P2Pool release 0.8.6 - tag: 0.8.6

Windows py2exe binary: http://u.forre.st/u/szpnzcpo/p2pool_win32_d222f8d.zip
Source tarball: https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool/tarball/0.8.6

Changes:
* IRC announcer doesn't spam as much
* Some possible bugs in sharechain ranking have been fixed, so forks may be prevented
* Outgoing connections are constrained to one per /16, making Sybil attacks harder

Note: I would recommend switching to Bitcoin 0.6.0 RC 1, which includes the RPC getblock call. The getblock call lets P2Pool keep track of block heights more robustly, and so might protect you from sharechain forks. Download it from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=63165.0

Frizz23 and anyone else having problems with apparent forks, upgrade to this and follow the above advice.

AWESOME FORRESTV!!

Can't wait to forget about payout variance...

Lets make more lobby in favor of P2Pool! We need to reach 600-800GHash ASAP!  Tongue

Cheers!

1402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thread about GPU-mining and Litecoin on: February 17, 2012, 08:40:05 PM
@Coblee

There's no GPU miner for LTC and they know it. Nothing more than FUD and if Ahimoth wants to throw his reputation on a grenade for Coinhunter then so be it.

Think about it, as bad as Coinhunter despises you  and envies Litecoin, do you think for a second he would sit on a GPU miner that would devestate it? Not a chance.

~BCX~

I've talked to mtrlt about. CoinHunter doesn't control him. And he's in it just for profit. He's making more money with his GPUs mining litecoin than bitcoin. So he won't release it without being compensated somehow.

It's true that this could all be FUD, but I respect Ahimoth enough to believe that he wouldn't be lying about this just to spread FUD.

Ahimoth has every reason in the world to help spread the FUD and hurt Litecoin.

Ahimoth is the one who made the statement he can post a video of it, so I'm calling him out on it.

~BCX~

Yes, he needs to post some proof... Otherwise this is just the most recent scam from CH... That jerk.

Don't give up of Litecoin!!
Everybody wants to see for sure that GPU-mining for Litecoins is a reality and efficient...
1404  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Public P2Pool, how? on: February 17, 2012, 06:29:13 AM
Surely it will be almost trivially simple to start a p2paltpool, a p2paltpool2 and so on from time to time as needed to keep each p2pool network within reasonably nice share-difficulty range?

Right. I think a p2pool size of 200-300 GH/s is about right. On average that's 3-4 blocks found per day at the current Bitcoin difficulty level. That's smooth enough variance for someone with a single GPU. If the current p2pool starts reaching 400 GH/s, we should plan on splitting it in half.

I prefer a pool with minimal of 600GHash at the current difficulty level... So, 600-800GHash would be a good point to split...

Sometimes with 200-300GHash we spend almost 24H without earning nothing...  Sad

like today? Sad

god variance can be frustrating

Precisely.

This is why I think the optimal solution would be p2pool forming a backbone network to connect pools, large farms, and sub-p2pools.

Then any number of sub-p2pools could form.  Some with lower difficulty (for smaller miners), some with higher difficulty/hash rate for larger miners.

We just need to implement it! LOL

Tem o IRC, canal bitcoin-otc, server freenode...
Ou ofertar uma compra aqui mesmo...  Wink
O meu site, http://cambiodebitcoins.com.br/ está meio paradão... Mas estou montando uma outra versão de exchange...
1408  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: CGMiner Ubuntu 11.10 tutorial on: February 15, 2012, 08:43:54 PM
Works great for me this config:

- Ubuntu 11.10 64 bits
- Catalyst 11.6
- SDK v2.4
- CGMiner 2.2.4 - compiled

How you install Catalyst 11.6 in your Ubuntu 11.10?!

Here, I'm unable to compile the kernel module, the command option "--buildpkg Ubuntu/oneiric" of it does not complete.

I mean, the deb package can be built but, the fglrx does not install...

I'll try it and report the error log here soon...

O que me preocupa é a taxação quando chegar no Brasil

Temos que evitá-la, não pagá-la de JEITO NENHUM.

We jave just reached 300GHASH/S

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That's because I just joined this morning.  Cool

WELCOME!!!  Cheesy
1411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin daemon is a godzilla in memory consumption and very slow... Why?! on: February 15, 2012, 07:14:34 AM
LOL

I install it again in another machine and all seems to work now but, that Litecoin is still very slow...

I complete guess that there is some problem with libdb...

My machine with slow Litecoin have libdb from "Ubuntu repository" and, my machine with fast Litecoin have those packages (libdb) from "Ubuntu PPA Bitcoin"... For example, my Litecoin P2Pool node is fast!

This is a complete guess and I was unable to reproduce it (no time)...

Thanks!
Thiago

1413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RELEASE] Liquidcoin (Speculation based) on: February 14, 2012, 05:57:31 PM
Also, it does not work well... listtransactions command does not work... the blockchain download stops at 1000... It is almost useless...
1414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RELEASE] Liquidcoin (Speculation based) on: February 14, 2012, 05:56:16 PM
Can Liquidcoin be merged-mined iwth other coins that use the same cpu-friendly hashing algorithm?

If so, is there a chain-ID number we need to know to set up merged mining?

Also, has anyone started using p2pool with it yet?

-MarkM-

No, it does not support merged mining... I just try that...

There is Tenebrix and Faibrix based on Scrypt but, all are dead by now...

1416  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Mais uma exchange comprometida: BTC-e on: February 14, 2012, 05:27:16 PM
O que mais me chama a atenção é o fato do Paxum suspender todas as contas dos exchangers e, o tradehill também acabou...

De qualquer forma, é bom porque isso vai alavancar os trader P2P.
1417  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: List of bots? on: February 14, 2012, 04:35:03 PM
Made some adjustments, now starting to make some money!  Up 5% overnight, during the downturn from $5.00 to $4.50.  Suppose that means the bot is doing its job!

Where can I download a bot?

Tks,
Thiago

I think someone already took sight at MtGox due its overwhelming volume.

Dude, the war on Bitcoin started months ago if not years.

Most of us are on the front lines already

The next battle has begun...

I see that the only solution is #WorldRevolution!! LOL

Well, I think it is time to develop / improve P2P exchanges.

Any centralization is bad...
