I am in the process of restarting the bitcointalk side of things, and looking into restarting the campaign signature campaign once again

B..but they said you were dead...

But seriously, good to see you back, and glad to hear there is a development plan to grow the site. Many people here seemed to think the project was abandoned.
Are you only planning to launch a signature campaign, or will you also be making any updates to the site?

Do you intend to stay active on bitcointalk, or will you get some customer service representative to keep this thread alive?
882  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 14, 2023, 05:23:47 PM
Stop eating outside, cooking your food is a better option than going outside.

Absolutely. Cooking yourself and eating unprocessed food is not only cheaper but, with the right quality ingredients, is much healthier too. Some link eating low-nutritious food with obesity - when you don't provide your body with what it needs, this results in craving more food despite eating large amount of calories. Makes sense to me.

And do not settle that you're just the sole provider to the family if there are some of you that can work just as you, you need to convince them that they also need to work and provide for everyone.

A man should be the provider, especially when a woman takes care of little children. Sending a woman to work and children to a daycare (which is often quite expensive) makes little sense from the economic point of view and will cause damage to family dynamics (see the decay of family values in the West). A man should focus on increasing his skills and income, and forcing his spouse to work should be the last resort (unless for childless couples or when children are old enough to take care of themselves).
883  Bitcoin / Press / [2023-10-13] DailyMail: Chinese Bitcoin mine in Wyoming sparks security fears... on: October 14, 2023, 05:09:58 PM
Microsoft raises security concerns over "Chinese" Bitcoin mining company. Although, later in the article it's explained that the enterprise has an "opaque web of ownership" and is only "linked" to at least one Chinese company. The only potential attack vector stated is the ability to cause a power disruption.
Legit concerns or a witch hunt? Judge yourself.

Chinese Bitcoin mine in Wyoming sparks security fears over proximity to nuclear missile base and Microsoft data center - as defense experts warn of threat to power grid from similar operations across the US

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12627791/Chinese-Bitcoin-Wyoming-Cheyenne-energy-security.html

Quote
A China-linked Bitcoin mine in Wyoming is drawing security concerns due to its close proximity to a Microsoft data center and an Air Force base that controls nuclear missiles.

In a confidential August 2022 report to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, Microsoft warned that the mine could allow the Chinese to 'pursue full-spectrum intelligence collection operations,' the New York Times reported on Friday.

The Bitcoin operation, which has an opaque web of ownership but is linked to at least one Chinese company, is directly across the street from a secure Microsoft data center that supports the Pentagon, and about a mile away from F.E. Warren Air Force Base, home to the 90th Missile Wing.

This is a head shaking decision from uncle Dana after he promised that the winner of Belal vs. Burns would challenge Leon Edward. However, I speculate that American politics might have influenced this decision. Uncle Dana is an outspoken Trump supporter and Colby also is another ourspoken Trump supporter. The presidential election will be on November heheehe. Perfect for the UFC's campaign for Trump if Colby is the welterweight champion hehehehe.

Did he really promise that? Say what you want about White, but I think he has a good record of sticking to his word.
I don't think similar political sympathies would play a major factor here. Covington is ranked higher than Belal and has way higher PPV potential so it definitely makes more sense, and I'm sure Edwards wouldn't mind that either, as it means a bigger payout.
Plus, they're fighting in Dec 2023 and the next US election is indeed in Nov, but 2024  Grin
885  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if there is no crypto bull run for next 10 years ? on: October 13, 2023, 08:52:06 PM
Worrying is necessary, but don't overdo it. I still remember how sad I was when I remembered my early days of knowing Bitcoin but I failed to own it in large quantities. Such an opportunity will never happen again, but one important lesson from it is to take advantage of the opportunity instead of ignoring it because of doubt.

