Upgrading P2Pool node...

Guys, when is the best time to upgrade P2Pool node?

I mean, is there any announcements of new P2Pool versions?! If yes, where?!

Now I have:

Code:
~/p2pool/run_p2pool.py --version
becb233

But, is this the version you guys are using?!

Thanks!
Thiago

There are rumors of people GPU mining litecoins with fairly decent results. But they're keeping the miner under wraps  Huh

Stay away from @CoinHunter.
He is a famous liar. The biggest!

Thiago:

are the steps the same to create a litecoin.conf?

I keep getting message: Error: To use litecoind, you must set rpcpassword=<password>
in the configuration file: /home/***/.litecoin/litecoin.conf

 Sad

What is the output of the command:

ls -l ~/.litecoin/litecoin.conf

Then, type:

cat ~/.litecoin/litecoin.conf

Can you see the rpcpassword line here?
1526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 11, 2012, 03:36:25 AM
Recently one of our developers mtrlt spent about 4 hours adding scrypt support to Reaper, the SolidCoin GPU miner.

http://solidcointalk.org/topic/545-litecoin-scrypt-gpu-miner/

It currently gets ~250KH/s on a 6990 . This is after only 4 hours of optimization. Is it possible the "botnet" or "darkpool" mining Litecoin is actually artforz and coblee who have been mining LiteCoin using an unfair advantage since the start? Conning litecoin users into thinking it's a CPU mining chain when in fact the GPU dominates it?

Artforz is on the record as saying his GPU miner of scrypt only got 9KH/s on a 6870 GPU. Something suspicious here when our developer can get massive improvements over CPU with only 4 hours of effort. Either artforz is terrible at creating GPU miners or he lied to litecoin users.

I vote to BAN this little kid.

Ôôhh CARA CHATO!!
1527  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 10, 2012, 07:57:41 PM
This fact that is not possibile to tell exactly what was found and when is a big problem, IMHO, which could stop miners from switching to p2pool.

+1

p2pool claims to be totally transparent. Users having full control (as in opposite to big mining pools).

Yet we don't even know for sure when / what was found.

Here's a great command to list found blocks:
Code:
bitcoind listtransactions

I've been playing around with making a p2pool recent stats page.  It's not done yet, and the backend needs a lot of work, but it's done enough to give you an idea:

http://btcstats.net/p2pool/

  • Includes Recent pool hash rate and stale rate
  • Recent blocks are shown on the chart as vertical lines so that you can "see" variance
  • Recent blocks are also listed in a table with links to the details

Very nice twmz,

do you know whether blocks found but later rejected by bitcoin network can be listed?

spiccioli

You mean, "Invalid Blocks"?

so to clarify, the main consequence of the bug was that a block reward could become lost forever?

still... turning 100 BTC into 50 is less serious of a bug than being able to turn 50 BTC into 100 Cheesy

Well, I think that ANY overwrite is serious...

But you got a point!
1534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in danger!? Received <Sent!?! on: February 10, 2012, 05:20:43 AM
Do you lose the original if it isn't spent when you make the new identical one? Because when you spend either now it'll be marked as spent?

Right. This has happened a few times on the main network, actually. Not sure if anyone realized until recently that it was possible to spend both, though.

Shocked

Anyway, now this guys will solve a bug!

Acredito que:

cd litecoin_scrypt
C:\Python27\python.exe setup.py build --compile=mingw32 install

Não deu certo este comando aqui?!

Just a last minute update...

Hi fellas!

I would like to promote the P2Pool!!

During 30 days, I'll donate a small amount almost everyday to the P2Pool miners!

NOTE: For both Litecoin and Bitcoin P2Pool miners (at a random time during day).

 For the Bitcoin P2Pool miners:

 * In the period 10/02/2012 until 17/03/2012 I'll give 1.5 BTC / day;

 For the Litecoin P2Pool miners:

 * In the period 10/02/2012 until 10/03/2012 I'll give 200 LTC / day;

My idea is to promote P2Pool technology and its miners...

If you have any interest and don't know how to join P2Pool, please, read my guide here:

A Complete Guide to P2Pool - For Ubuntu Linux...:

When I wake up I will have received a little more coin then usual. Feels good man

Oh and look!

Code:
2012-02-09 22:43:39.875000  Pool: 1006kH/s Stale rate: 12.5% Average time between blocks: 0.07 days

Marvelous.

Just a great fucking day, pool gen is up, LTC price rose 20-30%, and I recieved .45BTC from mining 14 hours alone at 260MHash/s.
