581  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: August 24, 2013, 06:30:58 PM
Today we had a difficulty change.

Yes, but AM appears to have completely stopped hashing... I know it is about 2 am in China, so worried this issue might not be resolved for a some time...  Question for anyone that knows about chips:  is it possible that the first gen chips after started failing after hashing for so long?

Could also be bad luck.
582  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: August 23, 2013, 06:42:17 PM
There are ~25 BTC per block. If 10 companies spend the equivalent of 5 BTC to get a crack at that, nobody wins.

It is definitely not that simple. The economics and strategic considerations get pretty complicated. Not to mention there are many unknowns.

There will certainly be losers, but there will also be winners.

I may be wrong, but the + symbol probably represents relative price since the last trade, not whether it's a buy/sell.
584  Economy / Securities / Re: [HOWTO] Trading/Buying/Selling Asicminer Shares Overview and Comparison on: August 22, 2013, 09:56:24 PM
Hm... i hope the new owner is trustworthy. I mean it would be really bad if DeadTerra is selling and the new is selling the real shares or so.

The new owner is BitFunder itself (Ukyo).
585  Economy / Securities / Re: [HOWTO] Trading/Buying/Selling Asicminer Shares Overview and Comparison on: August 22, 2013, 08:32:25 PM
Not sure if I read it correctly, but it seems Deadterra is going to stop his PT? Am I correct?

He is supposed to be transferring to a new operator. Not sure when though.

Exports are locked for it though.
586  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] TAT.ASICMINER New Micro-share Passthrough! on: August 22, 2013, 07:54:17 PM
Curiosity question, if you have X shares (where X is a multiple of 100), does this PT offer the possibility to trade them into direct shares?

Please refer to the asset description, this information is covered.

Thank you!

I must be reading over it (since English isn't my native language)

I assume this is the line which covers it? "Quantity and Source of Shares
Shares cannot be imported or exported by shareholders, but can be freely bought and sold. Shares may be imported at will by the issuer alone"

Which would mean "no, you can't convert to direct shares"?

Correct Smiley

Just popping in with an update that I've been flying all day and that's why I haven't paid out our various TATI AM PT divs as quickly as usual.

I'm back and catching up now.

592  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BTC Growth: Capital Growth via Hedge Fund-Style Investing on: August 16, 2013, 05:31:49 PM
Do you think that a 0% per annum of AUM and 25% of profits would be a better incentive than the typical 2/20 hedge fund system?

I find it interesting that you could be losing us money whilst still making 2% year over year.

Many variations exist, and I'm sure other people would make the relevant judgement calls in different ways. Folks should not participate in the fund if they have any reservations whatsoever about its structure.

EDIT: Also how many hours until you close the IPO? I am interested.

As I indicated in the thread about the mechanics of the IPO, I will review the listing Saturday morning UK time and will close the initial ask order if any shares remain at that time; I didn't specify an exact number of hours to go. The offering has now been open for over 28 hours, and it appears that the bulk of current demand for it has been met. As of this writing, 1230 of the initial 20,000 tranche remain.

People are beating around the bush. What they mean to ask is whether this tranche will sell out without new shares being placed for sale. The flippers are waiting.

Im actually quite happy to have bought AM shares back in the GLBSE days and i'm looking forward to buy more.

I found this: https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=AM1

Is this a legitimate way to purchase AM shares? The text there sounds like AM is in contract with havenlock investments?

Actually if you buy one of these PT shares you have a contract with Thick As Thieves who has a contract with Havelock.

There's no contract with Havelock. When you buy a TATI PT share, we hold "real" shares for each represented share.

Where are you, speculators of 0.04BTC per share?

Blade payments are delayed, because AM does its own escrow service - reseller sends funds to AM address, which are not used for dividends until miners are sent/delivered. This is going to happen on friday possibly. So - one week delay ;-)

Hmmmm.

Then how do you explain the fact that AM paid out dividends double the amount as they made in mining income per share...?

We will be conservative in our estimate here - that AM averaged 50 TH/s (they didn't, it was a bit lower) and that the difficulty was 31256960 for all of the past week (it wasn't, it was higher part of the time).

That comes out to ฿5,631.30. Divided across 400,000 shares, that gets ฿0.01407825/share. There was supplemental income from somewhere.

Don't forget they are still selling USB miners.
595  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] Crypto Currency (CFIG) Official Thread on: August 14, 2013, 10:49:23 PM
Currently there is over a $20 difference between the price of a BTC on Virtex and the price of a BTC on MtGox. I could be making a fortune if I had an account with Crypto Financial right now. I could buy cheap BTC on Virtex and sell on MtGox for a $20 profit on each BTC. From what I can tell getting fiat on and off MtGox is very difficult as there is no easy way to link MtGox with your bank account. I wonder why some snowbird with a US account is not making some money on this huge spread between the two. The fact that there is such a large spread points to the need for an international Bitcoin friendly bank.

Once the gap can be closed, it will be closed permanently. Arbitrage exists BECAUSE of delays and obstacles, and to some degree, ignorance. Remove those and the arb goes with it.
596  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] [TAT.VIRTUALMINE] Virtual Mining - Hash Without Hardware! on: August 14, 2013, 10:22:41 PM
Anyone care to speculate or know what will happen to this PMB for the future? As far as I can see, the dividend per share is dropping every 12 days, and obviously the share price too. Is there a cut-off? Will there be a point whereby divs are so low that the Fund will be abandoned?

It's possible that we'd do a buyback if volume died off and the divs were miniscule. I'm not sure how far away that is though, there is still decent volume, and no one truly knows how quickly the diff will increase in the future.
