901  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When the fun stops on: September 19, 2023, 08:33:19 PM
People get their kicks from anything. Some love golfing, some love racecar driving, and some find catharsis and relief from collecting mugs. These are all excessive lifestyles and hobby choices and yet we don't condemn them for having these types of lifestyles despite the fact that arguably, they're more expensive. We hate on gambling cause we directly spend the money that we're burning with the prospect of fun and at the very least, earning something back (although I don't support gambling for profit).

People are quick to judge against gambling and I know there's no inherent benefit to gambling anyway but if we're going to condemn it just cause people are losing their minds and money over it, might as well start condemning every other hobby there is as well.
902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paxos recovers its $500,000 'fat finger' Bitcoin transaction fee on: September 18, 2023, 05:56:37 PM
And there we have it. A lighthearted and kind conclusion to this shitshow of a story.

I didn't have doubts about F2Pool returning the money to the user, they are already established as it is, and they probably earn this much amount (and more!) just from the sheer amount of miners in their platform, this is but a dime to them so to speak. Not gonna lie though, as some of the people in this forum when news about this thing broke out I thought that this was a form of money-laundering scheme too, to make that 500 grand a little cleaner by expecting reimbursement but that's a little stupid and baseless looking back. Anywho, everyone got their happy endings, f2pool will surely receive more people coming in and trusting them moving forward just from this success story alone, and I hope this user's going to be a little bit more careful next time.
903  Economy / Economics / Re: What Actually Drives People/Gov to Adopt New and Bold Decisions on: September 18, 2023, 05:49:45 PM
Desperation for people and government mostly.

For the most part, people will remain with what's comfortable for them. For a while people are happy with the MBS (mortgage-backed securities), when things went to shitter everyone panicked and agreed that something like MBS shouldn't be done anymore not for any reason. People agreed to not have anymore world wars after the second war obliterated Japan's cities. It's through these desperate measures that we see the most change in legislations and how the government attacks things.