I know that feeling very well, but taking emotions aside, beating yourself over not taking advantage of an opportunity is silly. First of all, it has already happened and you can't turn back time, so you can only use that as a lesson for the future. Second of all, it's impossible to know the future, it was very possible that Bitcoin could turn out to be a failure. Everyone is master in retrospective trading, looking at the past charts and saying 'I should've done this'/'I should've done that', but making decisions in the present time is a whole different story.
Also, if everyone was hoarding from the start, Bitcoin would've never taken off.
886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 13, 2023, 08:39:29 PM
This week is full of UFC shocking news. Now, from 2024, UFC and USADA are not going to cooperate anymore. Strange that not UFC made this announcement, but it came from USADA first, as they decided to stop cooperstion.  Dana said that is like backstabbing to do such thing. Now UFC got few months to find someone who will replace USADA, or I dont know, pause events, let fighters fight unchecked for some time.
Yup, there's a lot of drama going on around that. From what I understand, UFC claims that things went like this: 1) they told USADA that they will part ways; 2) USADA got pissed off and went on to publicly announce that UFC was pressuring them to bend the rules and bring back McGregor earlier and that's why they're ending cooperation.

To be honest, both versions are believable and I don't really care who's right or wrong here as it doesn't really matter. I'm just surprised to learn that UFC doesn't have to use USADA, as I thought it was some sort of official body that they had to use.
887  Economy / Economics / Re: Germany has become the world 3rd largest economy on: October 12, 2023, 10:59:18 PM
I'm happy for Germany reaching the top-3, it's truly amazing. I hope they'll be able to fully stop their trading with Russia, now that they're officially super rich

It's not about them becoming super-rich. I believe their GDP growth rate (in USD) is still below the inflation rate. If so, it's not about Germany doing super-great, but about other countries (namely Japan in this case) doing worse than them.
But, at the end of the day, from a geopolitical stance, it's not the actual GDP figures that matter, but rather how the country is performing in relation to others. So it's still a win.
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig "Faketoshi" Wright saga continues. His team turns against him. on: October 12, 2023, 10:41:12 PM
Merely an assumption I have made. We obviously don't have evidence when bribing happens, but it seems extremely likely to be the case here, IMO.

I mean, we have a Bitcoin developer who is known to having technical expertise with Bitcoin in general, publicly stating he thinks CSW could be Satoshi, because... He was invited in his place to get shown cryptographic evidence privately from altered software? Didn't it cross his mind to request digital signature over the Internet? What kind of desire to do this privately is that, if Craig doesn't mind Gavin publicly stating he was shown cryptographic evidence? Can the rest of us confirm? Wild conspiracy, but they might have exchanged more than "digital signatures".  Roll Eyes

BTW, needless to say he must have got mountains of evidence that CSW is not Satoshi, just like everyone else here. And as an icing in the cake, he still hasn't convinced us he really regret getting involved in all that shit, for if he did, it would be easy to just state the obvious; "I believe Craig is a scam".

To cut GA some slack, back then, Wright had a lot of positive press and was often pictured as a humble, modest genius which kind of fit in with many people's expectations of the real-life Satoshi. No one really knew what kind of psycho he would turn out to be.

And GA did admit that he regrets getting involved in it in the below statement, although he has never explicitly acknowledged that he has been duped nor called CW a fraud.

Feb 2023: I don’t believe in rewriting history, so I’m going to leave this post up. But in the seven years since I wrote it, a lot has happened, and I now know it was a mistake to trust Craig Wright as much as I did. I regret getting sucked into the “who is (or isn’t) Satoshi” game, and I refuse to play that game any more.

Anyhow, he did pay a big price and went from the single most influential person in the Bitcoin space to someone almost completely forgotten.
889  Economy / Speculation / Re: The time has finally come...??? on: October 12, 2023, 10:15:22 PM
Therefore, based on my study, I continue to believe that Bitcoin's ATH at this time might be between $80k and $100k; however, this may rely on the good news that comes out at the time the crypto market experiences its genuine bull run. Let's watch to see what transpires.

