It is nice to see these old thread and see what people thought back in the day, for me it is difficult to imagine a time where bitcoin was only worth 10 dollars but I know that is true, also it is incredible how right the OP was about prices I hope he still holds his bitcoins and keeps getting richer thanks to it.

Give it time. It will be worth $10 again.
LOL! I guess it would not be possible again, we will not see another big downfall because bitcoin
has matured through time and more and more people are accustom with bitcoin which is hard to imagine the opposite result of success.
I agree that we will not be able to see that big dump on the price because bitcoin is getting more even stronger now and the price is always going up and that is the sign that bitcoin is now unstoppable and it can't be that easy for bitcoin to be dump because it needs a lot of money and bitcoins to do that and no one will ever do that because everyone always want profit.

Never assume anything. I thought it couldn't happen too when the bubble popped all the way down to $2. I'm hoping all of the big block-small block bullshit causes a massive crash and we can buy back in cheap and do it all over again. It would also be nice if it was discovered that a couple of the Chinese exchanges were faking the price like MtGox was so we can do it all over again.

If the price pushes too high only the dumbest traders will stay with Bitcoin.

Remember, if you invest $100,000 in Bitcoin and the price is $10 it only needs to rise to $20 to double your money to $200,000.

If you invest $100,000 in Bitcoin and the price is $5000 it needs to go to $10,000 to double your money to $200,000.

If you were an investor, which playing field would you rather buy in on?

You are simply wet dreaming about btc going to $10 again...
There are far too many eyes on btc now to get anywhere near that....
The way things are going, litecoin might not even go back to $10 never mind Bitcoin..

Sure, but isn't it a nice dream. Wouldn't you like to do it all over again?

yes ,indeed ,not many people from the early days are still around here like us lol
it would be nice not only for the extra cash but for the nostalgic rollercoaster ride

i bought my first btc's around  $3 and i bought more and more  until they hit like $10
i would love to do it all it all again but i think LTC is our best chance to go through simlar patterns of adoption
and gains .........

It would have taken some guts to hold your coins all the way through the bumpy ride for so many years.

It is not likely indeed that there are many of the early miners/buyers left, but those that did are probably not to chatty about it Wink Better to hide yourself and your wealth than to brag about it and become a target.

Nah, it didn't take guts. I'd love to pretend I had some kind of super mad investing skillz that let me see the future, but that's not true. I started mining Graet's pool, ozcoin just before the big run up to $15. I was so butthurt when it crashed to $2 but I kept mining because I already had the GPUs.

Back then there wasn't really anywhere to spend your coin. I bought an Amazon gift card from Jeremy at spendbitcoins once but I didn't really need or want anything they sold then. I was always skeptical of using an exchange named after a trading card game (MtGox) and they were the only show in town. So, if you can't spend them and you're afraid to give all your personal info to an overseas company the only thing left is sit on them. Then you see the exchange rate start to rise except it doesn't stop at $15, it just keeps going. Well, now you're afraid to ever sell them because you don't know where it will end. You just need to hold until you really need the money (which I don't), cash out, give the government their cut of the loot and spend your profit.

So you see, it's not mad skillz, it's dumb luck. LOL

I worry more about living in a decent home with a nice car and desperate poor people all over the place than I worry about someone knowing how much btc I have. I've been mugged twice in my life and had my car stolen once (carjacked). I live in a huge metro area and I was traveling through a place I shouldn't have been. You could say that every time I've been robbed it was my fault. I'm much more worried about people taking my fiat away than my btc.

There's really nothing to brag about. I saw the Galker and Slashdot articles about the new money. Read a few reprints of the cypherpunks mailing list about the new invention and thought it had promise. Started mining and the above happened. Hard to really brag about being a lucky motherfucker. LOL

I don't think it is about guts.
It's about understanding a bit of cryptography and mathematics.

That was my best investment: education about bitcoin.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

It's better to divide the month into four and buy weekly, because bitcoin tends to be too volatile for the monthly to work out as well, so instead of buying $100 per month, buy $25 per week.

yea, but depending on method of purchase, the fees involved could be worse that way. transferring to an exchange and whatnot i mean. unless you transferred in large amounts and let them sit on the exchange, but... well, eww.

There are ways to attempt to strategize regarding saving fees, like you said, you could transfer a dedicated amount and there are some places where the fees are near zero, especially if you plan ahead.

The dollar cost average method it a time tested method that works for a lot of investors who do not want to get into a gambling mindset, but long term believe that the asset is going up... but they do not want to necessarily have to monitor it on a daily basis, either.

So you could have automatic buys or you could manually carry them out in whatever time increment is comfortable for you... and I still think that monthly is waiting too long and better to spread out.. even every two weeks is better than monthly.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

yup the price is more than $13xx like you said and even we have reach $14xx this day and yesterday. but i think the price will going to go up again like before and i hope its really happen. the more higher the price, the more profit we can take and we can withdraw big money in our bank account.

Hope you're right. Even if it would take a bit longer I wouldn't be disappointed as long as we keep movin up. So 1500-1800 would be fine to me as well, although 1500 would be extremely conservative price estimation I know.
Furthermore I believe more guys here are hodlers, at least in terms of Bitcoin, not sure about shitcoins though! Cheesy

Seems like Bitcoin has been gaining popularity that means users are increasing that leads to this increase in price. It is no doubt that it will reach $2000 mark this year and the usage of Bitcoin in Japan and the recognition of Russia towards Bitcoin would help it fuel this desire of ours.

this is one of the rare 100+ pages topic that i like. with its weird started being anonymous (banned and removed?) it makes the topic more interesting.
and the more interesting part is when you read the comments of first couple of pages, you can see far less dumb people talking nonsense and far less FUD.

to the moon with bitcoin...

Bitcoin is moving like crazy and if the craziness continues for next few years then there is no doubt that we will become super rich with bitcoins so the best thing would be to collect as many bitcoin as possible at a moment.

There's nothing natural or organic about the current price rally. I don't think it's possible for this rally to continue for "the next few years". I'd be shocked if it lasted out the year.

The problem with collecting up more coin right now is you could end up being one of those poor bastards that bought during the Gox rally at near $1,200 and then had to either sell at a loss or wait two years to see your money return. I wouldn't buy more coin right now for anything. I will never pay this much for a Bitcoin and I certainly won't buy a ridiculously priced coin like $5k.
