1302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unfortunately, this problem is increasing yearly on: September 07, 2023, 06:06:02 PM
A lot of these problems would've been mitigated if only people used one-time codes from authenticator apps like Google Authenticator and Aegis; but unfortunately SMS 2FA is still the most user-friendly option out there. And again unfortunately, not every service supports one-time code 2FA — understandably so because of SMS-fa being far easier customer support-wise.

I agree, and if it's ever useful to anyone, it's good to know that there's a reliable open source alternative to Google Authenticator which is FreeOTP.

I've been using it for years and never had a single problem. I remember that a recent update of Google Authenticator gives users the option of saving their 2FA keys in the cloud, it's not mandatory but I think people should be carreful with this app. A mistake or mishandling can happen very quickly.

Hi. I have two maple leaf 24k gold coins 1/10th and 1/20th of ounce.

Selling two for 0.5 ETH or 0.038 BTC, free shipping using 1 day delivery service.

Where does the gold come from? Do you ship it from Europe, USA, Asia ?..

Also, do you accept the use of a well reputated forum escrow?
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is KYC mandatory in CEX? on: September 05, 2023, 11:23:30 AM
Privacy is important when it comes to Cryptocurrency, so why do exchanges like Bitget require KYC (Know Your Customer) for all users, even those who only want to get airdrops? I thought KYC should be for those transacting many Bitcoins, Is it really necessary for everyone?

It depends on the market (regulated or not) and on the country. In all cases, CEXs that impose KYC do so to comply with local regulations and thus protect themselves and their legal right to operate in the sector in question.  If not, there are other reasons imaginable: private data is worth money, and CEXs are there purely to make money. For example, Coinbase has been condemned in the past for participating in the resale of their customers' data.

If we follow your question to its logical conclusion, it would be better to ask why governments and regulators are so keen on KYC, than to ask why some CEXs apply laws and regulations.

I recommend you to read GazetaBitcoin's excellent article, which is very instructive : 12 years later and people still don't know to use Bitcoin nor what it's good for
1307  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit classic on: September 05, 2023, 11:08:27 AM
You should post your question in a more active section of the forum, I think that as this section is in the archival, you're likely to get very little visibility.

Otherwise, have you checked the balance of your address on an explorer?

Beginners, if I were you I would be less worried about Bitcoin, it's proven already, and I will be more worried about others, the journey of making money through Alts is full of thorns, stay safe out there.

Yeah sure there are a ton of good reasons to be a BTC maximalist, BTC is solid and should be around for a long time. And even without going so far as to be a maximalist, I find that investing in projects and altcoins represents a lot of research and 'temperature-taking', often resulting in a lot of disappointment (but this is a personal point of view).

But I deeply believe that people who buy alts to get "rich quick" don't give a shit about decentralisation, P2P, the freedom that cryptocurrencies can offer or the founding principles of Cypherpunks.

However, at least there is one good thing about altcoins and memecoins. they encourage a lot of people to get involved in the world of cryptocurrencies, and some of them then gain a better understanding of the field through research and reading. They have the advantage of contributing to the demystification of the actual use of wallets, exchanges etc.. for the begginers.
How many times have I read on Twitter or Reddit, something like "came hoping for quick money, stayed because it taught me how money works"

a few words about the UniJoin cards - on the front side the following is printed: serial (bottom left), BTC address (bottom center), qr-code of the respective BTC address and the block time of the production (bottom right). additionally the serial is embossed a second time above the UniJoin slogan.
and on the backside you can find the hologram (thanks to polymerbit) which protects the private key in the form of a qr-code printed on the card (which is additionally secured with a piece of paper). in addition, both sides have been professionally laminated and have a top quality

The cards looks very nice, congratulations to you for the work done!

I can't wait to join the raffle and maybe have a chance to win one!

Considering my observation and what l have heard, it is a very vital requirement that is difficult to get. l want to ask about how someone can get merit, is it something that can be gotten through posting useful content, or is it something that can be gotten by chance or luck?

Code:
S9  90w/th using 16nm chips
S11 76w/th  15.5% improvement
S15 57w/th  25% improvement
S17 45w/th  21% improvement
S19 36w/th  20% improvement
S19 Pro 29.5w/th  18% improvement
S19 XP 21.5w/th   27% improvement using 5nm chips

*Average improvement = 21%

Antminer S21: Bitmain’s Game Changer in the Bitcoin Mining World. Bitmain annonce environ 15w/th

New asic for bitcoin K10Ultra Normal Mode : 173T | 20.6W/T | 3562W

1319  Other / Archival / Re: 🌀 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: September 01, 2023, 05:22:18 AM
Great article, thanks for sharing it with us @Unijoin! It's a bit of a change from the simple and classical « don’t use Tor in full screen » only lol

The part about optimising speed is very interesting.

Just FYI, I think there's a tiny typo in the first line "won" should be "own" I guess.

While we're on the subject, don't you think you could gain even more users on [banned mixer] by offering a javascript-free version of the onion website ? I know that many Tor users may put javascript.enabled on "False" in about:config. I know that each website has his requirements, I am not well informed about that, I am just curious

In your article you are saying that people should use VPN and Tor together to ''amplify'' Tor, and I am not sure this is a good idea for everyone.
That is something that is NOT recommended by some security experts, and this is even confirmed on Tor website:

Quote
Generally speaking, we don't recommend using a VPN with Tor unless you're an advanced user who knows how to configure both in a way that doesn't compromise your privacy.
https://support.torproject.org/faq/faq-5/

you really need to have absolute trust in the VPN provider to do this, but in some countries it's better to have a VPN before Tor, than Tor on its own only I guess. I mean, I can easily imagine some places on earth where some internet or data providers shouldn't know that you are using Tor network

Bonjour
