I think this vulnerability doesn't allow the attacker to spend crypto from a cryptio wallet. Does it? Imagine that Bob send picture to Alice, then Charley can simply replace the picture infected with simple keylogger, then her crypto password is also gone. Actually, Charley can send whatever he wants, pretending he is Bob and get a full control over Alice device. Bluetooth secure connection establishment does not require user interaction He can send you everything you can imagine, so I quite think this is crypto related. Just be careful when your blutooth speaker decides to share a file with you  Imagine sitting in a traffic jam and you listen to Spotify on your car, it can happen also waiting for the traffic light, smart bands/ watches everything can be compromised. |

Little bit of off-topic, but here is question, how long it last the battery of this Mi band 4? My old one Mi-band 2 is still working great, checked it now, last charged was 8 days ago and it's on 76% still. This is for 4-5 years old band. On topic the notifications on the Mi-band 2 are working perfictly Really depends on the amount of notification you get, but I usually squeeze 20 days out of it. Hey! If you are wearing the merit notification smartband, you definetly have to post a picture! Will do, I tried to catch it a few times but.. without success, it's too damn fast the notification  . there will be one more wooly wrist There you go :  Ahah it is definitely the worst picture!! Are you sure you have to catch notifications on the fly? I don’t know how the 2 works, but in the 3 I can scroll to the notification menu and tapping on it I can “replay” the last notification... so it is pretty useful to take picture without staying hours staring at your wrists!  We are having fun with this think after all... MB2 is a bit crippled, you get only telegram icon as notification. In addition with the last firmware update the screen brightness was reduced too much so you barely see anything. I'm using it only when I'm out working in the garden or do something to the house, basically for dirty work. I can take a pic of my Huawei Watch if you want that will be a bit better, but since you started the thread as for a smartband notifications I though I may use my old band  |

Academics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) disclosed a security vulnerability in Bluetooth that could potentially allow an attacker to spoof a remotely paired device, exposing over a billion of modern devices to hackers.
 The attacks, dubbed Bluetooth Impersonation AttackS or BIAS, concerns Bluetooth Classic, which supports Basic Rate (BR) and Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) for wireless data transfer between devices.
"The Bluetooth specification contains vulnerabilities enabling to perform impersonation attacks during secure connection establishment," the researchers outlined in the paper. "Such vulnerabilities include the lack of mandatory mutual authentication, overly permissive role switching, and an authentication procedure downgrade."
Given the widespread impact of the vulnerability, the researchers said they responsibly disclosed the findings to the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), the organization that oversees the development of Bluetooth standards in December 2019.
With most standard-compliant Bluetooth devices impacted by the vulnerability, the researchers said they tested the attack against as many as 30 devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, headphones, and single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi. All the devices were found to be vulnerable to BIAS attacks.
The Bluetooth SIG said it's updating the Bluetooth Core Specification to "avoid a downgrade of secure connections to legacy encryption," which lets the attacker initiate "a master-slave role switch to place itself into the master role and become the authentication initiator."
In addition to urging companies to apply the necessary patches, the organization is recommending Bluetooth users to install the latest updates from the device and operating system manufacturers.
"The BIAS attacks are the first uncovering issues related to Bluetooth's secure connection establishment authentication procedures, adversarial role switches, and Secure Connections downgrades," the research team concluded. "The BIAS attacks are stealthy, as Bluetooth secure connection establishment does not require user interaction."

It looks like that you invite users to communicate not on this forum but on the your channel? I wonder if theymos likes this idea? This is somehow related to the delay in starting the Epochtalk? As far as I know, theymos has given his approval. The server is a place where people can interact with each other on different subjects. At the moment there are only 2-3 channels but we are still in the beginning. A own channel for Epochtalk is also on the to-do list. A verification is also considered, so we can avoid the monkey business in the future. After being there since day one I can say that I love it now... Just to note> There is no sig.camp. spam so people say what they really wanna say and they are not getting paid for doing so |

Tested it for a few days now, I can only say that I love it. Before i got notifications only when I was @mentioned. I see room for more improvement as some people already mentioned their suggestions but overall it's great |

Updated I have nothing against you, i just don't trust your judgment, adding everyone to the trust list is making the thrust lists useless. The trust system can have some small issues, but no system is perfect for everyone after all and i do admire the way theymos came up with the idea. Indeed, I don't know that he'll run it again in May. But when 6 months from the last run comes up I'm going to nag him to do it. I got seriously gimped in the last update because I'd been inactive for a while. BTW today is exaclty 6 months ... I nagged back on the 4th, 10 days ahead of the 6 month intervals. Theymos indicated that he would be updating it again, but also indicated he'd be doing it differently than last time. That's a good news, thanks we've waited so long, a few more days won't be a problem. |
