681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MONEY FLOW Trends in CRYPTOCURRENCIES on: February 28, 2024, 05:37:14 PM
Isn't all the money going back to USDT after the hype is over?  even in the correction period, the money goes to the stablecoins but after this transfer, investors would want to move to something else that is unknown. but all trends die out, especially in the bear market and if you stay in crypto as always then the money flows goes to usdt still.

dune.com is interesting since they show piecharts and transfer trends which you can see details.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you in your holdings? on: February 28, 2024, 04:46:48 PM

i have just the same rate like 6/10 but i'm always ready to sell them all when the time is right. but i'm confident enough that these tokens are not going to become a scam in the future since they are already up on the market since 2017. so even if i don't sell them before the bear market begins, these tokens will still have a value. but this is going to be a gamble too especially when the future isn't very much unknown to us.

$Sol, $Matic, $Bgb, and $Doge. seems a good choice of investment though but to all we invest, it's still going to be different depending on the price we start buying these altcoins.
683  Economy / Economics / Re: Why no info about how serious are USA financial situation now ? on: February 27, 2024, 06:22:09 PM
It is weird to see a small number of people who are still in denial specially since this is not the first time US economy is in such a catastrophic situation on the brink of another collapse.
It is even weirder to see bitcoiners in denial. I would understand other people but you'd expect those who are into something called Bitcoin that was born out of the ashes of the US economic collapse of 2008 wouldn't deny another similar situation!

At the end of the day, despite being weird this is not that surprising at all.
When we look back, this is just history repeating itself. In the years leading to the 2008 crisis, there were loads of people who denied closeness of collapse and every day that it hadn't happened yet they would have looked at the markets and numbers and said "See the banks are are fine and growing, stock market is green and booming, blah blah blah". Grin
Of course there is always others who see past the manipulated stats by these fraudulent centralized organizations.

What's even more odd is people making all of these claims, yet back it up with absolutely nothing.  It's quite clear those who've got knowledge and experience in the space, and those who just go off their gut feelings, or a few news articles.

the billionaires know what's going to happen which is why they are selling their holdings, even JPMorgan sold its shares. Bezos sold his $2B Amazon stocks for the 3rd time this month. they know how bad things but if the government makes a statement about an economic collapse, people will buy in panic.

but worse of all, if the US collapses the rest of the world could go to its knees too. is a huge responsibility for the US as well so its best to just prepare for something to happen if you are already seeing signs.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Previous ATH achieve before bull? on: February 27, 2024, 06:04:09 PM

i'm sure we are already in bull run. you can see the prices of coins are already up. BTC is $56K, only 4k left and we hit the previous ATH. if you bought BTC below $30k last year, you can already feel how safe your capital is.

bull run usually boosts after halving but this time seems different and this could be because of the investor's speculation to hit way above $100k as institutions are coming into crypto. you can wait til there is a correction probably in the next few weeks or a month to buy but after halving, i think green candles could go way higher.
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cash (Paper Money) vs Monero on: February 27, 2024, 04:24:53 PM
Cash was once considered an effective way to hide transactions in the real world. With the increased use of surveillance technology, it is not as effective as it once used to be. In today's world, almost all transactions are done on the internet. Using cash is not possible on the Internet and that is why cryptocurrencies were invested. The primary purpose was to remove the fiat footprint and reduce transaction charges. With the innovation of technology in the last 10 years, it is now not considered more secure and that is the reason why we see privacy coins in the market. I would say more than cash it is better to use Monero if you want your financial footprint on the internet to be private.

cash is still the most effective way to make transactions with no trace. if the transaction is illegal and there is no need for a receipt then the drug cartel knows too well how to do it. Monero sure is quite useful for online transactions, it is just not very safe since the eyes of authorities have been watching this coin for years and who knows you may already be making transactions to authorities.

Cash not circulating anymore then XMR could be useful but so is BTC which is pretty much what the merchants are willing to accept than XMR.
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 27, 2024, 03:58:49 PM
This is legal in our country provided that you ask permission from authorities, they allow gambling like card games and color games they allocate a fee, or what we call in our country a "tong" for the family of the bereaved so they can cover the expenses of the family during their hard times.
Do you have a similar practice in your country and is this legal in your country?