Did you apply any methodology and calculations or is it only a guess?
I've seen a YouTube expert (so take it for what it's worth) explaining that we should see a minimum of around $75k, but that's not including any effect of the spot ETFs approval.
Those ETFs could play a big role and make this cycle look very different than the previous one. But the effect doesn't necessarily be positive. If they get rejected (which is a possibility) there could be a pretty big sell-off.
890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 12, 2023, 09:53:09 PM
While I wanted more to watch Chimaev vs Costa due to their trashtalk drama, a fight against Usman is also a good challenge. I would say that Usman is more challenging than Costa. At least Usman is in p4p rating Cheesy Well, we gonna see if that highkick that Edwards landed in 2022 was a game changer for Camaru or not. Based on Chimaev fight against Burns, it seems that Chimaev gas tank isnt unlimited, in third round he breathed heavily. While Usman had 9 5round fights.

I really like this replacement. While Costa is fairly entertaining in his interviews and on social media, he didn't show anything special in his last few fights. Usman is definitely a bigger challenge for Chimaev.
As of now, the odds for Usman are around x3.25, which seems like a potentially good value bet. I'd expect it to be more even. Of course, the very short notice and the acclimatisation in a different time zone will not be in Usman's favour. But there will be more pressure on Chimaev, since he is very hyped-up and had a full camp.

Its said that Usman who will fight against Chimaev. And whoever wins will hve a title shot against Leon.

Leon is fighting Colby next and I don't think he'll keep that belt. So we're very likely to see Colby Vs. Chimaev for the next title bout, which would be perfect if you ask me.
891  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK - new FCA rules on advertising cryptoassets, effective today (8th Oct 2023) on: October 12, 2023, 09:35:06 PM
Doesn't that mean airdrop? New joining bonuses work exactly on the same principle, as new members receive profits for joining early.
Keeping the ads open is a good step.

Probably depends on the kind of airdrop. i.e. if it's organised by a business, the tokens that are being given away are already traded and the purpose is to attract new customers - then I'd imagine it'd fall under new rules. But if the airdrop is for new tokens that are not yet traded, so they're market value at the moment of an airdrop is zero, and a team of developers organises it, then it's probably outside of those regulations. That's just my interpretation though.

If you are interested in what is happening in the UK, then lawyers advised me to read these comments
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2023/29/pdfs/ukpgaen_20230029_en.pdf
Crypto exchanges need to obtain licenses both to operate and to advertise their services.
And therefore, any information in English for UK citizens may be regarded as operating without a license in the UK and subject to fines.
Exchanges will flee the UK.

Thanks, that's a pretty chunky document though, with nearly 300 pages. But from the emails I got from various exchanges regarding the new regulations, it doesn't seem like the new restrictions are that severe.
And there might be a way to bypass some of them, e.g. Binance partnered up with an FCA-registered entity and will be delegating all restricted activities to them.

892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is my plan. on: October 11, 2023, 10:54:41 AM
Here's the thing op. So many people keep saying that now is the best time to buy BTC since it's price is low and it will increase and reach its new ATH later, but that's all wishful thinking since BTC can even drop like crazy.

That's true, but your advice has no value. Absolutely any type of investments could drop in value (including fiat money) and nothing is ever guaranteed. But you have to invest/store your wealth somehow, so there's no escaping the risk. If you think that buying BTC now is not a good move and/or there are other, better assets to invests - then explain your reasoning. Only saying that "it could drop" is just stating the obvious and is not very helpful.
893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 11, 2023, 10:30:59 AM
Last time Oliveira fought Makhachev, he has told that he would fly to UAE 20 days before the fight to pass acclimatization issues, but in 12 days before the fight. Now there were only 10 days lays, he was still in Brazil and sparred without the gear. Imho he could only blame himself or his team for missing that opportunity and no wonder Dana is annoyed.

Yeah, I know, I've seen youtube commentators criticising Oliveira for not getting there earlier and questioning whether he really takes this fight seriously. That injury is 100% on him, although I wouldn't judge him without knowing the details, accidents happen and it's possible to catch an accidental knee, elbow or headbutt even during a soft, touch sparring.
I wonder what's next for him and if he'll get another title shot next, or will they make him fight someone ranked below him. I think Gaethje deserves the next one and Oliveira should fight someone else within the next 2-3 months.

