@ALL, can we just stopped about Lightlords abscence and making this thread to be inactive and only be just used on posting up some issues or complaints about the
site specially into those real users of the platform? There's no point on making further discussions on something that connects about assumptions which we dont
know if its true or not.

Why though? I agree that repeating the same (unconfirmed) assumptions over and over again is not very helpful and frankly pretty stupid, but why would you advocate for this thread to be inactive? If there's anything related to BitVest that anyone would like to share, that's fine. That's what threads and forums are for. It's not like we have to choose between the total shitposting and inactivity - there's a lot of room in between.

The thing is that Lightlord could have made it easier to have lucked this thread before his long exit from this forum (...)

Why would he lock the thread if he has potential of driving in new users. Even if the general tone is negative - any publicity is a good publicity. That's still better than being unknown.

It never fails to amuse me how people are spamming just to say that others are spamming. You don't want a thread to be bumped? Just don't post here and/or unwatch it. It's that simple. There's no need to announce it.
1362  Economy / Speculation / Leak Reveals Secret Democratic Plan For A Game-Changing U.S. Crypto Crackdown on: May 15, 2023, 05:26:38 PM
Finally some great news from the US. The democrats are working hard to protect us all from risky crypto investments. They'll happily create a crypto market crash and make investors lose money in order to prevent them from losing money. Good to know there are politicians out there working tirelessly to protect the little people from themselves.

Quote
Now, a leaked memo circulated to Democratic House financial services committee members has revealed the "key messages" lawmakers were told to stick to that could see almost all cryptocurrencies categorized as securities.
...
The document, passed to committee members by the Democratic party ahead of Wednesday’s joint House hearing on crypto policy, was leaked by Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett on Twitter. "The problem isn’t ambiguity—it’s mass non-compliance with existing laws," the memo reads. "We can't invent new accommodating regulatory structures simply because crypto companies refuse to follow clear rules of the road."

The memo calls on Democratic lawmakers to push back on Republican claims "they are working to provide clarity to the markets by carving out space for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in crypto" ... "Republicans are proving that they really aren't serious about protecting investors and consumers."

So in summary, just a further confirmation of the US gov's crackdown on crypto.

Any thought on how would that unfold?
1363  Economy / Speculation / Re: When to buy one time off bitcoin. on: May 15, 2023, 05:07:00 PM
It is nearly impossible to find perfect time to buy enough Bitcoin. Its chronic issue with investing in financial markets. You will never hit perfect time. So you shoud rather focus on accumulating at terrible market conditions.

This is a cliché, but it's probably the only good advise one can give. People are posting questions about good time to buy or sell hoping for some collective wisdom, but financial markets are not ruled by democracy and majority often gets it wrong.

Remember when bitcoin was around 19-20k like a month ago or something. It was so cheap it was guarenteed to make profit there.

But back then no one knew when the price was going to go and the market mood was not very high. Saying "you should've bought then" while looking at the past charts is easy, predicting the future is a whole different game.

When an important figure on this forum stops posting on this forum, without any word or explanation, or even a message to customers as a business owner who started off on this forum,  it is indifferent to say that such a person disappeared, he clearly disappeared, and I do not agree that it could be LL replying to customer's enquiry, if he is the one, what stops him from atleast, saying a word on this thread?.

Sure, if he/they made a conscious decision that they will no longer be active on this forum (for whatever reason) - it would be nice to let people know. But the way it usually works is people are moving away to other things naturally. There are plenty of prominent members that are no longer active but are still alive. I myself had a few years break from this forum but never intended to, it just happened.
And if you consider that LL stopped being active not too long after the (fully deserved) scam accusation drama - then it's no surprise that he might no longer find this place enjoyable.

And if the hot wallets get refilled when needed (even if sometimes with delay), that means that there is someone out there with access to funds, so it's not like the site is abandoned and operates o auto-pilot.

your further comment is also a testament and very possible, which is why I said bitvest is like a timed bomb waiting to explode.

Don't you think that declaring someone very possibly dead, just by virtue of them not posting on some forum is a bit out of line?

