#HODLing is not a smooth journey, do you agree? Grin
~
It hasn't been, and it will never be.

There will be times when you will regret making some decisions. Hodling tests your patience, but it's the safest way for an investor to make a profit though it will take some time. I'm currently a holder, but I did make some wrong decisions in the past, especially during the 2021 bull run. If only I did sold all of my assets at that time, and then choose to buy it the following year, and then hold it until the next bull run comes. I could've made more money than just holding for a longer time.

I guess it all comes down to our "WHY?". Why did we invest, and our goals with our holdings? If we plan to hold for at least 5 years, then expect a rough journey on it, and vice-versa. Like what OP said, holding requires the investor not to get freaked out when something bad happens in the market like when we enter the bear season.
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Very Good News Argentina Cryptocurrency Holder on: November 20, 2023, 12:05:49 PM
President being crypto-friendly doesn't mean it will be positive news for the whole crypto market.
Let's note that there are still other authorities that are against crypto and might stop making some regulations.

I did a quick search and based on this website, the total percent of the population that is currently holding Bitcoin this 2023 is only 5%. Well, it's in the top 15 for the highest number of population who own Bitcoin. With the new president that's pro-crypto, I expect it to go even higher. I don't know if this will have an effect on the price of Bitcoin, but let's just not overreact with this one as we don't know what the newly-elected president will do.

There might be a chance that he just used cryptocurrency to increase his popularity. I mean they're politicians, and I'm not generalizing all of them, but there's a "CHANCE".
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 20, 2023, 07:36:49 AM
That Laker game was a close one. I’m glad LeBron made that second free throw to get them the win. After he missed the first I was a bit concerned. After the last matchup with Dillon Brooks I’m glad LeBron got the best of him this time. Crazy close game. Same with the Suns game earlier. Good basketball tonight.

LeBron never seems to age; he scored 37 points tonight. However, if he hadn't made that second free throw, there would probably be criticisms coming his way.
I wonder how long he can play like that. I'm not against what you said, but the question is how sustainable it is. What if Lebron will have a bad night? Will there be somebody who can step up? If Lebron sits down, will somebody step up offensively?

I mean we know that Lebron is capable of carrying the whole team, but at his age? There will be a time that he will not play like that at some games, and who will step up if that happens? At the start of the season, they already said that he would not play more than 30 minutes per game, but it seems like he's playing the same number of minutes as he was when he was still in his prime years.

I mean I would like to see the Lakers winning with Lebron not scoring that high because he's like, he's carrying his whole team again like what he's doing in the past. Well, a win is a win, and as for the Rockets, they are now on a 2 game-losing streak, and both their 2 losses are from LA teams. Cheesy
664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 18, 2023, 09:33:17 AM
Rockets won 6 in a row and Clippers lost 6 in a row. Most people expect Rockets to win but I thought the exact opposite. This must be the game that both streaks are over. Rockets were close to win the game but Harden said the last word. He played like his Rockets days against Rockets ironically.
This Clippers should be in higher places, since that bad streak is over I believe they'll climb up fast. They promise so much with that roster. Harden is back to normal, Westbrook accepted his bench role, with Kawhi and George they should be in top 5 in the West.

I’m glad the Clippers finally won a game with James Harden on the roster. I was beginning to get embarrassed for them. The highlight of the night for me was definitely watching Russell Westbrook try to posterize Dillon Brooks. All Brooks could do was foul and hope he doesn’t end up on a poster. Even though Russ missed the dunk, I’m guessing it is still going to make an amazing poster.
I guess the confidence in the Clippers roster with Harden is now starting to come back after that and-one three-point shot that made them end their losing streak. On the other hand, the Rockets ended their winning streak at 6 which is a pretty good thing already knowing how they played last season.

TBH, I don't want to highlight James Harden's three-point shot. What I want to highlight is the adjustment made by Russell Westbrook. I mean just imagine him going to the coaching staff saying that he will come off the bench. Well, he has experienced it already when the Clippers gave him another chance, and if this is the way for them to be better in their future games, he will gladly stay and play off the bench. I believe that the adjustment made them better at least just on that game.

