1901  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchanges X Canada on: May 15, 2023, 05:38:33 PM
Great timing Canada! Now the government launches public consultations on a digital dollar
This is not coincidence at all, Canadian government is becoming pathetic, not even South Park can make jokes with them after this...
It was all part of the plan, and I am sure they are going to do something similar with all countries around the world in future.
Few days ago I saw people in Nigeria posted video of finding bunch of bags full of destroyed paper fiat currency, so they are so stupid they don't even destroy/recycle is properly and they forced eNaira to people  Roll Eyes

Thinking about it: they're doing the same as Europe and the US are doing recently... So, not so surprising...
First close exchanges, or push them away with crazy regulations, than try to do the same with Bitcoin, and finally limit the use of internet, that's the plan.
It's not that I trust any centralized exchanges and guys like CZ, but we should really move on decentralized exchanges, and local P2P trading as soon as possible.
1902  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Whirlwind.money | ⚡No Fee⚡ | Ultimate Privacy | Anonymity Mining 12% APR🔥 on: May 15, 2023, 05:24:57 PM
The user contacted us and this is the information given to us:
1. He didn't save the Note Private Key
2. He didn't save the Note Public Address
3. He didn't save the Letter of Guarantee
4. He doesen't remember the exact donation % used
5. He can sign a message from the address used to deposit on Whirlwind
Sorry but I don't believe the story this guy is saying at all.
I can somehow understand that he didn't save note priv key, note public address, and letter of guarantee, but I don't believe he can't remember how much coins he donated, he can just check pervious transactions in his wallet.
Maybe I would say something different if I was in his place, but than again I don't think I would ever do something like this.
You should add clear information/warning on your website that coins can't be returned in any way if those files are not saved (minimum must be stated).

2. Temporarily disable all Notes with similar balances and wait for the other Note holders to contact us to reenable them. If after some time 1 Note remains unchanged and we didn't receive any inquiries about it we would assume it belongs to this users and refund him. We would still risk taking the hit ourselves because the remaining Note holder may just not pay attention to the situation and not inquire about it only until after we've refunded. This is another dangerous precedent which we would like to avoid at all costs.
Nope.
Don't shoot yourself in the foot by disabling all notes with similar balance.

3. Treat Whirlwind as a network and respect the rules, in this case we will not be able to help in any way and the user would lose access to his funds assuming it's true that indeed he lost the private key
That also means that you should accept any loses in case someone finds a flaw and abuses your system, this is a double edged sword.
Making everything more decentralized sooner would eliminate the need to even talk about this issues.
1903  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Image uploading websites/ scripts for Bitcointalk users on: May 15, 2023, 03:54:44 PM
Image deletion later
There is an option to delete images in TalkImg later (if you save original link with delete command) or if you create account (invitation only for now), or if you ask Joker to delete it.
1904  Other / Meta / Re: [Script] Fix broken Imgur images forum-wide (client only) on: May 15, 2023, 03:44:25 PM
1. Download the Tampermonkey or ViolentMonkey extension for PC, Kiwi Browser for Android.
2. Install the script: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/466302-fix-bitcointalk-imgur-images
I tried using this script as temporary solution until TalkImg is fixed, but it's not working correctly for me.
Invalid image notification is not shown (I can see it for one second than it's gone) but I don't see anything because all images are removed from my posts, and I tried testing with different posts and topics.
Note that I am not using any adblocker in bitcointalk forum, so we can exclude that option for creating problems.
1905  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk [SERVER UNDER UPDATES] on: May 15, 2023, 03:32:25 PM
Because of the changes that have occurred recently with the Imgur service, there has been a significant increase in TalkImg usage. As you can guess, I had anticipated a gradual increase in usage, not a sudden increase like it has been these past few days. This forced us to readjust plans and move forward with updates to the server earlier than expected.
You started TalkImg service in perfect time just when Imgur stopped working like before, so this was expected to happen for me, and I even asked you about this issue few days ago  Wink
I uploaded one image today using TalkImg, wanted to upload three more and I was unable to do it, that is much less than 50 images per IP address.
This is not complain at all, just posting my feedback from today and luckily I can still use other alternatives (for now).

PS
I think you are going to need more donation support for server updates soon, better start accepting bitcoin deals for discrete promotion.
1906  Economy / Reputation / Re: How much longer will JollyGood take to reverse his feedback? on: May 15, 2023, 03:12:20 PM
What's worse is you appear to have a bunch of accounts on this forum, and one of them is even in DT2:
Oh it looks like plot thickens, and new multi account connection is now unlocked Shocked
Whenever I see someone bitching so much about neutral feedback I know there is something fishy about that, but they usually dig their own hole with bringing attention of investigators Wink
I don't think that coco23 and all his alt accounts should be in DT at all...

