1741  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMiner 2.1.1 binary + Ubuntu 11.10 64 bits + Catalyst ? on: January 19, 2012, 01:42:47 AM
GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1 worked for me! Cheers!

Not for me...  Sad

FINALYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

The option "GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1" drops the CPU consumption of CGminer from +100% to 3~5%!!!

AWESOME!!!

Time to upgrade all my mining rigs!!  Tongue

There is no need for SDK with Catalyst 11.12 and CGMiner 2.1.2 binary!!  ^_^

Ubuntu 11.10 64 bits + Catalyst 11.12 + CGMiner 2.1.2 = crap... 100% usage...

I noted that with Catalyst 11.12 it is not necessary to install SDK. Right?!

I'm currently using 11.6 with APP SDK 2.4 on Ubuntu 11.10 32 bit with no issues.

AMD made it sound like they fixed the issue in 11.12 though (I know it fixed the CPU bug on my 2 Windows boxes anyways):
http://developer.amd.com/sdks/amdappsdk/assets/AMD_APP_SDK_Release_Notes_Developer.pdf

Also, if none of this works, try using "export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1".

It is impossible to compile fglx kernel module from Catalyst 11.6 on top of Linux 3.0 that come with Ubuntu 11.10. At least at the 64 bits version. The kernel module does not compile.

I do not have any 32 bits systems...

I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 again, at my mining rig with 2x5870, with Catalyst 11.9 and sdk v2.4... CGMiner consumes 100% of CPU, but the mining is running at my GPU, of course...

I would LOVE to know what combo ckolivas is using at his mining rig. He tells only that the cgminer binary is for Ubuntu 11.10 but, he does not tell us what Catalyst / SDK to use.   Cry

My stable combo is Ubuntu 11.04 / Catalyst 11.6 / SDK v2.4 / CGMiner 2.1.2 binary dist with some workarounds.

I'm desperate to upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10.

I'll try next time with Catalyst 11.12 and SDK v2.6... Anyone already tried this combo?!

Thanks!
Thiago

Bom,

Abx!

Money come from address X, and go out using address Y... With Bitcoin 0.4 this is possible, right?!
You just need to change "Your Bitcoin Address" field...
Increasing anonymity...

1755  Economy / Currency exchange / Buying Bitcoins with a international credit card, how? on: January 15, 2012, 06:06:53 AM
Guys,

How to buy Bitcoins using my international credit card?

Without put me in risk, of course.

PayPal protects my card number but, it is reversible, we don't like it, I know, it sucks a lot... Anyway, I'll never cancel a PP transaction.

Thanks!

Guys,

I need 250 BTC right now.

 I repay within 3~5 days, U$1890.00.

I'm adding a few extra bucks to cover some PayPal fees.

I prefer to deal with one or two (max 3) at a time... To not mess up with our accounts.

1757  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Intersango- new bank account, iceberg, GTC/FOK/IOC orders and site updates on: January 14, 2012, 07:47:09 AM

Hate to be proved correct, but looks like I was only a week out on my estimate....

Intersango seem to be unable to accept GBP payments at the moment.

I think you should assume that your Lloyds account will not last long. 1-2 months I would guess. The Branch Manager may like you as helps them hit their target for new small business accounts, but as soon as the info gets up to the Risk Management / Compliance / Money Laundering / Head Office you will be out.

You should open a few other accounts as contingencies. Maybe try http://www.bocukltd.co.uk/ or some other odd banks as none are going to be your friend.

Or maybe try some offshore accounts.

Not wanting to be a troll, and have used you to buy £150 of btc's (just in time!), but the reputational risk for the bank is significant (hit-man paid in bitcoins extracts cash through Lloyds account etc...) and the income you will generate for them will be small (relative to billion+ profits).

Good Luck - I think this is the one area that is going to be very hard for bitcoin.

I think we should all move to a new approach, a new software/site, based on something like Dark-Exchange integrated with Bitcoin-OTC integrated with Bitcoin Client integrated with some social network, maybe Diaspora.

So, everybody will be able to buy/sell Bitcoins and use their own bank accounts. Ending the problem of exchangers being unable to work with banks after some time.

How long will take for U.S. gov try to take down the Bitcoin traders (a.k.a. MtGox/TradeHill/CryptoXchange)?

We need a easy way to bring regular people to the trading environment. People as mini-mtgoxes around the world...

Cheers,
Thiago