The administration of the site could also come in and play that game. I collected those satoshis for 6 months, and why did I play in dice, what senseless reasons, God.

Did you mean "why would I play the dice?"? I don't know, for profit, to earn more reward points, lottery tickets, golden tickets? Why would admins risk the site's reputation to defraud you of 0.001btc? Does it make sense to you? There are plenty of people with way higher balances and it seems that you're the only one experiencing such problem, so don't be surprised if your story is not very believable. Especially when you jump straight into accusations.

/snip/ and suddenly, the owner disappears with no statement of any kind, or putting another in charge to continue to maintain the thread, I feel that such casino could be a timed bomb waiting to explode.

Why would you assume he disappeared? Just because he's not active on bitcointalk? The customer service is responding, and I don't imagine a small site would hire any staff to answer customer service queries, so it's likely LL is responding himself.

Admins being active here do not make your funds any safer. Unless you're concerned that LL might be dead and the access to the cold wallet is lost forever - but that's a pretty wild conclusion based only on a fact that he's not posting here anymore.

this is totally uncalled for to plagiarize on someone's else work or article for yourself, you could have learn about how to quote and insert the right link

What are you talking about? He didn't plagiarise anything, he just used AI to generate that post. What exactly do you expect him to quote or link here? A link to chat GPT (or whatever tool that he used)?
1368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is going down. on: May 13, 2023, 10:25:24 AM
It's also not entirely true to say that every time is the right time to buy bitcoin. You cannot advise someone to buy bitcoin when it hit $69k last year or someone to buy when bitcoin is $100k in the future. You won't lose even if you buy at that price as long as you don't sell it, but it's a bad investment method because it will take you a long time to break even while someone else will make a big profit at the same time. Buying bitcoins requires the right time, and finding that moment depends on each person's skill.

The highlighted (by me) part is a myth. It's true maybe for the purpose of your tax returns but otherwise is simply wrong. Whether you make a profit or loss should be considered in terms of value (i.e. expressed in fiat currency) and not only by the actual fiat currency that you have.
If you hold $100k worth of bitcoins and the next day it's worth only $50k, that means you got poorer and lost 50% of the value. Whether you sell or not is irrelevant. The value of the assets you hold is now lesser than it was, and pretending this is somehow not a loss is just a cope.
1369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is buying BTC now, the best option ??? on: May 13, 2023, 10:09:06 AM
However, if we refer to the 4 year cycle, it seems that now is the best time to buy bitcoin and hold on until the bullish phase comes. As we know that when the next bitcoin halving occurs, BTC has the potential to print new ATH.

The big question is if Bitcoin's price movement remains cyclical, which is not obvious at all. With each halving having twice as less effect on the block reward and with much different wider market reality (higher interest rates etc) we could see completely different price action. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see the new ATH in the next cycle or if the cycles get flattened and extended. Things simply cannot be too easy, otherwise everyone would get rich from trading and there would be no one to do actual work.

check again please. Now i write it manually and edit it.
thanks for your advice....

You don't even understand the point. The problem is not that your post fails the AI test, but that it is AI generated and has little to no value. Tweaking the wording just so it passes the AI test changes nothing.

What's the point of posting basic information about Bitcoin on the Bitcoin forum? Where's the value in it? Isn't there any legit and constructive way you could contribute to the forum? Aren't there any areas that you would like to learn about, or don't you have any own opinions you could express etc?
1371  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto traders beaten by girls on: May 13, 2023, 09:19:30 AM
Surveys certainly cannot be used as a benchmark for truth, if the survey was conducted in another country the results would be different, in general

A well-designed survey can be a good way of studying reality, and I don't think we have any better method than that (unless you have access to the actual raw and complete data of the studied subject). The problem usually is with the interpretations and conclusions of the surveys, where there's a big risk of misinterpretation.

in general I believe men can beat women when trading, this is because men have better analytical skills than women.

Sure, but having better analytical skills doesn't guarantee profit. You can spend ages analysing market information and past trends and still be wrong and make a loss. Whereas someone who doesn't even try to analyse anything at all, but just buys and holds, could make a profit.

Now that wallets are starting to get emptied then people who do play on that specific coin should really be stopping on playing on such coin specially if  the balance is depleting.
THere's no point on making out some complaints if their support system doesnt really even that giving some response.

What are you basing this on? It's not like we see any massive wave of complaints in this thread. It's literally one guy venting about one hot wallet for one altcoin (Litecoin) and all of a sudden we have a bunch of posters pilling in with the "sky is falling" narrative.
What made you think that more than one hot wallets are empty and that their customer service is non-responsive?

Judging by the history of messages, this is a girl from Nigeria who really wants to become a full member, but I could not find a single meaningful message that somehow correlates with bitcoin to give her a couple of merits. Maybe I didn't try hard enough and her determination should be rewarded.

Are you sure that's a girl though? I bet you would not make such effort if that member's name was SexyMike2813  Grin

rule number 1 - there are no women on crypto forums. Everyone's a man until proven otherwise.

1375  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Being Russia and Russian now on: May 12, 2023, 09:08:14 PM
Mendeleev knew mathematics very well and was able to make complex statistical calculations.  He predicted that by the beginning of the 21st century, about 600 million people would live in Russia.

His calculations were absolutely correct, but he did not take into account that in the 20th century Russia would actively participate in the war with Japan, World War I, Civil War, World War II, the Afghan war, etc.

How was he "absolutely correct" though? Sounds more like he was horribly wrong, for whatever reason that was. And it's not the war that's primarily responsible for shrinking populations. It's the cultural shift coupled with birth control.
I think most of the past statistical predictions turned out to be totally missed, e.g. the alarmist "The Population Bomb" (1968).

This is a simple truth - war ruins the future of the country.
But for some reason this simple truth is difficult to comprehend.

That's a massive oversimplification. Has the involvement of US in the WW2 ruined their future, or quite the contrary, put them in the position of the world leader?
Any country that is not willing/prepared to fight when necessary is doomed to fail.

In terms of empty hot wallets for Litecoin, if this chart from https://dicesites.com/bitvest/ltc is correct (and it's possible it isn't as some other stats look odd) it looks like there was some significant divestment (or maybe someone has just won big and drained the fund) that could result in hot wallet getting empty.

Still, that's not much of an excuse for admins to keep it empty for too long. But then again, we don't know if the guy complaining actually filed a support ticket and if the issue is resolved now.
1377  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Gary, tell us what is Ethereum? on: May 12, 2023, 08:21:49 PM
I don't think anything will happen on March 13th.
Unlike competitors who are closing business in the US, the Coinbase exchange is doing great. It is a fact.
If the Coinbase exchange is sued, then this is a different situation, but for now, the SEC has rid Coinbase of competitors in the USA

/tinfoil hat on/ Could it be that it's all just a show to kill off competition and make sure that no foreign entity (especially Binance) gets any significant share of the crypto market?

Coinbase is also active in expanding its overseas operations, the question is whether they do that just to grow, or as a hedge against a potential heavy crypto crackdown in the US.

And I wouldn't say they're doing that great. In the first quarter of 2023, they recorded an operating loss of Ł124m and a net loss of $79m. Unless we look at their (non-statutory) adjusted EBITDA, which is looking pretty good: +$284m Vs. +$20m (first quarter of 2022).

Bitcoin traded at its lowest level since mid-March on Friday as volatility, driven by low liquidity, continued to hit cryptocurrency markets.

Bitcoin was last trading lower by 2% at $26,354.33, according to Coin Metrics. Earlier in the day it fell as low as $26,138.19, its lowest level since Mar. 17. The biggest crypto asset by market cap was on pace to post a weekly loss of 10.6%, which would make it its worst week since Nov. 11.

There are a number of issues facing crypto markets right now including low liquidity, a crackdown on the industry from regulators in the U.S. and macroeconomic worries.

Liquidity issues
Bitcoin is up around 59% this year but prices have remained volatile, with low liquidity exacerbating moves higher and lower.

Clara Medalie, director of research at Kaiko, said there has been a “notable drop in market depth” for bitcoin.