With crypto it couldn't be any more similar. For a while they are letting it run free, some countries even supporting it, but when things go south and government finds out how it undermines the profit streams of the richest, they are trying to circumvent the process and ban it. yet another sign of desperate times calling for desperate measures.
I agree. Desperation to survive and be backed up by a stronger and more powerful country. In my country we are always trying to be updated and follow what is trending in the West for reasons that be believe that they are the ones that can help us lead the country to a better status. Moreover, there is still the underlying effect of the colonialism that happened years ago, hence the influence of those powerful countries that took control of the country I live is still present in various aspects, especially in political matters. Hence, it doesn't take much for our government to adapt changes and practices provided by these countries.
Especially if you're a developing country, you can't really blame your country for relying upon these outside forces for protection and help. For one it's so tough to make it out of the poverty hole for a country, since you can't expect every politician with the power to change the country to be inherently honest and good enough to put the people's welfare above others. It's just one of those things really. Another would be the fact that most countries (I'm not sure where you particularly live but this goes for every country who asks for aid in the west) are either marginalized by private companies abusing their manpower or their resources for personal benefit, or they are just flat-out resource-dry.
904  Economy / Economics / Re: Food Crisis - Improved, Worsen or still the same in your country (No Change)? on: September 18, 2023, 05:41:06 PM
Climate change is currently having an adverse effect on agriculture. Farmers' crops are destroyed every year due to excessive rains, droughts or untimely floods, which is the main reason for global food crisis. Different countries are working on climate change. Due to the fact that the world is dependent on technology, many people are now changing their agricultural profession and taking some other profession. Also, due to the lack of adequate facilities for farmers, many people are leaving their agricultural profession and joining some other profession.
In order to avoid food crisis, the government of every country should ensure maximum facilities to the farmers as well as limit the price of various essential items used in agriculture such as fertilizers or seeds so that the farmers can easily cultivate, if the farmers can easily cultivate and if they are encouraged to cultivate. Then hopefully the global food crisis will disappear.
People downplay just how much of this is due to climate change. They forget that the crops we cultivate for food, as well as other biological processes we needed to survive directly depend on the weather and the climate. If this delicate balance is destroyed millions are sure to die. Smear campaigns, downplaying from politicians when they should've been the ones who are to help spread the word and awareness about what climate change really is, and a whole lot more factors contributed to the general public not giving a singular fuck about the state of the world we're living in now. I hope somehow things change but that's wishful thinking and at this point if you're not filthy rich or exclusively famous no one's really going to hear you out. I mean just look at how they are dogging Greta Thunberg when all she does is just put the state of the climate to the forefront and put the people to blame for this into the spotlight.
905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this still count? on: September 18, 2023, 05:32:52 PM
Of course one of the most important things to understand as a newbie in the crypto space is how to secure your digital assets. Therefore I decided to give air gapping a try In other to understand air gapping I tried air gapping an old windows PC today  since I didn't know a lot of technical stuff about the internal components of the computer I decided to uninstall all network drivers on the computer I tried doing this from my windows control panel.
Will this still count as an air gapped device or do I still have to remove the hard ware  networking components from the PC board?
And will it be possible for an hacker to install those drivers remotely?
If you're using an old PC with a pre-installed OS, and then just removed the network drivers, it wouldn't count as air gapping as many others have already told you. You would need to wipe the whole computer off, reinstall a new OS, and from there delete the network drivers to completely air-gap it.While I personally believe in the benefits of air-gapping, I don't think it's that much needed especially if you're careful enough with what you're doing. A bit of an overkill too cause that's a whole pc setup that you're not using for anything besides saving your cryptocurrencies which isn't really something that is cost-effective especially for newbies who are trying bitcoin out for the first time.
906  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: September 18, 2023, 05:25:13 PM
I say it's recovering from its prior losses, no thanks to spacex's sale of their bitcoin holdings for some reason. Add to that the fact that the price of bitcoin is slowly recovering from the anticipation of the people to the upcoming halving for next year as we are coming ever closer to 2024, and you get this slow price increase that we're having right now. It's not enough to push the people's hearts into actually investing, but the movements are more than enough to recover the lost confidence from prior months when the bear market came through.
907  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 17, 2023, 11:21:37 PM
Well the first thing that's going to happen after a major economic collapse is people trying to cut their losses, it's either people are going to cash their bitcoins out cause they got nothing left already and they need to use the money to sustain themselves, or people who were able to make out something from the rubble's going to reinvest their money to bitcoin, which is honestly the most probable thing out there especially since more people are becoming aware of what bitcoin is. And when that happens it's going to be even harder to take out money from your investment cause you would want to make sure you earn as much as possible yeah? It's all a struggle out here even if you're winning so it seems.
908  Economy / Economics / Re: Tim Gurner wants Unemployment to increase. Employers have lost their power. on: September 17, 2023, 11:04:38 PM
Well, this is Tim Gurner's opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs even if it's so dumb, selfish and foolish like this guy just spat out now. I wish the reverse is the case where he's the employee, maybe he will wish for such again.