It is said (rumours) that Costa also withdrew himself from UFC 294 due to that elbow surgery. If this is true, then this is the 5th time Costa is breaking up the fight in 2 years and setting UFC up. Should UFC give him a kind of penalty for that ?
Yes, I think at this point, it is pretty certain that he is not going to fight in the UFC 294 against Khamzat. This was a very interesting fight for the fans. This has also become really disappointing and frustrating for the fans and also for UFC.

About having penalties, I really don't know. Because it has happened because of a health issue. if this was because he wasn't able to make weight or something, I would have said that he definitely deserves a penalty. But now I am not sure, to be honest. But pulling out five times from a fight in two years is definitely something that shouldn't be tolerated as well.

On Mon Costa said in an interview he'll be ready to fight and that his doctors confirmed he should be fine by then:
https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/10/10/23912342/ufc-294-paulo-costa-vs-khamzat-chimaev-fight-in-jeopardy-dana-white-reveals
But it could be just an act so it doesn't look like he pulls out. It's essentially down to UFC doctors to make the call.
894  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UK - new FCA rules on advertising cryptoassets, effective today (8th Oct 2023) on: October 11, 2023, 10:20:02 AM
I don’t see much effectiveness in such regulation rules, because in social networks or telegram groups these rules are very easy to bypass or these rules do not work. Unfortunately, this does not stop scammers, but it does prevent good projects from developing, because they need a whole team of lawyers.

I agree. I don't quite understand what was the motivation behind it. It kind of looks like one of those things that regulators do just to show they're doing "something" and to justify their existence.
What really annoys me is that they banned "refer a friend" type of programmes, whereas similar ones are allowed for gambling websites or CFD platforms, where vast majority of players/traders lose money. So doesn't look like there's much logic behind it.

Słabo to wygląda. Praktycznie pisanie dla siebie w oczekiwaniu, że może ktoś się przyłączy. Ciekawe, czy ewentualna hossa przyniesie lepsze czasy, bo jak tak dalej pójdzie, to sekcja całkowicie umrze.

Rzeczywiscie slabiutko to wyglada. Przyznam ze nieco zapomnialem o polskim sub-forum. Z reguly udzielam sie glownie w watkach ktore pokazuja sie na moim watchlist a chyba niewiele z polskich watkow pojawialo sie tam w ostatnim miesiacu. Postaram sie czesciej monitorowac polska sekcje i czytac nowe watki.

896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 11, 2023, 09:48:44 AM
FFS!

Recent news, Oliveira is out from ufc 294 due to an eye injury. And guess who has replaced Oliveira Grin Their fight that got a controversal result in the past. I am speaking about battle dwarf - Alex Volkanovski. Wow! What a surprise. UFC hit perfect with such replacement. To bad, it might be a really short notice for Volkan.

Yeah, I've just seen a video of Dana White confirming this, he appeared to be slightly annoyed that Oliveira's team didn't contacted him straight away, he said he would've had arranged a proper plastic surgeon to get tat sorted out instead of just stitching it up.

Volk would have a massive mental advantage for sure, there's no shame in losing if he accepts the fight on such short notice. All pressure will be on Islam, his last win wasn't convincing, so he's got something to prove, he had more time to prepare (for different type of opponent, but still), and his fighting in front of "his" crowd.
The key question is in what shape is Volk right now. I understand that he's one of those types that would train hard even outside of fight camp. If so, he should be alright. He'd also need to Aby Dhabi as soon asap to get enough time to adapt.

That's a great replacement though, I think I like this fight better.
897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is my plan. on: October 10, 2023, 09:42:04 AM
I am still here to gather little knowledge about Bitcoin, I don't need enough knowledge, I can invest while learning Bitcoin, but the thing there is I am shuffling my self, so I will not be tangled while I am accumulating Bitcoin, I have come up with a plan of using the DCA method to accumulate a $50 monthly, my monthly payment from my job is $300, if my expenses will collect up $100 then $50 can be kept in crypto (Bitcoin) and another $100 for emergency funds then the remaining $50 can also be kept for personal things. Now is the best time to buy Bitcoin, I am not in a hurry to start investing Bitcoin, when the time comes for me to invest nothing will stop me to invest in BTC, as Bitcoin is not something I will start today and get rich tomorrow that is why I don't want to rush in to it.

