1421  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Open source trading bot? on: February 14, 2012, 03:10:09 PM

This is for Linux?!

Thanks!
1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RELEASE] Liquidcoin (Speculation based) on: February 14, 2012, 03:04:33 PM
I had the same problem with the block count stopping at 1000.. At this point the client would download blocks, reject them, "REORGANIZE" (whatever that means) and try to download more.  After sever attempts of deleting the database and retrying I gave up and ended up copying the database files from a windows PCs which was working fine over to the linux box.  It's been working flawlessly since.

Edit:  I zipped up the chain from my windows box if you want to download and try it.  I remember you saying somewhere that you don't run windows.  Add your own wallet.dat and liquidcoin.conf files.

Thanks!
This problem does not occur with Windows version?!   Shocked
1423  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Is Deepbit down? on: February 14, 2012, 02:56:07 PM
Dear Sirs,

Am I completely mistaken, or is Deepbit truely down?  Huh
Please verify, I do not want to spread false alarm!

Come to P2Pool...   Wink
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [RELEASE] Liquidcoin (Speculation based) on: February 14, 2012, 01:29:00 PM
Hi!

 Is Liquidcoin alive?!

Where is the latest source code URL of it?

Thanks!
Thiago

Yes - it's still alive. Mining and exchanging at vircurex.com is working well.
Binaries and sources can be downloaded from the first page of this thread.

Okay... But, why is this happening with my Liquidcoind?:

1- Blockchain stops at 1000 and don't go forward...
Code:
~/Liquidcoin/src/liquidcoind getblockcount
1000

1.1- There is some connections:
Code:
~/Liquidcoin/src/liquidcoind getconnectioncount
7

2- Command listtransactions doesn't work:
Code:
~/Liquidcoin/src/liquidcoind listtransactions
error: {"code":-2,"message":"Safe mode: WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct!  You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade."}

Thanks!
Thiago
1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where is i0coin / ixcoin? on: February 14, 2012, 01:00:58 PM
I0coin:
 git clone git://github.com/kr105rlz/i0coin.git
This is ancient. See tiker's response for the correct location.

doublec,

Can you help me... My i0coin daemon dies after a few hours... My ~/.i0coin/debug.log shows:

Code:
EXCEPTION: N5boost16exception_detail10clone_implINS0_19error_info_injectorINS_6system12system_errorEEEEE
Host not found (authoritative)
i0coin in ThreadOpenConnections()

 What can be?!

Thanks!
Thiago
1426  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Public P2Pool, how? on: February 14, 2012, 08:21:49 AM
Okay!

Thank you for your support thirdlight! I'll do it!

But, I want to complicate this a little bit... lol

How can the miners of my P2Pool node receive the benefits of Merged Mining?!

Because the P2Pool node that I'll provide will have merged mining enabled but, since the miners will use its own bitcoin address as a login to use P2Pool, how they can get the other coins?!

Or, do I need to wait until P2Pool have full support for merged mining within it (instead solo-mining)?

Thanks!
Thiago
1427  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [masterpool.eu] DISCONTINUED - shut down at the end of February on: February 14, 2012, 06:45:23 AM
Hate to see another pool go down, but I hope you encourage all your users to join another of the smaller pools or P2Pool.  I would hate to see any of that hashing power go to one of the "Big Three".

+10 to join P2Pool...  Roll Eyes
1428  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Public P2Pool, how? on: February 14, 2012, 06:33:25 AM
Posting that here again: You are planning to centralize P2Pool?

Wasn't its main advantage over traditional pools that P2Pool was decentralized?

Again... No, you didn't get the idea.
I want to help.

Public P2Pool, how?!

Guys, I would like to setup a Public P2Pool for anyone that doesn't have knowledge / time to setup its own P2Pool node...

How can I do it?!

Thanks!
Thiago

So in other words, you want to centralize P2Pool?

Are you kidding me?

