1541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC, ETH, or EOS? on: September 24, 2018, 07:17:57 AM
first of all the term "king of cryptomarket" is a term that newbie bag holders started as they continued losing money while they saw bitcoin is still on top and not going back to its initial price ($900 last year) while their bags were headed for that initial pre-pumped price.

secondly you are confusing a bunch of stuff with each other.
- an altcoin being a good investment doesn't mean bitcoin isn't a good investment!
- bitcoin being on top and remaining there while growing much more doesn't mean altcoins can not be profitable investments.

as for investing in what, it is up to you and your strategy. my strategy is that i accumulate bitcoin and i consider it for long term because an investment needs to have certain characteristics: low risk + high reward. an altcoin investment is high risk  + low reward compared to bitcoin. which is why i only trade altcoins short term and during their pumps and always go back to bitcoin for long term.
1542  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predictions if Bitcoin ETFs are approved on: September 24, 2018, 07:01:42 AM
However, if you see that a physical ETF has been approved, you can certainly expect a good spike in price because then physical bitcoins will be bought from the market by the managing company. It will create fresh fund inflow and increase the demand in the market.

one point remains unclear though. and that is whether these companies have already bought bitcoin to back their proposal or will they only buy when the price goes up? if i am not mistaken ETF proposals suck as that of Winklewoss have already had the backing coins in their pocket so they wouldn't buy after approval. additionally even if they did buy afterwards it shouldn't affect the price since you aim to do the purchase in a way not to affect anything, possibly even buy off-the market or with some shadow orders.
lets not forget that the amount they can buy is fixed and is embedded in the proposal they can not change it. so there wouldn't be an "inflow" of funds. there will be a one time purchase then people will buy the IOUs from them while they have the coins to back it up.

another discussion would be the market reaction in which case the type of ETF wouldn't matter. the market may see the news as positive or a buy signal and start buying hence push the price up as it works with any other positive news.
1543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fight between BTC and BCH communities drive away people from cryptos itself. on: September 24, 2018, 06:55:23 AM
People have their own choice with their own reason. I think BCH and BTC communities just want to pump their coin price. But at the end, market will drive who the best between two coin and i am prefer choosing BTC

I believe in the freedom of choice, but if Roger Ver, who supports an altcoin that was forked and caused a split from the main chain because its developers changed the consensus rules, calls that altcoin "the real Bitcoin because Satoshi's vision" then we have a problem.

I would accept that he would have a point in his debate if he claims that Bitcoin Cash "can be also Bitcoin" but without the gaslighting.

even if every BCH player called it an altcoin and admitted it is not bitcoin that still wouldn't change much in my opinion because BCH can still cause many problems for bitcoin including the hashrate stealing they have done and will probably do in the future. in short they have created something for miners that they can switch to whenever it is becoming more profitable to do so like during pumps or like previously during the manual difficulty changes. that means longer delays in finding bitcoin blocks and a bigger back log.
1544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM CEO: Cryptocurrency Needs Regulation to Survive on: September 24, 2018, 06:47:34 AM
its so needed and obvious for bitcoin and cryptocurrency to be regulated, for safety of users, investors, purpose and general acceptance.

that is only true if we assume the regulations and the government is there to protect you and your money but the reality is not like this. regulations aren't a way to save our asses. the government doesn't care about that. what happens with regulations is that you will continue being scammed and lose money (like exchanges running away) but also you will be paying taxes and experience other limitations because you are complying with some regulations.

yes you are right.. But please tell what will be the solution to increase of bitcoin adoption? Because without government support I don't think the encouragement to use bitcoin will be faster. Because government can ban the advertisement any time.

bitcoin doesn't need the government support to grow. that is the whole point of it! as a decentralized currency it should never seek approval from anyone let alone the government. and if people adopt bitcoin they should be adopting it because of this and other characteristics that comes with being decentralized, not because the government approved it or not.

1545  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 7200 on: September 23, 2018, 06:08:37 AM
the only problem is that $7200 is not an important price level so reaching it has no significance. it is one of the targets that have been passed multiple times during each fluctuation that bitcoin had in the past. drawing some lines on the chart won't guide in this period. everything is random as long as we are below at least $8k and above $6k.

1547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is anonymity the future for bitcoin??? on: September 23, 2018, 05:41:35 AM
I believe the latest bug, that would have made an "attacking miner" inflate the coin supply, proves that the Bitcoin's transparency and auditability on the base layer is the best.

If a hacker exploited a bug that would inflate the coin supply of a "private blockchain", how would the developers tell if there were 1 coin or 1 billion coins inflated in the total supply?

this is entirely off-topic here since it has nothing to do with the anonymity subject being discussed.

as for the "attack", don't forget that any block that used this vulnerability would have been an invalid block. the problem was simply that certain versions of bitcoin core nodes were not verifying blocks for detecting this particular problem so they accepted it as valid. but that  doesn't make the supply inflate, it just made those nodes go on a fork and start an altcoin.
1548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum back at number two on: September 22, 2018, 06:44:56 AM
ethereum has never been number two ever to want to take that position back or give it to something else. it just had a huge market capitalization because of its huge supply and the fact that 72 million out of 101 million coins were premined so it stayed as the second coin with highest market cap which is a meaningless list to begin with. and so far multiple altcoins have shown us how meaningless market cap is and how easy it is to produce enough supply to take the high ranks in that list. XRP with its 100 billion supply is one obvious proof Smiley
1549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WOW, XRP is pumping so fast! What do you think about it?? on: September 22, 2018, 06:34:36 AM
it is just a pump, and a pump doesn't really need a reason. it only needs some deep pockets wanting to make profit from the said coin and these deep pockets or whales have always been in the market. it is not just XRP that got pumped, its just that since XRP is on top of the list you happened to notice it otherwise there are at least a dozen altcoins that are getting pumped, some of them pumped so much more than XRP every week.
1550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Bounty Hunters also considered Investors? on: September 22, 2018, 06:22:32 AM
in my opinion an "investor" is someone who understands what he is doing. just having shares of something doesn't make someone an "investor" really, maybe you can call them "someone who has a stake in the company/token...". in any case the bounty hunters are mostly newbies with a lot of time to waste and with little understanding of the market otherwise they would have spent their time elsewhere and more constructively and with more profit. and they are all looking for a way to hype then pump the token so that they can dump them as soon as possible.
1551  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prediction on: September 22, 2018, 06:13:12 AM
A high percentage of so call predictors predicted this year that bitcoin will drop to some ridiculous price like 1500$, 2000$  and so on I hope the can see that bitcoin is an established coin and stop causing panic amongst traders

first of all you shouldn't even call someone bullshitting you a "predictor". they are idiots and "troll" fits their description a lot better.
secondly their nonsense online is not causing any sort of panic among traders. they may make some newbie panic but newbies are not traders and they don't even have enough funds to affect the market after reading some bullshit comment somewhere on a forum.
you talking about them here is probably the most attention they have received Wink
1552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Core Patch Fixes Bitcoin Network Vulnerability to DDoS Attacks on: September 22, 2018, 06:04:37 AM
the attack is not as easy as that because it will cost a lot of money to perform. practically it will cost a miner 12.5BTC + fees which is currently worth more than $84000 to perform this attack and mine a block with invalid transactions in it which will be rejected by the network. not to mention building on top of it will be on an invalid chain which will also mean more losses.
1553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Updates Crypto Rankings, Downgrades Bitcoin on: September 22, 2018, 05:58:44 AM
again like all the previous times they are ranking the cryptocurrencies based on their centralization factor and they rank the most centralized altcoins on top and the more decentralized and out of their control the coins are the lower their ranks will be.

the interesting thing about this however is the fact that people who have not been giving any shit about China are not so interested in what the Chinese government is saying about altcoins only because the bags they are holding are on top of their list regardless of how much money they are losing Cheesy
1554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VanEck ETF proposal is extended for another 180 days on: September 21, 2018, 05:53:27 AM
just like before SEC is only wasting time before they eventually reject this ETF too. nothing has changed compared to all the previous times they did the exact same thing with their constant delays and postpones. so their decision should not have changed either.

Definitely a good sign looking at Bitfinex...
there isn't any signs anywhere. price is still the same as before with market not even reacting to it in any ways.