Looks like coco23 isn't his alt because this user is active in German board, while Zilon and dbc23 are from Nigeria.
That could also mean that some accounts changed hands (maybe in 2020).
1907  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Ethereum mikser mixer on: May 15, 2023, 02:40:35 PM

Malo više tipkaj i sve ostalo radi drugom zdravom rukom  Wink

1909  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 35 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: May 15, 2023, 01:58:45 PM
Maybe I should avoid putting a price for DIY wallets
Or you can just say that prices starting from $50 and going up, clever marketing trick but you need to put some work collecting and assembling everything if you want to pay less  Wink

Since you already added many hardware wallets with lot of details, it would be only fair to expect honest reviews for them soon (if manufacturers send you free devices for testing).
1910  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S screen problem on: May 15, 2023, 01:52:08 PM
Finally found some free time to replace the broken display on my Ledger nano s. The device had served me faithfully for four years before it suddenly stopped working. This prompted me to purchase the nano s+ last year.
Nice work!
I always appreciated good old do-it-yourself fixing instead of paying extra premium to repairman or official manufacturer (not that I am fan of ledger devices in any way).
You can use ledger even when display is not visible anymore, just turn on your smartphone video camera, point over ledger and magic happens... maybe this could be used to prevent scammers, intentional faulty display protection mechanism  Cheesy
1911  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Trezor Fake wallet scam! on: May 15, 2023, 01:32:45 PM
I remember few years ago people reported some fake Trezor One hardware wallets, and many legit companies cloned and forked Trezor because of their Open Source code.
Now there are new reports of Trezor Model T fake devices that are used to scam people and steal coins from them, and this was confirmed by well known company Kaspersky.

Attackers waited patiently for owner to deposit larg enough amount of coins before they stole them from him.
From outside this fake Trezor T wallet looks identical like original Trezor device, it was ordered from popular website and it had holographic sticker on original box.
First strange things was asking to update latest firmware version 2.0.4 that was not available on official Trezor github.

Things look different when you open it and check the board, there are traces of soldering and  microcontroller STM32F429 fully was used instead of original model STM32F427, and it had fully deactivated flash-memory read-out protection.
Image below is showing original device on left sight, and fake device is on the right side:

Source Article: https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/fake-trezor-hardware-crypto-wallet/48155/

Bootloader and wallet firmware had three modifications, first to bypass checking that device is genuine, second change was making owner use seed phrase previously generated by scammers, and third change was making attackers easy to crack password.

How to prevent attacks like this?
- This is textbook example of supply-chain attack, that is why it's very important to buy hardware wallets only from official website or resellers.

1912  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: May 13, 2023, 10:01:29 PM
Its time for yet another brief monthly overview, this time for the month of April 2023.
Thank you for one more report sir Rikafip.
Our local section had better days for activity, but we had one of the new players injured, so we have some kind of excuse.
When we take in account number of active users than we are not doing that bad after all, and our king is doing all the hard work for us  Wink
1913  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 13, 2023, 09:51:41 PM
Can you, @LoyceV or @tryninja or anyone program a script that allow each user to download all the images of each posts on a directory? So that thoseximages are not lost and can be later re-uploaded?
I am not a coder or developer, but other guys you mentioned are welcome to try and fix this.

That's why I say: this service is only to be used on the BitcoinTalk forum. Avoid using it in other places, there is a risk that it will not work or stop working in those places in the future.
Maybe you should some kind of minimal disclaimer warning on website bottom, in addition to TOS page.
Something like Use only on Bitcointalk forum or Bitcointalk only allowed use or Bitcointalk only.

I used talkimg on a post of mine, but the image fails to show up properly. I can see it loading, but it then disappears.
Your images dont load correctly for me also.
First I see multiple images start loading and then they are gone and only one is left like this (and I don't use any adblockers on Bitcointalk forum):

PS
 joker_josue
Do we really need to click Agree with terms each time we open a website?
Plese give us some version that skips this that can work with Tor browser.

