How long do you think we have until the west begins falling into the abyss? it is sad that I will have to leave friends behind, and force a new lifestyle upon my family.

No one else is interested in saving themselves, and it's frustrasting me.

You'll probably make lots of new friends where ever you go, and your old friends might be later begging you to offer them a safe haven. Offer some pretty (or ugly, lol) girls poolside, cold beer, barbie, and live feed of Ozzie rules ball and you can probably entice them over, lol.

I urge you to rent so can go back home for < 6 months visit every year. This will also allow you to reflect on your decision and check your sanity with reality. Remember the goal is 2nd citizenship, not yet time for complete renunciation (and hopefully we won't get there).

I'd say 2017 will be the pivotal year. Next year it will be apparent the contagion is underway, but it won't engulf the USA mainstreet fully until well into 2017. And according to MA's model, the USA wallstreet economy will hang on until 2017.9. So I'd say 2018 is the SHTF year. Hot war, pandemic, global economic collapse.

Again I would think Philippines to lower expenses until Spring 2016 (and attain 2nd citizenships for your wife and kids) to buy crypto at the low as a first step or prefer if you can work somewhere interim that exceeds your expenses so you can build up the amount you can invest on the low.

At some point you have to get the 2nd citizenship started for yourself. Paraguay needs $5000 deposit in their banking system and you have to show up physically. Then 3 year wait and towards the end of the 3 years you need to live and do business in Paraguay. If you attain an extra $135,000 from investments that outperform and/or an alliance with a wealthier person, Dominica is a 12-week citizenship option with no need to learn a new language and prove commitment to live and do business there.

Again I said if you can convince me you are very skilled mechanically and electrically and if I become wealthy again, we might we be able to help each other on these goals. If not, I wish you good luck on your plans.

P.S. I found the hardest leap was the initial one to leave the USA in 1990 when I was 25 years old. As time went on, it got easier to feel I wasn't missing anything. Sometimes I miss New Orleans, but the world is a diverse place and a lot of things to get me interested and busy.

When the hyperinflation comes, if it comes, your daughter may become a whore, and your son may become a robber. You want to say to your children: You don't have to do that, come home, we have food. But you can't, because you don't, the money is gone. Hyperinflation destroys the fabric of society.

No hyperinflation is coming. It will be all crushing deflation where you can't generate any commerce and everything collapses into totalitarianism. The governments are not weak, thus they don't need to hyperinflate away the debts. Instead they will press austerity and expropriate down to the bone marrow.

And yes if you don't grow you own or enter the anonymous Knowledge Age commerce, you may be lacking food and dependent on slop-kitchens at the FEMA camps.

Ah cool! You have sons. Fun.

Quote
And lithium found in salty water, or brines, is by far the most cost effective. According to Dr. Robinson, "brine is the best way to produce lithium because it's so cheap, as nature has done all the hard work in rendering the lithium into a form that is easy to extract from the ground. All you have to do is drill a few wells and pump the liquid brine."

Furthermore, there are only a few places in the world where lithium is present at high enough concentrations in these salty brines and the most famous is in the Atacama Desert, in the "Lithium Triangle" of Bolivia, Argentina and Chile. Supply here is threatened by corruption and politics, making it difficult to capitalize on burgeoning demand.

When Tesla's gigafactory comes online, everyone will be looking for cost-effective lithium sources closer to home, which brings us full circle to the state of Nevada, where Pure Energy Minerals has the only potential future brine resource in North America.

It will be of great interest to me how Tesla and the Gigafactory all work out.  I try to pay attention to materials like lithium and the rare earths (as well as all the investment metals).

Deflation...  Although the Western economies could go in any direction, a "deflation then hyperinflation" set of scenarios is very possible.  Deflation to wring out PM-holders (and weak companies & overstretched consumers), then POW!, Uncle Janet Yellen whacks us with garbage dollars after.

*   *   *

Because, be definition, so few of us can become "Alphas" in the Knowledge Age, the rest of us can best become prepared the best we can.  Preparation includes knowledge, a readiness to explore "Plan B" countries (which it appears that ONLY TPTB has actually DONE), PMs, harder-core stuff like guns & ammo & water filtration (etc.), and my favorite: DIVERSIFICATION.

*   *   *

Re nooks and crannies, yes, the Andes (particularly in Peru) has LOTS of them.  With relatively few people in the tropical & sub-tropical zones (most of the Andeans like the cooler weather higher-up).  There is, as TPTB has pointed out at least twice, rather high violence for a rural area.

Costa Rica is just fine if you have $$$.  Panama, not as nice IMO (but with an economy that might be stronger in the long run), requires LESS MONEY to reside.

Paraguay and Uruguay, Argentina & Chile...  EIGHT WEEKS, bitchez.  A visit for at least eight weeks to see if the place (8 weeks PER candidate country), to eat the food, visit lawyers, investigate opportunities, etc., etc.