No, you didn't get the idea.
I want to help.
1430  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: CGMiner Ubuntu 11.10 tutorial on: February 14, 2012, 05:54:24 AM
in 11.12 catalyst is the 2.6 sdk, change it to 2.5 or lower and it should work fine.

I'll try it!
1431  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [230GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 14, 2012, 05:32:23 AM
Can you plote the same image but for Litecoin P2Pool?!

I have successfully avoided knowing anything about Litecoin, so unfortunatly, I can't.

Okay... Thanks anyway...
Nevertheless, this would be good to the P2Pool development... We can use Litecoin P2Pool to improve Bitcoin P2Pool...  Wink
1432  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Public P2Pool, how? on: February 14, 2012, 05:15:21 AM
If you simply run a P2Pool node, miners can connect to it over port 9332 with their username as their bitcoin address and mine to their address. Several people have already done this (p2poolparty being one of them, my node @ p2pool.forre.st being another). Nothing complex and no programming is required.

WOW! Sounds very easy!
Thanks!
1433  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [230GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 14, 2012, 05:12:20 AM
1- WHEN the P2Pool difficulty will be bad for small miners? When we reaches 1THash, 2THash, 4THash?!

Much sooner than that.  Some might say it is already bad for small miners.  But I suppose it depends on what you consider "bad for small miners"?  If it takes a typical miner several hours to find a share, that is going to lead to painful variance.

I made a chart to illustrate what happens as the pool gets larger.  The chart is based on an overall bitcoin difficulty of 1.4 million (approx what we are now and will be for the next round).

Here is what the chart shows:

  • The solid red line is the average time for the pool to find a block as the pool's hashrate grows.
  • The dotted lines are the average time for miners of various sizes to find a SHARE as the pool's size increases and the share difficulty increases with it.
  • The point where a dotted line crosses the solid red line is the point at which the average time for a miner to find a share becomes larger than the time for the pool to find a block.

...Image removed from quote...

twmz,

Can you plote the same image but for Litecoin P2Pool?!

So we can know when Litecoin P2Pool will be "bad" for small miners too...

 Thank you BTW!

Best,
Thiago

Guys,

I would like to setup a Public P2Pool for anyone that doesn't have knowledge / time to setup its own P2Pool node...

How can I do it?! I mean, how people can use my P2Pool node and receive the payment on his own Bitcoin Address, not giving hashpower to me, of course...

Also, I would like to give people the possibility of merged mining too...

Thanks!
Thiago

honestly a better option might be to setup a p2pool vm service, where people pay .05 btc a month to mine, and you set them up with a p2pool ubuntu vm or something, all configured.. its not like p2pool requires any guts to run right?

You read my mind.

I can provide this service... But 0.05 BTC a month isn't enough... Maybe I can setup a little fee at P2Pool node that I manage.

You think that there is a market for "P2Pool Private Hosting Service"?!

Thanks!
Thiago
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: A Complete Guide to P2Pool - For Ubuntu Linux... (for both Bitcoin and Litecoin) on: February 14, 2012, 04:45:13 AM
In an attempt to expand my horizons, I've installed Ubuntu on a partition of my laptop...
Are you using a graphical desktop on Ubuntu? If so, just right click in the .bitcoin folder & choose "New File" or whatever. There'll be a text editor nearby too (I'm not near a "proper" computer at the moment, so going from memory).

In the "Administration" menu, there's a graphical installer thing, probably called something like "Add software" - used to be "Synaptic package manager", but that changed recently.

If you're not using a graphical desktop, I recommend "nano" as a text editor - much less arcane than vi (ok, & less powerful etc, but we're only making a simple conf file here..).

I use apt-get, always have. I haven't found a compelling reason not to, haven't looked for one though...

The graphical installer is called "Ubuntu Software Center"...

I upgrade the guide to make use of "nano" editor, instead of "vi".

I use aptitude, because it is the apt-get evolution... If you don't have it, install it by typing:

sudo apt-get install aptitude

Best!

I just add the info about merged mining using I0Coin too!

Cheers!
