Steph Curry just signed a massive one year contract extension with the Warriors. $62 million is getting close to the 1 million dollar per game mark… I think Luka Doncic will probably be the first player to get that. Going back to Steph, if the rumors about a trade to LA ever come to fruition, looks like LA is gonna have to pay up. (LA will probably end up being the team that pays Doncic $82 million a year too…)

It's like Dwyane Wade; you wouldn't be surprised to find out it was his last year. I don't know why Wade signed with another team, and then only to return to Miami. What happened to Wade, I think might happen to Curry too. But hopefully not.

Will be interesting to see but knowing Bron he is going to make him earn a pass he isn't just going to give it to him.  And in terms of making the team he was their second round pick he is definitely going to make the final squad over someone else.  Not like they want to piss Bron off that easy.  What I would be surprised about is if he gets any meaningful minutes.  Spot minute or 2 in blowout games fine, but he will get wrecked against any real shooting guard in this league right now.  Imagine bronny trying to cover ANT lol.

Nah, this will happen, especially for Bronny's first score ever. 100000% he will get the pass from Lebron so they can make "history" together.
Some weeks ago at some site (maybe stake or something) I saw season bets on Bronny. Like over/under 75 points and stuff, but one bet sticked out.
"Woo will assist Bronny's 1st score", options were LBJ with 1.5 odds and/or any other player with 2.6.  Grin

Oh my god is there really a season line for bronny lol.  He might not even see 75 dribbles.  Seriously he is no where even close to being able to match up against opposing MBA defenses.  Leave that summer league stuff alone, that's like practice amd no where the level of defense he will see in a real game.  No kidding I will load up on the under if it's as high as 75.

Lonnie Walker IV signing with the Celtics is a good move for them I think. He probably isn’t efficient enough for the starting lineup but he’s a guy that can come in off the bench and bring some athleticism. I think the Celtics were smart to pick him up, especially on a one year deal. I still don’t think they’re the best team in the east, but this helps.
Yes, that's true. Walker IV doesn't even need warm-ups, he can shoot while he is cold. Cheesy The real scary duo in the Celtics uniform are Jrue Holiday and Derrick White. Those guys can defend the backcourt players like hell.

You got a point there. But it will be better if Steph Curry will be remembered as a Warrior in his entire career. It's very rare for a player to be kept by one franchise like what happened to Dirk Nowitzki and I think Luka Doncic will also have the same ending. Kobe Bryant too in a Lakers uniform will be remembered as that.
Still, we have seen players do some crazy shit when money is involved and I think that's what happened with Wade and other players who are supposed to be franchise players, and yet they signed with other teams.

That extension contract I think is for 2026-2027 so, we'll still see him as the franchise player of the Golden State Warriors.

And I agree with you that t could be his last couple of years to the team. He's getting old but his shots are still there but I am sure that just like the old veterans, they're on their way to retirement just as Steph.

But with this extension then we'll still see him for 3-4 years or more.

I don’t think this will be his last contract. He’s still playing at an elite level and his game is easily transitioned into him being a spot up shooter. He could easily play into his early 40s if he wanted to. That doesn’t mean that he will, but to me this is an odd contract to sign. He must be concerned he’s slowing down, or this must be part of a bigger plan in motion. I think he would’ve stood to make a lot more money not signing this extension.

Same here. If Curry can still contribute to the team like LeBron, then he might continue to play. LeBron is a great model for an NBA player on how to take care of their body, so I'm pretty sure Curry, being a star player, knows how to take care of his as well. The longer he plays, the more production he'll get, which could put him above and might even surpass the all-time scoring champ. Though LeBron is quite an exception, as he has already achieved so much while playing at an older age, he continues to amaze us, and just recently, he became an MVP in the Olympics.

If Steph had flopped in the Olympics after the season the Warriors had, he may have considered thoughts of retiring soon, but I feel like the Olympics may have rejuvenated his confidence and gave him hope that he can still continue to be something special for the game of basketball.

Steph lost Klay and now it's time to see what the Warriors replace Klay with and how they fill the gaps they have. Curry will play for the next 3-5 years IMO as long as the Warriors try to build a roster around him.

Steph lost Klay and now it's time to see what the Warriors replace Klay with and how they fill the gaps they have. Curry will play for the next 3-5 years IMO as long as the Warriors try to build a roster around him.

Still no for me because the olympic is just one event, if we would evalute the peformance of Curry, we can look at his last season stats. And as we can see here https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/curryst01.html, he averaged 26.4 PPG, that number is still at a superstar level. Curry wasn't the problem why the Warriors failed last season but it was Klay, that's why he was let go and sure they can find a good replacement for Klay and we shal find that out in the season to come.

Its unfair for Klay to get all the blame on why they fail last season since in fact all of them is inconsistent. Its like they cannot perform good each game they play and it seems like they always have a bad day.

Maybe the reason of their terrible season is due to their playing style which small ball line up is over exposed. They cannot use that strategy anymore since their opponents already know how to handle them well. If they continue to play like that maybe the same result goes with Warriors this season opening.

Right now I think they try to build up the confidence of Podziemski since Warriors ask him to shoot 8-10 3pt attempts per game. Let see if he can deliver since its time for Podziemski to show if he's capable to replace Klay in their roster.