Your highlight of the night was Westbrook trying to posterize Brooks. Mine is when 2 Rockets players posterized Daniel Theis on his debut game Cheesy. It's like "Welcome to your new team. Here's a posterized dunk for you." Cheesy Feel sorry for him.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme. on: November 18, 2023, 07:29:13 AM
Bitcoin investment is just like a normal investment that when you start it initially, you take your time to grow, nurture and monitor it, with patient and discipline to make sure that the investment flourishes.
I guess this sums up what you said. Smiley

Bitcoin, like other investments out there, takes time to appreciate. Bitcoin is like any other asset out there it will take years before you gain some money investing in it. Of course, I'm talking about buying it, and holding it because it will be a different story if you are trading using Bitcoin, and you're currently profitable in it. All the people who are saying that you can get rich quickly using Bitcoin are all scams. Yes, it might be quicker compared to some other assets out there like the Stock Market, or the bond market, but it isn't as quick as "You will gain 100% of your invested money in a week or two." It still takes time for it to appreciate.

I just hope that all of the newbies out there who think like this will change their whole mindset because Bitcoin wasn't created like that, and it wasn't created as an asset in the first place because it was a currency. Nevertheless, follow what OP said that Bitcoin is like other investments out there. The only difference is how their price moves on a daily basis.
666  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency is the second most popular investment in "France" on: November 18, 2023, 06:23:10 AM
I always believe that cryptocurrency is becoming one of the most popular investments not only in France, but all over the world.
People are looking at it as a place to put their cash, and knowing that holding cash is quite useless because of inflation, some rather invest it, and it's kind of expected for me that the top 2 assets where they want to invest their money is thru real estate and cryptocurrencies.

Cryptocurrency are becoming more, and more popular maybe because of how much profit it can give to those who are investing in it. I mean volatility attracts many investors. Volatility, I believe is the main reason why many people are investing in it. The fact that you can gain way more compared to the stock market, and even in real estate is the reason why they're opting for it, but on the other hand, volatility can make your money lose quicker than other assets.

The adoption of cryptocurrencies is going higher, and higher, and I will not be surprised if in the next 5-10 years, people around the world will invest into it as well.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the minimum amount of bitcoin or satoshi should hold for poor? on: November 18, 2023, 03:09:01 AM
What is the minimum amount of bitcoins a poor person should have? and the minimum time it should be Hold/retained?

The term "poor" is almost as broad as what "rich" is.

It will all depend on what the capabilities of that person are financial-wise. I mean I can consider myself a poor person because I'm having a hard time budgeting my monthly salary. At the same time, a person who has a lot of money can consider himself poor as well. A person can buy a single Bitcoin, and consider themselves poor still. Like other users here, I can't say a specific amount as well because this question is kind of irrelevant.

As a person who loves watching anime and cartoons, I totally love the concept.

Don't get me wrong. I watched the reel, and TBH, it wasn't intended only for those children out there. It can also be watched by those teenagers out there who have little to no idea about Bitcoin. It can also be watched by those adults who want to learn Bitcoin. I mean it's for everyone.

I only watched the reel, which shows the basics of Bitcoin and I would say that it's informative. I don't like the fact that OP specified the kids where in fact he can say "Most people", but nevertheless, it's a big help for those newbies out there regardless of age... I guess.
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 18, 2023, 12:35:44 AM
Caruso is definitely a must, it will help them, but in that case they are keeping AD, I mean they could just give some other players and get Caruso, that's not really impossible. They probably do not have any picks left, but that's why I said get some picks from OKC, or any other team really, if Chicago doesn't want players, Lakers could give the players to OKC and get picks and give that, that would still work, plus AD and you got yourself a whole team. I do agree that the ywon't get all three, and Derozan is getting older, so Lavine and Caruso together could be even better, but just one of these three doesn't seem like it would turn them into a title team, it would just make them slightly better, all three, or even two would make them quite strong. I really hope to see some big changes in the league, we haven't seen that much change aside from maybe Dame, that was the only one, and I am not sure how well that will go.
If the Lakers will pursue to make a trade with the Lakers, the best 2 players that they can get are Caruso and Lavine.

I don't know how they will make it without Davis being included in the trade package. Trading some role players plus some draft picks maybe, or include a 3rd team with the trade maybe. One thing's for sure though and that's LaVine is on the trading list already, and both already agreed on it. Getting LaVine on the team will boost them offensively because as of this moment, there is no player who's consistent offensively aside from Lebron. It's like him carrying the whole team "AGAIN" and he's f-ing tired of it already. If he will be using his Le-GM skills, he will do everything to get Caruso, and maybe LaVine.