If you show up in any LatAm country knowing Spanish and being relatively self-sufficient, you will be accepted (assuming good behavior, LOL).  That is a big plus.  I have heard that in much of Asia that is not true...

...

From the Economic Devastation thread, but relevant here IMO:

...

This just occurred to me, right after I had logged-out, but I thought I would toss this in here as an example of the Knowledge Age...

The company (guy, whatever) I have in my signature is about as good an example I can think of for a Knowledge Age effort!

The site is very automated (very "knowledge-y"), at least one of his mixing options is via TOR, it is a future-oriented service...

bitmixer.io could be (is?) perhaps a one-man effort, whether it is just one or a small group really makes no difference re as an example of a Knowledge Age enterprise.

I'd be interested in comments on whether bitmixer is a good example of a Knowledge Age effort, let's leave aside any comments on mixing effectiveness or similar (eg, whether TOR is really anonymous).

*   *   *

Arguably hard, but not impossible of course, to shut down THIS site is a good example of a programmer/entrepreneur who has a quiet (and apparently lucrative) business that only a low percentage of people in the world could achieve on his (their) own...

TPTB and friends, does this idea ("Examples of Knowledge Age Efforts") merit a separate thread?

Yes it is an example of the Knowledge Age, but it is not that unique. If you want a zillion examples go visit kickstarter.com

If you created for your bearing business a new automobile marketing plan, scheme, or any intellectual added value, that is Knowledge Age work.

And the reason more people aren't doing it is because you shouldn't be doing mixing that way and he is setting himself up for massive criminal liability. And how many times have I told you that server-based mixers are probably controlled by the NSA.

Decentralized mixing. Why are you not using Monero  ??

OROBTC if you are lazy with technology as rpietila is, you both will suffer.

No. Only deflation is possible. Gold does not go up due to monetary inflation. It goes up as a hedge against government expropriation.

I have heard that in much of Asia that is not true...

That is very much true amongst many of the Chinese. Not with the filipinos.

However same can be said of some Mexicans.

Ahh, kickstarter.com.  I'll go have a look to satisfy my curiosity re Knowledge Age examples.  I also realized that almost ANY BTC companies would be examples as well.

There's a small amount of Knowledge Age already in our bearing business.  Many new bearings come out all the time, and the designs are not publicized.  We (and our competitors) have to dig for that information.  One thing we have going for us is that some of our Korean bearings are made by few (or no) others in the world.  "Special pieces"

We also try and incrementally buy smarter through time.  I do my part by studying the sales database I created and work on.  A lot of value can be derived from a database showing sales through time of some 800 different SKUs, all with their own characteristics (as well as our customers' characteristics).  I keep track of all of this with a "star-shaped" multidimensional database, perfectly ready for OLAP* and other analytical tools.

*Too bad IBM wants $2000 for their Cognos tool, and roughly the same for MSFT's SQL Server (which includes a nice OLAP tool as well).

15 - 18 years ago I was using free or cheap advanced analytical software that was easy to use.  Now it is NOT cheap nor easy to use..., or BOTH.  Sad

*   *   *

Monero is not well accepted yet, not ready for prime time.  It's also HARDER with fewer easy-to-use tools.

Ease of use is a bigger factor, TPTB, than you might think.

Do a kickstarter to get someone to make a better open-source OLAP database. Then help market it. You'll be doing Knowledge Age work. When you see a problem, solve it. That is the Knowledge Age.

I believe Monero has a GUI now, but I am not sure.

I agree point & click. You'll be happy if ever I finish my work. I was 18 hours on the anonymity white paper today. Over 48 references cited already. My blinded eye is so blood shot that I can't barely keep it open. Headed to sleep. Zzzzzzz.

@OROBTC - I have been thinking about your question, and concluded that an
uncertainty principle operates here. If I tell you anything useful, you
will be unable to use it. I know that is not much use ;-)
Welcome to the Minor uncertainty principle.

I can draw your attention to some things that are already known.

Plato - "When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or
treaty and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring
up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader."

A tyrant is an absolute ruler unrestrained by law or constitution,
or one who has usurped legitimate sovereignty ... usurper of sovereign
power who makes his subjects the victims of his passions and unjust
desires, which he substitutes for laws.

Some argue that a gold standard reduces the desire for war, suggesting
that modern wars create so much debt that war and gold money are
incompatible. Clearly any Tyrant or MIC would wish to maintain an
ongoing series of emergencies in order to maximise their grip on power
and continue the flow of wealth under their control.

"War is a Racket" - Smedley D. Butler.

War - of whatever type - replaces laws with debt, pretty much by
definition. What happens next depends on where the economy is on the
Laffer curve. War, and its debt may cause an increase in economic activity.
It will also result in an increase in taxation. The government, whether
authoritarian or not, then faces hard choices if the economy begins to
contract: it may be unable to attract funding; the flow of material to the
conflict (or MIC pockets) may cease; promises made and social contracts
may be broken if funds are unavailable.

