Well, that's an expensive deal.
More expensive per TH/s than batch 1.

I did buy 1, but a tear ran down my face as I sent the Bitcoin.  More money for less.   Cry

On the good side, I am offsetting my monthly hosting costs!  Cheesy

I guess they must be selecting chips, Default Frequency has dropped from 650MHz to 600MHz. Shades of S7.... I wonder how many versions we will see?  Smiley

I am expecting that there will be many different batches.  Based upon the previous S7, the early batches are more robust in temperature and hashing power.  Love my early batches!

Well my s-7 batch two rated at freq 575  was a god among s-7's

I could get 5100gh run at freq 637  with the ibm 2980  and get .249 watts a gh

while errors were under  0.0010 %

I ordered this one and now have 3 pieces on the way.

2 batch 1 and 1 batch 2  for about 40-41 th   replaces 3 and ½ avalon 6s

so 41 th using 4100 watts vs  12th using 3500 watts

I am with you Brother!  2 Batch 1 and 1 Batch 2.  I am really contemplating on a 2nd Batch 2....Hmmmm.....The upfront cost is crazy, but the offset of the Hosting cost per miner is great!

If you want it at a good price, wait until about September.

Yeah I'm done wanting anything from Bitmain. Just an observer now. Perhaps will grab one or two miners if they price them right but not holding my breath. September might be correct.

Why is the price per TH more expensive?

My guess is that btc moved up in price a bit.  and as always  when bitmaintech sees an uptick in btc price they tend to boost up the price of their miners.

I would guess BTC exchange rate has something to do with it. It's more expensive in USD but less expensive in BTC than the first appearance of the S9 was: ~0.26 BTC per TH/s vs ~0.28 BTC per TH/s. The 0.02 BTC per TH/s is roughly how much you can mine in 8 days, assuming these things ship on time.

I'm waiting for the halving and hopefully they put these bad boys on HashNest. Even at low electricity their HashNest s7 math for me makes their cloud mining 13% more profitable even though I have $.07/kwh. Pretty crazy, huh? I just want to keep watching the price drop on these...but then again difficulty is probably going up at an equal rate or maybe even more  Grin

I'm in the same boat. But it feels good to be an intentional bystander instead of an addict this time.

It's like being an alcoholic at a bar watching everyone else get drunk and not being tempted.

For the right price though, I'll fall off the wagon.

I won't order one until the price reaches ~2BTC.  That seems more than reasonable.  These will replace all my < S7 gear; and ill sell that stuff for pennies probably just to get rid of it or get a hobbyist going.

Plus I want to see where this model's freq and hashrate will be consistent for several batches...  Don't want to see an early batch fiasco like the S7 had.

Ill assume as well in short time a -LN model will be out like the S7.  One can hope....   Makes sense since they did it with the S7... but maybe they are holding out to get max efficiency out of the chip model..  its anyone's best guess there.

Link to my batch and script resources here.

Just a question, wouldn't it be more profitable for bitmain to sell cloud hash power of these new S9,s first?
