What is actually the reason that Nadal refers the tournament in Mexico over the one in Dubai? ~snip
it is probably sponsors Nadal is playing in Mexico, since that is Spanish speaking country, and sponsors probably like it that way, while Djokovic is better suited on Middle East and Far East (he often have sponsors from Japan, Uniqlo for a long time) nevertheless, Djokovic will vouch for Nadal, since Medvedev could be first if win in Acapulco , will be interesting to see his performance in Dubai after all the drama ~snip I think the question is more why Djokovic is playing in Dubai? I guess he can't go to Mexico cause of covid pass.
Djokovic plays Dubai every season, probably sponsors as well Yes, interesting to see Djokovic playing today against Musetti. Looking at the schedule for Dubai it looks like some of the "Big Names" are there, Rublev, Sinner, Shapovalov, Bautista Agut, Basilashvili and Murray. The Top6 bar Djokovic are in Mexico so he has a good chance of winning Dubai and the others in Mexico dont have to face him. I have a good few micro bets on favourites for both tournaments, the usual suspects to win.

Super match today between Davidovich Fokina and Sinner!
Sinner lost the first set and was a number of match points down in a second set tie break to win that set and absolutely blows Davidovich Fokina away in the 3 set to win. Sinner didnt play well in the second set [I didnt see the first set] and Davidovich Fokina was hitting some amazing winners.
I had Sinner to win but had a real cluster muster of a micro betting session on this match to break even in the end almost
Sinner to win @ 1.28 staked 0.01mBTC Then after realising he lost the first set I bet again on him @ 2.50 staked 0.01mBTC Then thinking he was down an out in the second set I bet on Davidovich Fokina to win @ 1.52 staked 0.01mBTC and topped it up @ 1.12 staked 0.02mBTC and topped it up again early in the tie break 5-2 @ 1.55 staked 0.01mBTC then after he lost that tie break and the set I went back to Sinner to win @ 1.35 staked 0.02mBTC then went all in with what was left in my pot @ 1.01 staked 0.015mBTC
Absolutely crazy, I'm said it before I wouldnt do In-Play betting and thats it, not doing it again.

looking at draw, it would not be that easy for Djokovic to pass through, all players that have beat him on best-of-3 matches in the line, first Khachanov, then Bautista-Agut (three wins over Djokovic during career), semi-final should be an easy one, and final depend on opponent Rublev or Sinner should be a bit harder, but nothing special I remember even GS's, where he did not have this hard line of opponents to reach final

Djokovic seems to be looking forward to it again, I read in the news. We can deduce from his statements and thoughts that he will never be vaccinated against the virus. Anyway, of course he is a top tennis player so I only try to look at that. It would be a real shame if he doesn't attend the grand slam tournaments, he's part of it. People want to see his play, he can play magnificent.

There's good chance that Medvedev becomes world no.1 if he wins Acapulco. Djokovic has to win Dubai to stay close. It is uncertain if Djokovic will get a chance to play in the US swing of tournaments(Miami, Indian Wells) as he's not allowed to enter the United States while being unvaccinated. He will likely apply for exemption again and it rests in the hands of US authorities. Medvedev will have a really good shot at staying world no.1 until the year end. Its unfortunate to see that a GOAT contender tennis player isn't allowed to play because he doesn't want to inject a vaccine. Not like tennis is a contact sports and the players aren't monitored at all.

I don't think he will get an exemption though, the Tennis Federation already knows what is the consequences already as they have seen it in Australia and I don't think the US will want to make a story out of Djokovic. So good if Medvedev can overtake Djokovic and become the number 1 player even if for brief moment. The pressure should be on Djokovic now, to get vaccinated to be able to compete. If not then it's his call.

Just as restrictions in those countries are lifted, Australia are starting to allow more flights in and out with more passengers onboard a flight - the fortress moniker has be removed as well, maybe those policies will be lifted their too. But he still has a 3 year ban put in place from his choice(mistake?) of entering in the country with falsified documents. There were quite alot of retirements from the Dubai Open/Mexican tournament. I counted three which I had two of those matches on my betslip, so they counted as voided.

