hyped up from such a long wait for this season to finally begin.
Here are the markets for the two games tonight:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/basketball/usa/nba/matches

Ngannou knows what to expect in this fight he said himself that he'd be a lot more confident in MMA. in boxing with Tyson, sure he would feel a lot more of a 50/50 but i think he will still give his best to show a big KO. the ring size in deed matter for this fight since he would be the one who will be chasing to gain an advantage while fury has the reach. i can only assume it's Fury who asked the ring to be 24x24 more room for his footwork.

crazy how they announced the fight of Fury vs Usyk while Fury still has to fight with Ngannou. so its somewhat like there is a mind game that the two are playing which Ngannou had started.
would it really make Fury mad because Mike Tyson is on Ngannou's side to which Helwani points it out like Ngsannou is playing a mind game when he asks Mike to train him?

I won one of the nba bets by the way: the other is yet to win or not. Thanks to YuginKadoya

I am also Eyeing the NBA games today these are the first 2 games for the regular season of the NBA here are my bets and predictions for games today

Denver Nuggets VS Los Angeles Lakers

The odds for this game are 1.47 for the Nuggets and 2.80 for the Lakers, the injuries for this game are Julian Strawther and Jay Huff both are questionable if they can play for the Denver Nuggets, and Vlatko Cancar can not play for the Nuggets and is expected to be out until at least Apr 1, while Jalen Hood-Schifino is Expected to be out until at least Nov 4 and Jarred Vanderbilt is Expected to be out until at least Oct 26, and both surely can not play for the Lakers, for this game surely the Denver Nuggets is now the champion and what they did in the finals against the Miami Heat for sure against the Los Angeles Lakers that doesn't have Jarred Vanderbilt this is a win for the Denver Nuggets,

Golden State Warriors VS Phoenix Suns

The Odds for this game are 1.88 for the Warriors and 1.97 for the Suns, the injuries for this game are Draymond Green is Expected to be out until at least Oct 27, and can not play for this game for the Warriors, while Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are both questionable if they can play for the Suns and Damion Lee is Expected to be out until at least Dec 31, and can not play for the Suns, for this game for sure the Warriors now that they got the point GOD, and now Kuminga is a different beast for sure the Golden State Warriors will win this,

okay. not very updated on the NBA anymore but i take your word for it. i'm betting them all and i'm gonna blame you if we lose.

1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 24, 2023, 06:21:48 PM
And now the father of Tyson Fury, wanted to go after Mike Tyson.

Quote
"[I'd like to fight] Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson, I’m going to the top of the tree. And he’s a traitor, and I’m going to tell him so in Saudi next week. Next week, he’ll be told," John Fury told Fight Hub TV.

https://www.boxingscene.com/amp/john-fury-plans-confront-traitor-mike-tyson-during-fury-ngannou-fight-week--178598

That is a very bad idea, even at Mike Tyson's age, he is still very scary as hell. And perhaps this is just to hype the fight as we all know that John Fury wanted to get into the limelight as well when his son/s have fight.

And I guess there's nothing personal on Mike's side, maybe he just wanted to train Francis Ngannou, who he might see himself when he was starting his boxing career. Power in both hands but very raw.

John Fury called Iron Mike a traitor because they used to have good relationships. Tyson Fury is also named after John's idol Iron Mike. But this is nothing personal though and Iron Mike is probably invited and paid well by Ngannou's team so why not? Or it could be that the promoters or organizers hired Iron Mike to make an issue out of it which is somewhat corny. Or who knows this is set up by both teams to make the public buy their upcoming PPV.

John always tries to get attention as always although I guess he was one of the reasons why the Tommy Furry-KSI and Logan vs Dillon event became successful to the casual fans. If the ultra-conservative Saudis allow John to make extra stunts like smashing and throwing the tables and chairs in their conference and weigh-in then I guess it will once again draw popularity to the public.

And just like any other father-fighter relationships in this sports, it more of the father who wanted to get more attention isn't it? Teo Lopez Sr, Angel Garcia (Danny's father), some that comes to my mind. So I'm not surprised by John Fury as he has this kind of attitude and antics to the media. Like you said, in the Tommy Fury-KSI fight, there's even a glass window barrier between the two, but what did John Fury do? Smash it and even to the point of head butting to try and break the glass.

So let's see what his going to do when he met Mike Tyson personally in Riyadh, it could be funny though if we see Tyson smacking him in front of the media. But I don't think he can come near Mike Tyson though. Mike can take care of himself that's for sure.

But this statement could really be good to hype the fight even more specially that they have involved Mike Tyson's name here.

And it feels good when Danny lost to Thurman and Teofimo humiliated by Kambosos. I would also be glad if Ngannou all of a sudden lands something big that won't allow Big Belly to stand up. Cheesy

John is all talk, Iron Mike can still knock him out. They should face each other in the main undercard to make this event more popular. But John Fury's professional record isn't good to hear though, 8-4-1 KOs. Lost almost half of his fights, suffered knockout outs in half of his fights, and has only one knockout in his wins. So John's punch can hardly crack an egg. Cheesy

the promotion will still not allow them to fight even i they started to have this john vs mike fight. the insurance policy will not allow them and Saudis wouldn't want blood on their hands if any of them suddenly just fall and die in the ring. this is just to hype the hype.

while it's not worth to try betting with just 10usdt for Fury, i would just pick Ngannou for this throwaway amount to maximize the win in case of an upset. way to go Ngannou by KO 9.00!
