I don't understand the name calling of the president by people at all.
Snip of trumps hilarious nicknames

Yeah I don't even think Trump is upset when people call him names like this, the guy is literally the king of nicknames and making them stick. I think most people who were involved/keeping track of politics during the 2016 Republican primary will NEVER forget Lyin Ted, Little Macro, and Crooked Hillary.

Top tier nicknames. Some would even say marketing genius.

Like -- You've not even linked to the true article anyway.

But I think it's fair to note this very simple thing. Did Churchill and the Americans draft up a 'final solution' to mass kill people? No. Alright then these things cant even be compared, that's it.

I really should just stop responding to your threads. It would probably be better for my mental health.

Except... unless your were with Churchill and the Americans around the clock, you don't know what they drafted up and used without telling other people. Do you really think that all the orders that were handed down in WW2 were made public, or were even known to exist other than by the few in the chain of command?

You essentially haven't responded to this thread. You only look like you have. Make some sense.

Cool

You're openly saying that Churchill and the Americans commited war crimes that were comparable in some way to Hitler.

Is there any evidence to support this conclusion? No. Not at all.

Even in the US -- which had Japanese internment camps, there was no 'final solution' for the Japanese people. Millions of Japanese civilians (or people of any race, religion, national origin, etc) weren't exterminated.

You're a psycho.

I went back and looked briefly at the OP.

I wasn't there... WW2. Were you? There's a record of a historian, whose work is directed at in the OP, who says that Churchill and the Americans were worse than Hitler. So, why are you calling me a psycho?

You have the wrong guy. If you don't believe the historian, why aren't you calling him a psycho? Sounds like you have your mind made up so firmly, that to even show writings of a historian that says something different than what you like to hear, is something that causes you to go immediately bonkers.

Is it possible that you are an ostrich with your head in the sand?

Cool

I don't think I'd call this guy a historian. If he beleives that Churchill/Americans were as bad as someone who exterminated millions upon millions upon people. It doesn't matter what these groups potentially planned, or could have planned. They didn't do things that were as horrible as Hitler and that's a fact.

Anything else is wrong.

Big fan of how this bet was laid out. Makes both sides feel as if they're not cheated in the event of something catastrophic happening or in the event that some Republican senators flip on Trump.

Can't wait to see how this turns out. I'm assuming this sort of betting is also present on ugh -- ETH decentralized sites -- probably not with the same amount of clauses though.

How did you even go from excessive saliva flow to god and bible? Cheesy

When I had dental braces such things were completely normal. I'd wake up on a wet pillow every morning and sometimes even drip like that guy. Maybe he has a toothache or his prosthesis isn't sitting well. Rabies makes you foam at the mouth not drip.

Oh look at this, a rational view being shared on Politics and Society based on something thinking with their brain. Isn't that something.

Everyone knows that something like this could happen, and the person probably assumes if they attempted to clean it it will cause more of a fuss. It probably looks worse because it's a picture by the way, I doubt this is something that was GUSHING out of him.

Relax folks.

He might be one of those /r/LateStageCapitalism far leftists, seeing the DPRK as a lesser evil to the imperialist USA.

Maybe. The US has probably done more evil than any other country in history, so it's easy to view it as "The Evil Empire". But it's only done so much evil because it's long been by far the most powerful country. If North Korea, Iran, or China were as powerful as the US, they'd do even more evil because they are built upon more evil ideologies, and they are more authoritarian. Unless you can somehow chart a very clear path between your actions and some wider utilitarian good, IMO it's not morally justifiable to help these oppressive regimes.

I'll be interested to see what this guy has to say for himself.

Yet again, I agree with Theymos. Still waiting for a time to see if we'll disagree.

But yeah -- there's no way to stay in power this long while being goody goody to everyone around ya. But at the end of the day, I would never say that the US is on par with countries that have willingly caused atrocities such as Nazi Germany.

I do think that this guy was in the wrong though, we'll see what the case ends up looking like though.
1567  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump has declared war on water saving toilets and it’s hilarious (15 times) :) on: December 08, 2019, 11:45:55 PM
Yeah this is about low flush toilets. Just to start off, here's the definition from Wikipedia on what a low flush toilet is and does.

