What.A.Race.
I am saying it just like McLaren did at their official page and it truly was an A race yesterday. In a track where Mercedes has dominated these last few years yesterday they were out of the picture.A big well done to Max Verstappen as it was an absolutely deserved win for him.Lewis was a bit ill during the weekend so he was not at full health during this race but justifications are not valid for Champions I think.

Quote This was definitely the best race so far this season, rain is something that creates great race, so many tactics with so many retirements and wall hitting. Seem like this race in Germany is turning point, last year Vetter lost here and in the end lost his championship, maybe this time will be for Lewis and maybe just maybe will Max be the person to look for the championship title.

It was a awesome race to watch with allot of exciting moments and great to see who could handle there cars in these conditions. It wont happen that much we dont see Mercedes on the podium. Max was the best driver in the rain and earned his first place.

I reckon the only reason why the race was not boring as usual was because of the rain. Without the rain, Lewis wins and Max might fall on 3rd hehehe.
In any case, it was an outstanding race for Sebastian, good on him.
We saw the most entertaining race yesterday. I hope that we will see more races in rain till the end of the season. Max deserved the win and Bottas didn't deserve to crash but this was part of the race!

Would anyone want to include next years Formula-E in this thread? Yeah, I know some people think electric racing is not real racing.
Since I'm a New Yorker, I saw last years and this years race in Brooklyn. Really enjoyed it.

@DaveF. How much more boring is it than formula 1 hehehe?
I watched it before. It is good to see some of the former formula 1 drivers in there, however the cars do not look as nice and they are not that fast. But include it if you want.

the problem is the visibility become poor Thats the main problem with rain racing that can make it a write off or an extreme combination of a track like monaco and heavy rain can make the race into a clown car pile up quite easily. But I love the unexpected challenges they must overcome with an amount of rain the tires can cope with and still find grip and visibility, anything that shakes up the order and demands immediate skill to win is a welcome factor to the race. Yeah, I know some people think electric racing is not real racing. Its real racing and theres increasingly electric cars in use so theres going to be electric car racing but do they deserve a separate field and to call it F1 I'm not sure without being the best that's exactly correct. If its 'too perfect' in its race then it wont succeed, thats the problem electric has of being monotone but I'm sure they can keep it open enough to be exciting. I still imagine conventional F1 to be the best overall for its challenges.

I hope there is rain again this weekend in Hungaroring as it will make the race a lot more beautiful to watch. The Championship may become open again if Mercedes fail this time too.I think though that they will be driving with more caution this time if rain really hits the track.

Even if we have rain Mercedes are the best cars on the track and they would be again the favorites for winning the 1st and 2nd place in hungaroring!

I don't think they don't look as nice. They are just different. No, not as fast but very quiet. Which helps, and *I* think it will help generate more interest. It's tough to convince a bunch of non motorsport people to have a race on their streets. It blocks traffic, and causes other issues. Not to mention the noise. You can hear them across the city. With the electric car & bike races you dog can be asleep in your front window as they drive by and it might not wake up. That helps the sport. Yes it's a bit of an exaggeration but it does get the people nearby off your back when you want to do it. -Dave

This thread is for all racing series, not just F1 or MotoGP. I saw few races of Formula E and it left me strange impression. They do races at very narrow street circuits and it means there are lot of crashes every race. And all cars are identical, so driver skills is most important here. But what I don't like is sound of these cars - they sounds like vacuum cleaners and this noise is a bit annoying. Damn, I miss sound of V12 engines in F1... Pole position for Verstappen.
Mercedes 2nd and 3rd, this will be a super boring race if the rain will not coming, here is almost impossible to overtake.
They should delete this race from the schedule.
Why you're so sceptical? Yes, this track isn't best for overtaking, but few last races here was really interesting. There are some worse and more boring race circuits in F1, like Sochi, France, Monaco...

I'm following the Formula 1 from over 15 years and I can't remember a fun race here, maybe there was one with the rain but I can't remember correctly. " F1, Hungary: where it’s impossible to overtake." https://racingspot.pirelli.com/global/en-ww/race/f1-hungary-where-it-s-impossible-to-overtake-most-of-the-timeHave a good reading.

This is great for Honda cant remember when they took last time pole position.
Amazing performance by Red Bull Honda. Well bode to Max Verstappen for winning his 1st pole position in his career! Max is on fire last races. It looks promising for the second half of the season. Let's hope Max have a good start this time.

I screwed up as I went for a Hamilton pole position this weekend. Max Verstappen is an up and coming talent but I didn't expect to make his first pole ever today, pretty legendary times, well deserved for the hard work he puts in but it's never good news when you lose the bread on the gamble.
Im still betting tomorrow for a Hamilton top 1, he should take the lead eventually as experience shows up long term on the track. I think it's unlikely Verstappen gets lucky enough to do pole+win this weekend.
The circuit this weekend is a very good circuit for RB. So I won't put my money on Hamilton this weekend. ;-)