Nothing has a monopoly forever, and the market will always drag itself between more jobs and fewer jobs in a sane economy. Everyone is free to jump from one to the other during surplus and even upgrade their terms as either employee or employer dominates in the workforce.
That's just stupid. Imagine if you said this shit when news broke out from 2014-15 about the Nestle CEO saying "water shouldn't be free and everyone should not have inclusive access to potable water", you'd probably feel stupid about it. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion sure, but if it's wrong you better face the consequences especially if you're too proud about it too like this mf Tim Gurney. The market will steer towards whatever will profit the richest the most, it's not about the welfare of the common people anymore. We're just glad that for once at least the common folk and the rest of the planet's richest are in agreement with how beneficial WFH is. Soon as the narrative changes just see how disgusting things could be again.
909  Economy / Economics / Re: Business failure among small-scale entrepreneurs on: September 17, 2023, 10:39:51 PM
when business is still small anything needs to be efficient, one mistake and business will fail thats the thing with building business from scratch from the very bottom.
its unlike what majority of people said that building business only needs courage, its not just that, luck also have big role in having big business, like if you start a business thats very niche and few years later that niche becoming a big thing then your business will definitely grow really fast.
also, when the big companies starting to get into that field, you'd also need to face them in which they have advantage of having bigger capital for better marketing and promotions. that period would also be as difficult as the other.
Well, having a safety net is something that only large-scale businesses have the liberty of using. it's a basic truth in life so to speak. You'd never find small-scale businesses out there not duking it out as if it's the end of the world cause they need to make profits or else they would go bankrupt. I feel like that's also one thing that contributes to why these micro-businesses are more prone to failing. They don't have the luxury to afford contingencies and safety nets that would've prevented them from losing it all should their businesses sink under, so when they fail, they fail horribly. It's also worth noting that for most first time business owners, their first losses are the biggest and hardest to bear, with some even stepping out of entrepreneurship for good cause it's just that traumatizing to lose your money.
910  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: September 17, 2023, 10:00:21 PM
4. Make the 24 hour rule
This rule helped me when I was building in this way. Because when I want to buy something, I put it off for 24 hours, and during this time I learn how to assess these things. Usually the excitement we experience disappears immediately after a few hours. You imagine the sacrifices you will make when you accomplish them. Like the small savings you have or sometimes we will even borrow the money we will use here. At least in this way we can avoid impulsive buying or bursts of emotion.

Here, many traders lose, especially beginners. However, high levels of excitement arise if as soon as someone enters the market, the price set bid immediately goes UP, which is the most fun, but if BTC continues to correct, yes. The science of patience must be used a lot and the world of digital currency is the place where it is easiest to assess a person's mental and emotional level in trading because psychology here really works.
I mean if it's something that would yield you money anyway, even if it's just the prospect of earning money (except for gambling) I don't think the 24 hour rule even applies to this. Especially if it's time-sensitive like trading and investing.

I say that this 24 hour rule is only applicable to stuff that don't really yield you anything down the line, like the newest iPhone, the latest Playstation, or whatever you're planning to buy that wouldn't realistically yield you profits in the process. You have to think it through and decide whether you really want to buy it. if your mind remains unchanged even after a week (I use the 1-week rule) then go for it and buy it cause at least by then you could be sure that it's going to give you satisfaction/happiness.
911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: How Tokenization Can Revolutionize the Global Economy 💸 on: September 16, 2023, 11:28:44 PM
It's not tokenization that would bring revolution to the global economy. It's the reinvestment of attention to more pressing issues in the industry. You think just minting everything in the blockchain's going to solve world hunger and all that stuff? No! What needs to happen is a systematic change where profit is not made the pinnacle of success but self-actualization. It's much more important for people to reach their dreams anyway than wallow in tons of money without ever reaching their potential, plus it redirects the richest's attention away from their money, and over more important affairs in their lives.

We can't just introduce something "revolutionary" and expect that things will change for the better. Sometimes a little reality check won't hurt.
912  Economy / Economics / Re: Human Capital, An Intangible Asset for a Company's success. on: September 16, 2023, 10:35:20 PM
While it is inspiring, There's a darker side to this growing awareness of what Human Capital is. For instance, we're mostly aware of what AI is and how it threatens to take the jobs of regular people away. From grunt work to managerial positions in corporate. We're at the cusp of a paradigm shift which could go well or worse and at this moment, thanks to corporate greed and the lack of care and value for human life by many business owners and corporate personnel, AI is winning, off of the hard works and decades of dedication, talent, and experiences that human workers invested into by the way.