A low-flush toilet (or low-flow toilet or high-efficiency toilet) is a flush toilet that uses significantly less water than a full-flush toilet. Low-flush toilets use 4.8 litres (1.3 US gal; 1.1 imp gal) or less per flush, as opposed to 6 litres (1.6 US gal; 1.3 imp gal) or more. They came into use in the United States in the 1990s, in response to water conservation concerns.[1] Low-flush toilets include single-flush models and dual-flush toilets, which typically use 1.6 USgpf for the full flush and 1.28 US for a reduced flush.

Though if you are to go to the wikipedia page regarding low flush toilets you'd find this being a problem

The early low-flush toilets in the U.S. often had a poor design that required more than one flush to rid the bowl of solid waste, resulting in more water used than a single flush of a standard toilet. In response, U.S. Congressman Joe Knollenberg from Michigan tried to get Congress to repeal the law[clarification needed] but was unsuccessful.

In 2011, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that, while low-flush toilets are estimated to have saved the city of San Francisco 20 million gallons of water per year, the reduction in water volume caused waste sludge to back up in the city sewer pipes, designed expecting a higher ratio of water to solids. The city was attempting to solve this by adding chlorine bleach to the pipes, a proposal that raised environmental objections.[3] In house drain system design, smaller-diameter drain pipes are being used to improve flow by forcing waste to run higher in the pipe and therefore have less tendency to settle along the pipe.

May be some truth to this statement. Though I do want to see what the EPA says regarding this whole thing.

Without a doubt a great game. What other sorts of web activities / web design / web backend work do ya do? Might inquire about those services.

I am not pro-developer. I am rather a finance professional and my work includes financial audits of companies and taxation consultancy. I learn and do coding out of interest. I have learnt various coding languages in last 7 years in my free time and brushing those to professional level since last 5-6 months. So I don't have a portfolio. Also I am not interested to work for someone or take freelancing job. My only motive of learning coding is to develop something original and giving tangible shapes to my ideas.  Smiley

Just saw this now but this is pretty cool. Weirdly enough our fields of interest actually do cross paths.

I without a doubt respect the not wanting to work someone and just doing this for fun, that's amazing and a change of pace in this day and age.
1571  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Billionaire vs Billionaire in the US 2020 Presidential Elections. on: December 05, 2019, 06:48:19 PM
The progressives are going to be pissed if this happens.

They could easily avoid being pissed if they just turned up to vote. Voter turnout particularly in primaries is so low that just by putting down their twitfacephones for 15 minutes they could elect Bernie Warren whoeverthefucktheywant.

Yeah but why do that when you can just complain about everything afterwards when you didn't even try to help change the forces in your state?

Honestly in a good deal of places, like New York, if you can mobilize another hundred of so thousand people (which truly isn't much when it comes to the total population of new york) you could change the fate of the delegate count.

But: People just don't vote in these primaries and a small percentage of people decide the fate of the election.

1572  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Vape Products Shouldn't be Banned on: December 05, 2019, 03:30:33 PM
I don't understand the hatred towards vapes when people are literally dying every year because of cigarettes.
IMHO only government hate vape products because they will lose a big chunk from their tax income if more people start using vape instead of cigarettes.

But that's not the case fully. The US government (States and Local governments in particular) would be able to regulate vape products and place a sin tax on them as well. Do I think this is the right thing  to do? No. Because I do truly think that vape products are used by adults to ease off the health issues when it comes to using cigarettes.

Government should have never become reliant on the taxes that they got from cigarettes and such, that's an issue in and of itself. They should be cutting their expenses in order to not have to rely on sin taxes, but they're not going to do that because government is government. They're going to spend more, complain about less taxes, ban things, tax more things, and so on.

But a boy can dream.
1573  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why are Africans not using cryptocurrencies? on: December 05, 2019, 03:25:10 PM
Strange. Can you provide the source of the following?

"The continent is home to over 50 percent of the world’s mobile money services"

This percentage looks quite exaggerated. Africa is quite behind other continents when it comes to the usage of the internet (even in 2019):

+1 here. You're not going to be able to use Crypto if you're unable to use the internet.

You're also not going to be able to use the traditional methods of transfer that are taken for granted in the US --> Look at Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle, etc.

Africans can only begin to use Crypto when they have heap, free, and plentiful internet. There's no other way for them to use this tech without it. Now we can sit here all day long and debate if you can use 'crypto usb sticks' or something along those lines.

