Lurker status confirmed.
982  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Breaking News! Bitcoin mining company threatens to kill fellow Bitcoiner via PM on: June 01, 2014, 04:23:26 PM
Yes, but the police are probably less likely to do anything about it.

I've had some experience with this, you don't report this kind of stuff so the police will do anything about it, you report so you can establish a history in case something does happen. If you are ever involved in an incident, and need to defend yourself in court, or in an investigation, being able to produce a history that's already on the record is invaluable to be able to show that you did fear injury or death.

Yes Bruno you should report it, it won't take long.

Hi BadBear,
It seems like Anon136 really did break the rules, though to my understanding (reading what he says) he thought that he was  just on the EDGE for braking the rules becaus his giveaway was actually no alt. coin.

Most importantly, he is an very important member of this Forum as he is a trusted escrow. He is holding around 100 BTC of more then 100 bitcointalk users in escrow for EXO_coin and maybe more for other escrows I am not aware of.

I am sure that he will from now on be more care full with not braking or walking on the edge of braking the rules.
Please, can you give him a second chance and remove the ban? Its not just for him, but for every one holding quite large amount of Money with him.

Thanks!

He's done a lot of good, and helped many to not get scammed, so taking that into consideration, I've reduced it to 5 days (4 remaining).
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Giveaway threads are not allowed on: June 01, 2014, 12:30:12 PM
Apparently you guys have banned anon136.

I'm posting because according to the information in the OP, and unless there's something we ignore, the ban is improper.

Quote from: theymos
Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

that's what anon136 was doing here.

He's providing escrow service here currently and he's done so several times in the past successfully.

Please consider removing his ban.

Thanks.

Wrong thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=608247.0

He even says in the thread he knew it was against the rules, yet it continues.

People also seem to be confused, it isn't posting addresses specifically that's against the rules (though that is one of the most common type), it's incentivizing posts. Some people were putting the addresses in their signature then posting anyway, it's the same thing. Some were just posting their addresses in the thread.
986  Other / Meta / Re: reporting fake account : lightningasic` on: June 01, 2014, 12:02:38 PM
Hello, please block member lightningasic` , notice the ` , he is trying to scam forum members pretending he is me.

Thank you

Done, but next time have them report the pm using the report button at the lower left right, it will get handled quicker that way.

987  Other / Meta / Re: What exactly are the rules of the forum and where do I find them ? on: May 31, 2014, 06:25:43 PM
Also , can we get the signature limitations to be put in the forum ranks thread ? Maybe on the first page.

Done, added to the OP (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.msg1861412#msg1861412), also added some formatting and spacing to the entire post to make it a bit more organized looking, it was just a wall of quotes before.
988  Other / Meta / Re: Dear Mods/Admins on: May 31, 2014, 12:38:10 PM
There was a flood of thousands of bots voting in that poll, hence the account ban/removal. So thank them for that.
989  Other / Meta / Re: What exactly are the rules of the forum and where do I find them ? on: May 31, 2014, 09:01:48 AM
Yes I'm including myself and other global mods when I say mods. I can remove/modify bans but I still don't have the other information I would need so I rarely do, unless it was obviously a mistake, which has happened. Theymos, the moderator, and the user are the only ones who really know what happened.

I don't really want to handle appeals, most people seem to think it's a magic unban me button as long as they ask nice, or be annoying enough. I don't think anyone would volunteer to do that, unless they hate themselves.
990  Other / Meta / Re: What exactly are the rules of the forum and where do I find them ? on: May 31, 2014, 08:00:15 AM
Mods don't make good appealers, not enough information available. Can't see deleted posts, mod logs, ips, etc.
991  Other / Meta / Re: What exactly are the rules of the forum and where do I find them ? on: May 31, 2014, 06:26:25 AM
Most of the forum rules are in stickies in the subforums. A list of general rules stickied in Meta would be a good idea I think.

Not sure on the alt accounts of banned users or scammers. Sometimes it seems to be considered ban evasion but other times they seem to let it slide.

Banned users posting a thread in meta is okay, while technically ban evasion, it's not something we really ban for. There may be issues that need to be addressed and theymos may not have time to deal with it through appeals. Other than that it's ban evasion and will result in ban extension or permaban.