You should probably start with figuring out what (hopefully realistic) goal are you trying to achieve by investing in Bitcoin and then choose the right strategy that is more likely to get you there.
If you want to hold for 10+ years no matter what, then the DCA is probably a good way to go. But if you're aiming in maxing up the profit on the next bull-run (expected around/after the next halving) then buying more as soon as possible (before the price starts going up) makes more sense than doing the classic DCA.
You yourself said that "Now is the best time to buy", and DCA is used when you don't know if it is or isn't a good time to buy. Of course if you can't afford to pocket out any larger amount up front, then there's not much choice but to buy regularly after a pay day.

Anyhow, best of luck and remember that BTC/crypto are really high risk investments, so sit yourself down and have a serious thought of how much are you willing to risk. Don't be a gambler.
898  Economy / Speculation / Re: The time has finally come...??? on: October 10, 2023, 09:21:57 AM
I think it is still too hard to profit from bitcoin because its not even very volatile (This month October is bit better tho). I feel like we are still too far away from "time" that bitcoin will start its huge bull run to minimum 80k levels. That is level I am guessing we will %100 hit. But I am also thinking we may peak around 100k as well but it would be surprise. Anyways short term wise traders were making in later months. I honestly lost some money even trying to get better position as bitcoin was dumped further than I expected.

Depends on what kind of profit you are looking for. If you just want to make any profit (in reasonable time), than Bitcoin is still a good bet. Looking at the past cycles, it's not like the price was completely flat and than shot up all of a sudden. There were build-up periods when price was on a modest uptrend before shooting up. So if we are to repeat the cycle, we can expect BTC's price to slowly move up (which is kind of already happening).

I agree that $75k-$80k is a reasonable expectation for a minimum peak price, but as for the $100k, we'll either stop before that (if the psychological impact of a nice, round number turns out to be strong) or we'll cross that level with ease up to $120k level or above.
899  Economy / Economics / Re: Marriage mean double your passive income, rental property mean double your passi on: October 10, 2023, 08:47:46 AM
Isn't real love, which evolves and solidifies, like financial stability and prosperity? It goes through life's ups and downs, victories and hardships, abundance and scarcity. Thus, when a partnership based on mature love and shared values has financial obstacles, it should strengthen the resolve to overcome them

Exactly. The part of the problem lies with linguistics, we slap the same term ("love") on two different feelings that are distant to each other (short-lived lust Vs. long-term bond).

I have seen many people who have married people who are richer than them and they are living their lives in luxury because of these rich people. So there is no harm in having relationships with rich people to make yourself financially stable. For those who adapt themselves to all kinds of situations, there is no problem in marrying such people. So in my opinion, if there is an opportunity, it should be taken.

Meaning you would be happy to position yourself as a "gold digger" and marry someone just for their wealth and to live in luxury? If so, that's sad. Putting consumption as the top value of your life will backfire badly most of the time.
900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: October 10, 2023, 08:26:47 AM
Is it already announced who he will make next millionaire or make current even more rich? There are possible options - first, like said before, it is gonna be either Chandler, or another fight against Poirier (sort of a unfinished business). Second - he needs someone who he will definitely beat and make a loud return to UFC. In other words, he needs a win, someone who he will knockout.

It's got to be Chandler. As a rule, the TUF coaches are matched up against each other. Chandler must've gotten some promise from the UFC that he'll get that fight as he's not pursuing any other fights but just patiently waiting for McGregor. And Chandler's fighting style suits McGregor, he's more likely to win against Chandler than anyone else from the top of lightweight.

Now that Justin Gaethje has knockout Dustin Poirier I think Gaethjhe has already exposed Poirier (...)

I think you're writing Poirier off a little bit too soon. There are some fighters that haven't been the same after a knockout, but Poirier has been KO'ed in a past (by Johnson or McGregor) but managed to bounce back nicely. There's no reason to think it'll be much different after KO from Gaethje (who also got KO'ed and that didn't stop his way to the top).
