1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone help me understand this earlier block and how it works? on: January 09, 2019, 05:19:39 AM
you aren't missing anything, it is a problem (a bug) with blockexplorer.com database that doesn't show that address for some reason. maybe they haven't indexed it!
but if you check the same block and address on another block explorer you can see the address shows the appropriate balance. for example on blockchain.com:
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/19vhPMtzq2RnrTUQWxqmio4SfvMbGvbpJ8
1162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earning Bitcoin is good, but don't depent on it. on: January 09, 2019, 05:16:04 AM
On Facebook a lot of my friends asking what are the best option besides bounty hunting and trading, yes these are people who rely on online to make money or to make a living, what this bear market teaches is we must have another income-generating job besides online, because there will come a time that everything will not go well, just like what is happening today.

you can't make a living by doing silly micro jobs online such as "bounty hunting". not to mention that majority of ICOs have been scams and you lost a lot of money if you participated in any of them. additionally like anything else, entering cryptocurrency market requires a lot of experience and also needs spending a lot of time doing it.
1163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New everyday cryptocurrency??? on: January 08, 2019, 06:47:08 AM
the real question is why would anybody want to use a new centralized cryptocurrency with all its complications, the risks and unstable price (even though it is "called" stable), risk of having your money stolen by the company, the company running away,.... while they can easily use another centralized currency such as Paypal, VISA or their banks which is safer and they have been using it all this time!

you see, the only reason why something like bitcoin is successful and it is growing every day is that it is decentralized.
1164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thought on Alts in 2019 on: January 08, 2019, 06:34:26 AM
apart from the obvious facts that new ICOs are dead in their infancy, most old ICO tokens are dying and in a short time the number of altcoins is going to decrease drastically because of high "fatality" rate! i have to say i see 2019 to have at least one medium sized pumping season in it where we will see a new altcoin that we weren't hearing much about get pumped and be shooted up to top ranks such as #2 in coinmarket cap replacing the current old over pumped ones.

but what i hope for 2019 is that we can see at least one decent new altcoin out of all this mess to be created so that we can have something to show for for nearly 8-9 years of altcoin market.
1165  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could this be the inverse hNs ? Back to 5K Reversal ? on: January 08, 2019, 06:24:24 AM
there is always going to be a bunch of greedy bear whales who want to short bitcoin or want to buy cheaper bitcoin and accumulate more. it is true at literary all the times. the difference is that they are not the only players in the market and as soon as the market sentiment changes and the trend reverses in the other direction, they will have to stop or be crushed by it.

it has little to do with "psychology" in my opinion. it is mostly naivete accompanied by greed and small size of the market which makes it easy to manipulate if you have enough money.
1166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Really Meant as a Peer to Peer System on: January 08, 2019, 06:14:58 AM
the fiat system is a pretty bad one and in many countries it is corrupted but it still won't go away because fiat is not something that just dies one day even if bitcoin was at mass adoption stage and every one was using it for their day to day transactions, fiat would still be around because bitcoin is an additional option and is not meant to replace anything.
1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg: Japan Gauges Interest in Bitcoin ETF as Pundits Talk Down US Approval on: January 08, 2019, 06:06:22 AM
I really don't know what exiting time is ahead even if Japan proposes to accept ETF business in their country. Japan is well know for its over regularion. They have imposed tax slabs ranging from 15% to 55% for cryptos which is effectively creating an obstacle for mass adoption. I am sure no real impact will be seen even if Japan decides positively for ETF.

i am not sure how much are the taxes on bitcoin but i am taking your word for it. but i am sure about one thing and it is the fact that you are missing the fact that this tax is for when you "invest in bitcoin" not when you use it "as a currency". in other words if you are a trader who buys and sells bitcoin and takes profit then you have to pay whatever% tax on it but if you use bitcoin as a currency to purchase stuff then the tax on it is 0. for example you can receive your salary in bitcoin and end up having 20BTC and not pay anything for taxes.
and that helps with adoption  A LOT.
1168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Are Selling off Their Crypto on: January 08, 2019, 05:58:09 AM
you can't tell everyone that selling their "crypto" is wrong because for majority of them it is a correct move. consider the case of someone who bought an altcoin in its dip after the huge dump that we had a couple of weeks ago. for that person this recovery which is a good rise after that low is a good place to dump that altcoin before it gets dumped on him and he loses his chance.
or for a day trader who has been doing this on every up and down, selling after the "up" is a good choice so that he can buy back when the "down" came. of course in this context up and down can mean something like sell at $4010 and buy back at $3990. rinse and repeat. (just an example though).
1169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Market 2018 vs 2017 on: January 06, 2019, 06:58:09 AM
ICOs are risky, many of them are pure scams, and all of them are useless because none of them have ever done anything. all they do is create a useless token and get paid for it just to stop working the day they receive the payment. in other words they are getting paid for a one time job!!!

