@phil...Unless politics will be totally screwy, I am planning to stay put no matter the bitcoin price.
GDP per capita in US is higher than in UK and Germany, albeit lower than in Switzerland and, interestingly, Ireland, which means that salaries are typically higher in US as well.
The long term cap gains are manageable, too, at 20-23.8% (with no taxes on the first 89K for a couple and 15% on the first $553K).
Take 89K per year with no taxes, use it on whatever (regular salary covers everything else): real estate, investment in private companies, etc, etc.
89k is very roughly $1mil house mortgage plus RE taxes in lower RE tax places like California.
In TX, a higher RE tax (was about 1.6%/year, effectively; now prop 4 just passed, so it would be lower by about 15%, so maybe about 1.4%) but you get "more house".

Phil, Biodom,

I have often thought of leaving the USA should I get rich (not quite there yet).  The problem is finding a nice "Plan B" country, which over the years I have given a lot of thought to.  My first inclinations were to look at South & Central America, as I speak the language and have some familiarity with some of those countries.  One country in particular I looked at in detail, as I have nice in-laws there, the food is good, etc.  But the politics of ALL those countries is very volatile, can drastically change on a dime...

Europe sort of looks good, but most is expensive.  And the cultures just different enough so that I would feel like, well, a foreigner.  Europe is pretty diverse, and I have not visited all of the many countries there.  Weather (cold) is an issue that I do take into account as well.  I do understand why many Americans would be happy to look at somewhere in Europe.

I've even visited and looked at Dubai, which has some strong plusses and minuses.  Rest of Asia?  No thanks.

Even with our chaos, the USA still looks relatively good to me vs. all the other countries I have visited and/or examined.

Things can change though, and probably will.  I'm leaving my options open.

Australia
Italy
Argentina

Based on the size of my wife's family and here relatives I have met the three above could work.

My main issue is my wife and I have 3 pensions all paid by US fed government so I would need quite a bit of money to leave the USA.

And I can tell you that miners are loving it.

And at the op miners get paid to guard your wealth. Right now miners are barely hanging in there above water.

This is why people push ordinals to

a) create miner relief
b) make pressure on btc to scale its fees better.
c) give miners  and coin holders the option to say fuck you to btc and switch to scrypt.

>50k CAD is nice to see again.

yes maybe 50k USD will come back this year.

Nice to see buddy post a 36k+

This goes back to may 6th 2022 maybe may 7th 2022 since we had a 36k+ price

that is more than 18 months wait to get back to that spot.
2104  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 09, 2023, 02:47:52 AM
Just sold some at 36303 coinbase.

no it was 36363

maybe we go past 37k

we peaked at about 36633
2105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 09, 2023, 02:06:07 AM
buddy will you just post a 36k and shoot to 37k right after that.
2106  Economy / Speculation / Re: back in 2015 we had a nice pre 1/2 ing streak. on: November 09, 2023, 01:32:20 AM
I still say 42k Nov 30-Dec 1
and 48k Dec 31- Jan 1

some profits taken in Jan brings us to 40k and then upwards and onwards to a new ATH new the ½ ing.

I noticed in your posts that you're generally optimistic rather than pessimistic. I'm not saying you're not realistic, of course. You definitely have bases in your predictions, not to mention that you've been in this game for quite a long while already.

I have a question based on your assessment. Do you see a new ATH on or before the halving? Or if it comes a bit late, still around the halving date? If so, then are we going to surpass $100,000 within 2024 alone?

Dec 2024 or Nov 2024 Ath and may touch 100k in those months.

And as good as that is 2025 will bring numbers that most are too afraid to say.

If you look at any of my posts I am always mostly bullish but never a raging bull. Much more like Ferdinand
the bull.
2107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 09, 2023, 01:26:30 AM
Buddy I am watching the debate to see what moron to vote for prez. I am hoping btc goes so fucking high that I can leave this country in a few years.
2108  Economy / Speculation / Re: back in 2015 we had a nice pre 1/2 ing streak. on: November 09, 2023, 12:52:56 AM
While it'd great to see so much optimism in the first page  I think it would be setting the bar too high to expect 2015-like gains, or gains from any other halving for that matter. Yes institutions are involved now, but there is much more to it, such as:
- Diminishing returns
- More BTC distributed and in circulation
- More profit motivated holders (institutions, hedge funds, etc)
The above could be a good or bad thing. The first two are something to think about though. Returns achieved in a 2015 Bitcoin ecosystem and expecting the same in today's much larger ecosystem is not the best bar to set.

At the same time, seasonality does exist so I don't doubt it will be a positive few months during November, Jan, maybe even Feb too.

It funny you skipped December.

I still say 42k Nov 30-Dec 1
and 48k Dec 31- Jan 1

some profits taken in Jan brings us to 40k and then upwards and onwards to a new ATH new the ½ ing.