As for the big changes, it already happened during the off-season, and at the start of the season, and that's the Dame and Harden trade. The next one will be at mid-season where we will see teams trading the players who aren't fit for their team. Speaking of not fit for their team, I remember a user here who is arguing that Jordan Poole will become an all-star, and might be a scoring champ. He's -16 on offense when he's on the court, and -15.5 in defense with a total combined of -31.5 (just saw it on YouTube). He can't handle the hype, he's trash, and he's all trash talk. He's becoming the next Dillon Brooks now. Cheesy

671  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: November 17, 2023, 07:16:37 AM
~
Would you invest on crypto, stocks or household when the cash is not the king?
Hell yeah!!! I will invest it on crypto, or whatever asset that I have access with. Real Estate, cryptocurrency, stock market, bonds, Index funds or whatever asset it is. Investing on an asset when you're country is suffering a hyperinflation is I think the best solution.

Yes there's a risk in investing into different asset, but that's way better than just holding straight up cash knowing that the buying power of that is going down at a rapid pace. On the other hand though, it's very easy for me to say these kind of things because I didn't ever experience hyperinflation yet, but I'm afraid for those people in those countries that are experiencing hyperinflation now that are just earning enough for their family and no extra money to spare to buy assets. Kind of unfortunate TBH.

You have 2 options though. Go to another country where there's no hyperinflation, but this is really hard, or work but don't get paid by your native currency and accept other currencies.
672  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading vs HODL - Personal Experience for Newbies on: November 17, 2023, 06:38:38 AM
Alright, Newbie, I will start without wasting your time. Bitcoin Trading will never be profitable in the long term as compared to HODL.
You will never win or become a millionaire if you decide to take leverage, use Future Trading, or even Spot Trading. You can never catch every move perfectly.
Direct to the point.
I'm just thinking that this advice are just for newbies out there because in general, you can get profit in trading still, but that would take time, experience, and money first before becoming an expert trader. All of the traders who are making money out of trading are all expert ones. Newbies will never win in the long run that's for sure.

If you are new and making a profit, that's called beginner's luck. That doesn't mean shit and no, you do not LEAVE your job to become a full-time trader.
Always collect Bitcoin, Spend at least 20% of your savings on collecting sats.
When I was a newbie in trading, when I did make some profits, me quitting my day job is coming out in my mind at that time, and I'm already thinking of becoming a full-time trader at that time. Good thing I didn't quit immediately because one wrong entry made me lose almost all of my money. That's thru leverage. I guess it would be better to just collect Bitcoins, and just hold it until the bull run happens. Smiley Less risky, less stressful, but more time-consuming though.

You suggested Bitcoin, and although it's the best cryptocurrency to buy currently, I would suggest to the newbies to make a research on those top altcoins out there, and at least research on them as well.

Bitcoin Halving is approaching, I would suggest all of you focus on buying more, avoiding selling, as these prices will never come in the future.
As many people suggests this, the more the price of Bitcoins goes up as it increases the demand. More people will get hyped thus, will buy Bitcoins even more. Well, base on history, Bitcoin's price goes up a few months after the halving, and I'm not saying that it will happen in the future though, but there's a high chance that it might happen, so to sum it up, just focus on buying Bitcoin like what OP shared, and whatever happens, don't invest your money into something that you don't even know.
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poloniex was hacked (Security Breach Discussion) on: November 17, 2023, 05:26:21 AM
Please is this a new hack? I thought they were recently hacked and the hacker agreed to the 5%bounty. This hacking is just getting too much
It's a new hack... I guess. This article has been posted a few days ago: LINK
What's good right now is that, the exchange resume their withdrawals already after what happened to them: LINK. You see it too much? It means one thing, and that is "THEIR SECURITY IS WEAK." They are focusing more on the marketing rather than the security of their own exchange.

~
Do you think that Exchanges and DeFI need more development and investments here or is this just something we have to lay down our heads and deal with?
Poloniex is one of the exchange that I've seen when I was starting in crypto in 2017 aside from Bittrex. It being hacked just shows that their security is weak to the point that they can get hacked that easily. They need to develop... or I should say focus more on the security of the exchange or else this might happen again, and again.

Hackings happening here and there just shows that the security of these Centralized Exchanges are weak. I guess it's a good thing that they are reimbursing it. Well, it's their fault after all so it's their responsibility. Hackings always happen that it came to a point that we see it as a normal thing already. More of these in the future. Smiley

Re: What would you tell your younger self to learn this space efficiently?
2 things.
1. Always hungry for knowledge - Don't stop learning. Businessmen even though they are considered successful by different people aren't stopping from reading books because they need it for their businesses. As for as average person, there are lots of information that we can get online. Some are for free, and some are paid, but the point is don't let ourselves to be stagnant. As much as possible, let's learn a new thing every single day whether it's new information, or new skill, or whatever new. Unfortunately, there was a time where I didn't learn anything for quite some time because of burnout.