I often play games during the wake to keep up with friends and relatives of the bereaved this is to sympathize with the family, these are friendly games and the tong will help the family, it's been with this tradition ever since in our country, and I believe it will keep on as long as there are families who need to cover expenses of the family's who are left.
Tong? I'm afraid it's not practised in my country. This is even the first time I am reading a practice like that. I'm curious though, it would be nice if you could add the name of your country to the OP so that we can at least know where such is being practised. Or better still, the continent you are to have a clue if you do not want to add the name of your country. This practice is worth doing, it's a very good means to cater for the bereaved, at least for a while until they find firm feet again. Of course, in my thought, the rich might go against it, but for those who are poor, it will go a long way to help them.

How I wish I could introduce this in my community as well, but the issue is that I live far from my ancestral home, and to do this in an urban area will take a lot of orientation and resources which I do not have. Well, I wish those who are doing it well. Perhaps one day, the NGOs that have the needed resources can spread it across, being a way to help.

Nonetheless, in my country, we do not just leave the bereaved like that, we drop cash envelopes for them depending on the closeness. This, I believe is similar to "tong. " Though playing games could motivate one to play more against an opponent which could be more money for the bereaved.

Philippines that's where this tradition is very common.  "Tong" if i'm not mistaken is just a slang word for a small fee when a gambler wins the pot. this fee will generate funds for the wake to keep running til the day of burial.  i'm not really aware of the history of the word but its just what's been called since the time i was aware of it.

when my grandpa died, it took a week of wake that his basement was like a betting house. drinks were served including cervesa and coffee and cookies which these are funded by the "tong".
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you were Satoshi Nakamoto, what would you do? on: February 27, 2024, 03:24:05 PM

let's say real Satoshi comes out. satoshi doing any of these questions will affect the crypto market. satoshi sending a single satoshi from his wallet will plummet BTC price and right there and then, he can never hide ever again. people will be following him wherever he goes.

the moment he sends BTC, Bitcoin will not be decentralized anymore and that's what it takes to make the coin no different from other altcoins.
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ICO in 2017-2018 left the strongest impression on you? on: February 26, 2024, 06:51:53 PM
Lots of questions. Yeah i did participate but in less projects ICOs. I just divided my budget and invested small money in some ICOs. But most of ICOs were scam. I can remember a token name EarthBook maybe. Team collected a lots of money from token sale. They could develop that project as they had enough fund but they vanished without any reason lol. And there are many projects, did same thing. I mean turned out to be scam
I remember that the ICOs of 2017-2018 had softcap (minimum capital) and hardcap (maximum capital). The ICO will end when the amount raised reaches the hardcap, meaning all tokens are sold. The ICO will be considered a failure and the project cannot operate if the amount raised does not reach the softcap, or the team has to change its development strategy.

A lot of ICOs reach softcap or hardcap but the project disappears because they were created as a scam in the first place. Another possibility is that after having so much money, tens of millions of dollars, many teams no longer have the motivation to develop products, they need time to rest and enjoy. I'm not sure what EarthBook's capabilities are, but I condolences to you for your unhappy memories in the crypto market.

While Ethereum certainly made a significant impact during that time, another ICO that left a strong impression on me was EOS.IO. Their ambitious goal of creating a scalable and user-friendly blockchain platform for decentralized applications (dApps) caught my attention. EOS.IO aimed to address some of the scalability issues faced by Ethereum, offering faster transaction speeds and lower fees. The project's innovative consensus mechanism, Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS), also intrigued me with its potential to improve scalability and governance. EOS.IO's successful ICO and subsequent development efforts demonstrated the growing demand for scalable blockchain solutions and the potential for real-world impact. It was truly fascinating to witness the evolution of the project and its contributions to the blockchain ecosystem.
I have also followed EOS since 2017 and its ICO 4B USD, currently I am still a translator for EOS Vietnam to update the latest information from the EOS ecosystem. I think EOS is the project with the best and most innovative technology in the blockchain market, many features that Dan introduced 7 years ago are still being learned by many other blockchains. Unfortunately, EOS was abandoned by BlockOne and has had many financial problems over the years. The project is not promoted effectively to reach users and investors. I hope the new proposals regarding RAM and Bitcoin Layer-2 can help EOS get back into the race.