Did we briefly top 36k a hour hour ago?

coinbase says 36,113 at 6:46 pm EST

Bitcoinwisdom says $36150 at Bitstamp, a new AYH.

Go Bitcoin go.

When 37k?

Liking this action consolidating at $35k.

Let us not rush things.

Yeah, I much prefer a slower, calmer, incremental rise. Then BANG the long awaited Spot ETF approvals, BANG halving, $250,000 per coin in 2025 Wink

Man, that would be the best day of our life when we see Bitcoin at $250k a coin in year 2025. I think Bitcoin might reach $130k per coin in 2025 but men I wish my prediction to go wrong and instead of reaching $130k Bitcoin may reach $250k and the words from your mouth may become a realty.

why stop at 250k

 500k by dec 2025

Now you made me search  Cheesy
It looks like this post gives a clue: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5157918.msg62980880#msg62980880
I'd say a safe guess is that the reason is plagiarism.

I see somebody was faster in searching too.

But is everything crazy!? So now it's a series of users who presented quality content, who are getting into trouble?
Anyway...

If I present this :

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle field of that war. We come to dedicate a portion of it, as a final resting place for those who died here, that the nation might live. This we may, in all propriety do.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate we can not consecrate we can not hallow, this ground The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have hallowed it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here; while it can never forget what they did here.

It is rather for us, the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion that we here highly resolve these dead shall not have died in vain; that the nation, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

as my work yeah its quality, but its not mine it is  president Lincoln's Gettysburg address

That thread was was a quality thread with a good point. but it appears he did plagiarize on another thread.
2113  Economy / Economics / Re: "I saw my salary on a bottle of perfume today" on: November 08, 2023, 08:54:03 PM
Financial freedom is one of the topics that is always discussed when talking about money, business and investments, but you rarely find a precise definition of this wording, so everyone who talks about it simply talks about having enough money, but it means living a luxurious life without being forced to work, and here  job will be just a choice. Many people complain about their salaries, but what is more important than the salary and job is enhancing your assets so that it generates more and more money and profits for you easily.

to many they would think I am financially free.

to myself I am not financially free.

I have a friend I met in 1996 he is worth over 26 million USD.

More likely he is worth around 45-55 million.

To me he seems financially free.  But I can honestly say financially

free is more than the cash and debt.  My buddy is 77 years old I know for sure he would drop from 55 million to 20 million if he could be 25 years old.

Myself at 66 won't want for money. Yeah I won't be buying $1,000 dollar bottles of perfume for my wife. I won't be drinking $2500 bottles of whiskey.

But I can buy a 100-200 dollar bottle of wine or whiskey when every I want. which is not very often.

What is real financial freedom for me have enough money to buy time. As I would like to be younger for a lot more time.

I think a lot of people that finally get a decent amount of money end up wanting more time instead.
2114  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My s19 90th model is not working properly please help!!! on: November 08, 2023, 08:41:40 PM
Bitmain has the most ridiculous modeling out of all the other companies, however, there seems to be something in common between Bitmain and MicroBT which is the weird PSU requirements, the reasons are beyond me, so I am not going to pretend to know exactly why they do this, but to me, it's just plain stupid,  an example of that would be P21E, P222C and P222B PSUs, these three output 14v DC, have the same input range, but all three are not cross-compatible, I did raise the question many times -- but have yet to get a reasonable answer.

I hope they have a good reason that justifies all this nonsense.

Some angle to make older gear go obsolete.
2115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the irreversibility of Bitcoin transactions a downside for an average person? on: November 08, 2023, 08:40:03 PM
Remember ebay/Paypal?

They basically had a system which sided with the buyers generally. It got to the point where many people stopped selling on eBay altogether because there were too many claims opened against sellers and the transactions were easily reversed and the seller was stuck with no product and no money.

This is a bad centralised system where it doesn't work in general. Hence payments like bitcoin are better because if people can trust one another then it can work as a exchange. Its easier to learn how to spot scams and protect yourself to not get your crypto stolen so you don't have to reverse it rather than have not and have to deal with transactions which can get reversed.

As a long time miner here are 4 'truths'

1) eBay is great if you are buying gear.
2) and eBay sucks if you are selling gear.
3) btc is great if you are selling gear.
4) btc sucks if you are buying gear.

So the irreversibility of BTC makes it very useful for number

 3) selling gear.
2116  Economy / Economics / Re: How Much Does Food Cost in Your Country? on: November 08, 2023, 07:05:46 PM
I am USA based. All sale prices, but there are a lot of sales.

Eggs are now down to $1.20 a dozen
Fucked up treated milk $3.49  a gallon
Good milk not treated $6.99 for a ½ gallon

Pork loin on sale $1.49 a pound
Pork spareribs on sale $2.49 a pound

Whole Turkey $1.99 a pound many are 20 pounds

Chicken drumstick $1.29 a pound
Chicken thigh $1.29 a pound
Boneless skinless Chicken breast $1.99 a pound

ground beef $2.50 a pound
steaks many cuts 8-20 a pound it varies.

