1781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FACTORS THAT AFFECTS THE PRICE OF AN ALTCOIN? on: July 20, 2018, 05:27:37 AM
pump and dump.
which is basically pure manipulation of the market. sometimes it starts with some sort of news which hypes the coin and leads to its pump. for example Stellar was listed on Coinbase (or is going to be listed?) and that hyped it up a lot and lead to a big pump of it.
but sometimes it is just pumpers picking up some random shitcoin and pumping it for short term profit.

And also why some exchanges have higher selling price and others have lower selling price. Can you share your thoughts?

price of altcoins are always the same with a very small difference on different exchanges.
if a difference occurs it will be resolved in a very short time because people either buy/sell that coin on the other exchange and bring the price to the same level as other exchanges or they arbitrage it to come to that level.
if you see a persistent difference then it means there is some problem with that exchange with different price.
1782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin grows everyday through Shared knowledge on: July 20, 2018, 05:07:48 AM
people need to want to open their minds first before anything you say or do can change their views of bitcoin and the technology. and if they already have an open mind then the "knowledge" is already out there to be found and learned, you just have to search for it. for example you can go to bitcoin wiki or other proper sources such as some of the books that are written like the Andreas Antonopoulos book called Mastering Bitcoin and learn more.
a forum is just a place to share your opinion on the matter, discuss things, or ask questions about things you didn't understand. it is not a place to learn the basics in my opinion.
1783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash vs Bitcoin, which is better? on: July 19, 2018, 05:52:11 AM
Why people still believe that Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is better than Bitcoin (BTC)?

believing is not the same as saying you believe.
people say they believe that BCH is better than bitcoin because they want you to believe in it so that you buy it and then they make profit from your purchase.
it is a hyping technique altcoin bag holders are very fond of. they fool others, specially newcomers into buying their bags so that they can make a small profit.
1784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NANO's Crash Explained - The rise of DIECI on: July 19, 2018, 05:47:34 AM
NANO went from $32 to $2 because it was pumped and it needed to be dumped. that is true about all the altcoins that get pumped. their dumping back down is inevitable. the good news is when they are dumped like this (>94%) they reach their bottom and there is no more drop left in them. the chances of them rising is a lot higher.

as for the shitcoin you are advertising (DIECI) it is just another bullshit that you are bag holding. there is nothing superior on it than there is on any of the similar shitcoins. not to mention that NANO drop started a long time ago while DIECI is not even listed anywhere yet.

Edit: this shitcoin started 7 days ago Cheesy
1785  Economy / Speculation / Re: Digital Currency Group's Silbert says bitcoin has 'hit the bottom on: July 19, 2018, 05:39:57 AM
every time the bottom is tested and it stands strong, and also every day that we stay above it failing to go below it despite all the FUD that has been around, means more people start to realize that we have already hit the bottom and eventually knowing bottom is behind us the price can start rising back up again as the money that was staying on the sidelines comes back in.
1786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Its the start of the bullrun ? on: July 17, 2018, 05:48:20 AM
what you saw on the chart was a small rise, or more accurately you saw the color green and now you are concluding that it is "bullish". even of this is the start of a bullrun, your conclusion is still wrong. what you see on the charts is simply a small recovery after months of getting dumped and going down.

in my personal opinion altcoins are still not  done getting dumped so we may not be able to see a bull run yet. at least not until these dumps are over and altcoins reach bottom.
1787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment in Alts vs BTC? on: July 17, 2018, 05:28:54 AM
in long term: bitcoin
in short term: shitcoins.

it is obvious that bitcoin has a very strong long term potential and since its market is a lot bigger than altcoins then it is extremely hard to manipulate (pump and dump) it so the profit is purely based on real adoption and that profit is strong in the long run since it will surely go up and not come down in the long run. for instance last year it was $1000 and now it is $6000 so that is 6x profit in the long run.

