Thanks for the alarm sokani, it's worrying that the fake telegram has got a lot of users, 12k+ members/subscribers that's misleading people from the real [banned mixer] website to their fake and scam website. They got 3.9k views with their most recent post there and I just hope that telegram will review the channel and have it removed already based on the reports that it receives and hoping they're not slow as what Google does with their reports.

I'm not sure, but I imagine most of these groups buy followers to look legit.

For sure, the more reports we send, the faster it will be handled. This usually takes between 5 and 15 days to be processed by Telegram.
1162  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Reliable sources of crypto news! on: October 27, 2023, 09:05:07 AM
Bitcoin Magazine (https://bitcoinmagazine.com) produces excellent articles, for all kinds of readers, and the news published are in general verified and reliable.
Otherwise, there's CoinMarketCap, which belongs to Binance, so if you want to read the point of view of a major player in the sector, it's interesting.

Whatever the site, I always try to find 2 or 3 sources for my information, especially when it comes to BTC and cryptocurrencies.

On the other hand, I have to admit that I avoid Youtube like the plague, I've heard nothing but bullshit when it comes to crypto news. I'm not talking about conferences but only about Youtubers whose business is to analyze the market while it's hot, there's nothing worse...

What is the RUI in the US for such a machine, based on the cost of the machine and energy?

Do you mean ROI?

If yes, you can check through this website : https://whattomine.com/miners/170-bitmain-antminer-s19-xp?cost=0.1&cost_currency=USD&sort=profit24_desc
You can change the price of the kw/h as you want, the link (above shows the profit with a 0.1usd per kw/h by default.)  With the current market price, it would take nearly 3 years to hit ROI at 0.1usd per kw/h.

But the halving is coming soon (approx. 180 days from today) and the difficulty changes too, so I never expected this kind of "ROI previsions" to be true.

1165  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 277 blocks solved! on: October 26, 2023, 04:36:43 PM
So 0.001 BTC is the minimum bid to get a spot in the block party?

Nope :
~15-18 users for each 0.005 BTC, 0.01 BTC or more BTC can participate

There were something mentioned that participation rules might change where someone might be able to take up someone else's spot that was already paid?

I've participated in many block parties, and as I saw, a paid spot is a paid spot. You can't lose yours.

What happens when no block is found, is there no reward?

Nothing. It is like a lost bet.

1167  Other / Archival / Re: 🦇 [banned mixer] - Maximum Anonymity 📌 Fees 1 - 5‰ on: October 26, 2023, 01:29:20 AM
But what is the difference between sending your coins to mixers and sending them to CEXes? Both types of services act as custodians while the time period when they hold the coins. So, people who doesn’t trust any CEX, should neither trust mixers. It means that the audience of mixers and of exchanges may be similar in some way.

Ok, but from my point of view:

The risks of using a mixer: losing some satoshis

The risks of using a CEX: losing some satoshis + your personal data (KYC/SoF) (+ potential legal/tax problems)

I'd rather take a risk to improve my privacy than take one to potentially ruin it.

Hello,
I recently purchased a control board that said it would work with my R4, It's a  ZYNQ C41   IT has the S9  firmware installed.   When I go to flash it with the R4 TAR.GZ files, it gives me an error.  I am not sure if there is a different file I can use to flash it or make a file for a bootable SD card.   The files on Bitmain don't seem to be files I can use to boot from the sd card.  Any help is greatly appreciated!   I don't think this should be this complicated.  Thank you in advance.

Yeah as mentioned by Artemis3, you should follow these exact steps :

S9-Control-Board-Program-Recovery

Once done you just need to flash again your board with the R4's firmware (from the GUI).

I would like to bring to the notice of everyone that there's a fake telegram channel, group and website impersonating UniJoin. I remembered some fake groups were reported and finally taken down few months ago. These scammers don't relent, they are like hydra, you cut off one head and another rises. The channel has about 12.1k subscribers while the group has about 8.6k members. It's the same scammer that's operating the channel, the group and the website.

Fake telegram channel:
Code:

Fake telegram group:

Fake website:
Code:
https://unijoin.plus/

According to whois, the website was created on 27th September 2023.

I'll like us to report en mass the telegram group, telegram channel and the website if possible.

Thank you.