There's also the age-old debate of wage increase which many businesses withhold against their employees regardless of how valuable they are to the company, so yeah. It's one thing to be aware of what Human Capital is, it's another to acknowledge it and give people proper credit and care.
913  Economy / Economics / Re: To afford personal education or a property? Where to allocate funds? on: September 15, 2023, 10:46:54 PM
I wouldn't say money is more important than a proper degree and a valuable education, but given the circumstances I would've chosen getting the opportunity to earn money first since that sets me up for success and when done right, might even insure me for my whole life. With that in mind that leaves education to the table, ready for picking whenever I choose to. Sometimes taking the more practical path is the best one and I know that people will say you could easily take education first and then get yourself a good job after, but I just can't pass up a great opportunity like this one.

So even though I consider myself an intellectual and a lifelong learner, I'd pick money over education for the meantime. Better to have money and no degree than have a degree while you're struggling to make ends meet.
914  Economy / Economics / Re: I tired of Banks my experince with nyc high value Property on: September 15, 2023, 10:25:11 PM
buying properties in New york is one of the worst things you could do to yourself.

People are already catching up to the news. New York's not the concrete jungle it was made out to be. No innovation, the whole city's sinking every year, stupendous prices for rent which no one in their right minds will pay except out of desperation, rats everywhere, and the general fact that NYC isn't the most hospitable or habitable city on the planet. I say if you're really into real estate invest in those that are at the country side, never in crime-dense areas. Do yourself a favor and pull out of that investment (I know it's your own money and I have no rights to ever influence you but NYC is a massive honey trap you shouldn't be falling for). Otherwise you're practically commiting to losing everything over time.
915  Economy / Economics / Re: Was just watching the big short. Why do the times suddenly feel similar? on: September 15, 2023, 09:21:21 PM
Because it is.

As of this moment many would think the reason for the collapse could once again be attributed to the housing bubble and the inflation it caused, but in my opinion the reason why the big short will happen is because of the overprinting of money in many countries after the economic collapse brought about by COVID-19. They wanted to jumpstart the economy so they printed more money than they know what to work with which eventually backfired when the whole economy picked its pace up.

Also heard the news that the very guy the movie "the big short" was based off of is already shorting the market once again. Talk about bad news for us, this guy's never been wrong remember.
916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of country can offer you legal gambling in 2023! on: September 14, 2023, 10:49:11 PM
Gambling shouldn't be a massive legal conundrum. It's well established that it's not helpful to society, and could be detrimental at times especially when done and held with the idea of exploiting vulnerable people in mind, which is why I understand why some countries ban gambling outright. And while it's a little radical to think that gambling is basically just glorified drug addiction to many people there's really no other way of thinking about it. And this comes from someone who's really invested in gambling.

I still believe that gambling could be regulated and legalized, but at the same time I don't bother myself with the trivialities of gambling being illegalized in some countries and all that. They have their reasons for disallowing people to gamble.
917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ask about prediction on: September 14, 2023, 10:14:53 PM
I've seen a couple of threads about football bets and all that, and while they don't get as much traction as one would expect, they aren't banned per se.

So if you're looking to actually setup your own thread to share gambling insights and betting predictions, you could do that, just make sure you're setting everyone's expectations and are not clickbaiting people, that's going to get your thread deleted and may even cause banning. Although don't expect people from really relying on you for gambling predictions since most of the established gamblers here has got their own groove and are not keen on relying from other people for these types of stuff. I say that's a good thing cause it stops you from putting the blame on other people.
918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: September 13, 2023, 11:26:30 PM
For what purpose is Tyson getting back into pro boxing? Is he out of money for bird feed?
I don't think they have to have any valid purpose just to return in the limelight, just like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, are they also out of money? Grin

Mike Tyson was just called by Fedor Emelianenko and it doesn't even state or guarantee that they will indeed have a fight because this is not new anyway, there has been talks previously that Mike Tyson will fight Evander Holyfield but that didn't materialize. But if this bout will come into fruition, the organizers are definitely in for a lot of money because the last time Mike Tyson stepped foot in the ring way back 2020, that bout generated 1 million plus PPVs.