most projects that Dan started, he also left and then the project died. almost all his projects, It is surprising Bitshares is still in the market but the STEEM continues to be traded in the best exchanges.

i still have EOS left staking RAM and CPU, i think there are only a few of the investors anymore who are trying on this token. there are popular dapps on EOS that users are enjoying still to this day. i still am getting some EOS now and then. the token is accepted in many casinos too.

689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing on: February 26, 2024, 06:34:31 PM

it's politics so whichever the benefit politicians can go to that extent to get votes. the quote was cut.  i do think he is aware of what is going on with currencies, CBDC, and crypto since he's been an investor all his life.  in the end, Trump still likes the USD. this is his last conclusion to the question of Laura Ingraham

this is a soft stance to BTC though and Trump already benefited from the NFTs he sold in the past and he even sold his ETH too early from this bull run.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 26, 2024, 03:31:16 PM
not sure also whether we have a similar culture with other countries regarding this but probably the Latinos or the Hawaiians.
I live in Latin America, and it's not a common practice in the country where I live. Actually, I didn't even know people do this kind of thing, so it sounded really strange and uncommon to me, as something inappropriate for a situation where everyone adopts a formal stance towards each other, where people don't joke around, neither speak too loud, express joy or laugh. Wakes are very introspective occasions, where it seems each person reserves their time to reflect deeply and pay tribute silently to the person who has left us. In our culture, and western cultures in general, I think the least thing someone would think in a moment like that would be to gamble.

Death is a taboo in western cultures: a moment of sadness and despair in many cases, while gambling is related to joyness, excitement, leisure and pleasure. Therefore, people don't mix both.

sorry to assume we have a similar tradition about death. i was just comparing cultures since our countries were under Spanish for centuries and we adopted some of theirs. while we also associate death with sadness and despair, we gamble in the wake for the people who attend the wake will last til morning and at the same time it generates funds for the family.

we do sympathize with the family of the dead. by attending his wake, is enough of a message that a person remembers when he was still alive.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 26, 2024, 02:53:10 PM
not sure also whether we have a similar culture with other countries regarding this but probably the Latinos or the Hawaiians.

it's the easiest to learn when you are just 15 years old. a friend died of an overdose, his family owns a pharmacy.
i remember my first table card game at a friend's wake where a crowd surrounds the table while gamblers watch over my cards. those guys are going to look at how good you are at arranging cards in a game called "chikicha". 3 cards as head, then 5 cards as the body, and 5 below. i'm not sure what others call this game though.

692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Ryan Bourland Cruiserweight 8 Rounds March 2 on: February 26, 2024, 02:35:39 PM

Honestly, I'm not sure if Bourland is a good boxer, but since Jake Paul is not really a natural boxer, I'm thinking maybe Bourland's experience will be a big factor for him to succeed in this fight. However, when I see the betting odds, I'm a little doubtful about the chance of Bourland because bookies wouldn't list him as an underdog if they know he has a good chance of winning. Most likely, there is information we don't know that they do, and we should find that out. Maybe I will still proceed with betting on Bourland to win, but I will likely minimize the bet though.

Here is highlight of some of his fight
RYAN BOURLAND HIGHLIGHTS HD

he has a good offense but Jake Paul can easily counter that because Ryan is not a hard puncher his style is very amateur so he will not pose a challenge against Jake Paul this is going to be a relatively easy fight for Jake Paul its another bounce fight on his loss from Fury.
Jake Paul should fight a bigger name, not someone who just knows boxing, someone who can give him a good fight and is popular among in the boxing community.

so much for his plans to be a champ since Jake tried fighting someone with a name. if it's not undefeated i guess he'd settle for undisputed by fighting weaker opponents of his choice. i think he has to create another boxing federation for it to come true. he already created a boxing promotion which is the Most Valuable Promotions. its time to create his boxing federation and hail himself a champ.

i actually couldn't see the fight on stake. but the above odds seem very obvious.