Damn, just saw the video of Zverev going apeshit on the umpire. Don't recall recently seeing an umpire pissing his pants heh. So out goes the defending champ. Makes me wonder how bookies settle this type of thing, I haven't actually bet on tennis and got my pick thrown out of the tournament.
Winner of the day: Peter Gojowczyk, who gets a WO.

not sure what to call here, how can be so upset about double match? yeah, Peter is a winner, he gets WO, and pass through bookies handle this one as any other WO, probably, and it depend on each bookie, how they handle that, it could be a void, or it could be Peter to win, but mostly would just void this one, since it was not starter at all

I know few that count it as regular play if one game or one set has been finished. All respectable bookies void all ML bets in any walkover situation. Most fair solution for all parties.
WTF happened with Vesely? He destroyed Ćilić yesterday which can happen but then he destroyed Bautista Agut today and that is very big surprise for me. Bautista is the guy in form at the moment. If Vesely can repeat this performance he can even take out Djoković tomorrow. My bet will go on some handicap, should be nice ones like +6.5. @buwaytress this the one for you to play Vesely 2:0 against Djoko

Luckily and yea he has been performing really well. Vesely? ranked 123, Beats Cilic in 2 sets and Bautista Agut in 2 also, thats Tennis and what makes it so interesting and sometimes frustrating to bet on. Well done to him anyway but he has a serious match tomorrow, it will be a massive upset if he beats Djokovic. He has a +5.5 handicap on sportsbet.

I think it's almost inevitable that Medvedev will become number 1 very soon. Djokovic is 440pts ahead, and is defending 500. And, as you say, it's highly likely that he is going to miss quite a few tournaments due to his vaccination status. But it's so close anyway that even one missed tournament now could put Medvedev ahead of him. I can't really see any way that Djokovic remains number 1, there is close to zero chance of him getting vaccinated.

I think that every tournament that Djokovic play he will win as how he played this two matches in Dubai. I really hope that they will allow Djokovic to play im really sure that he would win them all. But if he dosent play Medvedev will for sure take the first place sooner or later

I just watched that on youtube, what is wring with him, he needs some anger management, it was a doubles match and now as a defending champion he's out. I think the bookies take a ban as a loss, ok in this case they lost anyway. I might be mixing that up with a retirement tough ?

The rules for US are quite strict and I don't think any player will get an exemption so chances that Djokovic will be able to play in US are close to 0%. -snip
Haha, I guess we all have had the same experience. Have had it also a couple of times when betting on tennis and lost a lot of money on it, so since then I rarely bet on live matches. Except if there is really value in some bets.

I just watched that on youtube, what is wring with him, he needs some anger management, it was a doubles match and now as a defending champion he's out. Really stupid reaction from Zverev. I can understand the need to went out the frustrations but it could have been done differently. He could have just broken his racket on turf after the match finished and then calmly said to the ref whatever je needed to say from the bench. Nothing would happen. This was done to intimidate ref and now he is out and faces further consequences. There were also some allegations from his ex gf which now look much more likely, at least to me.

Thats exactly what my wife said regarding the claims from his ex GF back in 2021. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/oct/04/abuse-allegations-against-alexander-zverev-under-investigation-atpTBH he hasnt done himself any favours on a number of levels 1. he is out of the tournament 2. he could be looking at a 6 month probation or ban, similar to what Kyrgios got in 2019. 3. this outbreak definitely puts a spotlight on the above allegations.

Yeah, I absolutely get the emotions. I'm probably kind of the same, but you don't take it out on someone else. I thought Kyrgios was pretty bad and no one comes close to the kind of abuse he gave (and no, I think Medvedev's outbursts in AO were more funny than scary) and he got his suspension proper. I'll be real surprised if Zverev escapes some kind of suspension too. Didn't know about the ex-gf thing, sometimes I wish I didn't know about these things...

Vesely? ranked 123, Beats Cilic in 2 sets and Bautista Agut in 2 also, thats Tennis and what makes it so interesting and sometimes frustrating to bet on. Well done to him anyway but he has a serious match tomorrow, it will be a massive upset if he beats Djokovic. He has a +5.5 handicap on sportsbet. Money, money, money... Vesely costed me the ticket yesterday against Agut but he gave back more 20x today so I will forgive him. Hope at least some of you followed my tip on handicap, that was free money and I managed to take 6.5 handi @1.6 on local bookie. Sportsbet had good odds on Vesely to take at least a set and odds on 2:0 win were over 20 on most bookies. This was perfect example of bookies going by ranking. I watched Vesely in first 2 matches and yes Djoko was a favorite but odds should have been something like 1.5-2.6 and not 1.05 on Djoko. Unfortunately the odds will drop now in all other matches but I will force him till the end of tournament. Ostapenko is on fire as well.... Medvedev is first in the world from next week no matter what he does in Acapulco.

Yeah, it seemed inevitable, but I'm quite surprised that Djokovic ceded the number 1 spot so easily. The question I suppose is how long is Medvedev likely to remain at number 1? His big points to defend come later in the season, by which time Djokovic will likely have dropped a lot more points due to missing tournaments. It seems likely Medvedev will stay at number 1 for quite a while. And I have to say maybe Djokovic will not return there.