this flawed model is doomed to fail. which is what has been happening from start of 2017. people no longer trust them specially since they stopped being profitable but also because they start to realize how useless they all are.
1170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: new foek ETH : ETCV and ETN in jan 2019 on: January 06, 2019, 06:47:52 AM
this is an absolute forking mess that has been going on with ethereum. and i think it is partly showing the desperation of them for pumping their useless token after it lose 90% of its pumped value last year. with these "airdrops" they are trying to encourage newbies to buy the coin itself so that its price can go back up again.
so far there has been little success in this desperate attempt. not to mention that things like this can ruin a coin. they are forgetting the short while after the fork when every whale is going to start dumping all of their coins to get the profit out and also stay ahead of the newbie panic sells.
1171  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it time to sell Ethereum & all coins , and buy Bitcoin on: January 06, 2019, 06:36:52 AM
bitcoin must be separated from eth and all coins
it IS separated from eth or any other altcoin! it was never connected anyways!

Quote
ico's Is the biggest fraud in Cryptocurrencies
true but as long as there is profit (or in this case hope of making a profit even if it is mostly loss) they won't stop their fraudulent activities because people will continue to fall for it with that hope.

Quote
People must stop investing in eth and other coins , all funds of icos or coins of future must be turned into bitcoin
you can not dictate what other people do with their money. it is a free market and they invest their money in anything they want, in most cases they throw it away but it is still their choice. not to mention that pump and dump altcoins such as ETH are always super profitable during their pumps and super destructive during their dumps.
so i guess a better suggestion would be to be wise and only trade them to make the profit.

Quote
i think etf must approved for bitcoin only and soon
why? SEC has given no indication of changing their mind. and why would you even care about it?!!

Mentioning ETF well I believe it is a quite important decision actually, many think it will be accepted eventually. So I think short term investors should definitely care about this decision. It could happen in two months from now, and we could see a big pump after that.

Agree with the rest of your post, Bitcoin was never linked with Ethereum in any way, just some insiders taking advantage of Bitcoin to issue forked coins (Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, etc) to get free money out of it.

i didn't mean to say ETF's approval is meaningless. i was trying to say that the expectation is that it will be rejected. of course there is still a possibility of it being approved by the SEC but the chance of that happening is very small, something like 5% if i am generous which means it won't change anything in the market prior to the decision because people expect denial, afterwards if it is denied then nobody would care because again they were expecting it and if it is accepted then there will be a big rally because it would come as a surprise.
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network effect on Bitcoin's price on: January 06, 2019, 06:25:01 AM
But as the price goes up, the demand for coins necessarily decreases (and still more so in a generally downtrend market). And that leaves us with higher volatility as both supply and demand decrease down the road, the former due to coins "lost" in payment channels while the latter due to an increase in price. The net effect is that the market becomes thinner on both ends or sides and thus more susceptible to manipulations and price fluctuations

On the other hand, if there is enough hype caused by a LN explosive expansion, this alone can lead to a boost in demand and consequently price. But the drawback is that hype is not going to last for long as it is with any other hype out there, especially if it is not followed and supported by the real use of this technology. Compare this to a long-lasting and landscape-changing effect of Lightning Network itself taking off for real

That would be like an avalanche, and a never-ending one at that

the thing about hype is that sometimes some types of hypes are based on false promises and lies like what the altcoins have been doing for their pumps. this type of hype is not going to last and will go away. and there will be a big dump.
but another hype is based on facts and there is some reality to it. if this type leads to a rise then it will last even though there may be a correction in case of a bubble because of that hype.

the LN hype is of second type. there may be some exaggeration and misunderstanding in there too but it is based on facts. the facts that it offers limitless scalability, near no fees, instant transactions,...
1173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Question] What will happened to Bitcoin if there's no miner? on: January 06, 2019, 06:19:17 AM
Turn off the internet and kill all bitcoin miners then bitcoin will die.