If no-one protests the war, acceptance of the immediate and deferred
cost is implied, even though the cost may fall on those least able
to bear it. The Tyrant has an incentive to demonise the needy and
exalt the warrior when spending money the government does not have,
because in that way loyalty can be rewarded and power exercised.

If no external enemy can be found, a state of economic totalitarianism
then exists, with war declared on the taxpayer and on the weakest, and
bringing the seizure of goods and of wealth on mere suspicion. This
comes about because of the predatory nature of an irreplaceable
authoritarian regime. A good test for the condition of any government
therefore is the replacement rate in elections, free or otherwise.

Accompanying this, gold goes into hiding, or is used for international
trade, to pay mercenaries, or to pay tribute. The currency is debased to
pay the interest on debt, and perhaps the MIC. Economic activity
contracts while inflation soars. Eventually, all faith in the currency
collapses, and with it the government's credit and credibility.

Thse things take years to decades to complete.

"Justice" refers to the approval of punishment, and approval exists only within the phenomenology of consciousness; therefore, you have indicated that tyrants do not exist in the real and, thus, that your subjugation at the "hands" of "The Powers that Be" exists only as a condition of your consciousness and nothing else.

It would seem, therefore, that, to thwart "The Powers that Be," one would merely decline the assumption of those states of consciousness which precipitate the "existence" of tyrants within knowledge (which does not correspond to veridical existence).

Escape the plutocrats’ zanpakutō, Flower in the Mirror, Moon on the Water: brave “the ascent which is rough and steep” (Plato).

Gold goes into hiding only if the private sector has enough power to avoid the government and continue commerce else where. Otherwise if there are no frontiers then the tyrants take every thing down into a Dark Age. This is the difference between small, revolutionary government tyrants (e.g. Wiemar Socialist Germany, Zimbabwe, Argentina, etc) and collapse due to global tyrant (e.g. West Rome). In the latter case, there is no government default until the society doesn't exist. The population of Rome fell from 1.3 million to 30,000 in a just a few decades. No hyperinflation, just deflation. There was a hyperinflation but that was couple of hundred years before that and Rome survived it. It was the final deflation into the Dark Age of the middle ages that finally destroyed Western Rome.

And now we are in a much worse situation than West Rome, because the Eastern Byzantine Empire that will take over from the (demographically and debt-wise) bankrupted West 2032 forward is China+Russia which are highly totalitarian States.

There is no escape geographically. They have the major economies of the world all sucked into this deflation, with Asia+BRICs to be the growth areas after 2020, but in a new form of totalitarianism where you can't sell your gold and enter these new growth areas without paying your FATCA expropriation fees, penalties, and taxes.

This is why I am trying my best to create an easy-to-use, vastly superior anonymous internet and currency platform so we will have a frontier to go into hiding with our capital where we can invest and do commerce freely. That indeed could bankrupt the new world order.

The only way to win is to bankrupt the totalitarianism. The anonymous Knowledge Age economy will be orders-of-magnitude more productive. We can make the new world order look like it is riding a turtle while we are riding a timewarp spaceship.

The ground work is being laid now, and this is not easy. It is grueling hard work, especially on my eyes. And I expect to be rewarded commensurately. I expect those who participate early will also be rewarded.

As far as I'm concerned, the ongoing fascination with the 'anonymous' features of currencies like Dash and Monero is holding the crypto community back. If you really want a private asset then don't have one that can't function without the internet. When more people awaken to how institutions have been abusing them and will keep on doing so, they are more likely to get angry and shove it in people's faces that they are getting on board with something new. So something like Potcoin could be a dark horse that takes a big market share sometime in the future. This whole 'We want a revolution but we don't want to show our faces' movement has had its moment and died on the vine. The next phase, and one far more effective in instigating change, could be fuelled by Joe Citizen angry when he realizes that the FDA has known that cannabis slows tumor growth since the 70s, while corporate powers are secretly getting behind tech that they know accelerates tumor growth, like microwave radiation.

Tell that to the man who is sticking the big RED, WHITE, and BLUE expropriation dick up your ass in 2017 forward.

Smart money likes to silently get around the big dick.

The riots and pitch forks are for the masses who are enticed into for example supporting Napoleon as their savior who then enslaves them anew.

This is not a fascination. It will be a movement that will totally change the internet, the economy, and the world.

The world will not tolerate shutting down the internet, because it is driving all the profit now as we move towards a zero margin economy for mass produced manufacturing.

We can hide our data in encryption and anonymous mixes. When the government is destroying the economy, the people have no choice but to move to what still functions.

Don't forget, even the people in the government want to hide their ill gotten wealth also, so they will silently support an anonymous internet while publicly attacking it.