for altcoins there is no real adoption but only speculation. and because their markets are small and they are easy to manipulate (pump and dump) you get a lot of good opportunities to make a lot of profit in short term which is their pump period.
1788  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Altcoin to Fiat on: July 17, 2018, 05:12:36 AM
i believe that altcoins first have to have any kind of usage apart from speculation if they want to be traded with fiat more. there is demand for sure but it is too little mainly because people are mostly investing their bitcoins in all the different altcoins so that they can increase their bitcoins not their fiat.

the strategy is basically this: you invest $100 in bitcoin for example then invest that bitcoin you bought in altcoins and increase it twice. then bitcoin price goes up twice too so you end up having $400 worth of bitcoin.
1789  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin jumps after report suggests BlackRock is getting serious about the crypt on: July 17, 2018, 04:57:51 AM
Quote
BlackRock has set up a working group to explore ways of taking advantage of the cryptocurrency market.

i can only hope that this statement doesn't mean they are going to enter the "altcoin" market and take advantage of the fact that you can easily manipulate them and pump and dump them. there is a lot of money in pump and dumps and ICO scams which can make any firm greedy to enter.
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTG is the garbage coin right? on: July 16, 2018, 06:33:33 AM
Bittres doesn't matter anymore. it is officially a shitty exchange that has lost its share of the market a long time ago when they decided to scam people and also enforce KYC on them while selling their information online. them delisting a coin is most probably because they can no longer afford the server resources because of the huge volume that they lost and fell to the bottom of the list.

in any case BTG is a garbage coin nonetheless. but that is because it is a pointless fork of bitcoin with nothing to offer. it will continue to exist and be pumped and dumped because the important exchanges like the top ones have it listed and people still want to trade it.
1791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is TETHER a SCAM? on: July 16, 2018, 06:20:25 AM
Scam it's or not, we need tether and things like tether, it's making crypto world more stable.

not at all. we don't need a shady altcoin that is creeping its way into the whole market and can fail at any moment if the company behind it decides to scam and run away or if finally US government decides they want to close them down because of all their claims about having USD reserves and all that drama. do you know what will happen to the market then?!

if anything, what we need is a decentralized stable coin not a centralized coin like tether.
1792  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do people look at the dollar value of a coin instead of the Satoshi value? on: July 16, 2018, 06:11:29 AM
It is dollar they invested and is the reason they need to look at the dollar value rather than the bitcoins value. Looking at the dollar value makes you understand the profit gain or loss inured.

Right. And let's face it, in today's time, fiat is still what you use in the real world. I doubt that there are many investors who are looking forward to the bitcoin value of their investments. It's always about the conversion.

that may be one of the reasons why they do it but i think the main reason is because they want to hype the coin that they are advertising and when using its fiat value you can have a bigger hype than when you are using its satoshi value because we all know that bitcoin price is rising so when an altcoin is pumped 100% against bitcoin if you report its price in satoshi you only report that 100% rise but if you report it in fiat you report the 100% rise + bitcoin price rise.
1793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC decision on August 2nd on: July 16, 2018, 05:58:57 AM
i think it is possible that most investors believe that SEC is going to reject ETF this time too because if you look at the price it has not moved at all. it is still in the same price level as it was before. otherwise if they thought SEC is going to approve it this time then they should have started buying bitcoin and price would have gone up. and lets not forget that this is not the first time either.

if my assumption is correct then if SEC actually rejects it this time too, then price shouldn't be affected at all because the market already expected it and never went up to come down now.
but if they do approve it, that will come as a shock to the whole market and we may see a huge FOMO buying action within hours and price can shoot up to $9k$-10k before the day ends.
1794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: INDIA KEEPS BAN IN PLACE,ANY THOUGHTS? on: July 16, 2018, 05:51:37 AM
What a shame that India doesn't want to support cryptocurrencies. They are a huge market which has a huge influence on Bitcoin price. Is there any particular reason why their court decided to allow banks to block accounts of people who buy and sell cryptocurrencies? It's ridiculous that you can't spend your money on whatever you want.