693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo vs Jermall Charlo 4th May 2024 in Las Vegas on: February 26, 2024, 01:47:55 PM
As expected Canelo preferred Jermall over Benavidez I don't think Jermall can do better than his brother although he is a better version Canelo is just too powerful and too skillful for the Charlo brothers, although Jermall cannot be considered a cherry-picked fight for me since he is also a champion, it's just Benavidez is a more challenging fight than Jermall, he can bring more to the boxing community.
The boxing experts were right when they said Benavidez is not on Canelo's radar, although Benavidez has earned his right to fight Canelo, when you are on top you have the luxury to fight who you want to fight, this is to protect your status, and this is not right.

Canelo vs Benavidez is not possible anymore unless there is a big offer from the Saudis to fight there. Jermall is no match for Canelo, but i think Jermall also insists on this fight to avenge his brother. would it be Crawford as his next fight after this?  this will be a bigger fight as they are not expecting Canelo going to fight Benavidez. both of them already moved on to fight someone else. not the most anticipated match-up, they usually go for the biggest fight at the end of the contract but Caanelo is shamelessly picking the easy.

694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Unusual Story that Reflects the Current Gambling Addiction Reality on: February 26, 2024, 01:20:40 PM
Today, I sat amongst a group of people and listened to them as they shared a story that indirectly reflects how terrible the spate of gambling addiction is. It became evident to me that this addiction transcends demographics such as age, marital status, ethnicity, and religious beliefs, but appears to be more prevalent among males.

In this group a person shared a story of how a married reached out to her for medical assistance to support his wife terminal illness treatment. Instead of providing his wife's account details as requested, he offered his own. Concerned that the funds might be misused, particularly for gambling, the person offering assistance insisted on the wife's account details. However, the conversation ended there, with no further response from the man.

he stranger offering aid had no prior acquaintance with the husband. Why then was there apprehension that the funds might fuel gambling rather than support the wife's medical needs?

This short story reflects the current reality we live in.
Chosen gambling over your wife's health is practically being stupid. That is not an addiction that's foolishness. Even an addicted gambler won't do that in that situation. It just pained me how people are showing how crazy and foolish they can be in reality. They make bad decisions and hinder the happiness and life others then later blame it all on addiction. Am more concerned because people take the word addiction using it as an excuse to do bad stuff. Imagine someone open a random fire in the street killing individuals then later he would say he was an addict in alcohol or drugs.

Mehn these persons are psychopath and they should be taken to where people with that disabilities are. Or however be eliminated from the society. I dont think it should be tolerated anymore.

it is possible actually. the addict's judgment is already clouded. we've all heard of the story of a drug addict whose willing to sell their grandma's coochie so they could snort again. this addiction is not so different from the gambling addict.

anyone who would offer financial assistance will also think the funds should go as intended. the stranger knows the money might just be used for gambling.  an addict would do terrible things for his addiction.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 25, 2024, 07:37:06 PM
So my gut feeling turned out to be right and Ortega grabbed a win. I feel sorry for Yair, but respect to Brian for that beautiful art triangle choke.
I think Ortega proved to be worthy of another title shot. Looking at his record, and not counting that shoulder injury, he only lost to Volk by decision and to Max Holloway by doctor's stoppage.
This boils down the number of potential opponents for Topuria's next fight to 3, in order of likelihood: Volk (rematch), Holloway (provided he doesn't get destroyed by Gaethje in the UFC300 and Ortega.