2. Focus on buying established coins. - I tried investing into meme coin once, I also tried investing into an ICO once during it's hype. It's my first time to say it here, but I also invested into some DeFi projects in the past. All of them ended up as a loss for me. I also invested into NFTs during it's hype, and although I made some money on it, I still ended up losing some money. The mistakes that I've made in the past made me realize that it will be better for me to just focus on investing, and holding onto those top coins, and that's what I'm doing currently.

I would actually tell myself to keep all the BTCs that I have earned since 2017 from campaign signatures!

Back in 2017, I was a college student desperate in needing money in order to purchase study materials. Living with a family of 5 with a single dad is truly challenging- the priorities are somehow focused more on my younger siblings. As the eldest of all my brothers, I have this duty where I should also provide them the needs that they have whenever they ask for something.

Though this may be the case, I would still tell my younger self to HODL and remind myself that days will be better in the future.
Almost the same case as mine.

I started joining signature campaign somewhere in 2018 (Bitcoin paid), and I use a portion of my monthly Bitcoin earnings here to pay some monthly bills here. It wasn't the same anymore currently since I already have a job, but I can't imagine how many Bitcoins I converted just to pay those expenses. At the end of the day, we need it to survive so... yeah I guess there's nothing more to be disappointed on that one. What's important now is we both holding some Bitcoins that we get from signature campaigns. Cheesy

What's your opinion ? Shall we invest or just involve in quick trades ?
Quick trades can be done by those who have enough experience in trading. Fast trading is very risky especially when you are just starting. Fast trading most of the time only happens in futures when you have a high leverage. If you're just starting, just focus on spot trading. Be patient, and learn more.

Quote
Re: is it still risky to Invest into Altcoin now?
It will depend on the altcoin you are buying.

If you will buy altcoins that are already established like those at the top in terms of market cap, the risk would be lower compare to those altcoins that has lower market cap. It will also depend on your risk appetite. Are you an aggressive investor that can risk your money buying low market cap coins, or are you a conservative one who wants only to buy those top altcoins.

Investing in general is risky, but it will decrease as soon as you have enough knowledge, and you know what you're buying, and doing. Investing is risky, but you will not gain profit if you will not risk. Investing into altcoins always have risk, but you have to take that risk if you want to make money investing into it. Smiley

Re: Start with the little you have, you don't need millions of dollars to own BTC.
There are some reasons why people don't really buy or at least own Bitcoin.
- They have little to no knowledge about Bitcoin. They are afraid to lose their money.
- They have no spare money to start with.
- They have no interest in investing in it.

Yes, starting even with a small amount of money is already a good start, but it's just that, not all people who are capable of buying even a single Bitcoin are interested in buying it. It always comes back to how knowledgeable you are regarding Bitcoin because you will make better decisions if you have the knowledge. It doesn't matter how little your money is as long as you know what you're doing.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 16, 2023, 11:17:35 PM
Looks like the NBA made the decision to suspend Draymond for 5 games for his choke on Rudy Gobert. Honestly, I was expecting at least a 6 game suspension, but the NBA is pretty lenient when it comes to fighting (in my opinion). Draymond has a long history of this though, so I would’ve liked to have seen him get a little bit longer of a suspension.
Draymond keeps causing problems in three straight games making it hard for the Golden State Warriors. Instead of helping he's becoming a negative influence. Maybe it's time for him to retire and sort things out. As a Warriors fan it's tough to support his actions and it seems like he's not good for the league. I think suspending Draymond Green for 5 days is fair. His recent behavior on the court needs a timeout to keep things in check and maintain a positive sports environment.
I know, I know that Draymond has been playing like he's in the streets where he can just play with physicality, but that's the Draymond we knew all throughout his career in Golden State, and to say that he must retire just because of that incident is just ridiculous. You're a Warrior fan like you said and you want a player who helped them to get 4 rings to retire already? He must be near past his prime, but he can still contribute to the team, especially with the defense.

Also, it isn't 5 days, but 5 games where he will be losing around ~$760,000, and he might have additional fines in the future. I believe that Coach Kerr will just speak with him, and they've been together for a long time. I'm sure that Green will come back way better than how he played in the last 3 games.

