There is no "Bitcoin" to patent anything... on the other hand, there is also no "Bitcoin" to be sued for patent infringement. cant they say each individual user of bitcoin is in patent infringement. That would be hilarious. No court would accept such a case. |

I guess most of you didn't really follow the events on Bitcoinica since the "big squeeze". The starfish appears more often for a reason - Zhou slightly changed the way it works after the incident. Before that, starfish would show up only when Bitcoinica was totally out of reserves and one couldn't even liquidate his positions or withdraw USD. It was changed since then so when Bitcoinica's reserves are depleting, they halt trading in certain direction to maintain their reserves for liquidations and withdrawals. That's why we see the star more often even though it's not "dangerous" as much as it was before.

Current Status - Referral Based Only
Opening an account with FPT&S now requires you to have a current lender refer you. Lenders are not paid for referrals so they have nothing to gain from me but this model allows me to limit the new accounts from unknown, new or untrustworthy members.
I'd make a policy prohibiting members from selling invitations. I know of *cough*ineededausername*cough* someone who surely wouldn't mind selling them for a bitcoin or two. Here's my official line on this: I will not sell referrals to members whom I wouldn't personally trust with at least 100 BTC. |
