Well... about to start prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow.

Kinda worried AF going into it.

If you never hear from me again, it's because I died while being roto-rooted.

At least my liver made a full recovery...

Gentlemen.

I find the prep to be worse than the actual procedure. Assuming a good anesthetist that is.

Yeah prep is the hardest part. I have the legs of a 5foot six inch person and the torso of a 6 foot 6 inch person.  So my colon is

longer than normal. I need 1 and ¼ dose of the the prep.  The doctors argue with me and I end up buying a small size prep on ebay and add it into the regular prep. I also stave for a while eating nothing but chicken broth for 2 days before the prep.
2342  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: ASIC HOMEMADE on: October 26, 2023, 02:51:58 AM
you can get six board controllers.
Aside from the readily-available in the market,
he may be able to fulfil his "Homemade ASIC" objective by modifying the control board schematics available in the internet.
Of course, he need a qualified (ASIC) computer engineer to do this.

I'm trying to think outside the box, analyze the options and cryptocurrencies that exist and look for something that doesn't need to be 0 to 2 thousand dollars a day, but 0 to 10 or 100... maybe.
Some of those who still own those old Bitcoin ASICs do exactly that: they use it to mine low-hashrate Altcoins with compatible algo to earn $0+.

Does an ASIC designed for ETC or KAS or SHA256 only do this? At the hardware level, can it not do anything less than less efficient?
ASIC's full name could be the answer to that question: "Application Specific Integrated Circuit".

Some where there is a thread with the s7 it could do 4 or six boards on the controller .

But like you said it would not be efficient.

The best you can do get an s19xp  and run a board not three.  use the epic controller and set fans real slow.
2343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 02:45:13 AM
All of us who are involved in cryptocurrency have heard and know to some extent about investing and trading. But I know that there are risks in investing and trading. To do these you need to know some basic things and gain experience. The main difference between investing and trading is the investment period, methodology, risk-taking propensity. Whether you are an investor or a trader depends on your financial needs and investment goals. Investing is long-term and involves low risk, while trading is short-term and involves high risk. Both methods can be profitable if the right strategy is adopted.
Which one is better if I want to invest and trade bitcoins.

Investing using dca and dip all hodl for 6-9 years.

100 a week for a year =5200

and have two or three ladder down buys for 1700 or 2600.

Do this for a few years then hodl for a few more years.

or do this for 9 years in a row and assess your stituation.
2344  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: testing epic controller. on antminer s19xp on: October 26, 2023, 02:37:11 AM
Do the math against 97.5% of the Real Hashrate as shown in Braiins OS if you want to compare against "no dev fee"
And don't forget pool fees... Its 0 in Braiins Pool.

I like the physical controller its snappy better ram and cpu chip than bitmain’s controller.

As for using your software vs the controller I will likely stick with yours over this.

I have used

epic
vnish
braiins +
bitmain

all with

 s19a
 s19xp
 s19 pro

I prefer brains+ at this time.

2345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to build a career with bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 02:28:33 AM
One of my older brothers bought bitcoin with that money, instead of keeping it in the bank, about 6 months ago, the price of bitcoin was 24-25k+, and he bought about 1 BTC. The price of bitcoin has increased to 34K+. In just 6 months, he has made a profit of 9k+ dollars, which would have taken more than 20 years to get from the bank. This means that bitcoin can become a millionaire if people invest in it at the right time. I also bought some bitcoins myself and did it by withdrawing money from the bank. Success is not possible if you do not take risks in life. I know how hard it is to make money and if it is to sweat your head and work day and night, then it is worth it. And we can make a lot of income by buying or trading bitcoin with the right rules. I think bitcoin is a bright future for us.

Buy low sell high is not the best way to make a career.

