421  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please stay away from Sherbet casino, they are scammers (They scammed my $119) on: February 27, 2024, 02:18:57 PM
Thank you for the call on Telegram, I really do appreciate you Sir.

No problem, it's great that you were able to remove it quite fastly!

Wow! Your standards might be super high for an online casino while Binance is more trusted and established service in crypto which the OP accepted. If this kind of simple KYC is very tough to verify on your casino then playing in there is a red flag.
--snip--

Without wishing to take anyone's side, I can say that it's probably the same KYC provider for Binance and Sherbet. Depending on the market, there aren't many of them, so it depends on the quality of the photos you are going to take during the process (light, clearness, are the 4 corners of the doc visible etc...) and, if in case of doubt/red flag, it depends of the agent who manually reviews the documents. Where the human is, the mistake is possible. That's why sometimes a document accepted by X company will be refused by Y company, even if the doc is the same, and even if the KYC provider is the same.

In the past, I myself have been a Risk agent for some companies in the crypto world (not on the Nigerian market, but for EMEA/APAC markets), and I can confirm that most of the sites that ask for KYC use the same providers (for example, in Europe, Jumio, IDnow etc...etc...). My job was to review the feedback from the KYC provider, and to manualy check the documents if necessary.
It's case by case, but an agent's job is to protect his company from potential sanctions (related to AML, CTF, regulations etc..etc...), while avoiding mistakes to avoid to lose customers/users.
If the provider continusly consider the document fake or not legit for any reason, in general the company won't take any risk. Would you, as a regulated company, take the risk of a massive fine if you have suspicions? Some may make mistakes, others may be excessive, but if OP insists and actually has legit documents, I have no doubt that he will be able to recover his account. I can't imagine an online casino scamming someone out of 120 usd, when they're OK with everyone else (for now at least).
422  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please stay away from Sherbet casino, they are scammers (They scammed my $119) on: February 27, 2024, 01:45:34 PM
Trying to call OP, to inform him that he should delete it quickly, via Telegram

If they give you another chance to perform KYC, may I suggest you to take the picture of your ID on a very contrast background, like a black fabric, preferrably with the edge of the card visible to highlight that it is a physical card and not a piece of print-out. If they allow it, you can perhaps show your hands holding it, pinched by the edge with your fingers
Okay, so in regards to this, here below is a picture of myself holding the ID Card as requested by you, but due to privacy I decided to cover my face and other parts of the document for security reason best known to me

OP, please immediately remove the images of your ID and contact joker_josue for image removal from talkimg's server. The QR code is scan-able. For reference, one of the image provided by OP is as below [I altered it by covering the QR code, my edit is made in blue]

I actually suggested [not requesting] you to upload with such manner into their KYC page if they give you another chance, not here. But, image above should [IMO] be enough to prove that it is not a print-out photo of the ID, the shadows indicate that the object has quite a depth that should not be casted by a piece of thin paper.

Note: I am respecting OP's privacy. As such, I did not keep the original image, deleting it from my device right away after I edited it for above purpose.

- ETH : https://etherscan.io/
- BSC : https://bscscan.com/

I sincerely hope theymos will read this and consider it.
There's a much better chance of that if this would be posted in Moving to Cloudflare.

Thank you for the link.
I've posted a quote from OP's message, with the hope that it might lead to something...

This topic is inactive for almost a year now, sorry to necrobump it  Roll Eyes

Just in case theymos missed the following message:

I have however decided to use a residential proxy on top of my setup to access this forum from now. Hopefully theymos will consider some better alternative to Cloudflare within next years or at least could re-configure the current Cloudflare settings to facilitate access to users with complex Tor setups. We are also ready to provide technical assistance in Cloudflare-less DDoS protection setup if it's the case.

428  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is this post dense enough? on: February 27, 2024, 10:21:18 AM
You were not censored, even a mod already explained it to you:

First of all, this post is offtopic. What does your link to the file describing "Clans of Ukraine: Analyzing Links Between Key Groups of the Ukrainian Oligarchy and European and U.S. Families and Institutions" have to do with the theme of the topic where you posted your post (Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress])? Secondly, posts containing one link, without any comments, are considered low quality posts and can be deleted, according to p. 1 of the forum rules.