But we have to push internet to them first.
1574  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donald Trump Impeachment Hearings [serious discussion] on: December 05, 2019, 03:21:17 PM
Pelosi just asked Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff to go forward with drafting the articles of impeachment. Voting could begin in the House Judiciary by the 9th, with the full House vote on the 16th.

https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/impeachment-inquiry-12-05-2019/index.html

The biggest part of this is what will the articles of impeachment include. If they include just Ukraine, then Democrats are going to be united in voting and passing this. But if Pelosi caves to the pressure from the left and adds in other allegations they have against Trump -- obstruction, gaining wealth while in the office, etc -- then they're going to have a hard time keeping their caucus united.

I want to see what these articles look like, it will define what comes next.
Given they got zero documents that they subpoena'd.. and yet documents were delivered to citizens that used the FOIA process, obstruction is guaranteed to be on the list. I saw a potential list that included obstruction of congress and obstruction of justice. Obstruction was on the list for Nixon and Clinton as well even though they did turn over documents freely, while not turning over others.

Oh I'm not talking about obstruction for Ukraine, I'm talking about obstruction in regards to the Mueller probe into Russia. So it's a bit different here. I'm also unsure if they're going to include obstruction when it comes to Ukraine b/c of the fact that the Presidency doesn't typically have to provide information relating to subpoenas if they are to deem it executive privilege. (Which is obviously then tested in court, it is currently being tested)

We'll see what the courts decide, though I don't think we'll have this done b/c of the fact that the Dems are really rushing this process.
1575  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Billionaire vs Billionaire in the US 2020 Presidential Elections. on: December 05, 2019, 03:18:34 PM
I still think that if the Democrats were to pick Bloomberg, this is going to be hysterical. The Democrats have had a very large anti wealthy sentiment, they've been pushing things that the rich don't like (Wealth Tax, Higher Cap Gains taxes, etc)

But if Democrats do truly end up picking Bloomberg, that means that they've dropped a good deal of this anti Billionaire sentiment and they're willing to pick another Billionaire from Manhattan (as Trump is from NY,NY as well) to see if they can take down Trump.

The progressives are going to be pissed if this happens.
1576  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia as an empire has no place at the Olympics on: December 05, 2019, 03:12:47 PM

during communism sport was something more hobbylike professional boxing was banned among others.

I beg to disagree, DDR was notorious for their doping. Communist countries saw sport as a way of propaganda, so they really went all in( not just them ofc) . Those were different times though, less money in sports.

Oh yeah. Most (if not all) of the communist countries would dope the hell out of their athletes because if they were to bring a medal back home they'd be able to continue the whole 'we're still the best in the world, obviously'

UN is obsolete and you can't deny hard working people who dedicated their life to sport just because you don't like their country. Fortunately your anger has no power.
God Bless!

What? Russia does have no place at the Olympics and the OP is right. You shouldn't be allowed to continue to participate in international sports like this if you're going to be doping on a country level and trying to hide it, skirting rules through bribes and so on. This should be open and shut.
1577  Local / India / Re: Self-styled Indian Guru has floated his own country allowing CryptoCurrency on: December 05, 2019, 03:09:25 PM
Not really a country without territory. Last I heard from Roger Ver's on project, he's still looking for land to buy, assuming any country would be willing to sell land that they'd lose sovereignty over.

In the meantime, just treat this project with caution like with any new investment. I'd be wary of the guy just based on his status with the police. But then again, this movement can turn out like Mormonism and being an early adopter pay off later.

Seems like he bought an Island from the Vice article though. So I assume he does have land.

The only reason this guy is doing this though is because he has a rape allegation on him and he doesn't want to be tried. Cryptocurrency has just came forth because he thinks that he can make some money off of it.

This is stupid, and nothing is going to come out of it.

See the crazy thing is the difference in how two of the big world powers in the world treat these types of things.

In the US -- using facial recognition on your phone is a feature, it's something that you may buy a phone for because it saves times when you're signing into your phone.

In China -- Facial recognition is being forced on you. Before phones even had it, China had been implementing facial tracking tech all over the country and now they're forcing this on you.

China uses this to oppress you. The US companies use this as a feature that people like.