It’s very hard to blame the public for pointing fingers to Klay since his last performance on crucial play-in match against Kings was terrible. He has zero points while playing for 32min with a lot of FGA. His game was bad prior to that terrible game on play-in that’s why it’s understandable to blame him since he is contributing huge on GSW score before as part of splash brother.

If Klay is the same, maybe he gives a momentum to his teammates just like what they are doing before with Curry. They are alternating to give momentum to the team by scoring a lot of 3s.

We wouldn't, except for the fact that Klay is healthy and he should be the second options for the Warriors last season. However, we really don't know what happen to him as he had shot miserably and the Warriors are struggling to even make it in the play-in. Of course, people are going to blame him for that, 0 points in his last game. And as we all know that fans remember your one bad game for the rest of your career. It's just to bad whatever you look at it on how the Warriors and Klay separated, and it's on a bad note. But we will see how Curry will anchoring the team with Hield and the veteran Draymond Green and other role but big players they have like Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins.

This makes sense, fans sometimes are too much, and they don't appreciate what a good player did.
Now we will see if Klay Thompson is really the problem, with Klay on the Dallas Mavericks, I'm expecting a big slap to Golden State Warriors once Klay will blend chemistry with the Dallas Mavericks.

(LA will probably end up being the team that pays Doncic $82 million a year too…)

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/08/29/9Tpb3.jpeg

As an NBA fan, this is all I see in my facebook news feeds. It's surprising that it's just for 1 year and yet the contract amount is still that big. Some say this is a hint that this could be Stephen Curry's last contract with the Warriors. But if we really think about it, this might also be Curry's last couple of years playing in the NBA. Curry is already 36 years old. He has nothing left to prove. He is the best shooter in the entire NBA, even if we compare the past and present. It's like Dwyane Wade; you wouldn't be surprised to find out it was his last year. I don't know why Wade signed with another team, and then only to return to Miami. What happened to Wade, I think might happen to Curry too. But hopefully not.

Curry will continue to be one of the world's top shooters no matter how old he gets. We will probably continue to watch him play like this for a few more years. He doesn't have the athleticism of LeBron in terms of physical appearance, but with his game intelligence and shooting style, we can say that he doesn't look like an old player yet. As far as I know, there is no question of him playing for a team other than GSW. He will continue to chase championships here

There’s no problem with Curry; he’s a shooter, so he can continue to generate points even with new teammates. And since they’re still under the same coach, they’re most likely running the same system, and the newcomers will just have to adapt to it.

Have you noticed that when a player has played with the Warriors for a season or more, they tend to get better and often receive great opportunities to sign with other teams? This only proves that the Warriors’ system is effective, and as long as the main players are still there, they’ll continue to be a championship contender.

Its unfair for Klay to get all the blame on why they fail last season since in fact all of them is inconsistent. Its like they cannot perform good each game they play and it seems like they always have a bad day.

Maybe the reason of their terrible season is due to their playing style which small ball line up is over exposed. Right now I think they try to build up the confidence of Podziemski since Warriors ask him to shoot 8-10 3pt attempts per game. Let see if he can deliver since its time for Podziemski to show if he's capable to replace Klay in their roster.

Its crucial game for them and can't blame fans to think negative about past performance made by Klay. But I guess that single game doesn't mean anything and its not good to put all the blame on him.

But unwanted scenario already happen and Klay decide to leave then choose Dallas. Warriors need to revamp not only with roster which I think happened already with their current roster but also they need to think about new better strategy that possibly will work for their team. Warriors will be one of interesting team to watch next season since people want to see if Curry could still lead his team and also their new player addition could easily adapt on their system.

Its crucial game for them and can't blame fans to think negative about past performance made by Klay. But I guess that single game doesn't mean anything and its not good to put all the blame on him.
It wasn’t just a single game; Klay was already inconsistent last season, and that last game with the Warriors, where he was scoreless, was the reason the management decided to let him go. Maybe they offered him a new contract as a sign of respect but with a smaller amount, so Klay chose not to accept it and instead decided to join a new team to prove that he still has it.

If we can see a rival of the former splash brothers, that would be fun to watch.

For anything to start a new rival both teams need to be good.  In the case of golden state they might not even be a play in team.  Dallas will co.pete every year so long as they have Luka. Golden state on the other hand are going the other way.  Yeah steph will be able to compete for a couple more years but history shows that a team anchored by "old" people generally can't compete long term in the NBA.  They need to nail a bonfire star in the draft amd get a younger free agent or 2 that can move them.  Otherwise they aremt even a .500 team.

Curry deserves the money not just for who he is right now, but what he has done so far as well. I said the same thing about Klay, which they didn't act emotional about, which I understand and it is fine. But remember that Klay was part of a team that won 4 titles, so paying him whatever he wants, paying him the maximum that they can pay, would be fine because he deserves it and not a bad player at all.

I believe that they didn't do it because they wanted to keep it as professional as possible, but the reality is that they couldn't do that to Curry. He is their ticket seller, it is not about who he used to be, it's about how he can sell tickets even now. It's basically just the name, Curry name alone makes so much money, including 62 million in a few seasons, he is still young enough that he will have a good few more seasons. Dude is an agile quick player, and with age that will get worse, but his skills are there and he will continue to be a good player for a while longer.

I agree, he can make more if he hasn't signed this contract but GSW management seems to be wise to let their star contractless for that period so they have signed him.

His role is way different from the role of Lebron with his age. So, being focused on shooting has given him like more free move inside the ring, and is not obliged of great defense.

And let his teammates play for that role.