I would argue writing for a signature campaign that you simply hodl the earnings for six to nine years may be better. way to turn btc into a career..
2346  Other / Meta / Re: Why is Halloween not being celebrated in our forum yet this year? on: October 26, 2023, 02:24:38 AM
We are all familiar with Halloween day and we all know about this day. The word Halloween originated around 1745. It originated in the Christian community. The word Halloween' or 'Halloween' comes from the Scottish word 'All Hallows' Eve'. The word Halloween means 'holy evening or holy evening'. Over time, the word 'Hallow's Eve' was transformed into 'Halloween'. The main theme of the Halloween festival is 'to face the power of death through humor and mockery'. About 2000 years ago, Celtic people lived in present day Ireland, England and Northern France. The first day of November was celebrated by them as New Year or 'Sah-win'. They thought it was the end of summer and darkness or the beginning of winter. Surprisingly, the Celtic nation believed that the night of the last day of October was the worst. The night that all ghosts and unsatisfied spirits can harm people. And so members of the Celtic nation wore various types of ghost masks and clothes on this night. They used to go around together in a circle wearing masks and chanting mantras to pass the sleepless night.

We saw in our forum that last year a contest was started to celebrate Halloween from 7th of October but why not this year.

But won't the contest start this year in our forum. I want to know the opinion of the experienced about the start of this contest.

what contest are you talking about sir.

Do you have a link directing me to it?

2348  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS proposes unprecedented data-collection on crypto users on: October 26, 2023, 01:44:48 AM

Do it does not. Just pay your taxes and problem is over.

yeah but isnt paying taxes on crypto outside of most peoples' expertise about how to keep records and calculate it? i know it is for me. so it must be for other people to.  Shocked

Quote from: philipma1957
It is why doing things like selling 2 btc at a 60k loss  that carries over is not that stupid. If you sell btc at a gain a year or more later you pay no tax.

get ready for jail if you're doing that.

https://www.thebalancemoney.com/can-a-capital-loss-carryover-to-the-next-year-2388983
Tax-loss harvesting is when you realize a capital loss on purpose so that you can use it to offset gains and income in the future.

Also, it's going to take you 20 years of dishonesty and lies on your future tax returns to recoup that 60k loss:

The IRS allows you to deduct $3,000 from your taxable income if your capital losses exceed your capital gains.
Capital losses beyond $3,000 can be rolled over to next year to offset capital gains and ordinary income.

Well last year I lost 59k in cap gains. long term .This year I have 9,000 in gains short term.

It is impossible to know you will have a short term gain. thus I did not tax  harvest the 9 k.

and the 59k is directly apliable to the 9k. which will leave me 50k for next year.

Tax harvesting applies more is all your shit is long term since you already know there is a gain you can take.

When I choose to take that 59k lose i zeroed out every coin I owned. paid debts and used to cash to allow me to continue to mine.
So I did not tax harvest.

Another advantage of mining over just buying coins.

Well... about to start prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow.

Kinda worried AF going into it.

If you never hear from me again, it's because I died while being roto-rooted.

At least my liver made a full recovery...

Gentlemen.

Relax. It's the best you can do. I was swallowing half an inch thick tube at my gastroscopies (2x), the (one) colonoscopy was not even half as stressful.
It might like twitch every now and then, in a diffuse way, can't describe it. If your doctor is not a completely dumb prick, all will be well.

My anesthesia doctors name was  wait for it Igor.
I would like to say the doctor’s name doing the actual colonoscopy was Frankenstein but sadly it wasn’t

I passed 1 tiny polyp nice pink color and it was non cancerous.

I need to do one in two years.

The men in my family that get cancer usually get prostate cancer and it is usually fatal.

I get checked for it 2x a year.

-snip-
So we have to thank perma and anti-bitcoin like Jim, sometimes we need this kind of "entertainment" in the market.
Get entertainment while enjoying profits.
Jim Cramer is indeed a reliable entertainer LOL.

See in 2021 how he sold his Bitcoin holdings and now wants Bitcoin to go lower because he wants to get a cheaper price,
but in fact he was abandoned by Bitcoin and now Bitcoin reached a price of $35k++.

https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2023/10/11/mr-bitcoin-is-about-to-go-down-big-jim-cramer-expects-lower-prices/

he is a mad genius. I did a sale at 33333 today.
BTW, you sold at a unique price of 33333, how long did you place the order?
Maybe I will set a sell order at 111111,

I placed the order an hour after we dropped from 35000 at coinbase to 32800.