Most of the time that isn't the case and it's supremely annoying in those cases, especially since they tend to leave out important details, but whatever.
992  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: May 31, 2014, 06:07:48 AM
Thanks for the heads up on holdaaja, please feel free to pm me if you see others, I'm doing the best I can but I'm basically doing it by myself so I'm not going to get them all.
993  Other / Meta / Re: Please, fix the link to # position on page in PM on: May 30, 2014, 01:43:28 PM
Works fine for me. It's probably AdBlock messing with it.
994  Other / Meta / Re: Who is moving this ? on: May 30, 2014, 12:42:28 PM
Because I haven't gone through the reports yet, I deal with pm's and other issues first.  Moving a thread doesn't automatically handle a report, I will mark it as handled when I get to it.

Edit: That's odd, they were marked as handled already. Someone did it by mistake probably.
995  Other / Meta / Re: Who is moving this ? on: May 30, 2014, 12:27:25 PM
May I know the reason of this discrepancy ?

Because nobody reported them/we didn't see it. Now you have, and they got moved. See how easy it is?

Services is intended for services/trades that take place here. If you're a business and have your own website your thread goes in service announcements. Service discussion is for discussion of either type of service.
996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Giveaway threads are not allowed on: May 30, 2014, 07:53:30 AM
Not you, danyo and the pandacoin dev.
997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dankcoin on: May 30, 2014, 06:48:01 AM
You're making this coin for free money, but everyone else are the greedy ones? Your lack of self awareness is amusing.
998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Giveaway threads are not allowed on: May 30, 2014, 06:41:09 AM
Am happy that something has been done to prevent this from happening. Too many topics where been made just to promote and give coins out for people to use and try creating   lot of exposure and good vibes about coins when most where just worthless. If people want to do a give away then at least do that give-away on their own site or a place where it can be done. Maybe make a section up just for coin giveaway to keep stuff in one section and no everywhere.

Just so it is clear, and I know it doesn't excuse them, but they weren't doing a giveaway. They were helping people that were scammed by another coin.

Quote from: bdanyo
Just a heads up to the Pandacoin (PND) community. We might be experiencing some posts from the Rightcoin community. We are doing another community compensation campaign for those that got hurt with unethical scammy developers, similar to our initiative with Rightcoin.

So just a heads up and not to confuse you all when that happens!
They obviously should have directed people to post offsite regarding this, but it's still very sad that the Pandacoin devs or community weren't given a warning and the offending posts deleted. Instead they were punished (unfairly imo) for caring for the cryptocurrency community in general. Meanwhile, real scammers often are not.

There was plenty of warning. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310

I'm not trying to be difficult, but would it have really been so difficult to post a warning with a link to that thread in the Panda's thread beforehand? I imagine it would've taken 2 extra seconds to post a warning as apposed to locking the thread. Just seems kinda cold and heartless to me. There are over 2000 posts in that thread. Doesn't that say something to the importance of this community? As someone wise once said...

Rules are born from principles to protect the righteous and innocent.
Rigidly adhering to rules where the result violates the spirit of their principles is unwise and self defeating.

Thanks for the link. Breaking more rules isn't going to make us be sympathetic.

A wild ban evader has appeared!
999  Other / Meta / Re: is [Suspicious link removed] are same? on: May 30, 2014, 06:16:36 AM
The forum does it automatically for some links from newbs. It wasn't manually applied.

Don't be silly, it's clearly a conspiracy.
1000  Other / Meta / Re: Subud! is banned why? on: May 30, 2014, 06:13:38 AM
Subud! is banned and cannot even login to his account and he cannot read pm why this kind of ban?

He bump his thread on May 28 and his next bump was May 29.
Can't we bump more than once in a day?

 No. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3629.msg5541656#msg5541656

4. Bumps are limited to once per day (24 hours), yes this includes "updates", that's what the edit button is for. Old bumps should be deleted as they serve no purpose, and only clutter up topics and make it more annoying to read.

This isn't a new rule either, I just reposted it there to make it more visible since it was becoming a problem. The original posting was buried in some other topic.
