Congratz Kexkey  on win.  And ouch this one did not go the way I was hoping it would.  +20 is higher then I like to see.

Hopefully next week will be easier, but it's starting pretty strong it looks like.

doesn't look great, looks like we have another 100PH push
722  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Re round three of Avalon group buy. interest page. on: February 06, 2016, 08:08:57 PM
if the price is a little bit lower I could be interested on this third wave.  Grin

$875 is the price  Wink
When phil confirm I will confirm if yes or no.  Grin I love this gear. My first Avalon 6 is running perfectly.

Rev 2 is louder but 3,8 th

My Avalon6 is up and running.  Another 3.8TH on the pool!

Sorry, my power cycling to rearrange things didn't bring a block.

Mine too, the rev 2 is a nice upgrade except for the fan change ;-)
724  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: February 05, 2016, 11:14:23 PM
My version 2 of this miner has arrived and is now hashing.

Compared to the experiences shared here, they have definitely changed the way the voltage is read in the new ones.  Actually, I do not trust the new reading in the UI at all.  For one, it is all over the place.  I started the miner up with my supply set at 11.7V at the multimeter and immediately was getting 12.5V in the GUI  Shocked !!  That freightened me for a minute but then it went down to 11.9V in the UI on its own (no change on the multimeter).  I gradually brought the supply up to 12.15V on the multimeter where it began reading 12.2V in the UI again.  Since then the UI has been swinging all over the place from 12.0V to 12.3V.  I really hope I have mine set right, but I'm not very confident in it.

I'm not certain yet, but it appears that when the fan RPM goes up the voltage reads lower in the UI.

For my own sanity check, what hash rate should I expect on a version 2 at 12.2V?

My 4K IBM volmeter is at 12.13v UI show 12.1-12.2 hashing 3750-3800.

So from my Rev 2 perspective, you can trust the voltage for a Rev 2, Rev 1 not exact

What ? another group by ?

If they drop the price, I will think about it  Cheesy

Just one more ...  Grin Grin

I'm quite happy with my new home. I hope my 29TH can finally crack my first block !

Keep calm and mine on !  Cool

My Rev 2 is showing 12.1-12.2 and my Rev 1 11.9-12 with the same 4K IBM PSU showing 12.13V at the voltmeter.

They made a change with the voltage control in the Rev 2, not sure i'm going to push the voltage anymore.

Rev1: 3419 GH/S
Rev2: 3784 GH/S

IMO, it's really a good miner.

Phil, Thanks again for both group by !  Grin

Yeah the new Fan is clearly not as good as the first one sound wise.

I'm going to replace it.

The pinch isn't cool (Not that bad but still) vs the Rev 1.

EDIT: Right off the bat (2 min only) but pushing 350 more GH
729  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 04, 2016, 09:18:35 PM
Aries, I have two S3's, one pointed at each pool. Basically because I started with Bitminter when I first got into mining using the brilliant client program DrHaribo had made and also because Kano and Ck pretty much made it possible for everyone to mine by creating cgminer.

Kano.is has more blocks per given time (at the moment) but due to the high pool hashrate I get a minimal sum from each one. Bitminter has a few blocks every so often and I get a better share but due to the gap between blocks it works out near enough the same per day.

That's just my findings though with my 940ghs/avg. Needless to say I wont be going to any other pools as I'm quite happy with both  Smiley

Great simple explanation ! ;-)

How louder is the new fan ?

I guess they needed the extra power since they hash a bit more then the Rev 1 ?

I don't give a damm about Tim's prediction. Who the hell is that guy anyway ?

I just never take a decision simply based on a pure graphic/mathematics speculation. Whatever if he's been right in the past.

I like to see people speculate and been wrong or good. There is line that I do not prefer to cross and that is mixing a bunch of speculation into 3 sentence and sounds like the end of the fucking universe is about to hit the door and based on what ? More speculating stuff ?

It always all good until it fails you.

I'm moving in. Since I started, I never solve a block yet. Hope I do here Tongue

I should be at full throttle in a few hours.

I've solved a block 48h after joining this pool, in fact it was my first block EVER since I started mining in late December. Cheesy

I started at around 6B diff ;-)

739  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM 4KW PSU (Dual DPS-2000BB) Breakout Boards and Packages!!! on: February 02, 2016, 03:50:52 AM
I'm back and will be replying to PM's for the next 6 hours...

Thanks for the link to Kilo's mods.  That is a fantastic solution that doesn't require the early-rev PSU's, and saves me from soldering the damn SMD chips & pots! Very cool and a great solution.  Another clean way to do it would be to use a stepped drill bit until the adjust pot is accessible.

I did the drill thing on the 1200's and takes and extra 2 minutes  Wink

I will do the same ! Wink
740  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: IBM 4KW PSU (Dual DPS-2000BB) Breakout Boards and Packages!!! on: February 01, 2016, 09:20:23 PM
Not sure Kilo,  when I was testing via the EVGA which connects the S7 to my 120V outlet to my Wemo Insight, it was showing pulling 1540W at the wall.  I would assume the EVGA G2 1300W efficiency rating is similar to the IBM PSU or worst as the 2KW PSU is not Platinum.    So if I use 1540 x 90% which I doubt the IBM PSU is that efficient = 1386W x 3 =4158W.  Seems overloaded to me but I don't have any tools to measure wattage for my 240V line.

Also I think your math above may be off by 1 digit perhaps typo or close key, but 1290W at 93% efficiency from Bitmain info x 3 S7 is 3870W.  These PSU are no where near 93% and even if they can get 90% they're at 100% load.  I think people are saying these are somewhere in the high 80s range efficiency right?  That would make it way over.  I'm running them now and the garage is plenty cold so it's not an issue right now, but concern when spring / summer hits.

You are correct, I calculated at 1210 (oops), Finsky has corrected me below.  But to clear up, the PSU puts out 2000 watts and the efficiency has to do with the draw at the wall and not how many watts are put out on the 12 volt side.

@Finsky, do all of the revisions have the voltage trim pot on the inside or only the older revisions?  I want to order some more packages but do not necessarily need the trim on the breakout board since it is so easy to adjust on the inside.  thanks

Jabber confirmed me that up to Rev10 they have all the internal Pot.

HerbPean- Here is a link to some useful information I found in my searches to adjust trim pot for my REV1 DPS-2000BB. (From an RC Car forum) From the reading, REV9M and higher require modification before the trim pots on those PSUs can be modified.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=18117345&postcount=611

They still have the two pots to adjust the Amp and Voltage. You can't just use jabber external control without doing the modification but you can still change the Voltage with the internal pot.

The one on the right is the voltage adjustment and the one to the left is the amperage adjustment (I do not mess with that one - Wink

Took off 6 screws to get the top off, cut off that piece with some snips, and back together all in less than 10 minutes.