I placed a second order at 34343.40 at the same time. both cleared. I am USA based so the gains on these two sales will wash against my sales made last year at a loss.

I do have a 111111 sale order placed.

We want BTC at 40k within a week! Go BTC no-one can stop you! Wink

yeah 40k by Nov 11 sounds good to me.
2352  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS proposes unprecedented data-collection on crypto users on: October 25, 2023, 09:11:39 PM
...but if you are a casual trader who, let's say, has less than $30k of tax obligations in a year, you are highly unlikely to be audited.
I don't live in the US, but I understand that this type of scenario might come up in our country as cryptocurrencies gain more popularity. The term "obligation" clearly implies that we, as taxpayers, need to ensure that we maintain proper records of our trading activities. It's like we become business entities responsible for maintaining financial statements to determine our tax liabilities. I bet not all profitable crypto traders are really committed to reporting their tax obligations. Some might not even keep track of their trading transactions.

I'm curious about the consequences of failing to report. What kind of sanctions could we potentially face if the IRS decides to conduct a thorough audit?

If you are using exchanges that don't report to the IRS, then the activity on those exchanges may have well never existed at all...
Sure that's true, but are we gonna trust these exchanges?

BTW I'm not advocating that people cheat on their taxes, just relaying info from a knowledgeable source.

You know, there's this saying that goes, "It's only called cheating if you get caught." But if you can employ some accounting tricks that make your actions appear legally as "tax avoidance," then there's probably no risk involved.

It is why doing things like selling 2 btc at a 60k loss  that carries over is not that stupid. If you sell btc at a gain a year or more later you pay no tax.
2353  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS proposes unprecedented data-collection on crypto users on: October 25, 2023, 09:07:00 PM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/irs-proposes-unprecedented-data-collection-crypto-users

The IRS is looking to require crypto service providers to collect unprecedented swaths of data about their users — including names and Social Security numbers.

i'm sure coinbase already does that but i guess now they want even more places to do that like decentralized exchanges...hmm Angry

Recalling back to 2021, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was about building roads, bridges, and the like — it was not about cryptocurrency or financial reporting. It wasn’t until funding was desperately needed to offset spending that members of Congress slipped in two provisions to increase financial surveillance over cryptocurrency users. Their argument was that increasing surveillance would increase tax revenue, effectively accusing cryptocurrency users of tax evasion.

bitcoin is not for usa people. period. not after this type of thing. who wants to be a sitting duck? being involved in crypto just puts a big X mark on your back if you're a usa citizen...

Do it does not. Just pay your taxes and problem is over.
2354  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2023 end game sentiment check on: October 25, 2023, 05:38:21 PM
I understand that the poll lacks options. There is not one for a moderate price increase, as I think it will happen, say between 35 and 50K. That it is not there and that ATH's option is there before the end of the year seems like a joke.

Poll aside, I am cautiously optimistic. With the time of the cycle we are in, half a year away from halving and with the recent rally, I think we will end the year a little higher than we are now, with ups and downs from here to there, of course.
more logical that we can get a bitcoin price between the range of $35k to $50k given the recent sentiment that has emerged, we can get a fairly balanced mid at $40k by the end of the year before continuing closer to the ATH of the previous bitcoin cycle.

The choice is quite ironic but we don't have many options for polls on that choice, yes btcoin's volatility will tend to stretch upwards and continue to try to break its latest support as time goes on in the late winter market, now it feels a little warm towards the bitcoin halving. I myself actually agree with you that it is quite optimistic for bitcoin to continue its rise, but I hope bitcoin returns first to the price level of $ 26k and lower than that, because I regret a little earlier not buying more bitcoin at a price level that is fairly low from the current price.

Just passed 35k and back down to 34 k.