India's Reserve bank doesn't want to support cryptocurrencies as it is true for majority of the banks around the world as they feel threatened by the presence of bitcoin since it is the only decentralized currency big enough to put them out of business so they try their best to fight it back.
the important matter is that their people want bitcoin and don't care much about what their banks are trying to do.
1795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Meaning of Token decimals. on: July 15, 2018, 06:14:35 AM
i believe what you are talking about is the number of decimal places that each coin/token can have. for example bitcoin has 8 so 1BTC is equal to 1.00000000BTC. usually altcoins follow this and they all have 8 decimals. but they can have any other number too.

the thing is, this somewhat shows the supply of the coin. at code level there is no decimals. there is only integers. for example in case of bitcoin, there is no 1 bitcoin, there is only 100000000 satoshi.

so you can look at this way, a token can define 1000 satoshi as its 1 whole unit to have 3 decimals. or it can define 100000000 satoshi as its 1 whole big unit to have 8 decimals. but if it does the first one then you can't compare its supply with others unless you convert all of them to integers then compare.
1796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a reason why Bitcoin has to be the crypto in the future? on: July 15, 2018, 05:56:20 AM
Right now there are technologies that are supposed to excel but no one is known or that is also spread like bitcoin, for example if they all stop mining at the same time, the scale will be resolved promptly. Why can not it be one of ten or twenty or fifty? Each coin has a slightly different utility or structure.

the difference is not always good. the changes that some altcoins make is actually making things worse. some designs are in a certain way because that is how they should be and changing it can cause irreparable damage. but altcoins do change those and introduce new flaws in their systems. and that is the main reason for them not being used.
1797  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does the bitcoin have a future? on: July 15, 2018, 05:39:51 AM
Bitcoin will end badly.

then what the hell are you doing here? get out before sinking with the sinking ship.
oh wait you just decided to create a brand new account to warn us and protect us out of the goodness of your heart. well thank you kind sir, let me go sell all BTC that i have Roll Eyes
1798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think you might be addicted to cryptocurrency trading? on: July 14, 2018, 08:45:12 AM
in a way that's a nonsense question in my opinion. it is like asking someone who goes to work every day to earn a living whether he is addicted to working! as long as you are not gambling and calling that trading, there is nothing wrong with trading cryptocurrencies or anything else for that matter. and it is a valid way of making money and lots of it.
most of the questions that are asked here are not talking about the title they are talking about whether someone knows how to trade or they are fooling themselves.
1799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you with patents on Crypto technology? on: July 14, 2018, 08:42:41 AM
the biggest selling point of a decentralized currency that is using the blockchain technology is that being decentralized part. and that requires to have everything open source and free to use and free to change for everyone who can. that means contribution from every developer in the world who can and care enough to contribute.

when you start patenting stuff and restricting things you are just making things centralized in my opinion and making your project worth less and less.
1800  Economy / Speculation / Re: 71% of e-money forecasts will increase significantly in 2019 in Huobi's report. on: July 14, 2018, 05:16:48 AM
Just as expected no matter how good the analysis is that would just still remain as a pure speculation on where we would head up. We even hardly breached or break out that 7k usd resistance but based on what had been mention price increase to that range would happen on next 6 months which is somehow considerable and possible but basing on how price moves on recent state it would really be hard to believe.
Everything related to this market is speculative, so there is no way to get around it. The only thing we're doing is guessing till we're right or wrong, and then we start all over. It's a never ending cycle.

The only way to lower your exposure to all this short term speculation is to buy for the long term and just ignore everything. You can still read what's going on, but just not actively participate in the speculation itself.

I miss the real OGs that were throwing around with extremely bearish predictions and unsalted opinions, all to mentally wreck people here. Kwukduck is (was) the perma bear but he hasn't shown any signs of activity.

i think he started a new account here and is currently posting with a different account. his own old account was getting too obvious to every single user on bitcointalk and the first reply to all of his topics was becoming the same thing ridiculing him about his dumb statements about bitcoin and how he always said them right at the bottom before the reversal.