Why being so sensible? Why the need to create this topic?

just to know the opinions of the CIA censors... in relation to this one : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5485532.msg63680759#msg63680759

429  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Product feedback for new Hardcore Wallet on: February 27, 2024, 10:02:25 AM
We want bitcoin to be easy to use for anyone.  Turn it on, create a password, save your seed phrase and send and receive Bitcoin. Setting up a node is a huge barrier to entry for your average person. Most people don't understand any of the fundamentals of Bitcoin let alone the economic reason for it. Then they need the technical ability to set up the node.  None of this is reasonable for the average person. The goal is to make truly peer-to-peer, decentralized Bitcoin easy for anyone at a reasonable price.  Our current retail price estimate is between $300 and $350 US or just a little more that a high end hardware wallet.

In addition, because the device has a battery and an RJ45 port it can be used in many ways. To name a few, as a home node accessed remotely with an app like Fully Noded, Take it with you to transact in bitcoin,  Use it as a Business POS...
You can do all of this with the only device designed to transact in Bitcoin the way it was intended and it is so easy to use.

Thank you for the details, I have now a better picture of your project. Adding a RJ45 port is a good idea, many of us does not want to rely on wireless network.

Your project reminds me Apollo BTC miner, which is often used as a solo minig ASIC with an integrated desktop, sort of "plug and play" node with an ASIC chip integrated.
https://shop.futurebit.io/products/pre-order-apollo-btc-a-bitcoin-asic-miner-and-desktop-class-computer-running-a-full-node-and-much-more-batch-1-ships-in-late-april-to-may

Quote
We have iterated and learned much from our first Apollo product. We realized early on that we focused too much on the mining aspect, and not enough on the software, applications, and services that run Bitcoin. Too many of these services have moved to online centralized websites, and many users have given up on running the core software that powers Bitcoin.

I wish you the same success as Apollo once you'll be full ready  Smiley

Ouais c'est impressionnant :

Il a presque doublé en 200 jours, BTC est donc bien en forme à l'approche du halving.

Thank you for your answer.

With regard to source code.  The device is still in prototype mode so there is no production code to share yet.

Ok, as you used "yet" I imagine you plan to do it open source, right?

Yes, to run the full node the device has to sync the entire blockchain. Our plan is to sync the devices before shipping unless the customer would like to sync the device when they receive it.

I see, but what would be the benefit to use it instead of simply running Bitcoin Core installed on a Rpi+SSD?

435  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Product feedback for new Hardcore Wallet on: February 26, 2024, 11:16:24 PM
dkbit98 thank you for the feedback.  Great question!

I wanted something to do peer-to-peer transactions.

The Bitcoin white paper's first sentence: "a purely peer-to-peer form of electronic cash".

If you use a hardware wallet or any other wallet that is not using your own node then you are doing a three party transaction.  Any third party transaction is not permissionless nor is it free.  There is always a cost to use a node someone else is hosting.

The Epiphany is Bitcoin as it was intended - peer-to-peer.

This may seem like a small thing but I contend that it is not small.  It is the core of Bitcoin's purpose - Provide people with a way to exchange peer-to-peer without having to trust anyone. If we allow third parties in our transactions we are creating an electronic version of the banking system we already have.

The Epiphany is designed to appeal to people who want the freedom and sovereignty that Bitcoin can offer if used properly.

So are you saying that users of your wallet must download the whole blockchain in order to run a full node?  Grin

You didn't answer, what is the source code? Any Github to share with us?

Why?

His feedback is useful. Personnaly I would never trade with someone selling tBTC, so I am not against a neutral stating it.
440  Other / Meta / Re: A simpler version of demerits: "dmerits" for every X merits earned on: February 26, 2024, 08:53:06 PM
Why this sudden collective interest for a demerit function?

I don't see why, is it because of the airdroped merits? even those who have a majority of airdropped merits don't bother anyone either. We can all already see who has earned merits and in what proportion on Bpip or with the web extension, this is not misleading for anyone (I mean campaign managers etc..) ; for example with OP:

As for the others, apart from airdropped merits, I'm not such a hater myself lol. So, no real need for demerit imo.

In any case, for the moment the result of the poll look pretty clear:
