1484  Other / Meta / Re: Why I cannot delete posts in Archival? on: April 06, 2020, 06:25:37 PM
I don't want to delete the whole thread but to be able to delete at least the comments. I think I can delete threads in other sections even if they have views ( I'm not sure about that).
We really need a testing ground maybe under off-topic section.
1485  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: April 06, 2020, 01:46:44 PM
Hello,

I see there is a discussion and the calculation of merited user changed, to consider the airdropped merit in the "merited" ranking.

I agree with  this statement

I have to assume that the forum (theymos) merited accounts initially for a reason, and so I feel it makes sense to be included.

But there is something wrong in my opinion.

If you go to the page https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topusersat you will see " Top-merited users, all-time"

Theymos is not considering airdropped merit as "merited".

If you scroll down the list, all airdropped merit is just ignored in the "Top-merited users" official forum stats.

However, when we go to BPIP website there are users with 0 earned merit, but they are counted as "merited".
In the official forum "top-merited" stats, I am about 40th top merited users, but in BPIP I am 140. It makes a huge difference from official stats and third party BPIP stats.

TL/DR: Airdropped merit is were not "merited", even in official bitcointalk statistics. in my opinion, there should be other name or other way to contabilize it in BPIP statistics.

There is already a list with those who have EARNED merit the most : https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=earnedmerit
The stats are already there, what is going to be on the main page is not that important, at least for me if I still have access to it.

According to the BPIP badges, yeah I dropped from 20th to 50th place but those are just stats, the badges does not make you more or less important, it's just for fun. Besides this is an free-will\self-funded project, so I do respect all the work, time and money invested in it and if those guys decided to put up the top Merited users the way they are now, it's their decision, I'm thankful I can do what I do using their data.

Found this user : https://bpip.org/?notindatabase--2780099
Why so? Registered 13 or March and has 6 porst already. Seems he escaped the BPIP as well (reading his posts Grin )

1487  Other / Meta / Why I cannot delete posts in Archival? on: April 06, 2020, 11:53:35 AM
I made a testing thread with some posts in Archival, but I can't delete my posts from the thread. I have to move it to Off-topic only to delete the posts and them move it back to Archival if I want to keep it for testing?
What is the reason to have the posts locked for deleting in there?
What is the best place for a testing ground threads?

Idea: just don't count posts in archival or make a subsection for testing where the posts don't count.

Found some info from theymos>
Old threads don't need to be moved to Archival. Just lock them. Archival is meant to be used by moderators in only a few rare situations. (Though I don't mind if you move your obsolete topics there if you want to for some reason.)
1488  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for reporting posts on: April 03, 2020, 09:51:16 AM
This got me wondering, if multiple users report the same post will they all get credit for reporting the post?
No. Who ever got to report that post first will be the only one to receive the credit. The others will have the mark of "Bad". Afaik

You are wrong here, if 10 different people have reported the same post with correct feedback and if the post is removed then they all get the report as "good". You get bad one, if the feedback you provided is wrong, you have already reported it before or the post has not crossed the rules ( according to the perception of the Mod who is handling the reports).
Sometimes if the reports stay unhanded, that means that the mod has no privileges to handle the reports and a global Mod has to take over, or the posts are not against the rules but are doing shady business and are not actually bad. Example is my 50+ un-handled reports for posts using homograph attacks or text spinners - they are basically hiding plagiarism with tools which are not against the rules but are definitely cheating. Since we have not 100% proof that they are good or bad, those just hanged as unhandled.
1489  Other / Meta / Re: [TelegramBot] Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot on: April 03, 2020, 09:07:41 AM
I don't know how difficult it can be to make it work but is it possible to get a notifications for a new threads in a section? There is already an option in the forum to receive an email notifications but I would prefer to collect all notifications in one. I know the OP is quite busy at the moment, this is just a question.

Ann thread full of spam and many banned commented as well. The OP was offline for almost a year with accusations for scam and accounts trading. Lately the ANN thread is filled with spam from newbies.

I don't actually have the seed orelse I would have simply imported the address and signed a message from blockchain wallet itself.
The only things I have is: "Wallet-id & password" which gives me access to the blockchain wallet.

I hope the email verification works as it's my last hope perhaps. Embarrassed

This is enough, login to your blockchain wallet, go to Secuity Settings and then Backup Phrase.
Click on the Backup Funds and follow the instructions.
There you gonna get your 12 word seed which you can import in Electrum.
It's easy.

I even made a guide, see below Smiley
1494  Other / Meta / Re: April fools 2020 "virus" on: April 02, 2020, 10:49:31 PM
Theymos, thank you for prank, it was fun like always. But some posts were really difficult to read Cheesy.

The virus had a random occurrence so if you refreshed the post you were reading the infected words also changed and with 2-3 hits of F5 you could read all posts Smiley
It's a bit too late for this tip but... you never know, theymos said that he'll keep the source code of the virus just in case.
1495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Calling the Bitcoin community to help battle COVID-19 on: April 02, 2020, 10:39:00 PM

did not find the choice for COVID-19!!  currently, the US is heading to 300 thousand infected.  Cry

You have to choose "Any diseases" and wait to get a COVID-19 WUs. If you go to the news section of the site you can find what are the latest projects published and see what you can expect to work on.
1496  Other / Meta / Re: Self-made Legendary Observer - another well-deserved Legendary-xtraelv,Congrats! on: April 02, 2020, 07:13:31 AM

Unfortunately I will not be posting much for some time. Despite the country being in full lockdown - the busineses I am involved with are classed as an essential service so will be focusing on a combined effort in trying to beat this pandemic.

You are basically a Legend outside of the forum as well. Fighting the pandemic, risking your healt and life for helping the others one way or another can only show what person you are.
Again, you have my respect!
You are a big part of the history of this forum!
1497  Economy / Reputation / Re: LoyceV's reputation thread on: April 02, 2020, 07:01:02 AM
I tried Cheesy http://loyce.club/ showed this yesterday: https://archive.is/jaeop.
The link "Electrum.exe" didn't lead to an executable, but to a directory, so any browser visits loyce.club/electrum.exe/index.html. Clicking the link showed this page: https://archive.is/dbztm.
I was half expecting a scam accusation against me from someone who didn't click the link, but nothing happened.

I'm just leaving this here to document my first failed Bitcoin related April Fools joke Smiley

Do you know how many clicks you got on that link? I was one of them Smiley I think people put too much trust in you to actually report you for such thing, especially on 1st of April Smiley So pulling the "scam" joke does not really suits your reputation, sorry Wink
1498  Other / Meta / Re: April fools 2020 "virus" on: April 02, 2020, 06:55:16 AM
So I infected iasenko and ice18 Sorry guys Wink

I guess this was kind of revenge for bumping up the April's fool threads the day before Tongue

@Theymos, thanks for the fun, I understand that the virus is a tragedy for some people but no need to be offended by the joke. It's like to be offended by this guy.
1499  Other / Meta / Re:[April Fools] vaccine created by WO gang! on: April 01, 2020, 11:22:16 PM