Frozen veg 1.29 for ¾ pound

cheese varies
mozzellara untreated $5 a pound
ricotta untreated $4 for 2 pound container.
cheddar untreated $5 a pound

Note USA uses growth hormones to treat dairy in my opinion it is not healthy I do not buy it. I buy untreated dairy it costs more.
As far as I know only the USA does hormones for its dairy. A lot  of the above are 2x the price if you can not find a sale.
2117  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchains do not solve the "byzantine generals' problem" - Offline blockchains on: November 08, 2023, 06:55:19 PM
In 2022 more than 35 countrys were setting the internet offline - in a minimum of 187 cases. Regional and national.

Some people think and market Satoshi Nakamoto was solving the "byzantine generals' problem" by creating Bitcoin. But this is not true.

In a continental and global conflict (war, repression) it is possible to put a lot of people - billions - off the internet. And also natural desasters like solar flares can do harm. The solution of the "byzantine generals' problem" is not an electronic or internet solution.

But:

It is very interesting to see, that a lot of blockchain developers are working on offline blockchain solutions!

Back when I was a kid in the 60's there was a project called "Radio free Europe"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Free_Europe/Radio_Liberty.

It is still around look above. I would think that EFTbitcoin's idea of using a satellite for internet or blockstream could fall into this idea somewhat.

So the restrictive places in the world would still have some access to BTC and other coins.
2118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's happening with Bitcoin transaction fees? on: November 08, 2023, 06:47:37 PM
Most likely once the Ordinals trend starts to fade after the Binance listing, the transactions should go down. This has been happening all year. It has its spikes but eventually people get bored of Ordinals and just move on to something else.

Probably 2 more weeks of this and we should level out. If you need to do a transaction try and get it done on the weekend, most likely you will be able to get a 25sat/byte transaction there, so if you got a segwit address it shouldn't cost too much.

Yeah those looking to drive fees high can not afford to do it on a 365 day basis. So they cycle up when ever they can.

It is nice to earn the extra coin via fees I am earning around 103% a block vs 97% a block
2119  Other / Meta / Re: I am confused as to why this thread was moved to the current section it is in. on: November 08, 2023, 06:40:21 PM
I also simply don't understand if a mod moved it or if the op moved it.

This post was first made on 3rd October and after that, It was not moved according to the ninjastic tool. I am not aware of any other tool if that can find out who has moved this thread but I can at least get some idea if that post that is being moved is recorded on the ninjastic telegram bot. In the above picture, you can see the post was made but I did not find any notification about this post being moved.

Yeah, when any post is moved a notification appears like the following ones:
1:

2:

How do I find that if the post is moved by the op or moderators? if the name written in the place of OP is of moderators then he has moved it (on the ninjastic telegram bot) as in the second picture. And if the OP has moved the topic then his name will be shown in the place of the OP's name as in picture 1.

note* these are my observations and they might be wrong too.
Lastly I do no see why it is in alt coins and not btc.

What am I missing as to why it was placed here.

Could there have been 2 or 3 or 4 other posts in it that very very heavy alt coin based. As I do not see them if they were there.
Well, I don't know who has moved it here for sure in this case because the post's movement notification did not appear in the first place. But after reading this post I think you are right it did belong to the speculation section or in the BTC section. You are totally right, if the OP has moved this topic then he wasted the post of the signature participants but for me, that's not a problem just like you.

Yeah I need 40 posts a week and I am over 100 for the week. As I always posted a lot and it never was a big issue to write a lot of info on the internet. The thread he did was very much in tune with my '2015-2017 pattern Is matching current 2023-?  pattern thread.' It is why I read it and realized it was moved around quite weirdly. So I asked about it here.
2120  Other / Meta / Re: I am confused as to why this thread was moved to the current section it is in. on: November 08, 2023, 05:54:53 PM
It seems to me it has nothing to do with alt coins.

and it belong in

Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Economics > Speculation

I also agree to this.

Signature campaigns will pay for posts in some areas and not in other areas.

Sorry, but this is not a valid reason for moving topics.

Those wearing a signature are the ones that should be careful making responses in the appropriate section, and that includes reading the contents of the post thoroughly as well as reviewing the section.

Yep. Even more, those wearing signatures should expect that topics can get moved with or without good reason.

The post was moved by the OP

Well, since OP is banned (at least that's my bpip extension shows), maybe a mod could fix this (and move it to correct place), please?

I agree moving a topic to a section that helps you gain signature money would be wrong.

But I read it and was confused as to the place it settled it.  Was actually not a bad topic for economics /speculation

as an aside how was he banned?