1914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The cost of maintaining wallet on: May 13, 2023, 09:36:10 PM
First send your seed phase or private keys to your emails, also use them to compose a little song only can listen anytime, write it down in your diaries, and makes sure have a google doc to save your wallet keys and other information.
This is probably one of the worst advices I saw in a while... you should NEVER send your private keys or seed phrase with email!
You should also not record it in any digital form or google docs, this is even worse... little song?!  No, don't complicate things and make up wheel all over again Roll Eyes
Seed phrases or private keys should ideally be generated offline and written on paper with multiple backups, and additional optional passphrase for additional security.

There is no cost of maintaining wallet, except time used for updating it.
1915  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]⚡whirlwind.money | Anonymity Mining Campaign | 12% APR | Daily Rewards⚡ on: May 12, 2023, 11:42:45 PM
Multi-sig Balance
Maybe you could try using the latest tool from member Bitmover for updating live Multi-sig Balance and Reward distributed (with some tweaking):
https://bitcoindata.science/bitcointalk-api.html

Nothing happens if people don't deposit, same as if we never started this campaign. On the other hand that would mean that there is no interest at all in Whirlwind, even though it's hard to believe that will be the case. All the feedback we received until now from people that tried us out was very positive, especially for the Pay to Note system. We built a novel system and that's almost surely the reason why it takes longer for users to get accustomed to it and understand its advantages, but with time we are sure this will change for the better.
So if I understand correctly you need to have more transactions for this campaign to work, that means it's better to have a 1000 transactions sent with 0.1 BTC than to have 100 BTC sent all at once from one wallet?
1916  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: PeachBitcoin.com | P2P Bitcoin Exchange 🍑 #kycfree on: May 12, 2023, 11:27:12 PM
I mean, looking at liquid.network I can barely see any transaction, and besides Blockstream's wallet I don't any major wallet integrating it (I may just be ignorant, tho). Of course it's always nice to see support for different technologies and someone has to go first, but as a startup with limited resources, you may want to think twice before doing it.
You can literally see transactions happening all the time on mempool explorer, it's not like BTC mainnet for sure, but I am not expecting it to ever be like that.
As for wallets I know ledger hardware wallet is supporting Liquid chain, they have app and it works connected with Green wallet, and we also have Jade hardware wallet with full support.
I don't know any other wallets supporting Liquid chain yet, but many centralized exchanges are supporting it.
One good thing about Liquid (and I don't like federated blabla blockstream) is the fact we can use confidential transactions, and enter/exit stable coins much easier.
1917  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Introducing LetsExchange, a Registration-Free Service for Instant Crypto Swaps on: May 12, 2023, 11:19:31 PM
Which mobile browser supports the metamask extension/add-on? I always knew the whole point of the metamask mobile app is because there is no support for mobile browsers. One can still connect the exchange to the metamask mobile app via walletconnect.
Firefox for android should support extensions, and for chrome based browsers there are Bromite, Yandex and maybe even Brave browser will work, but there is no guarantee everything will work fine.
1918  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 12, 2023, 11:03:15 PM
Slight problem: I've downloaded 398 images so far, and it takes 92 MB. I don't know the exact number yet, but it looks like there are about 800k images in total. So give or take 200 GB
Maybe you can compress them or convert to other image type to reduce size and still keep the same look like of original images.
I like the idea of replacing images if possible, or forum will soon look like ''war'' zone  Tongue

I have an immediate feature request: add a couple of field for “height” and “width” attributes.
Good idea, I am supporting it but this should be only with keeping aspect ration same, so maybe something like percentage slider -%+ for reducing images would be cool.

1919  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: COLDCARD edge release (Taproot) 🧙‍♂️ on: May 12, 2023, 10:47:16 PM
This one has Taproot (with limitations) and BSMS
Is that for ordinals crap or what, and when can we expect to have full Taproot support like other hardware wallets have (Trezor, Bitbox02, OneKey, and Ledger)?

I added ColdCard in my list of all wallets supporting Taproot but it has Limited note next to it:

1920  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor standard v hidden wallet? on: May 12, 2023, 10:38:07 PM
I have made the password quite challenging, but at the same time it is possible to commit it to memory.
Password is not the same thing as Passphrase.
You can have multiple passphrases and they are all acting as salt to your seed words and creating separate accounts.
Hiding this account is possible with settings option in Trezor Suite app, but if you forget passprhase you will lose your coins even if you have seed phrase words.

Because as I understand, I have one seedphrase for the two wallets (hidden, standard).
Seedphrase is one, ontop of that you can create multiple accounts with different passphrases.

I cannot access the hidden wallet.... but is there still a way to access the coins, if I have the seed, but not the passphrase?
No, unless you used some stupid easy passphrase like 1234, QWER, etc and someone cracks it.
