Selling a set of coins, all mint condition:

2012 5 btc coin with hologram mispelling error,
Wow, there actually is a such thing. I thought spelling error was only on 2011 coins.

663  Other / Off-topic / [HELP] What Do You do on the Internet When You're bored (Besides masturbate) on: June 16, 2013, 08:35:13 AM
I recently came to the realization that I am spending WAYY too much on this site. Lets all be honest-I can be the only person who feels this way.

SO I would love to have a [serious] thread full of descriptions like the one below. If everybody suggested just one thing, it'd be worth it. SO-please suport!

My examples:
Youtube: To Catch a Predator, EVERYTHING Vice/VBS (their channel). Recently it has been "what would you do" videos where a news crew sets up an artificial scenario (ex: a very anti-semitic worker going off an a "Jewish Couple" who just walked in to see if they could hang a flier there). Plenty more where that came from. Just type "what would you" on YouTube and there you go!

Hope for and would REALLY appreciate suggestions

Thanks-lets embark on this journey back to amusement together.

**Oh, and every/any thing "adult" will be removed. Not denying the fact that plenty of us do "choke the chicken" sometimes, but its just not in good taste-thanks**
664  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Cards to Complement New Casascius Aluminum Bitcoins on: June 15, 2013, 10:15:03 PM
So, Casascius's new product is an aluminum bitcoin with no backing-you're supposed to make your own. If it was me, I would use bitaddress.org, generate a barcode for the public address and private key. I'd print on mailing labels or something. I would put the QR code of the private key on the back of the coin. I would set up a document explaining in greater detail what the coin is, how to redeem it, its public address, etc. I'd host it on any number of file sharing sites. I would then make a QR code of the link to that file. I would print it out and stick it where there is a designated spot on the card below. This way seems like the most efficient/effective way to use these coins.

However, it would be awfully confusing to someone if they just scanned the QR code on the back of the coin-they'd get a number of digits and have no idea what to do. Thats where the card I mentioned comes in. I have some professional business cards of the design below. They work perfectly to leave with one of these new Casascius coins (say...as a tip at a restaurant). The back of the card is just going to be a background of the image (you probably know it) like is on Casascius's site. I'm going to add a small "Vires In Numeris" in white font on the bottom center of the card. I'll get a picture up asap.

If you ordered some of these coins, I think you really need something like this. I'm not going to put a price because I always prefer agreeing to one on a case by case basis. However, I can assure you that the price for these will be peanuts (if you don't know the expression it means "very cheap"). I'll ship any quantity anywhere in the world. So, if you are interested, please just shoot me a PM!

The picture below is what the actual card looks like. It is designed to be the size of a standard business card (2''x3.5''), and so it may appear a little distorted-I just wanted to make it big enough to see clearly.

665  Economy / Goods / Re: [Group Buy] Casascius Aluminium Coins - 10 coins for 0.04 BTC (UK/EU/WW) on: June 15, 2013, 08:25:10 PM
God damnit I was thinking about doing it too lol. Good for you though.
666  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Valentine One Radar Detector on: June 15, 2013, 08:23:36 PM
I want to buy a Valentine One Radar Detector.
Mildly used is fine, just has to work on all bands.
We will use escrow, preferably by bitmit, so I know that I am buying a detector that works.

I will offer $250, but the price is negotiable depending on condition.

I don't know if you live in California, but this thing even at retail would pay for itself with one speeding ticket (I did 81 in a 70 and my fine was 400.xx). I'm seriously considering investing in one. Thanks for the backhanded suggestion!

RESTOCKED!
668  Economy / Goods / *Another One:1BTC Casascius blank w/case, materials to reload, instructions $$ on: June 15, 2013, 10:31:42 AM
Hi everybody,
I'm selling just one of my Casascius blanks (need some BTC). I have cleaned and polished it with brass cleaner-looks brand new. I stocked up and bought as many of these things as I could, because every single one that I sold at auction on eBay went for $120+ (one went for $127, the rest for above $150).
I'll include with it a hardshell case, a description of how to post it on eBay (must NOT post as Money), a couple Holograms (in case you make a mistake), and 2 copies of instructions on how to load it (so one you can just include with the blank if the customer on eBay opts to load it themselves, and you can keep a copy for yourself.
For all of this, including postage in the US (if international, add $3) for 0.235BTC. Thats hardly more than I paid to get the thing, plus I'm including everything mentioned with it. Oh, and this is a 2012 blank.
So, keep it yourself or make some money and sell it on eBay!