The Lakers are “showing interest” in Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, & Alex Caruso. Basically, the Lakers are going to try all they can to get a win out of the Bulls need for a rebuild. With Anthony Davis having shown interest in going to Chicago, something big could be happening with this. Getting Zach LaVine and Caruso while dumping Anthony Davis would be a huge win for them in my book.
The question is who will be the center of the Lakers if Davis is traded? Hayes and Wood look like they aren't helping the team that much. Showing interest doesn't mean that it will push through at least in my perspective. Just imagine the Lakers without any reliable starting center. On the other hand though, they are trying to get the player who they didn't give the money that he needs, and that's Caruso. Overall, I don't see this happening just because of the fact that the Lakers will not have a center if they will trade Davis, but maybe they can still get either 1 of the three using other role players plus draft picks.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: This bullish momentum - Breaking through the $35,000 mark on: November 16, 2023, 10:29:59 PM
Right now, $35,000 is acting as short-term support because, within the past week, we've seen Bitcoin going sideways at the range of $35,000 - $38,000.

I will stick to my previous prediction that Bitcoin might reach as high as $40,000 by the end of the year. One bullish news can do the job, and I really hate to say this, but I think it will be an ETF-related news again. I don't know what, but it might be related to ETFs again. As for the ETF, the SEC can have its final decision until next year, so I also expect to see a major price movement in the first months of the year. In which direction? Depending on the decision of the SEC.

Anyway, it's good to see Bitcoin going as high as $35,000 currently. Just imagine those who bought at the bottom or near the bottom. They already doubled their money just by holding. Cheesy
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to bitcoin price if Solar superstorm 'wipe out the internet'? on: November 16, 2023, 08:42:10 AM
I did a quick Google search regarding this one, and I'm a bit afraid of what Solar Storm can do to our internet.
Just imagine those people who are very dependent on the internet. Just imagine those people who are working their living online.

The chances of the Earth being hit by a solar storm is around 1.6 - 12% (based on a Google search) which is kind of high TBH. On the other hand, do we really care about Bitcoin way more than other dangerous things that a solar storm can do to our planet? I mean might forget Bitcoin for a moment, and focus on my safety.

Anyway, 3 words if a solar storm will strike Earth. "It's a DISASTER."... or not depending on how strong it is. Cheesy As for Bitcoin, it will be inaccessible for at least weeks or months, so basically nothing will happen in terms of price... I guess.
680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 15, 2023, 11:56:15 PM
It needs to be a Clippers team and not just Harden, the thing is that they are trying to revolve around James and he's the newcomer and I don't think that will fit in. That's totally an offensive arsenal but I don't think it will work out to the very end, they are good when he's not there but right now it looks like a noob team.

But they are figuring it out and still haven't found a solution yet. It has already cost them a 5-game losing streak, which calls for desperate measures.
Probably, Coach Tyronn Lue is just trying this last option. You know, no player would be able to play happily if he is not being himself. That's why he wants James Harden to be himself and see the outcome of his game affecting the team.
I read a RUMOR on Facebook regarding what's happening with them in the locker room and apparently:
Quote
James Harden reportedly "WANTS OUT" of Los Angeles while Saudi Pro League still wants him with $900M of contract. Besides, Harden threw a chair in the Clippers locker room that inadvertently struck Kawhi Leonard.
TBH, this rumor is huge. Just after 5 games, he wants to get out of the Clippers already? Like I said, I will not be surprised if no other team wants him anymore after his contract this season because of attitude problems. It's my first time hearing that the Saudi Pro League wants him to play, and it's funny. Cheesy

Let Harden play off the bench instead.

Or it could be Westbrook. Either one of them could still play as a PG, so it's a coaching staff prerogative. Whoever is effective should be in the starting lineup.
If I were to pick between the 2, I would rather choose Westbrook to play off the bench.
Harden will not accept that role. Not with how high his ego is. Westbrook at least tried to play off the bench already when he was with the Lakers, and some time with the Clippers, but Harden? Since he became an all-star, he didn't start off the bench anymore, and he doesn't want that role.

Not sure if this has really been discussed her or not yet..but what do you all think about the Zach Lavine rumors?  As a Chicago Bulls fan, I think we got the better of the Jimmy Butler/Lavine trade, and he's been a fun and exciting player to watch these past few years, but it's time to blow it up.  Lavine is not good enough to be a teams leading star, and would fit much better as a number 2 or 3 option.  The Bulls aren't heading anywhere with this team, so time to move on a rebuild.  Thoughts?  Also what teams do you guys think he'd be a good fit for?
Not exciting TBH like the Lillard, or the Harden trade saga.

It's pretty obvious that the Bulls are like an average team even though they have stars like Vucevic, DeRozan, and Lavine. Both Lavine and the Bulls are exploring for potential teams that want him. The Lakers, and the Heat are the top teams that can get him, but TBH, it's pretty hard to know which teams are interested in him because we might see some other teams who are talking with their front office privately.