I am thinking we do a big move up before the weeks end 40k may be in danger.
2355  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2023 end game sentiment check on: October 25, 2023, 04:22:29 PM
We dont have a great deal of time left in 2023 but speed can pick up & BTC tends to run in these last few months.  Even main markets can sometimes spark into something around the December or winter months, maybe its because of holidays that movement is more notable to occur then over the summer where for centuries a noted drift has been fable.   My theory is the shorter days alter peoples habit and mood to trading even while BTC is global its altered by dollar monetary flows.

Any answer you feel like is correct.  Im not asking for a precise prediction just mostly a thumbs up or down, its purely the idea that peoples feeling alter and sometimes market effects are ironic; its worth noting how bullish the crowd is.

7 day poll & you may alter your vote later.  If you can come up with a better poll option I'll add it on just for you  Cool

45-48k. is not sideways or an all-time high, but we are likely to settle near this for dec 31.

So I wish you had give a choice like  "up nicely 40-55k"

or something like it. that would be my pick.
2356  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 25, 2023, 02:41:53 PM

In a place where you can't disagree safely, it's not about growing; it's about keeping control.
But when you can talk freely, it's more about trust and respect, which help things grow.

Free talk is only valid if you are not lying and manipulating with your use of speech.

Too many hide behind free speech and tell endless lies or "alternative facts".

BTW I love the use of the term "alternative facts"

A good example of alternative facts is the various stories surrounding General Custer.

The famous General of Custer's Last Stand.

This is a piece of US history in the 1866 to 1876.

Much like the history of Christopher Columbus it has many alternative facts.

If you gather all the facts about Custer and or Columbus you can realize just how much intention was behind the conflicting info.
2357  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I learned about airgapped wallets on: October 25, 2023, 02:35:23 PM
What you said is right; it's just that most of the communities in this forum are already aware of what you described, and the novices are already aware of what you said. All that is required for proper implementation is the proper implementation.

In addition, even though I don't have a hardware wallet other than the electrum wallet I use, I haven't had any issues as long as I know the private key and seed of my personal wallet address account. My account is absolutely secure. Furthermore, it is vital to always update when the electrum notifies.

You must triple check all electrum updates to be sure it was a valid notification.

Other than that I feel you are doing a good job staying secure.
2358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 25, 2023, 02:32:48 PM
You don't need to leave your country for some law be imposed to citizens or BTC users because it will make you to lose so many things that your generation will need to fight since you run away for such issues in your country. The way I saw the case going in the court, I get confident on that case that it will favour bitcoiners and it will bring  more opportunities that will increase bitcoiners in the country because, some don't want to show their faces as a bitcoiners until those bitcoiners involved in the case ssucceed and be favourfrom  court before they will come out openly.

If this government allow bitcoiners to be persecuted because of this law, it will surely affect some of their politicians in the country because there is no way bitcoiners will support any presidential candidates again, and it will cause many to loose their presidential election.

Look as a guy that has a family history of IRS work I now feel the USA government has lost its way when it comes to taxing.

The USA has not had a plus budget in over 22 years.  Which means it uses taxes as an arm of the law to punish people not as a way to better people.

Hey I am 66 my wife is 67. We are not poor but we are not rich.
I was born in the U.S.A. I pay my taxes. My mom worked for the I.R.S. 24 years My wife worked for the I.R.S. for 33 years.

I get 2 federal pensions from the USA government.
My wife get 1 federal pension from the USA government.
Our health care is directly linked to the U.S.A. government.

For me to replace all of the above I need 100btc at 34500 each or 3.45 million USD.

So obviously I am not fighting or running I don't have anywhere near 25btc no less 100btc.

So I am staying U.S.A. based and simply paying taxes while I report everything.

In fact I am now advertising a mixer and carefully prepping to pay taxes on my mixer earnings. I am afraid to use the mixer

service.

As I could lose my federal pensions

But U.S.A. does allow for free speech so I have  decided to do my part by doing a mixer signature.

I feel it does show support to people that want privacy and do not want poor tax policies.

yeah thinking 120,000 by dec 31 is greedy.

I have a 33-36 slot til Thanksgiving in mind then 45-48k by dec31

but as JJG says I am too bearish.
