1561  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: pirate payments list -- accounts paid: 23/459 on: September 29, 2012, 08:39:16 PM
So people are still in denial that pirateat40 is a scammer?

Apparently.  People are still buying his debt.  I'm starting to think they know something we don't.
1562  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying pirate/bitcoinmax debt, paying 1-2.5% on: September 29, 2012, 08:37:50 PM
Hello everyone,

I buy BTCST, pirate, bitcoinmax etc accounts.
I pay 1 to 2.5% of its "value", depending on:

- Size (the larger the better, I don't want dozens of tiny accounts)
- Actual invested sum without interest
- Account type (direct pirate being more valuable than ppt)
- If ppt: did the PPT operator pass on account infos to pirate?

I hold a bitcoinmax account. If you have other suggestions, like exchanging account types for example, let me know.

If you don't say otherwise, I may update this thread with anonymized offers I received by pm.

Ente
You know, if you're looking to make money off of this, you probably won't.  Pirate defaulted, and the SEC is investigating him, which means that there is probably something off about him.

Yeah, but someone must have spoiled the ending for you.
Nope.  I just know that they were insuring peoples mortgages who ended up not paying them back.

<stuff>
If that back-and-forth can be construed as a contract, I think we're in trouble.
I agree with this.  I don't think it's necessarily right for him to break the "contract", but it wasn't a contract in the first place.  I don't even think it was an agreement.

If I'm missing anything, don't take any offense.

I don't care about the porn. I don't care that Mircea doesn't care.

I think he does care.  This whole exercise of borrowing shares is to be able to write CALL options without being naked, right?    Cheesy
U so seely.
1566  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The pirate and the SEC - Alleged e-mails. on: September 28, 2012, 08:53:18 PM
My comment was a joke. AIG insured practically anyone against default on mortgages leading up to the 2008 crisis. Their inability to price the systemic risk in their mortgage default insurance was a key component in the liquidity crisis we are still facing. Every large bank had massive exposure to them in their mortgage backed securities, and AIG had no realistic way to repay what they owed before the federal government stepped in.

I just saw an interesting parallel.

1567  Economy / Gambling / Re: Escrow for all these bets? on: September 28, 2012, 07:06:12 PM
I'm confused on what you're asking.  Wouldn't escrow be in-game and by the same company as the person the bet would be made with?

Please explain.

I just got something in that I thought some of you might be interested in.

10 Antique IBM Type M keyboards:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02og1nUSI8A

These are the base keyboards for almost all steampunk keyboard mods (such as the datamancer keyboards), and are frankly awesome. They range from 1987 to 1994 models.

Anyone interested? I'm still in the process of cleaning out the insides, testing all keys, and taking images of each. I'll post them here when I'm done. Usually I just throw these on ebay when I find them but..... bitcoin!
Do you own or work for this company?  Also, really cool.  I'm definitely going to come here when I need something.

1571  Economy / Services / Re: QuickBitcoins Reloaded :: New Site, Groundbreaking Features on: September 27, 2012, 10:11:13 PM
Your site don't work dude Wink Put an order through for CC it's been pending since 8AM! That's even before I make the purchase and enter CC info. Don't think I'm going to enter CC info if it takes this long just to accept my order and let me pay ha ha you might loose my money somewhere. Get the kinks out first.
Sometimes it takes awhile.  If you want, you can probably ask him on IRC.  Great service though.
1572  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Need $200 paypal for coins on: September 27, 2012, 08:37:39 PM
I need $200 paypal balance. Meaning funds not from credit card or bank account. Funds in your paypal account. I will go first if you have rep. You go first if you dont have rep.
If you're selling BTC, I would buy $50 worth.

PM me if interested.

1574  Economy / Securities / Re: <nefario> [Pirate assets] are not listed or traded anymore on: September 26, 2012, 08:06:44 PM
Personally, I think that trading in defaulted assets should have been halted from the outset but sooner or later the Bitcoin world is going to need to come to grips with the concept of "sophisticated investors" and offer certain investments only to those who can meet certain income/asset benchmarks.  Of course this requires verifying people's real life financial information so it's likely to be unpopular with many.  And people are still going to create pass-throughs to high risk offerings, but it's a step towards making those who promote high risk investments more accountable.

So you are saying that rich people are somehow better than poor people? That having a certain amount of money should allow you more freedom than people with less money? And who is to say where the cutoff is?

He is just a romanian pedophile.
WTFBBQSAUCE.  Where did that come from?

The party boat is coming for pirate.
First off: Never in my phone call did he say pirate was going to prison.  They are investigating it, but anything can happen.

Wait, so Shavers was already convicted?
No, they are doing an investigation.  See above response as well.
Any chance we can get a rundown of your call?

Welp, too late now. I just heard this from a distant third-party on the forums so I am clean. Don't try to hold me in contempt of court.

It was supposed to be non-public.  And stop exaggerating.
I never got the memo. Anyways, 12 years in prison for securities fraud is typical.
It was in the email.  Which you obviously know about.  Wink
