681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 12, 2023, 05:35:45 PM
People are saying that gambling is not good so nobody should involved themselves in it. Fathers/Mothers (parents) are shouting to their sons and sometimes beating them all because of gambling. If you are a gambler, the society sees you as a bad boy or person or a waste person in the family. Parents would be saying "look at your age mates, they are going to school and become a successful persons in the society, you are here playing gambling". They would even say, gamblers steal and thieves.
And really when you look at some of those boys they play Draft game morning till evening. Upon all these allegations against gambling. People are still Gambling. WHY? Is There Any Mystery Behind?

I think that your problem is an overly narrow view on all this. Perhaps it is on purpose, to see what answers you get. But the right answers are there for long, what I will say it's not new.

Gambling is about fun and adrenaline. It's like a roller-coaster, but with money and lately on your own chair.
But like with pretty much everything else, too much of it is not good. If you are not careful, you can lose your money. If your mindset is wrong (eg. "earn/make money", "recover the loses") then you can easily fall into an endless pit. And obviously, the younger you are, the bigger the chances you'll end there, just because your brain is not trained to fully understand the risks.

Gambling is about having fun. Of course, the bigger the money and the risk, the more the adrenaline and some will also say the fun is bigger (I don't know, I don't play big money). One has to think it over (for real), assess the risks and the benefits and if he wants to throw in a couple of bucks now and then for some fun, why not? But be careful to not exaggerate.

683  Economy / Exchanges / Re: SEC sues Coinbase for listing securities on: June 06, 2023, 04:10:02 PM
SEC claims that [~] that are all listed on Coinbase are securities.

Did they manage to properly define (in legal terms, like for business) how to decide whether a coin/token is security or not?
Because afaik they didn't and then they may have a very weak case.

Bitclin price react badly , what is probably just a buying opportunity

Is that the "decline" version of Bitcoin? Cheesy
Yeah, traders always seek the (shorting) opportunity in this kind of news, nothing new here.
And halving is yet 24h closer1 Wink

1 24h closer than it was yesterday, obviously

687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool hit my usual 15sats/vbyte today on: June 05, 2023, 09:21:40 AM
You can pay for 5sats/byte if you're not in hurry, maybe it only need 24 hours your transaction will be included into the block by the miner.

Since the week-end is over I think that this would be a somewhat risky move; I'd expect the fees rise again until next Friday, with or without the ordinals' spam.
So for that one has to be more than "not in a hurry": also prepared to find his tx dropped after some days.
688  Other / Meta / Re: Finally! Satoshi Nak-AI-moto told me why he handed over the forum to Theymos on: June 04, 2023, 06:00:33 PM
Like everyone else in the bitcoin community we all have a special question for Satoshi Nakamote, so two AI engineers created a bitcoin GPT called talk2satoshi.

Um.. no. If the community has questions for Satoshi, they are... for Satoshi, not for impersonators, no matter how good, how intelligent or how automated they are.
I see this a handy tool for all current and future Satoshi impersonators, hence I don't expect this story have a happy ending...
689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to receive L-BTC from exchanges to Electrum wallet on: June 04, 2023, 05:53:18 PM
hello i want to know how can i receive my liquid BTC from exchanges to electrum wallet via lightning network
what are the steps that i should do do i have to create a lightning channel on electrum and can i
recover the btc spent for opening the channel later and how much are the total fees for opening and
closing the lightnging channel since we want to use lightning channel to avoid high btc fees if we gonna
spend more then it doesnt make sense

L-BTC is not BTC. L-BTC a sidechain and afaik Electrum doesn't support it. You may want to use Blockstream Green wallet for L-BTC, since both are Blockstream "products". But I don't know if it supports LN.
Or use an actual Bitcoin wallet that supports LN and forget about L-BTC.

PS. Imho there are for LN easier options than Electrum if you are not a tech head.

Mi-a sosit masinutaaa!

Supeeer!

Asta e... Tu ai reusit sa participi? (are rost sa il mai tin in zona de concursuri la care participarea s-a incheiat?)

Don't lose your bitcoin to them.

It could be useful to not write the website as a link, maybe put it into a code block, maybe even add spaces between the characters so it's not seen by crawlers as some sort of backlink..
Plus it makes it more visible for anybody looking for it.

Phew, I'm back to the comfy zone! I am busier than usual, still, the lack of "bitcoin is dead" news lately were worrisome. I almost thought that something bad is bound to happen.
But no, they managed to release the news, so we're good again for a while. Thank you CNBC. Cheesy Cheesy

PS. Didn't you people start counting the days until the next halving?  Cheesy
695  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: is chipmixer .be legit or fake on: June 03, 2023, 04:33:39 PM
legit or fake since i heard that original chipmixer .com seized by FBI

There were a lot of fake clones of CM even in the days it was operating. Of course, the original was seized and the fake clones keep operating, because... the agencies work by Murphy's laws  Cheesy
So I would avoid those sites.

There are plenty of mixers advertised here on bitcointalk, they may not be for free like CM was, but at least they do operate.
696  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-11-24] Starling Bank bans Bitcoin transactions on: June 03, 2023, 02:43:16 PM
In my opinion, the UK government is going to do everything in their power to try to make it easier for people to use cryptocurrency as a means of payment.

1. This is a rather old topic.
2. You are not wrong, they don't want to fall behind. Still, they won't do much, your expectations from the politicians are way too high. I think that they might copy this or that from US, which may actually be in the bad/wrong direction in the near future. Later on.. we'll see...
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10% Cashback by paying with Bitcoin in more than 250 Shops in Lugano on: June 02, 2023, 02:49:04 PM
The update goes thus, get up to 10% Cashback by paying with Bitcoin in more than 250 shops across Lugano.

I've noticed the news in the feed, but since no source link was provided (on Twitter) one question did remain in my head: since it's not a rebate, but a cashback, is some special wallet or software needed for this? You know, it may be, and probably identity-linked, and then the privacy conscious people may just pass this, having yet another great thing that's only on paper.
698  Local / Minerit / Re: Ferma minerit on: May 27, 2023, 06:28:01 PM
699  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Doing scam for Using AI Tool in Signature Campaign on: May 27, 2023, 06:16:39 PM
I don't have any experience with that tool so I don't know how accurate it is, hence I've given that account only a neutral tag.
This should draw enough attention and I expect campaign managers will check this out.
700  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [23-05-25] Will Bitcoin help Ron DeSantis become President of the United States? on: May 27, 2023, 04:11:42 PM
“The current regime, clearly, they have it out for Bitcoin,” DeSantis said. “And if it continues for another four years, they’ll probably end up killing it.”

He is exaggerating greatly. Sadly I expect one of the things his campaign will show is how few people actually care about bitcoin. And it will not be a correct measure for that either since, as I noticed he is exaggerating, other bitcoiners may see that too and might not care about a pretty much lost cause (i.e. DeSantis).

But I was proven wrong in my predictions in other US presidential campaigns too, so take my words with a pinch of salt, just for case the reality will prove me wrong and will make me an interestingly nice surprise. Cheesy
