Nadal is playing in Mexico, since that is Spanish speaking country, and sponsors probably like it that way, while Djokovic is better suited on Middle East and Far East (he often have sponsors from Japan, Uniqlo for a long time)
nevertheless, Djokovic will vouch for Nadal, since Medvedev could be first if win in Acapulco , will be interesting to see his performance in Dubai after all the drama

Yes, interesting to see Djokovic playing today against Musetti. Looking at the
schedule for Dubai it looks like some of the "Big Names" are there, Rublev,
Sinner, Shapovalov, Bautista Agut, Basilashvili and Murray.

The Top6 ^{bar Djokovic} are in Mexico so he has a good chance of
winning Dubai and the others in Mexico dont have to face him.

I have a good few micro bets on favourites for both tournaments, the usual
suspects to win.

Sinner lost the first set and was a number of match points down in a second set tie break
to win that set and absolutely blows Davidovich Fokina away in the 3 set to win.
Sinner didnt play well in the second set [I didnt see the first set] and Davidovich Fokina
was hitting some amazing winners.

I had Sinner to win but had a real cluster muster of a micro betting session on this match
to break even in the end ^almost

looking at draw, it would not be that easy for Djokovic to pass through, all players that have beat him on best-of-3 matches in the line, first Khachanov, then Bautista-Agut (three wins over Djokovic during career), semi-final should be an easy one, and final depend on opponent Rublev or Sinner should be a bit harder, but nothing special

Thought I saw Djokovic in a match earlier in Dubai. I guess their vaccination policies are different than from France & Australia.
Just as restrictions in those countries are lifted, Australia are starting to allow more flights in and out with more passengers onboard a flight - the fortress moniker has be removed as well, maybe those policies will be lifted their too.
But he still has a 3 year ban put in place from his choice(mistake?) of entering in the country with falsified documents.

There were quite alot of retirements from the Dubai Open/Mexican tournament. I counted three which I had two of those matches on my betslip, so they counted as voided.

I don't know any bookie that counts walkover without playing as regular bet. I know few that count it as regular play if one game or one set has been finished. All respectable bookies void all ML bets in any walkover situation. Most fair solution for all parties.

And, as you say, it's highly likely that he is going to miss quite a few tournaments due to his vaccination status. But it's so close anyway that even one missed tournament now could put Medvedev ahead of him. I can't really see any way that Djokovic remains number 1, there is close to zero chance of him getting vaccinated.

Well i think that covid will end really soon. I think that every tournament that Djokovic play he will win as how he played this two matches in Dubai. I really hope that they will allow Djokovic to play im really sure that he would win them all. But if he dosent play Medvedev will for sure take the first place sooner or later

TBH he hasnt done himself any favours on a number of levels

1. he is out of the tournament
2. he could be looking at a 6 month probation or ban, similar to what Kyrgios got in 2019.
3. this outbreak definitely puts a spotlight on the above allegations.

Yeah, I absolutely get the emotions. I'm probably kind of the same, but you don't take it out on someone else. I thought Kyrgios was pretty bad and no one comes close to the kind of abuse he gave (and no, I think Medvedev's outbursts in AO were more funny than scary) and he got his suspension proper. I'll be real surprised if Zverev escapes some kind of suspension too.

Money, money, money... Vesely costed me the ticket yesterday against Agut but he gave back more 20x today so I will forgive him. Hope at least some of you followed my tip on handicap, that was free money and I managed to take 6.5 handi @1.6 on local bookie. Sportsbet had good odds on Vesely to take at least a set and odds on 2:0 win were over 20 on most bookies.

This was perfect example of bookies going by ranking. I watched Vesely in first 2 matches and yes Djoko was a favorite but odds should have been something like 1.5-2.6 and not 1.05 on Djoko. Unfortunately the odds will drop now in all other matches but I will force him till the end of tournament.

Yeah, it seemed inevitable, but I'm quite surprised that Djokovic ceded the number 1 spot so easily. The question I suppose is how long is Medvedev likely to remain at number 1? His big points to defend come later in the season, by which time Djokovic will likely have dropped a lot more points due to missing tournaments. It seems likely Medvedev will stay at number 1 for quite a while. And I have to say maybe Djokovic will not return there.
