see that a lot for mining software in general.

I just exclude the folder with mining programs from my antivirus scanners and use only the official download sites for the miners.

yeah it was just a double check in case his build got corrupted..what I figured...I'm still trying to get the linux version to work

(Ubuntu 12.04) on some toss away ..'no longer able to go past xp' machines for free that I use to monitor 2 titans....

seemed like a good idea for dual purpose but been 2 months on time off ..trying this ...sent some info to novak but

most folk are just saying screw it and put these on a pi insead..may do so...hard to mess up an SD someone can copy me

Just letting people know I updated the windows binaries to support bitshopper compacs and I also compiled it with icarus, so you should be able to run it with lots of other stickminers if you wish.

Just letting people know I updated the windows binaries to support bitshopper compacs and I also compiled it with icarus, so you should be able to run it with lots of other stickminers if you wish.

Yes, that's cgminer, not my driver.  cgminer always trips out antivirus because some viruses used to include it to steal mining power from people, back when cpu mining was useful.

The new version is slightly cleaned up and will build alongside icarus.  I've tested it with a U2 and they run at the same time.  I also fixed it to recognize bitshopper compacs, as that was a source of annoyance.  I have yet to try to force a windows build.

I wonder if we could use Y cable and instead of using another hub as a power source, remove the male USB connector and plug the wire in one of these:



There's a wide range of those on ebay...

as long as the 5v from the computer or hub is isolated from the 5v to the compac it would be fine.

ie cut the 5v line in the usb cable to the computer, and tie the 5v line from the psu to the compac. only grounds will be common. that way with the slight voltage mismatch will not be fighting each other.

some y cables may come already isolated like that (power injectors maybe) but others depend on the y cable being plugged into the same hub or computer so that the 5 volts on each end of the y are equal..

when most people think of y cable the latter is what they are thinking of.

Hi There,

I just received my new Gekkominer USB and am trying to get it working. I have downloaded the Cgminer-gekko win32 version as outlined in the beginning of the thread.
Running into some issues, however.
I've installed Zadig and switched the driver for the device to WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385).
Upon launching Cgminer, I get the following error (shown in the attached image) - http://imgur.com/Atq1oXg
Every time the device resets itself in cgminer, the white activity light on the device flashes for a moment. Not sure if this is normal.

The device is plugged into it's own USB 3.0 port, and is not on a hub or anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Would love to get this working

Well it should run fine at 150Mhs, but verify the Vcore.

So more on improving cooling for my 6 gekkos.

I've ordered 2 of the following heatsink:



I plan to attach 3 sticks side by side on each, they have higher fins and they're orientated properly for my current cooling setup.

What do you think ?

Thanks, I don't have a multimeter here but I can try and get one. I took a photo of the vcore adjustment screw. According to the diagram I am thinking it is around 0.6-0.65V.

I ran cgminer with the benchmark flag, but am not getting anything new. It seems like it is trying to run it at 125mhz by default in the benchmark.
First of all it had an issue restarting the device - http://imgur.com/VXDFFjA

Anything else I could try without a voltmeter?

Hmm no luck . Is it normal to have to adjust the voltage screw to get it working at all? I have a voltmeter at home and should be able to test further tonight.

Simply unplug and replug the stick while cgminer is running.

Depending on windows ver, some times it might take a few installs - UN-installs to get zagdig to work. Also did you try running cgminer as administrator?

There was mention of zagdig missing a .dll or something, so may be some thing to look at.
