501  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for 0.2 testnet BTC. Would be appreciated! on: February 13, 2024, 09:16:12 AM
Why would altcoin do airdrop for testcoin?

I was not aware of this shit neither, but Mitchell mentionned it yesterday in the topic Why High Demand for Bitcoin Testnet Coins?
It is related to the SatoshiVM airdrop, which uses testnet coins to get SatoshiVM Testnet tokens (announcement tweet).

Quote
SatoshiVM has confirmed to do an airdrop to the top 5,000 testnet users. Users can now participate in testing the bridge on the newly launched testnet. The top 5,000 testnet users will receive a SatoshiVM NFT once the alpha-mainnet goes live. These NFT holders will get SAVM airdrops on a weekly basis.

Actually, I'm about to ask if someday the testnet Bitcoin will have value in the future but I think I can answer it on my own. For some reason if someone needs testnet Bitcoin and if I have some I probably can ask for an exchange or fee. In short I will not be giving it for free. It may not expensive but at least you need to pay.

The worst part is that you are probably right, some people already tried recently to sell tBTC for mainnet BTC on the forum....
502  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for 0.2 testnet BTC. Would be appreciated! on: February 13, 2024, 08:30:20 AM
Even testnet BTC are expensive, don't think anyone gonna send you 0.1/0.2 tBTC for free.

Lol what?
Since when tBTC does has a commercial value? Absolutely everyone running a faucet is giving tBTC for free everyday..
Faucets will give him 0.1 tBTC, but not in one time. He will need to take some time to claim it.

Btw, no one should need 0.1 tBTC, tests are doable with less than 0.001 for 99.9% of cases...

So...

OP are you asking for this tBTC for the sake of a fucking altcoin airdrop?
503  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US DoJ dismantled WarZone RAT Infrastructure on: February 13, 2024, 08:27:05 AM
Sounds good, but I'm still convinced that it's a drop in the ocean. I'm sure that 2 other websites have already taken over.

Isn't this an already lost battle? Shouldn't the US be devoting all these resources to educating people on the subject rather than going after the bad guys? In the long term, wouldn't that kill the problem more than just chasing after new criminals again and again?

507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: February 12, 2024, 01:51:00 PM
Has there ever been a BIP to give a sort of priority value to transactions as a function of the passage of time : the more time passes, the more this value increases, which would, for example, make a tx at 1 sats/vB that has been waiting for 6 months a priority compared with a tx at 20 sats/vB that has been waiting for a few minutes.

Wouldn't (almost) everybody use very low fee because of that? and thus, wouldn't it lead to make a heavy mempool?

510  Economy / Reputation / dress prefixes - Bitcoin WikiRe: Why High Demand for Bitcoin Testnet Coins? on: February 12, 2024, 09:21:34 AM
If I'm not mistaken, addresses starting with "m" or "n" are P2PKH (legacy) addresses, and addresses starting with "tb1" are in Bech32 format. Testnet wallets should be able to send to all addresses, regardless of whether the prefix is "m", "n", or "tb1".

I think you're right.

If we look on the Bitcoin Wiki, page List_of_address_prefixes. we find the following line:

This is interesting. I was not aware of the different types of addresses for testnet BTC.

513  Local / Hors-sujet / Plus de 50% des cryptomonnaies sont mortes on: February 11, 2024, 09:54:15 PM
Je suis tombé sur ce topic de que je trouve autant marrant que désespérant :

Quote from: zasad link=topic=5482067.msg63519159#msg63519159
date=1705595454
https://www.coingecko.com/research/publications/how-many-cryptocurrencies-failed
"How Many Crypto Coins Have Died?
Over 50% of all cryptocurrencies have died. Of the over 24,000
cryptocurrencies listed on CoinGecko since 2014, 14,039 have died.

Most dead cryptocurrencies came from projects launched during the 2020 -
2021 bull run. 7,530 cryptocurrencies from that period have died,
accounting for 53.6% of all dead cryptocurrencies on CoinGecko. Over
11,000 cryptocurrencies were listed on CoinGecko during the previous
bull run, with ~70% having shut down since."

___
Officially, only 50% are scam and unsuccessful projects

514  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bitaxeUltra: Open source Bitcoin miner based on the BM1366 ASIC on: February 11, 2024, 09:44:15 PM
Is there any step-by-step tutorial?

I am currently working on a text tutorial on building Bitaxes. I will need more months btw

There is D-Central who did some very nice videos on Youtube:  FRIDAY WARRIOR Special Livestream - Learn how to make Bitaxe v2.2 Open-Source ASIC Miner - 063

Another one:  Live Assembly and talk about the Bitaxe
515  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bitaxeUltra: Open source Bitcoin miner based on the BM1366 ASIC on: February 11, 2024, 09:01:19 PM
Thanks! It will be useful.
My father having the schematics and the parts should be enough to put everything together.

Are the components easy to buy?

The programming part will only be more complicated, which is something I've never done.

I'll try to visit this group on Discord.  Wink

I hope that you will have some time to learn from your dad skills, this is so satisfying to build your own asic!

Yeah the components are (more or less) easy to buy. Chips can be complicated because of minimum of order for quantities etc... On the discord group, we have someone selling chips frequently (in case you have difficulties to order via chinese websites).

You'll see, the programming part is not complicated, pretty straight forward

Well, back @ home  Wink

You should come south my friend Cheesy Wink Spain is a good place for tourism, even in winter.

Yeah you're right, I am already sure that my next winter won't be in Bulgaria lol  Grin
Spain is on top of my "must go" list! Cannot wait to come again, as I only saw the Costa Brava and Madrid for now!

You are right, that would be among our most difficult translations to date, but nothing comparable to Husna QA's topic's difficulty, not only in length (more than 7,300 words vs less than 2,900) but also in BBCode complexity and technical vocabulary.

In addition, I think that it is an interesting document to translate because it gives a new perspective which is not the one we usually read in mass media and, thus, it would encourage critical thinking about this matter also in local boards.

Finally, it definitely would've been a bad idea if we'd proposed this topic when our list was full of pending translations, but as we've almost cleared the translations in progress, IMO this is the perfect moment to take on a challenge like this one.

But, as always, and that's how it should be, the final decision is yours guys. Please, share your thoughts and feel free to make new proposals in the case you don't find appropriate the one discussed one.

I am ok doing this translation to FR, but I will need more or less 1/2 month(s) to make it, as I have other pending translations (1miau's topics)

I love coming here and looking at the different gaps between the portfolios. It's so random it's funny.

The full BTC portfolio has dropped to 10th place.
Mine is doing badly, between XMR and EVMOS it's a real defeat lol

The 2 best and 2 lowers portfolios for now:
