How about posting them here: https://forum.litecoin.net/

Please!

+1

why don't the litecoin guys running the forum offer to take it all on at least then they can organise it .

and it's all traffic!

I'm sure the Litecoin forum mods don't want the crap coins on their hands.  Traffic or no traffic...
1942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 03:34:16 PM
Why is there always regulation needed ? Feeling unsafe ?

Why not just ignore specfic threads ? You feel obligated to click on any anouncements ?

Just for myself, i'm pretty new in this forum. But I learned already to ignore the mass anouncements. Currently i do not have any problems with it. Let the peoples enjoy it, if they feel happy to jump on any *** coin.

Regards,
Luke

Regulation facilitates stability.  Sure, we like volatile markets... that's what the trading aspect of crypto is all about.  But most of us, it's a long term investment.  Whether that be with mining equipment or just purchasing coins.  The problem is that instead of focusing on one or two STRONG coins in their portfolio, people are spreading themselves thin on crapcoins and there is no growth.

Feeling unsafe?  No, I'm not an idiot.  I know how to watch out for scammers.

As far as ignoring the mass anouncements... it's becoming more difficult to do so.  This subforum has become a sad place.  I used to come here to read the [ANN] threads about services and developments on existing coins.  It's just not the same, and honestly it's disheartening.
1943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 04:10:27 AM
I think vaginacoin is jumping the shark and we might already be close to a turning point.

+1 for the reference.

I thought the same thing about a turning point yesterday or the day before when I saw more posts about LTC than new coin announcements on the first page.  I was wrong.
1944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 03:21:51 AM
Oh nice, now we can tell you all about all the coins we are NOT launching(*), all the ones that we didn't want to clutter up the forum with...

An additional benefit of all these coins is there are no orphans, because the miners who have been mining them, having heard about them person to person in a friend to friend fashion that avoids spamming the forum, have already brought their difficulties up to a nice stable level where orphans are rare...

Tongue

(*) Not launching because we already launched them, we just were politely not cluttering up the forum with launch announcements about them...

-MarkM-

Announcements that would be removed, therefore cleaning up the subforum.  That's the key.  Go ahead and announce your intent to release the coin.  But that original post will contain no links to binaries or code, pools, or secondary sources of info.  Just a "this is what this coin is all about" and a poll on whether it should be released in this forum.  Go ahead and let it be friend to friend to friend info passing through PM.  At least this subforum won't be a breeding ground for crap.

Like I said, something needs to happen.  Enough of us are getting tired of it... so let's do something about it.
1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 03:14:19 AM
I think this is a bad idea. Bunch of people gang up on a coin they don't like for one reason or another and it gets chucked.

There's enough smart mods here to come up with a system to make this happen.  I know Salty mentioned not implementing something like this in his "Declutter Solutions" post, but this is getting ridiculous and hurting the overall status of crypto.  We were starting to get to the point where we were starting to be taken seriously.  Now we have people wanting to mine vaginacoins, ffs.
1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 03:09:42 AM
How about posting them here: https://forum.litecoin.net/

Please!

There was an "official alt-coin forum" made for all this.  I'd be happy if people just posted there, but lets be honest... Bitcointalk is the holy mecca of crypto.
1947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 03:04:42 AM
An intent to release is posted in this forum with a poll in place.  If by the end of a specified period of time it gets a majority vote, it is allowed to have a place in the forum.  If it doesn't the post is deleted by a mod and any future posts regarding it's release are swept under the rug.  At least that way we can clean this subforum up a little.

I would be open to other suggestions on how it could work, but that's just the quick thought I had right now in my head.
1948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A solution to the crapcoin announcements on: June 01, 2013, 02:57:49 AM
Let's face it.  These damn fly-by-night new coin announcements are annoying as shit.  Not only are they crudding up the forums with spam and additional scammers, but they're hurting the overall cryptocoin ecosystem.  There are a lot of people that say, "but this coin does this different" or "it should stop after coin x, because the rest are shite."  I'm not going to lie, I mined some of them.  FC2 because it was the first time I was able to solo mine something and get full blocks.  I mined YAC too, and I think it's got something going for it, but not to the point where I'm dropping money on it.  But now there's vaginacoins and (insert country name here) coins, and fastcoins, and slowcoins, and who-gives-a-shit coins.  It's getting ridiculous.  We need to stop it.  So here's my proposal...

All new coins need to be voted on before they're allowed to be announced or released on this forum.  Whether that be by poll, or by a group of mods/cryptocoin leaders that are well respected and trusted.  If it gets a majority vote, it can be announced.  If it fails, it doesn't get the time of day in the forums.  If people try to post anyway, the post is deleted by a mod.  Fuck em.

I used to like hanging out in this subforum because I learned a lot about LTC and such.  Now I don't even want to look in here because of the 8,000 new coins posted everyday.

There are enough people here that are seriously getting tired of it.  So stand up and do something about it.
1949  Economy / Goods / Re: BTC Gear offering 25% all computer and gaming glasses - Sale ends Friday! on: May 31, 2013, 03:42:44 AM
I'm don't know jga, and I'm not affiliated with him or Gunnars in any way, but I can vouch for the product itself.  I can honestly say that since I purchased my Gunnars (about a year ago on Amazon), I've experienced less eye strain and therefore less headaches at the end of the day, every day.  In fact, I would say that it's almost completely eliminated.  I work IT for a school district, and I spend most of my day in a CLI.  Anyone that has punched away at a linux prompt for hours on end can tell you that by the end of the day, you have tunnel vision and your eyes have taken a toll.  Also, sitting under fluorescent lights can double the strain.  My Gunnars made a world of difference.  Not only to they truly increase contrast and make things clearer, but the lenses are designed to magnify things slightly at the edge of the glasses, so it almost feels like your focused field of view is larger.

Now mind you, you look like a tool wearing yellow tinted glasses.  However, they do make clear lenses as well.  They are much more expensive, but I'm sure they're worth it if you're computer use requires accurate clear color recognition.  They take about a day or two of all day wearing to get used to them, but you'll notice the difference right away.  Also, they are incredibly light.  You'll forget you had them on after a while.  Even though they are light, they are extremely durable.  They definitely don't feel cheap.  One thing that bugs me about them though is they sit very close to my eyes.  They're supposed to, as they are designed to create a humid area near your eyes(best way I can explain).  But when you have long ass eyelashes and eyebrows, you tend to have to clean them regularly through the day.  It's the only real annoyance I can find with them.

If you're not 100% certain you'll like them, or even if they will work for you, go to their website and find the nearest retailer.  I'm sure you could persuade someone to let you test them out.  Some optometrists carry these lenses as well for RX glasses... aka, eye doctors approve.  If you give them a chance, I'm sure you'll like them.  I've recommended them to all my coworkers, my mom (who writes legal ads for a newspaper, on a computer 8 hours a day), and anyone else I've talked to that ever mentions eye strain due to computer use.

Again, I'm not affiliated with jga, or Gunnars in any way.  I can't vouch for jga, or the legitimateness of his service, but I can say kudos for bringing this to a forum where people, A. look at computer screens all the time, and B. want to buy cool shit with their cryptocoins.

1950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: mmcFE issues- need help, please! on: May 29, 2013, 06:37:06 PM
now ive sorted the rest out, i just need to know what to put for the database name? is it something specialised or just anything i want?

It's a database you setup and imported the necessary tables to.

You can name it anything you want.  The DB name is only used internally to direct pushpool and mmcfe to where the tables are located.

You can pull the sql file to import from any of the mmcfe github repos.
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: mmcFE issues- need help, please! on: May 29, 2013, 06:01:27 PM
You'll need to set up a file titled server.json.  This is the file pushpoold uses to connect to your litecoind, sql db, and to set the ports for incoming connections.  Below is an example server.json file with spots that you'll need to fill in.

Code:
{
# network ports
"listen" : [
# binary protocol (default), port 8342
{ "port" : 8342 },

# HTTP JSON-RPC protocol, port 8341
{ "port" : 8341, "protocol" : "http-json" },

# HTTP JSON-RPC protocol, port 8344,
# ***THIS PORT IS THE MAIN CONNECTING PORT FOR LP***
{ "port" : 8344, "protocol" : "http-json",
  "proxy" : "127.0.0.1" },

# binary protocol, localhost-only port 8338
{ "host" : "127.0.0.1", "port" : 8338, "protocol" : "binary" }
],

# database settings
"database" : {
"engine" : "mysql",
"host" : "localhost",
"port" : 3306,
"name" : "*****DBNAME*****",
"username" : "*****DB_USERNAME*****",
"password" : "*****DB_PASSWORD*****",
"sharelog" : true,
"stmt.pwdb":"SELECT `password` FROM `pool_worker` WHERE `username` = ?",
"stmt.sharelog":"INSERT INTO shares (rem_host, username, our_result, upstream_result, reason, solution) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)"

},

# cache settings
"memcached" : {
"servers" : [
{ "host" : "127.0.0.1", "port" : 11211 }
]
},

"pid" : "/tmp/pushpoold.pid",

# overrides local hostname detection
"forcehost" : "localhost.localdomain",

"log.requests" : "/tmp/request.log",
"log.shares" : "/tmp/shares.log",

# the server assumes longpolling (w/ SIGUSR1 called for each blk)
"longpoll.disable" : false,

# length of time to cache username/password credentials, in seconds
"auth.cred_cache.expire" : 75,

# RPC settings | Notice how this ISN'T port number 8332 this is becuase the same port number should not becuase inconjunction with the JSON RPC port other wise you'll get 500 errors
"rpc.url" : "http://127.0.0.1:*****RPC_PORT*****/",
"rpc.user" : "*****LITECOIND_RPC_USERNAME*****",
"rpc.pass" : "*****LITECOIND_RPC_PASSWORD*****",

# rewrite returned 'target' to difficulty-1?
#"rpc.target.rewrite" : true,
        "rpc.target.bits" : 22
}

The end got a little confusing for me.  The rpc.target.rewrite : true didn't let me mine.  So I set the rpc.target bits manually, and that did.  However, make sure you change this value in your requiredFunctions.php/configuration.php file in the /www/includes/ folder of mmcfe.  If it doesn't match, your hashrates won't register correctly for the site.

If anyone can chime in to what the rpc.target.rewrite is supposed to do, or why you would set it to true, please chime in... this one stumps me.

ahmed_bodi, is your sql database set up?  I was having issues with this before, but once I set up my sql database and put in the correct info in the server.json file, I was able to get it running.

You can debug issues as well by running pushpool with the command:

Code:
pushpoold -E -F -D=2 -c /location/of/your/server.json

It should output some additional information as to what it's doing when it starts up.  When you get it working, you can then start it with:

Code:
pushpoold -c /location/of/your/server.json

I'm sure there's a better way to do it, but that's the quick and dirty way that works for me.
1953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: mmcFE issues- need help, please! on: May 29, 2013, 05:03:31 PM
I've added the domain before into the configuration.php.  When I do, it doesn't issue the cookie on either the IP or the domain.  That's originally what led me to the cookies being the issue.  I haven't tried leaving the domain blank though.  I'll give it a shot and update this post with the results in a few minutes.

Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT:  Leaving the "cookieDomain" string empty fixed the issue.

the1silverwolf, You are the man.  PM me your LTC address and I'll shoot you a tip in a little bit.
1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / mmcFE issues- need help, please! on: May 29, 2013, 04:25:38 PM
So I have been trying to set up a private LTC pool for some students involved in an after school program at a high school in the district I work for.  I'm using Ubuntu server 13.04.  I have the latest apache2, mysql, and php5 installed, as well as all the required additions to run Litecoind and pushpool.  Both Litecoind and pushpool work without error.  I set up mmcFE via Chrgr's github repo.  I beat my head against a wall for a few days getting everything figured out, but I got it working.  I tested the site for a few days using the IP address of the VPS(hosted onsite).  I can register via the register page, log in to the site, add workers, etc.  Mining works fine, and stats populate on the site, charts display hashrates, etc.  It's a working pool.  The students are happy, and I've fostered a new generation of cryptocoin users... HUZZAH!

Now here is where it gets fun.  So I decided to create another private pool now that I know how to make it all work.  I figured I'd use it for my friends and coworkers and maybe even open it up to private registration when I get it all set in stone.  I set everything up on an outside VPS, installed everything, and viola... it worked without issues.  I decided I'd get snazzy and register a domain name for the site so I didn't have to access it via IP.  I set the DNS records on the registrar and the VPS provider, and I can now access the site from the new domain name.  However, I can not log into the site when using the domain name.  I can mine with the domain name, as well as with the IP.  I can ping the domain name without issues.  Everything points to it working fine.  But the login doesn't work.  I've found that when I use the IP address to access the site, when I log in, it hands out a login cookie, much like all the other pools.  When I use the domain name, the site never issues the cookie, and therefor never proceeds past the login page.  It loads the news.php page and that's it.  I've looked at the error logs for mysql and apache, and nothing is wrong.  The access.log for apache looks fine.  I've traced the code for the login and cookie functions, but nothing screams at me.  So that leads me to an issue with my Ubuntu server or Apache settings.  I've hit a wall with trying to figure this out.

I'm just trying to see if anyone has run into this before.  I figured with all the pools/pool operators out there, there has to be someone that can steer me in the right direction.

HELP PLEASE!

Best not to believe people on forums. If I say I've hacked into the CIA and using their mainframe to mine YAC, would you take me serious? Just saying. Moat people just brag :-D

Sorry, had to do it... I love the moat people memes.

how do you connect other computers to your yacoin server? I have set up conf for yacoin.

I just run duplicate wallet.dat files on multiple computers.  I'm sure there's probably a better way to do it, but it was working earlier in the day.

Tyrion70, thanks for the tip on the "new blocks found" command.  I'm sure that's one that a lot of people aren't aware of, as a lot of people are saying the same things I am.  You should post a new topic letting people know how to check that, because that definitely kept me from pulling my hair out.  I wish there was a +rep feature on this forum.  You're the man, man.
