I find the idea very interesting, a bit like the bot that lets you tip sats on r/Bitcoin.
However, aren't you afraid that this will lead to a form of abuse on the forum (spam, the race to be on the first page of a new topic etc.)? This already exists, but wouldn't such a feature make things worse?
And aren't these just parallel merits? We all already have the option of putting a BTC address on our profile, wouldn't it be easier to add a LN profile-box for potential tips (if fees remain high on-chain)? That would solve the custody problem.

Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] GekkoScience Terminus R909 home miner

I love small home mining ASICs, and Gekkoscience's products have nothing but quality. They are stable and reliable, I still love my old R606s that are still running solo. I even added 2 last year. I'm hoping to finally add one or more R909s to my collection this year! Thanks for the review! The only thing that surprised me is the noise of the fan: (if we're only talking about home mining) I've been only bothered by the noise of the PSU on my Antminer R4s for now, but never by such a small fan (R606 or external fans I use for the Compacs et Newpacs usb). I am very curious to see what it sounds like IRL. I agree with your point of view on the kano pool, which I think is the only real solution for home miners who want a payout other than solo. (Sad that mmpool exit-scammed) There is a good new alternative using ck solo pool managed by Willi: Solo Pool Miner Race

Only 16,108 blocks left, before the next BTC halving.
I am very curious to see what will be the post-halving difficulty... I wonder if it will drop significantly or if we will have a crazy difficulty like >100T this year

There are profiles where I can see the alts in cointracking (LoyceV, libert19 or yours), but others are empty (Vispilio, xSkylarx or mine for example). But maybe you didn't fill them all. I just tested with current prices (@17h10) and my formulas give me 1012$ for Vispilio.
Thank you! Indeed, I forgot to update some profiles after putting on all the numbers. Now everything should be fine. I have still some issues with the links for Vispilio, and Woodie, but I am working on itAll links are working fine now. Still a strange total amount for Vispilio, but as long as you have the right number, it's fine. I guess Cointracking does not take the good rate for BLACK. Everything else is ok.

For the sake of bitcoin, let's hope not. Because if that happens, bitcoin adoption will be more difficult. Few merchants will accept paying this level of fees to receive payments. And if the coin stops being moved, it will lose value. Now, everything seems very nice and good for the miners, but in the medium term it is bad for everyone.
I understand your point of view perfectly, and I share it too. However, I'm starting to think more and more that maybe we don't really need more adoption, because I imagine that the current situation would become commonplace... For example, adoption = massive usage of CEXes = centralisation excess. For now, Binance already holds ~10% of the total supply, it could be worst with more adoption. Or what will happen with ETFs backed up by Coinbase? Or, if for example we multiply the number of users by 10 in the near future, wouldn't we be facing exactly the same problem as we are today with ordinals? Every time I ask these questions in my local section, I'm told that Lightning is the solution. But I refuse to use a sidechain at the moment, I'd rather use XMR than LN for example. I stopped considering BTC as a "imperfect P2P cash" for a while now, but I consider now BTC as a perfect P2P storage of value. (Sorry, that's a bit off topic!)

After the passing of the year, it seems that things are still calm. Maybe people are more busy with parties than looking at mining. Rates remain high +100sat/vB. Crazy times... For now, I consider transactions with 40/50 sat/vB as cheap transactions... I don't know what to think: on the one hand, I'm telling myself that it's going to end like it did in early 2023 (ordinals and inscriptions shit). On the other, I'm wondering whether these huge fees aren't becoming a new standard. At least it makes miners happy (those who don't make the mistake of mining in a pool that doesn't pay its fees to miners... In this case, it's a jackpot for these dishonest pools).
@philipma1957 will you open a 2024 diff thread or continue with this one?

Just a last bump before this topic going to be archived I wanted to thank OP, because as well as providing a reliable and honest service, he has offered the forum a lot through sponsorships, free raffles, articles, or even by proposing a stable signature campaign. I will of course continue to recommend you to people around me Good luck and see you soon

-snip- Bien sûr, il n'y a pas d'effet retro-actif. -snip-

I apologize for this, as I apologize as well for not anticipating the possible issue raised by cygan. Please bear in mind that this is my first free raffle though and have some understanding with me. I am sorry if I did not meet the standards of Collectibles board and all strategies. The main purpose was to offer the prizes. I did not calculate thoroughly all mathematical possible issues. You are doing great! I mean, we just need to re-roll each block which is > 50 and use the next one if we want to be fair, everything else is perfectly fine with this raffle imo

I guess since I did not state that in rules since the beginning it would be too late and not correct to do it now...
I personally don't mind much, but it's just unfair competition. The closer you are to 50, the more odds you have to win, statistically. The last participant (in terms of selected number) gets more than 50% chance to win, always. Yeah I agree. The best way to do it would be like krogoth do his weekly raffles : 100 spots and a determined date to close the applications, and chose the block number no matter if all spots are full or not. 1% for everyone applying