What more if we add Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou in the equation. It's just a business mate and if you don't want to watch, you're pretty much welcome not to participate.
I mean if it's just money we're talking about, Tyson can sit comfortably in his bed of cash without ever having to touch the boxing gloves again. My statement was more of satirical really rather than something to take seriously. Given the fact that he had a history with mismanagement of funds and all that which lead him to being bankrupt and indebted way back then.

Anywho, For me this should be a separate event. The Tyson-Ngannou fight is good and all that and they deserve a powerful opener before the main event, but Mike is more than just an opening fighter, he's the main event ever since and even if he's already retired, I don't think we're putting enough respect in his name by giving him just the opening fight slot instead of his own event. But oh well, I heard that the Two Tysons are in great terms and are even good friends, perhaps Mike Tyson's doing this as a favor for his friend. Idk for sure.
919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Gambling Sites and Bug/Exploit Reporting and Rewards. on: September 13, 2023, 10:31:50 PM
I see how noble and awesome this may be. But since this means less profit to the gambling site, I don't think they would be so keen as to implement such a feature even if it means that this will drive more users into their casino. For one, it doesn't make sense for them to invest money on coders and bug-catchers when solving simple bugs within the site is as easy as refreshing the website, and automatically refunding the money/wager that the customer has made. Sure this is a huge bummer on the customer's end but at the very least this absolves them from the responsibility of solving these bugs. Another would be the fact that most of these casinos aren't accepting of other people touching their code base. It's so easy to fetch source codes nowadays that you can basically create a derivative of a centralized casino on your own. They knew this much and are afraid of the legal repercussions that they might get tied with if such a situation comes around. So, they just wing their bugs.
920  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 13, 2023, 09:19:13 PM
<>

Better it would be pushed through and your right that the hype is already on the roof on which i do really have questions in mind on why those promoters or boxing organization wont really be considering out this fight
to happen? Of course it would really be that understandable that they should really be on the same division but totally checking then they are really just that the same.
I did see something interesting here:  https://box.live/fights/inoue-vs-casimero/ . Is this something that shows about those probabilities to be pushed on?

Here are the notable differences in between two.
The stats suggest Inoue would have a large advantage in power over Casimero, boosting at 88% knock out percentage over Casimero's 67%.

Naoya Inoue is the younger man by 3 years, at 30 years old.
Inoue has a height advantage of 1 inch over Casimero.
Both Naoya Inoue & John Riel Casimero fight out of an orthodox stance.

Source

So with these info along then you could really tell on who does have the advantage.

I truly think that because Inoue has the advantage in this fight against Casimero, it is going to be a bigger fight for Casimero, and if he can actually give his opponent a close competition, which is going to be appreciated by a lot of people. And in the movies we see a line being thrown around, "he did not win the fight, but he did win the hearts of people". Probably something like that is going to happen if Casimero can take this close. But with the knockout power that Inoue has, it is not going to be surprising to see Casimero get knocked out. But that fight has to get arranged in the first place. I think this is the right time when the fight should be arranged. If they are late, they might kill the hype.

The possibility for the fight to happen depends on how fans will try to bring the hype to the promoters. They both need to win with their respective upcoming fight, then start to talk about the possibility.

I think all that opinion and speculation can only be concluded once they are already inside the ring
fighting each other, for now, we can just bring our opinion and favor who we think that have the
advantage according to their past fights and stats.
Isn't this fight already decided from the get-go? Plus what about the fight against Tapales? I'm pretty sure that's still in the works (I haven't been updated in the latest boxing news and updates as I got very busy so fill me in if you can), and if it were to be canned that's going to be a major issue on Tapales' camp since they prepared for this fight and, even though at a massive disadvantage, is hoping to snatch the crown from Inoue. If they'd ditch the bout in exchange for a fight against Casimero when we already know what the answer would be given how weak Casimero's work ethic is, a lot of people who are looking to see a rising star face against an established fighter will be very upset. I say let this fight start and talk about Casimero-Inoue after.