It seems that the owner of these groups is https://t.me/UniJoin_AA

[banned mixer] Mixer Review Program #2
Bitcointalk username: iwantmyhomepaidwithbtc2

Browsers used :
-Mix 1 :Chromium Version 118.0.5993.70 (Official Build)
-Mix 2 : Tor 13.0
-Overall experience : I checked all the pages of the site with the two browsers mentioned above +  Firefox 115.3.1esr (64 bits) on Debian and under Android with Firefox Focus 119.0

MIX 1

With Chromium (and Firefox) I couldn't access the captcha and couldn't use the mixer. I deleted my cookies, refreshed the page, took into consideration your reply to mikeywith and stayed on the page while it loaded, but still the same problem. I tried with "private"/"incognito" window, same issue again. Not sure what was the problem, I never had this kind of issue with a captcha before. I encountered this problem yesterday too, when I tried to test your service, and it seems to be persistent on my end.

I had no problems with Tor browser, everything seems to work well:

So, let's go with Tor browser! I wanted to do the test with Chromium and Firefox, but it's not working at the moment. So I'm going to do the test with Tor, and try later when the problem is solved.

Above, you can see the whole history for the test 2. As you can see, the transaction arrived on time (+10 minutes, so exactly the average block confirmation's time needed), and everything was flawless. I'm not a blockchain analyst, but looking with Crystal explorer I couldn't find my own address.
I sent 0.00148455 BTC and received 0.00125649 ; which is fine.

Transaction fees were a little overpaid 40 sat/vB instead of approximately 20 sat/vB https://mempool.space/tx/259a247900a398b3087b9eb018a81ac5c1474097e53fbd11032d48fa6586ae5d

I'm now going to share with you my overall experience of using the product, as well as my various comments and questions.

About the mixing process :

Despite the problems of using your services outside the Tor browser, I found the steps of mixing extremely user-friendly, everything clear and well organized. It's one of the most pleasant mixers I've ever used. Your site updated itself almost instantly when my items entered the mempool, it's very responsive.

I like the Anonymizing meter, it's very user friendly:

It's good that users must tick the conditions + the reminder to download the letter of guarantee before everything else. Well done.

During the step 4 this informations appears and it is well managed, I find it very easy to read :

Once the mixing process is complete, I appreciated the suggestion to "Delete immediately" the order, which is good.

Before testing the mixing process, I began by exploring every aspect of the site, as I usually do when I come across a mixer I don't know.

I really like the design of your site, it's clear and modern.
Your website is responsive, I had no slowness of any kind, no matter what web-browser I used. The fact that you've integrated a dark mode is great. It's one of the most user-friendly mixer websites I've ever tried on Android, kudos for the mobile version!  Smiley

However, my first impression was mitigated : I told myself that if I had to discover Tumbler randomly -outside the context of this review-, I'd wonder if the service was still active, and if a team was still really in charge of it.

Despite the beauty of the site, I had a sort of "ghost town" feeling when I was browsing on the site... Let me explain why :

The support can't be contacted :

Same issue with Chromium and Firefox :
Code:
An error has occurred. Please refresh the page and try again.
I've tried two days in a row and the problem persists, and I've also refreshed the page several times and the same problem persists.

Your Twitter account is empty, no avatar, no post.
I'm not sure it's right for you to leave this X account linked to your site, it gives an impression of being left behind. You could share on X your blog articles for example. I guess it's not -of course- the number one priority, but any sign of activity is a plus when it comes to building trust.

Apparently, you have no active online presence outside your website and your Bitcointalk account.

Okay, it's not a big deal if you take these elements one by one, but as a whole, they give an impression of incompleteness.
In a sector where trust and reputation are essential, all these elements could lead new users to refuse to take risks, and to go and see some other platform. For example, showing signs of activity outside of your blog (which has irregular activity too) on Twitter, Discord or Telegram could be a real plus for federating a community of users and to reassure them. If I'd needed to contact the support, I'd have had to go to the FAQ, dig around and find your e-mail address. It would be nice to update the dedicated page. The fact that you are reactive on Bitcointalk is a big plus, but in my opinion, to reach more users, you need something extra. I know that multiplying accounts on social medias means multiplying risks (impersonation etc..), but it should be possible to find a good balance between online activity/presence and risks.