*If anyone is interested, I also have a 2011 (it had spelling error) blank. (pictured in case)*

669  Economy / Goods / Re: Morgan Silver Dollars on: June 15, 2013, 09:45:05 AM
These are as perfect silver plated replicas as you can get... All are from the sought after Carson City mint (CC).

Uhh what? So these are "Silver Plated Replicas" that were minted in Carson City? I don't think so. Sure they probably have a [crappy] CC mint mark, but thats it. Don't you think your entire posting is more than a LITTLE misleading? I'll clarify for everyone:

These coins are fake. They are only worth the scrap metal and 2 cents of Silver they are composed of.
These were NOT minted in Carson City, they were minted in some factory in China. All they have is a FAKE Carson City mintmark.

Its people like you who cause concern for other people over fake coins. You are de-legitimizing coin collecting and turning people away from it-and I strongly dislike you for that.

I'm sure you're thinking you'll sell them to some guy who will peddle them off to innocent people/collectors on craigslist, not knowledgeable enough to tell the difference and that they are FAKE.

So, I just want to take this opportunity to say

670  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling 1297.11 grams of silver (41.7030549 troy ounces) on: June 15, 2013, 09:24:44 AM
Would you piece it out? Thats quite the lot of sterling to sell. If it was .999 or 90% coinage it would be different. If you decide to piece it out, I'd be willing to buy some from you.
671  Economy / Speculation / Poll: Silver or Bitcoins? on: June 15, 2013, 04:05:19 AM
In the short term (say next 2 years), do you believe more in Silver or Bitcoins? In terms of potential for increase in value, I mean.
672  Economy / Goods / [WTS]Rare Coin/Bullion Grading*MODS:This can be considered either a Service/Good on: June 14, 2013, 07:45:43 AM
*MODS:This can be considered either a Service/Good. I'm not trying to spam*

In the world of numismatics, there are 2 types of coins: "raw" coins and "graded" coins. The vast majority of coins are "raw"-that is, they are not professionally graded and/or encapsulated (like any coin in your pocket). "Graded" coins are professionally graded based on their quality, wear, etc.

It does not make financial sense most of the time to get a coin graded-the process can be pricy. That is why you will most commonly find only rare/valuable coins graded (though they aren't always!). Once professionally graded, the value of these coins grows substantially.

For example, here is an UNGRADED coin going for $99 on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1921-PEACE-DOLLAR-KEY-DATE-CIRCULATED-/271221552561?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3f261075b1

The below is a graded coin by NGC. Now (and you can judge for yourself by the pictures), here is the same coin in what I consider extremely similar, or maybe even not-as-good of condition as the one above, going for $179:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1921-Peace-Dollar-NGC-AU55-HIGH-RELIEF-/130926604303?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1e7bd5700f

Please continue to do your own research to determine the value of paying to get a certain coin graded. You will ALWAYS (consider it a "law") see that graded coins are worth a SIGNIFICANT amount greater than their "raw" counterparts. So, if you have a rare coin(s) (a family heirloom, from a relative, etc), do yourself a favor by getting it graded, and honor them by acknowledging the coin's high status.

What I stand to gain from this is a possible SMALL commission, but more desirably a discounted grading rate based on quantity of coins submitted (These savings would most likely be passed down to you to a certain extent, too.)

FINALLY, there are a TON of "Coin Grading" companies out there. Almost all of them are complete scams-people have been able to get fake coins graded by these "companies"! And the variation of grades of coins in similar condition is absolutely ridiculous.

Thus, there are only 3 grading companies that the numismatic community holds in any regard. One is ANACs-although they are going down hill, and pretty fast. They graded Casascius coins! That represented a HUGE loss of respect by the snobby numismatic community. Furthermore, 2 of the shops I go to (I go to a few) refuse to buy or sell any graded and slabbed coins by ANACs.