And if the Octagon fights were not enough, there were some fan brawl, apparently uninterrupted by security, because... Mexico.
https://youtu.be/n3sEe5Zb61I?si=ByHztwYEtSbBs-jh&t=177

Ortega vs Tuporia?  it may be just that Tuporia is much more well-rounded and can hit harder than him. if he didn't win with Volkanovski and Max, less chance of winning in fighting Tuporia. Ortega vs Volkanovski 2 would be more possible.

at the beginning of R1 Yair was winning and then giving his back to Ortega and was mounted. Yair lost hope already after seeing he lost R1 and R2, he was easily mounted in the 3rd round with no struggle, and he's ready to give up.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of cryptocurrency. on: February 25, 2024, 07:01:03 PM

the future is stablecoins and the government today will not have to build a CBDC from scratch because they already have controlled projects such as the tether and usdc. these are the obvious stablecoins that we will be using openly regardless of the threat in using them.

since governments and companies are applying AIs, i think they will have a huge database of crypto wallets that are linked to each other which these wallets are also linked to the banks and e-wallet fiat currency we are using. but more than likely if crypto users are to fight for privacy, more altcoins are going to be adopted by crypto community.
697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: February 25, 2024, 06:25:57 PM
What a clickbaity title.
See, the rate at which women participate in gambling is still substantially lower than men.
Match pickers aren't actually an example of female participation in gsmbling. Of such a person is a woman, it's just indication of taking advantage of men's urges. As with any media operation, a match picker online would have other people supporting him or her, both men and also women, but since it has to do with sports probably mostly men. So we need better indications if we are to claim that the participation of women in gambling is increasing.

lol possibly. but i think this is going to be related to Gender equality which is where this thread is going to.

it's not unusual anymore in our time where women are doing things that men usually do. like becoming a gambler. it's not even surprising nowadays to see a woman dealing cards at live casinos and sometimes players are just watching the cleavage.

~snip~

Undoubtedly over time more and more women will be involved in gambling as they become more independent and there are already many examples of women who have achieved great success not only in gambling, but also in other areas.

Earlier in my country it was difficult to see a woman driving a car, but today almost every second car is driven by a woman. I am sure that the time will come when a woman in a bookmaker's office will not be something extraordinary, as it happens nowadays.

It's where things are going especially when men are not working. in times when the economy is not so great, women can work.  a few days ago, i saw a woman operating a welding machine.
698  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession soon? on: February 25, 2024, 04:51:41 PM
People might be aware that some of the esteemed and largest organisations are laying off their employees left right and centre, are we heading into recession? Because I have seen my colleagues getting laid off and it's been months they are unable to find a job. Either we are heading towards recession or globally companies overhired the employees post COVID hence clearing the additional manpower. I am bit convinced that it's like recession sort of thing and not sure to over hiring. Share your thoughts on this crisis which has left a good amount of people without any work.
the global economy is seriously in a messy situation right now and it's sad that most news headline is centred on wars, crime and negative reports in the business world. A I had also joined in contributing to the laying off of somany workers because of the need to cut down cost and coupled with the how most jobs could easily be replaced with th AI, it sure breaths out threat to all working population to tighten thier seat belt and put in extra effort if they have any plans of continuing in the jobs they are currently doing.

agree with that. AI has advanced quickly and companies are preparing to just implement AIs and robotics. the layoffs are just the start because in my country the rivers seem to have dried up and rice fields may not produce enough rice to provide for the country. recession is nothing compared to what's coming. because sooner the strong countries are going to be plundering the weaker countries to get more resources.

the news is often just about wars and negative reports are distractions that people will not mind the recession.
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Have Different Perception Of Gambling Operators on: February 25, 2024, 03:51:40 PM

husbands or fathers playing in the cockfighting arenas are wasting much time of the fathers that should have been spent on their families that's why the wives are complaining so much. i personally know some wives, who know their husbands will go home empty-handed again every Sunday because of gambling and then drink tanduay til midnight. it's the usual routine every Sunday for the rooster boys.

playing the lottery won't consume hours and hours of the husband so the wives won't mind him spending $0.20 for the ticket.

$3000 for a single match? that's huge. was it bull run that time?  and did you regret it?  one influencer lost $4000 in baccarat and turned into a monster after he lost the amount.  Grin

the highest by far that i bet on a single match was $70 for to crawford vs spence fight. i'm comfortable although the win isn't that much. i was in a hurry in betting since io was only reminded of the day when the fight was to happen. the amount is the only left in my account actually and its meant to gamble so yes i'm comfortable losing it but i won,
