2001  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.IO Suspends Cloud Mining............. on: January 16, 2015, 01:48:33 PM
now bitcoin prize is 210 dolar
if we can see over 250 dolar, mining will be profitable again
i hope we can see..
i lose profit cex and hashnest in same time Sad

What was the price when cex stopped its cloud mining operations? I think they will definitely offer cloud mining when the price is 300$

it was 230 USD.

many other big miners stopped their activity and cash out the Bitcoin. the boat is sinking  Embarrassed

There are rumors the reason bitcoin took this huge plummet is off of BFL. They had to sell off their bitcoin to fiat to pay their customers in a lawsuit. Guess what they still have over 90,000 btc left to dump. It seems bitcoin rebounds above 200 mark so thats good to know.

I am not entirely convinced about this explanation. The truth may lie in a few people dumping large amounts for various reasons : those who stole the gox coins or the stamp coins or during an other hack.

many people sold because they know BTC price will go to 50 USD very soon.
2002  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: EgoPay servers compromised? Sending fake transactions to merchants on: January 16, 2015, 01:46:49 PM
I am a user of both EgoPay and of the bitcoin exchange Virtex.com which is also owned by Egopay founder Tadas Kasputis (who started it with fellow Lithuanians Paulius Meskauskas, Tomas Andzelis and Mantas Gustys.)

For the past ten days I've been unable to get any funds out.  Both my fiat withdrawal requests and my BTC withdrawal requests are stuck, and support staff is completely silent. However, at the moment Virtex is still active and trading: But just not paying any funds out to its victims.

Virtex.com is hacked too and they won't pay anybody...
2003  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 【LakeBTC.com】Bitcoin Exchange on: January 16, 2015, 01:44:16 PM
so that, i see why i can't deposit on lakebtc via egopay, thanks for your sharing.

LakeBTC didn't come to announce their losses with Egopay. I am wondering why.... Smiley
2004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners are killing bitcoin on: January 16, 2015, 01:40:21 PM
Why don't they just mine and hold? Man, must be great if you actually own 100k BTC after a year of mining. But no... dumping. Short sighted vision is what's killing Bitcoin.

a miner MUST change the hardware yearly if not often than that. how can he pay the bills?

in the near fuure, the mining will be only in China Smiley
2005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 16, 2015, 01:33:21 PM
Read the article just now also.  This is in theory only, and hasn't actually been executed on any wallets.

The attacker would have to install the backdoor software on your PC or offline wallet device to extract the private keys.

Basically, if you don't take the proper precautions on your PC or network, then yes you can get hacked.

According to article, this attack is unable to be performed at scale, so only one wallet at a time could be targeted.

How do you know that it was not hacked?

Hacking reports are daily including with the exchangers.

What the article wants to say is that the cold storage is not safe at all.
2006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 16, 2015, 01:26:55 PM

Your funds are not safe neither in "cold storage". Read:

https://www2.informatik.hu-berlin.de/~verbuech/klepto-ecdsa/klepto-ecdsa.pdf

many of you said "cold storage is the best". well. it is not. that explains many hacks in Bitcoin which some of the bitcoiners considered to be very safe. Smiley

What's next? Mass withdrawals from Bitcoin. What can you do when you KNOW that your cold storage is exposed to be stolen? You must be stupid to keep your earnings there.

Are you a mind reader or something , haha.
I was just reading the same thing on Coindesk and planning to share it here => http://www.coindesk.com/research-hackers-install-backdoor-bitcoin-cold-storage/
Anyway , to be honest . that's really dosen't make me comfortable , those hackers always find a way to screw things up.

"The attacker only has to watch the blockchain until two [compromised] signatures appear ... the affected signatures are not detectable by anyone other than the attacker."

Sorry, I was faster. It happens to me so often(I am modest too)   haha

Well, of course it is not comfortable to know that your funds can disappear any time. You wanna bet that some people will say:

"neah, it cannot happen to me"  EVEN so there are many hacking reports daily.

Only few people knew about this exploit. Now, any russian or ukrainian kid will try to hack the cold storages and guess what?! THEY WILL DO IT !    Grin
2008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht faces a potential life sentence starting tomorrow. on: January 16, 2015, 03:27:39 AM

it is a bullshit. Ross Ulbricht owned Silk Road. FBI will bring the evidence next weeks. You will see. Smiley

Karpeles remains a thief and money launderer as most of the Bitcoin exchangers
2009  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you make money from the falling bitcoin price yesterday on: January 16, 2015, 03:25:14 AM
I sure did. That was exciting. Grin

hey, but is it not the bitcoiners philosophy to use Bitcoin as currency only without any speculation?
Huh No, it is not. That sounds like a rather poorly conceived philosophy in any case, as a currency needs speculators to provide liquidity.

tell that to the hordes who sustain something else Smiley
you can find tons of post with "Bitcoin is not for speculation"
2010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Karpeles the real DPR? on: January 16, 2015, 03:20:45 AM
Yea it is apparently true. DHS even went as far as to draft a warrant for his gmail accounts because they thought he was DPR.