killing the internet will kill 90% of the word and cripple 100% of it because although it may not look like it but we depend on the internet more than you know in all our activities specially when it comes to money.
besides killing the internet will not kill bitcoin, we can still broadcast blocks using radio waves and satellites Cheesy
1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy on rumour and sell on news. on: January 05, 2019, 06:51:36 AM
neither of these two are "rumors" they are facts.
- Fact: Ethereum has a hard fork upcoming
- Fact: hard forks are super risky and will split the chain into two in 90% of the cases
- Fact: forks are usually hyped up and can lead to pump
- Fact: the volume has been picking up but it can be be cause of the recovery  + the mini pump

a rumor would be something like hearing about ETH being listed on some big exchange that didn't have it before and buying it before there is any official announcement.
1175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitTorrent Is Launching Its Own Cryptocurrency on the Tron Network on: January 05, 2019, 06:38:40 AM
lol that is such a misleading article.

Bittorrent belongs to Tron. in case you have forgotten it they bought Bittorrent last year: https://www.coindesk.com/tron-bought-bittorrent-crypto-wont-stop-talking
and now they are just making a new useless token using the "brand" that they have bought to advertise that token and get some money out of it.
1176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Imagine Crypto and Bitcoin Currency Risks in early 2018 on: January 05, 2019, 06:33:03 AM
there will always be people who would want to convince you that the future of bitcoin is not good because of any of the following:
- they don't want to see bitcoin succeed because its success means their failure. like banks feeling threatened by bitcoin or some shitcoin that wants to be pumped more and knows if bitcoin is rising they have no chance of staying around
- they want to push bitcoin price lower so that they can buy more of it for themselves.
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can I clone repo, make PoW easier and create fake Bitcoin ? on: January 05, 2019, 06:20:03 AM
imagine a $1 bill in your mind (if you can't just google the picture). if you buy a printer, copy the design then change the background color to pink for example, change the font, change the size of the paper,... and print it then it won't be a $1 bill anymore. it will be a 1 somethingelse currency which is created by you and will only be accepted by whoever chooses to follow your print instead of the original print.

your question is the same as this one. when you change the consensus rules of bitcoin (changing PoW in this case) the coins you are creating are no longer bitcoin because they don't look like bitcoin and will be considered an alternative.
it won't be "fake bitcoin" it will be "alternative bitcoin".
the way it technically works is a bit complicated but basically it is every node verifying everything they receive and when something doesn't check out (like consensus rules) they simply reject it as invalid.
1178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency are not thread according to RBI.. on: January 05, 2019, 06:14:45 AM
the word is "threat".

do you have a reference for this?
because in my experience usually they say the "technology" is a good thing not the decentralized implementations of the technology like bitcoin. with that in mind they may be talking about their own centralized altcoin (like what Venezuela did) and they have been working on it for a while now. this may be the groundwork for the release of that.
1179  Economy / Speculation / Re: People who bought BITCOIN at $1000 are now starting to sell, CCN article writes on: January 05, 2019, 06:09:18 AM
To be honest, I don't care about the news and articles because that are information for the masses and maybe a way for the investors to panic. If this is true then those people who bought Bitcoin at $1000 at a stupid idiot because they only started gaining profit when Bitcoin is at its lowest prices. Why they didn't sell at its peak? Complete nonsense article
Agree with you that i wonder why they are missed good opportunities to sold when bitcoin reach to $19k and why they are have to wait until bitcoin price cheap such as now and i think we should not care for upcoming FUD and even if supposse can we have to avoid it because currently there are so many false news about crypto and seems they are attempts to kill crypto

because it is a very old article on a very old topic Cheesy
the shitty news site called CCN published this during the time when bitcoin price was very stable and absolutely nothing else was happening in the scene so they didn't have any other "news" to post. a news site has to publish some bullshit every day or they will go under. to do that they were publishing all kinds of crap during that time.
1180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain is a store of value on: January 03, 2019, 02:26:30 PM
no it is not!

you are confusing one of many features of "bitcoin" with blockchain in general. bitcoin can be used as a store of value on top of a lot of other things. but the blockchain is the technology and even if you meant the altcoins you are still wrong because many of them are not just dropping in value in long term but also are quite unsafe because of their bugs, their lack of security, their centralization which can lead in your money being stolen by the developer and a lot of other things.