That leaves 2 companies-NGC and PCGS. "PCGS" stands for Professional Coin Grading Service. They are held in high regard for their strict grading practices. However, their graded and slabbed coins I just do not find aesthetically pleasing (see below).

Finally, "NGC" stands for Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. NGC is the official grading service of the American Numismatic Association-a Congressionally appointed organization. NGC is also the official grading service of The Professional Numismatists Guild ("PNG").

To submit coins with the top companies, you have to pay for an annual [expensive] membership. Then, once a member you are only ELIGIBLE to submit coins to be graded-you still have to pay for their grading (Coin-Collecting is an expensive hobby).

I am a member of NGC (I can submit as many coins as I want for grading). I am sure you have realized the gist of this-you can get your coins graded by NGC through me and not have to pay for a membership. Also, I never have to physically touch/deal with your coins at all.

Another option is finding a number of people willing to submit coins for grading. It becomes INCREDIBLYcheaper per coin sent to be graded. Check this out and you'll see:

http://www.ngccoin.com/services/services.aspx

Anyways, do your own research, feel free to ask me any questions and PLEASE let me know if you want to get your valuable coins graded. I would LOVE to build-up quantity of coins to submit for grading-the price difference is astronomical!

Yes, doing the above would require you to mail your coins to me so I can send them out as a mass-invoice to NGC. I have absolutely nothing to hide. I have a VERY solid trade history on here. I would make the whole thing COMPLETELY transparent-all I want are discounts, and a small fee here or there if you submit your coin independently.

If you have ANY questions, please let me know (we can figure out logistics, too). Also, very importantly I suggest you do your own research on any rare coins/bullion pieces you have to figure out what your best options are as far as grading goes (happy to answer questions related to this). Anyways,

Thanks!

674  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1oz Bronze Bitcoins for Sale (75% copper) on: June 14, 2013, 06:35:11 AM
Those do look very nice. It's a shame they are novelty only and don't hold a value.  Undecided
With some simple machining you could easily make them bitcoin-holdable. It would just require some sanding on one side of the coin. Fortunately, adhesives bond very well to bronze (thats what 1BTC Casascius coins are made out of), so it would be really easy to apply your generic tamper-proof hologram to protect the BTC you load on here.

Also, I have to say-great work, they look awesome.
675  Economy / Goods / [WTS]2011 Casascius 1BTC Redeemed Blank (Spelling Error) [Cleaned/Loadable] on: June 14, 2013, 04:46:46 AM
Up for sale I have a 2011 1BTC Casascius redeemed coin. This was one of the first three Casascius coins I got and [regretfully] redeemed. It was not Series 2 w/the windowed first bits. It is the same blank that unredeemed versions are going $700+ for on eBay.
I have sold a number of Casascius 5BTC Blanks at auction on eBay. They all went for $150+, except for one that sold for $127. I clean and polish the coins and market them as reloadable. I include a case, tamper-proof hologram, and instructions on how to reload the coin.
The 5BTC blanks I sold on eBay were all 2012. Why am I not selling these myself on eBay, then? I made a stupid move and sold some with .05 BTC balance, prompting PayPal to suspend my account and call me an ecurrency dealer.
If you put these under the "collectibles" (and NOT money) category, and emphasize they contain no bitcoin value as-is (the customer has to add it themselves-these are either already prepped for loading or you send the customer all the materials they need to prep it for loading), PayPal literally has no ground to remove the listing or do anything to your account. Considering the 2012 5BTC sold for so much, I can only imagine what a 2011 BTC round will sell for. Of course, you could keep the round as a collectible yourself if you wanted.
Included will be a hardshell case, multiple holograms, and detailed instructions. I am asking 0.5BTC.

Alright, I'm really sorry guys, but I have to bail on this. I was making up the business cards (good quality paper, perforated so you can make them yourself) to leave with one of these coins, and then I realized that [for free] I could just stick the same QR code I was going to put on the back of the coin as a sticker, on the business card. I apologize for being so cheap.

Again I apologize, and best of luck to you guys and whoever is heading this up.

I would actually like more than 100 - could do whole bag... But the shipping's dear.

OK, I'll have the first 100 - or 200 if there's not enough interest.
sounds good. can you guys please post your location, too?