Other comments and suggestions :

FAQ
Your FAQ seems to be quite complete and precise, the information is clear, and I can't think of anything in particular to suggest to change about it.

Terms and Conditions :
Also, I've spent some time exploring your "Terms and Privacy" page.
I have some questions about the "Coin Filtering" part:

Quote
"The Service" may carry out verification and control of illegal activities with the help of a third party under a contract. "The Service" may terminate Your access to "The Service" with immediate effect for any reason - including, but not limited to, illegal or prohibited activities, at its sole discretion, and is not obligated to reveal the details of its decision.
You accept that "The Service's" decision to take certain actions, including termination for any reason at its sole discretion, may be based on confidentiality criteria that are necessary for "The Service's" security protocols and risk management. You accept "The Service" is not obligated to reveal to you the particularities of its security and risk management processes.

Are we supposed to understand that you could collaborate with blockchain analysis companies if it was requested? Or some my data could be shared to a third-party company? In any case, at first glance it seems rather vague. If you could reassure us about this point, that would be welcome.

Fees BTC
I use mixers regularly, of course I look how much cost the fees, but to be honest, I'm willing to pay the price of privacy; I've paid up to 4-5% in the past, which is why I find your fees reasonable (even if from a personal point of view I'm not a big fan of a fixed amount of BTC + x% and I like to have a percentage only, but that's personal). It's not cheap, but it's not expensive either, when compared with some of others mixing platforms. All good.

I'd like to make it clear that for this test, I wasn't looking to save on fees or anticipate them at all, I wanted to test the service with small amounts so this is necessarily disproportionate. A regular user would of course take more care not to send such a small amount with 3 output addresses.

Translations :
I can only check the French language, but I'd like to point out that the site's translation is more than a little unreliable.

It looks like it's been translated with GPT or an automatic translation tool. Most of the mistakes are in the FAQ, but the whole site has issues with the translation. For example some terms are translated in a literal way when it doesn't apply at all in the context of crypto mixing ("pièce" for Bitcoin, "code a tambour" for Tumbler code, for example, but there are many more).

If other languages have been translated in the same way, I'd advise you to recheck everything when you can.

Conclusion

You seem to be very responsive to the feedback you receive, so I'm not worried about the small accessibility problems I've encountered, I imagine they'll be quickly rectified.

Otherwise, I think the site could be more complete, especially from the point of view of branding your service. Nevertheless, it's been a pleasure to navigate, and use your site and service. I found it intuitive, fast, and the service was done as stipulated in the letter of guarantee.

I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to test your service, and to give you my comments and suggestions. I remain at your disposal if you want to discuss anything about this review.
1173  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] XBTO Digital Pool // FPPS & PPLNS // 0.55% to 1.75% mining fees - JOIN US on: October 25, 2023, 12:47:21 AM
The European Union has no business in Bitcoin mining, whatever operation they might have would be considerably small and not worth mentioning, so who is fool enough to set up a mining pool in EU anyway? what would they gain? tax are higher than the majority of the world, no local clients of interest, exactly nothing.

I understand why would someone start a mining pool in the U.S, because regardless of the regulation, the U.S is the largest mining hub, so being a U.S "made" mining pool would certainly have some advantages at least to the larger corps mining BTC, but in EU, I don't see why.

Yes, I don't think any new pools will be set up in the EU in the future.  Cheesy

But if I'm not mistaken, it seems to me that there are still a few small pools that depend of EU regulation (Nicehash, Mining Dutch, EMCD, but it may have changed since then, I will double check and edit my post if I find something new).

I agree with you, the EU is only symbolic (and still, not even 1% of the total hashrate lol...) but personally it's more the big picture that bothers me: USA + EU impose or will impose KYC on users of pools under their regulation...

What are the news?
Not only Nicehash. We'll soon have mandatory automatic declaration of CEX accounts in the EU, and incomes from mining too (no idea how it is supposed to be done concretely). There's talk of more advanced CEX/tax agencies cooperation, and also this KYC thing to come.

Fortunately, we have a few countries with extremely advantageous tax systemes in Europe (Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Portugal, Malta), but the screws are being tightened more and more each year. There are two big laws in the pipeline on cryptos, and everyone is pretty pessimistic about their consequences for users.