they thought....but they made a mistake and they got the real drug dealer Smiley
I don't think Ross is even accused of actually selling drugs. The only "deal" that I am aware of is the one that he facilitated to the guy in MD that ended up getting caught. He is however being charged as a drug kingpin

and few fake passports

it's so funny when I see so much hypocrisy.  Cheesy
2012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much Bitcoin do you think you would need to hold to become a millionaire? on: January 16, 2015, 02:16:22 AM
if we are going to put usd value to bitcoin how much do you think you would need to hold in btc to become a millionaire in the next 5 years?

go to work first and then you can dream.

if you rely your life  on Bitcoin....pffff  LOL
2013  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.io Halts Cloud Mining Service Due to Low Bitcoin Price on: January 16, 2015, 02:07:36 AM
If its all based on all low price, do you think all of the clouding sites are going to halt?

almost all of them will stop mining. it will remain the chinesse Smiley
2014  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 【LakeBTC.com】Bitcoin Exchange on: January 16, 2015, 02:03:19 AM
LakeBTC had a large amount in Egopay which is hacked. They lost a lot of money with them
you mean that egopy was hacked but the loss is in lakebtc?

Yes, Egopay's owners disappeared with all the money. I guess there were hacked, they realized that the whole is too huge and gone.

The bitcoin merchants like Bitfinex, Lake BTC, Huobi and others have lost millions.

These are facts not rumors.

http://www.money-monitor.com/article/view/slug/egopay-turned-to-scam-or-hacked

Also, one of their exchangers, Payeer, came to public and saying that they are short with 200K.

So, Egopay is dead for good.
such a big thing, why do I not see the news form regular media?

because the so called e-currency media is not interested to put on the wall another merchant failure. they have different interests ... Smiley

BUT they wasn't able to cover the shit anymore today. Egopay is dead since a week ago but they only "revealead" today :

2015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less money stolen from Bitstamp than originally told on: January 16, 2015, 01:05:32 AM
I wonder what they really ended up with when the coins are all sold. Maybe they'll make a thread and tell us tomorrow. lol
It doesn't matter what the value of the bitcoin is when they are sold by the hacker(s). All that matters to bitstamp is the cost to them to repurchase the 18k BTC to replenish their reserves

they didn't buy any bitcoin. they used from what they had from their clients Smiley

2016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht faces a potential life sentence starting tomorrow. on: January 16, 2015, 01:03:15 AM
Silk Road stunner: Ulbricht admits founding the site, but says he isn’t DPR - http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/01/ulbricht-admits-he-founded-silk-road-but-says-he-isnt-dread-pirate-roberts/ .

Smiley

EDIT: Government has to look good. They have to look useful. And that is besides all the money they stand to rake in. So they'll frame anybody they can.

Good joke... "Ulbricht admits founding the site, but says he isn’t DPR" hahaha
2017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners are killing bitcoin on: January 16, 2015, 12:57:50 AM
miners will start "mining" Altcoin Smiley

2019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox CEO Mark Karpeles Implicated in Silk Road Trial on: January 16, 2015, 12:29:02 AM
Most of the big exchangers are the same. That's why they will be closed. The ones from USA like BitPay and Coinbase very soon.
So do you know Tony? He's a great guy and a savvy businessman. And have you been out to SF to see Coinbase. Great location huh?
Now why would these successful companies close? They have tens of thousands of happy customers.
Because they are ALL outlaw. they are not MSB as it is required.
I mean, other "stupids" must be registered as MSB by paying bonds, taxes, audits, waiting for months to get the license and some "smart and great guys" like this "Tony", NOT.
According to the FINCEN:
" a person that creates units of convertible virtual currency and sells those units to another person for real currency or its equivalent is engaged in transmission to another location and is a money transmitter. In addition, a person is an exchanger and a money transmitter if the person accepts such de-centralized convertible virtual currency from one person and transmits it to another person as part of the acceptance and transfer of currency, funds, or other value that substitutes for currency."
It's just a matter of time until all the so called exchangers will be closed.
SilkRoad had thousands of happy customers too. Does it matter? They are behind the bars now.
Do you remember Bitinstant? Bitinstant owner (Charlie Shrem ) pleads guilty to operating unlicensed money transmitting business. Do you want more examples?
What is the difference between BitInstant and Coinbase, Bitpay, Kraken? NONE !

Coinbase follows KYC rules of being a money transmitter whether it applies to them or not.  Bitinstant made the mistake of linking to silkroad.  You ask whats the difference?  Evidently alot which includes a court case and jail time.

Being licensed means that you, as company is supervised by a gov authority. You have to respect MANY aspects as being financial institution.

You can have as many KYC rules you want. If you are NOT licensed as MSB, you  will be arrested sooner or later.

There XXXX examples of people who received jail sentence for Unlicensed Money Transmitters.

BUT being MSB, you cannot deal with anonymous systems/transactions like Bitcoin. This is the law.

Remember, Bitinstant owner, Bitcoin Foundation's member (Charlie Shrem ) was arrested and HE pleads guilty to operating unlicensed money transmitting business. He will be in jail for 2 years.

How is Coinbase, Kraken or Bitstamp different than Bitinstant? There are NOT so they are facing the same faith.