Quote
3. Ethereum's price isn't reacting either, so the market is just accepting this news as indifferent.
bitcoin ETF and the decision SEC makes about it has nothing to do with any of the altcoins including ETH!

Quote
4. Whales didn't try to short the news because the short squeeze is too inevitable with trying to push below 6k here.
you don't short bitcoin every day of the week. they just did it recently. there needs to be some time before a "push down" happens otherwise they will lose money just like some of them lost money yesterday when they tried pushing it down and market reacted violently against them crushing these whales.
1555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Merit (MRT) found the way for mass adoption? on: September 20, 2018, 06:40:20 AM
For example, you will be able to perform transfers to mobile numbers or aliases instead of the normal long addresses.

are you talking about "alias" that is stored on its blockchain?
if so then it is  weak in my opinion because if it is truly about mass adoption as you say it is then you will soon run out of easy aliases and will end up with long complicated ones with lots of characters. essentially the same as a "long address"!
the reason why a bitcoin address is long (160 bit hash) is because it is designed for mass adoption so that we never run out of addresses.

imagine there are 10000 people named Herbert who want to use Meritcoin. if i take Herbert name they won't be able to. the next person has to take Herbert + some other string and the 10000th person will end up with something that will be a sentence! so it would be more like first come first have the best names and the rest are screwed!
not to mention that it will open up ways for scam. what if i took the name of something or someone popular? and then scam people with it by asking them to send me money!
1556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is the beginning of the 2019 altcoin'll be back? on: September 20, 2018, 06:29:31 AM
are you asking about altcoins or only about 1 specific altcoin?
because one specific altcoin has a different  case compared to the whole market. the whole market never stopped to want to come back now. the price of most big coins on top was getting dumped while the other coins, the smaller ones specifically, were getting pumped and showing all kinds of potential and giving a lot of profit to the wise investors who migrated there instead of hanging around in the sinking ships.
eventually it will be the turn for bigger coins to be pumped too but for now they will continue to sink.
1557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any Crypto Newbie That Also Find Altcoin Trading Difficult on: September 20, 2018, 06:18:04 AM
trading is not the same as buying and selling and how easy that is. you may had had access to the easiest way to sell your altcoins for fiat directly and immediately but you still wouldn't have been able to earn any profit because that requires expertise.
it is not about buying some altcoin that is on top and bag holding it hoping it gives you profit. it is about knowing which coin out of the 2000 altcoins to choose at any time and also more importantly is to know when to dump that altcoin you bought instead of bag holding it while it loses value since whales dump on you.
1558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe it will become more expensive than bitcoin? on: September 20, 2018, 06:03:06 AM
i don't know where you are getting the trading volumes from but ETH volume was not higher than bitcoin's, not even by a long shot close to it!

besides having high volume only proves that there is pump and dump going on. for example in the past couple of days bitcoin price has been pretty much stable with less than 3% changes. but ETH has been getting dumped as big as 15% and there are whales who are playing with the market at the moment enjoying the money they gain by dumping on filled orderbooks.

all that aside even if ETH wanted to rise up it would never reach bitcoin price because to put simply it has unlimited supply! it  currently is above 100 million while bitcoin is still at 17 million.  pretty soon ETH will worth as much as a grain of sand while bitcoin is still scarce.
1559  Economy / Speculation / Re: The reason why it is stable on: September 20, 2018, 05:54:28 AM
the price is stable right now because a lot of people (you included) who have invested in bitcoin have no idea what bitcoin is and how it works. the only thing they knew when they bought bitcoin was the fact that price was rising and they had a hope for a huge profit out of this "thing" they bought.

if these people started educating themselves about how bitcoin works and what it really is (so they don't make mistakes about basics such as "miners stopped mining"!) then they would have been buying this unique and full of potential decentralized currency instead of letting the whales be the only ones accumulating at these low prices then buy when it went up already.
1560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is anonymity the future for bitcoin??? on: September 20, 2018, 05:44:57 AM
... anonymity or providing privacy ...

these two are not the same thing. for example i may not be anonymous but i definitely have privacy when i am using bitcoin. for example when i pay for something online since the shop doesn't get my personal information they don't know who i am. and also an average Joe on the internet can not do in depth blockchain analysis on my transactions to see how much bitcoin i own and where i spend them or where they come from. and that's called privacy.