Oh, that would be pretty light, I hope it stops there, for all I know, they could use the terrorism, Iran, Russia, and Hamas card, which would be pretty devastating to BTC in general, a few weeks ago Binance froze a dozen Palestinians' accounts, the excuse was that they were "related to Hamas", we know who is behind that, there is only one country which has the means of forcing Binance to do that, ya politics sucks, let's hope these governments don't weaponize crypto further for personal gains.

Exactly, and we have good reason not to be overly optimistic.
1174  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] XBTO Digital Pool // FPPS & PPLNS // 0.55% to 1.75% mining fees - JOIN US on: October 24, 2023, 10:28:07 PM
The solution is rather simple, steer clear from any mining pool that is based in the U.S if you don't want to be KYCed. it's crazy that in a country that is known to be the land of the free, you have all the rules and regulations that would strip you of your rights to privacy under the illusion of fighting "money laundry and terrorism funding".
Agree but as you know the problem will spread slowly but surely.
The same will soon apply to pools based in the European Union. It seems that when the Mica law comes into application, a KYC will be required for mining activities in EU. European users of Nicehash (based in Slovenia) could soon or later have a bad surprise when logging in...

I wonder how long it will take for the U.S. to force every U.S. miner to use a U.S.-based mining pool.?
I guess as soon as they will start to claim that mining in a foreign pool is a form of tax evasion.  Cheesy

Yeap but it is a small pool. If the pool is not lucky, you can maybe wait and mine for years before the pool find a block.
...
Um, when solo mining the size of the pool is irrelevant... All that matters is YOUR hash rate and YOUR luck. That said, kano has several nodes spread across the planet so one should be near you.

I believe OP changed his mind in page 2 and is looking for a PPLNS or PPS pool. If not, of course for solo mining, the size of the pool is indeed irrelevant to take into consideration.
1178  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Solo mining help on: October 23, 2023, 11:57:51 AM
I forgot to ask you. Due to the fact that binance does not have a presence in Canada, wouldn't it be possible to use its US presence for instance? Or is it not allowed?
No, you won't be able to use Binance.us
Binance.us will require US citizenship + US POA

To tell you how impossible this is: when I worked for Binance.com,, we continually had the problem of having Canadian users from Quebec blocked by the site. At the time, only Ontario was blacklisted, not the whole country. So why were users from Quebec blocked? Because their ISP assigned them an Ontario IP randomly. And for these users, the process of unblocking their account was long and complicated. So you can imagine now... even with a VPN you will be blocked because of your KYC process.

Similarly, you're allowed to use Binance.com if you're French, have a French passport and a French POA. Binance.com is even regulated in France, with an address near Paris.
However, you can find yourself banned from using the site even with LEGIT documents. But why? If, for example, you were born in Iran, emigrated to France and obtained French nationality. Your passport / ID will show your place of birth as: IRAN - Teheran for example.
Since Iran is on the blacklisted countries list, even if you're only BORN there, and have a legal nationality in the EU, you can't use their services.

It's sometimes difficult to cheat the system, and often easier to find a more appropriate solution right from the start.

Not with Kano pool? I thought that Kano pool is the middle way...

Yeap but it is a small pool. If the pool is not lucky, you can maybe wait and mine for years before the pool find a block. So if you can afford to pay your elecricity without any earning for a possible very long time, Kano's pool is great and has a great support via Discord.

If you want to make more frequent withdrawals, for example to pay bills, it's better to use a pool that has more hashrate and therefore finds blocks more often.
1179  Other / Archival / Re: 🌀 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: October 23, 2023, 11:43:29 AM
I believe it has already been affected really badly and honestly I don't see any sighs of things getting better there, because the local policy is only continuing to be more strict and stifle crypto initiative. That is why new mining hotspots are emerging, for example in Kazakhstan, where electricity is still cheap enough for this and there are no strict regulatory restrictions. China on the contrary is more focused on tightening up crypto measures and control as much as possible. Miners can not feel good or even just survive in such conditions.

Yeap China banned BTC mining in 2021. Most of their hashrate went indeed to Kazakhstan, but taxes policy and electricity accessibility became more and more complex for miners. Today, most of the hashrate is located in the USA and in Russia.
